Live Corners - Change one corner individually - I've tried what the tutorials say to do

Live Corners: I can't change only one corner at a time when holding alt/option while clicking (or when I click and drag) the widget with the direct selection tool. Instead it changes all the corners at once. How do I get it to change one corner individually?

Agreed, the steps in the video cannot be reproduced faithfully in the current software (18.0.0). Granted when he talks about changing the radius of a corner independently he selects a control point. Earlier however he appears to change a single corner style with the entire shape selected. This I cannot do.
As far as I can tell there is no reason why the operation ALT/OPT + manipulation of the corner widget can't result in single control of that radius. The ALT/OPT key along with the white arrow tool doesn't seem to be any different than with no modifier key.
The tool is a very good idea on the whole but the intuitive approach should be the one that works.

Change one corner of rounded rectangle to a point. This was in a recent emailing of InDesign Magazine's Tip of the Week. I do what it says but it doesn't work.
It says to draw a rectangle. I do. Fine.
It says to apply rounded corners. I do. Fine.
It says, "select the path you want to expand..." I don't.
The only path is the one that goes around the whole rectangle.
It sends me to Window > Object and Layout > Pathfinder.
Those choices don't exist.
So I never get to the later instructions.
I use ID CS v. 3.0.1.
Could these be instructions for a later version?
Or am I missing something?

You need to select the rounded rectangle and the small rectangle that you'll be combining to use that technique.
There was also a script called CornerEffects.jsx that shipped as one of the samples on the disk (I don't recall anymore if CS3 installs them by default, but I beleive it does). You can apply the rounded corner to only some of the corners using that script, and leave others square.

The Brush tool (Keyboard B) has several different brushes in the same slot. Right click on the brush icon and you will see them, or press B sequentially.
The Smart Brush tool (Keyboard F) has two items in the slot.
Since you did not provide reference to "the instructions", it is difficult to remedy the "confusion." that exists.
I suspect that the recipe calls for a mask, and painting with a black brush to mask out certain areas.
It would help if you post the instructions and what your goal is with more specificity.

When i try to add a text. Their is no box in the text tab that allows me to change what the text says.

I recently got fcpx and i am having lots of trouble trying to put in a text. When i choose a text to put on top of a clip, i am not able to change what the text says. I am not even able to highlight the text on the screen. There is not text box on the text tab where i am also able to change the text.

To make what Tom said, a little clearer, press 'A' then double click the text box in the Viewer window, and type into there.

If it was working on 10/1, why not open up the most recent backup library with a timestamp of that day. Unless you specified otherwise, your backup folder is in Movies in your home folder. You can double-click one to open it in FCP.
The update command actually wants a mounted drive selected.
I suggest not going into the library bundles and moving or modifying folders/files except as a last resort. It sounds like both libraries are corrupted.

I make changes on the calendar of my MacBook Pro but the changes do not take and revert to what the entry was prior.

By everything, I am assuming you have tried resetting the SMC (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964) and PRAM (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379). If you haven't tried this yet, please do!

The update you're talking about was the firmware update. Hopefully resetting the PRAM gets you up and running. Try resetting it 3 times in a row (hold the keys down until you hear 3 startup chimes).

Changing panels on a frame depending on what the user clicks

I'm making a small application with a JFrame and some JPanels.
When the application starts a start panel is added to the frame where the user can press two buttons. If he presses a button, then a new panel must be painted on the frame. In the new panel there is a button for going back to the starting panel.
How can I accomplish this changing of panels? How does one panel give control to another panel? How can I let the frame control everything (if I should do that)?

I guess just use CardLayout, CardLayout will solve your problem

I used a program called sharepod when my hard drive crashed. it lets you add all the songs from your ipod/phone/etc back onto your pc.

Are you using a supported carrier? See this list for supported carriers: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937
FaceTime/iMessage use SMS messages sent to Apple's servers in the UK. If you are using a supported carrier and your account is properly provisioned for an iPhone, you should have no problem. If you are using an unsupported carrier, they may be blocking the international text message used for activation.
