Live text to Paths Meta Data

This request originated on another list.
The attributes/notes can be used to add text meta-data to objects, which has been around for a long time and is very helpful.
I would love Illus/InDesign to automatically write the font details (font family and or other formatting) to the outlined paths when text is converted from live editable text to outlined vector paths.
There is nothing worse than being given an outlined file as the only data by a client and then asked to make text changes or to match the font for use in a new job.
A very helpful person named Rick Gordon gave me some help in doing this via AppleScript (see below) - however it would be good if this was hard wired into Illus and InDesign so that file originators would tag the font data to the paths when they first outline the editiable text.
SCRIPT:
tell application "Adobe Illustrator"
tell document 1
set storyText to text of story of selection
set fontName to name of text font of text of story of selection
tell selection
tell storyText
set propList to {fontName, return, size, return, leading, return, tracking,
return, rotation}
end tell
set convertedText to convert to paths
set note of convertedText to propList as text
end tell
end tell
end tell

  • Using Item UIDRef, can we get data as set in "text on path option" dailog box for each "text on path" item

    Hi all,
    I have a Item UIDRef but facing a problem for getting data as set in "text on path option" dailog box for each "text on path" item.
    What I did:
    - Getting the  pointer "IMainItemTOPData" using item UIDRef as
      InterfacePtr<IMainItemTOPData> mainItemTOPData(shapesUIDRef, UseDefaultIID());
    - This interface has the method GetTOPOptionData () which return ITOPOptionsData pointer
    - But SDK don't have "ITOPOptionsData" class implementation.
    Second Approch:
    - Used "ITextOnPathSelectionSuite" and getting the correct result for Desktop plugin.But I want the correct result in server plugin also.
    Anyone who has an idea how to get this using UIDRef, please let me know.

  • Adding alternative text (meta data)

    How do you add Alternative Text to an existing jpeg?
    Thanks

    Good day!
    A jpg can not have »proper« editable text (except in the meta data etc.) but rather presents an image of text.
    So changing text in the image would require removing the old text (if it is not completely covered by the new text at least) by using the various tools available for such a task in Photoshop (Clone Stamp Tool, Content Aware Fill, …) and writing in the new one (with the Type Tool for example).
    In such a case it might pay off to keep the layered psd file and save a jpg off of that (File > Save As).

  • Can Meta data be exported to a text file

    Hello, Is there a way in Bridge (CS4) to export meta data from a group of photos (>100) to a text file? I want to track meta data from all my photos using a database program. I do not need the actual photos in the file, just the meta data so I can search it. Any input would be appreciated. thanks, Skip

    TEXT INDEX의 META DATA를 CTXSYS USER에서 삭제하는 방법
    ======================================================
    PURPOSE
    Intermedia text 나 Oracle Text 를 사용할 때, Text index는 삭제되었는 데,
    meta data가 삭제되지 않은 경우가 생긴다.
    이런 경우, 수동으로 meta data 까지 모두 삭제하는 방법을 알아보자.
    Explanation
    이 방법은 잘못되는 경우 CTXSYS user를 다시 초기화 해야하는 문제가 발생할 수
    있으므로 이를 감안하여 작업해야 한다.
    수동으로 삭제하는 방법은 다음과 같은 절차를 이용하여 작업할 수 있다.
    1. 먼저 해당 user에서 다음과 같은 command로 index를 drop 해 본다.
    SQL> drop index INDEX_NAME force;
    2. drop command로 drop이 정상적으로 되지 않으면 다음과 같이 실행한다.
    sqlplus ctxsys/ctxsys
    select idx_id from dr$index where idx_name='<TEXT_INDEX_NAME>';
    => 조회된 index id가 1092 인 경우 아래와 같이 실행한다.
    delete from dr$index_value where IXV_IDX_ID = 1092;
    delete from dr$index_object where IXO_IDX_ID = 1092;
    delete from dr$index where idx_id = 1092;
    commit;
    3. Text index를 생성한 user에서 DR$<index_name>$i 이름의 TABLE을 모두
    다음과 같이 drop한다.
    SQL> drop table dr$<index_name>$i;
    SQL> drop table dr$<index_name>$k;
    SQL> drop table dr$<index_name>$n;
    SQL> drop table dr$<index_name>$r;
    4. 이제 해당 Text index를 다시 생성하면 된다.

  • ANSI X12 meta data availability in conversion agent??

    Hello,
    Is there a provision for availability of ANSI X12 meta data in SAP conversion agent. We are trying to process EDI orders using the X12 INDUSTRY standard. Please advise.
    -Kris

    hi,
    SAP Conversion Agent together with SAP Net Weaver, enables  to automate complex integration activities for a multitude of data and document formats. These include unstructured and partially structured documents such as Office files, data streams, printing applications, and other application-specific formats.
    Easily integrate unstructured and semi-structured data into SAP Net  Weaver Process Integration using the Conversion Agent.
    Conversion Agent dynamically converts unstructured messages from   Microsoft Word,Excel,PDF plain text.
    Semi-structured formats such as HL7,SWIFT,HIPA, ANSI X12 and COBOL to   PI understandable SOAP XML.
              So that it helps to easily integrate the information need into the back-end systems. Conversion can also be used as the reverse process to convert from XML to unstructured or semi-structured formats

  • PPro CS3 fails to read Meta data

    PPro CS3 fails to read Meta data in some files i have imported. It fails to read the start of the timecode and the tape name:
    Files imported into PPro CS3: http://web.comhem.se/averdahl/pproCS3_meta.png
    The same files imported into PPro 1.5: http://web.comhem.se/averdahl/ppro15_meta.png
    The first two clips are captured in PPro 2.0, may 2006, and the rest is captured in PPro CS3, august 2007. I have then used the Split function in Scenalyzer Live to split the captured material into smaller clips. I added the Tape Name in Scenayzer Live.
    The Meta data, timecode and tape name, can be read in Scenalyzer Live, Adobe Bridge 2.10.100 and PPro 1.5 but PPro CS3 refuses to read some of it. I have not PPro 2.0 installed right now but will give it a shot later. I have deleted Media Cache Database and reimported the clips in CS3 to no avail. I can create a new Project and import the files with the same reults, some meta data is skipped, so the Project itself is ok.
    Do you know why this happens? Does it happen to anyone else? Do anyone have a solution?

  • Problem writing meta data changes in xmp in spite of enabled settings

    Dear Adobe Community
    After struggling with this for two full days and one night, you are my last hope before I give up and migrate to Aperture instead.
    I am having problems with Lightroom 5 writing meta data changes into xmp and including development settings in JPEG, inspite of having ticked all three boxed in catalog settings.
    In spite of having checked all boxes, Lightroom refused to actually perform the actions. I allowed the save action to take a lot longer than the saving indicator showed was needed, but regardless of this no edits made in the photo would be visible outside Lightroom. I also tried unticking and ticking and restarting my compute.
    Therefore, I uninstalled the program and the reinstalled it again (the trial version both times). I added about 5000 images to Lightroom (i.e. referenced). After having made a couple of changes for one photo in development settings, I tried closing the program. However, then this message was then displayed:
    I left the program open and running for about 5-5 hours, then tried closing the program, but the message still came up so I closed the program and restarted the computer. I tried making changes to another photo, saving and then closing and the same message comes up. The program also becomes unresponsive, and of course still no meta data has been saved to the photo, i.e. when opening it outside Lightroom, the edits of the photos is not shown.
    What do do? I would greatly appreciate any insights, since I have now completely hit the wall.
    Oh yes, that´s right:
    What version of Lightroom? Include the minor version number (e.g., Lighroom 4 with the 4.1 update).
    Lightroom 5.3
    Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
    I installed the program two days ago and then for the second time today.
    What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/31.0.1650.63 Safari/537.36
    What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
    JPEG
    If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
    Please see screen dumps above
    What were you doing when the problem occurred?
    Trying to save metadata + trying to open images that it seemed I had saved meta data to
    Has this ever worked before?
    No
    What other software are you running?
    For some time Chrome, Firefox, Itunes. Then I closed all other software.
    Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Lightroom, such as adding Plug-ins, presets, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers, or installing/uninstalling any programs?
    No, the problems have been there all the time.

    Hi Rob
    I think you succeeded in partly convincing me. : ) I think I will go for a non-destrucitve program like LR when I am back in Sweden, but will opt for a destructive one for now.  Unfortuntately, I have an Olypmus- so judging from your comment NX2 might not be for me.
    Hi AnnaK (see below).

    My old snaps are JPEG, but I recently upgraded to an Olympus e-pl5 and will notw (edited by RC) start shooting RAW.
    Note: I edited your statement: I assume you meant now instead of not.
    If you start shooting raw, then you're gonna need a raw processor, regardless of what the next step in the process will be. And there are none better for this purpose than Lightroom, in my opinion. As has been said, you can export those back to Lightroom as jpeg then delete the raws, if storage is a major issue, or convert to Lossy DNG. Both of those options assume you're willing to adopt a non-destructive workflow, from there on out anyway (not an absolute requirement, but probably makes the most sense). It's generally a bad idea to edit a jpeg then resave it as a jpeg, because quality gets progressively worse every time you do that. Still, it's what I (and everybody else) did for years before Lightroom, and if you want to adopt such a workflow then yeah: you'll need a destructive editor that you like (or as I said, you can continue to use Lightroom in that fashion, by exporting new jpegs and deleting originals - really? that's how you want to go???). Reminder: NX2 works great on jpegs, and so is still very much a candidate in my mind - my biggest reservation in recommending it is uncertainty of it's future (it's kinda in limbo right now).

    Rob Cole wrote:
    There is a plugin which will automatically delete originals upon export, but relying on plugins makes for additional complication too.
    Which plugin is this?
    Exportant (the option is invisible by default, but can be made visible by editing a text config file). To be clear: I do not recommend using Exportant for this purpose until after you've got everything else setup and functioning, and even then it would be worth reconsidering.

    What I do is auto-publish to all consumption destinations after each round of edits, but that takes more space.
    How do you do this?
    Via Publish Services.
    PS - I also use features in 'Publish Service Assistant' and 'Change Manager' plugins (for complete automation), but most people just select publish collections and/or sets and click 'Publish' - if you only have a few collections/services it's convenient enough.

    No - sorry, maybe somebody else does.

  • Photoshop CS3 crashes when meta-data is edited

    We are using Photoshop CS3 on our G5 Mac running Leopard. When we open any JPG or EPS file and attempt to edit the meta data it crashes Photoshop completely (before we can even attempt to save the file). It does not matter which meta data field we are editing it happens to all of them. Not sure what has changed on the system as we have not done any updates recently. Thought it might be a corrupt preference file but not sure which one to delete? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    I can confirm that this is a user preference problem, as there is no problem on a newly created user account. However, deleting the 'obvious' preference files from ~/Library/Preferences (Adobe and Photoshop prefs and plists) has had no effect.
    I have moved ALL preference files from ~/Library/Preferences, restarted and relaunched Photoshop. This has resolved the original Photoshop issue. I now have to reapply all of the other user preferences for all other applications/devices. (Resolving the original issue has probably created more work, but at least we can use Photoshop!)
    It would be nice to hear if anyone has any idea which preference file may of caused the issue.
    Thanks.

  • Bridge CS4 Meta data in web album

    Hi,
    I am looking all over for a way which makes it posibly to show ONLY the description meta data in a web album created with adobe bridge cs4.
    I have been able to have a text for each image in a slide show in every free web album I have tryed. Since I started to use bridge, I have been happy to use it for rating images and stuff like that. But can it really be that Meta data is so difficult to handle in bridges web album?... I think only one of the templates makes it possible to check 'Show metadata', but this is ALL metadata.. very many metadata, and definately not what I want. It can not be the case that bridges web album can not show a description or title only from an images meta or can it? Can anyone help me, have I missed something.
    Hope someone can help me with some hints.. is it possible to make a web album including only description Meta data for each image?
    Thank you very much
    Regards
    Jens

    hmm, maybe bridge is not the right choice after all, maybe Fireworks are better.. but still wondering why this simple possibility is not present in bridge,..

  • Meta data and data asset management

    I am looking for suggestions and or products that can support managing our footage.
    Our goal is for an editor to search for a clip using the  data entered in the “description” (metadata) field of clips and sub-clips  that have been logged in various projects.
    Here is the outline.
    We record clips of high def footage and we import batches of these clips; sometimes a few dozen,  and sometimes thousands.  We bring these batches into a Premiere Pro CS5 project by importing the video clips from within a P2 card folder structure, or avchd, or dslr footage or ??/any format we collect...
    We log a description of the clips and of sub-clips, and then we edit a film from those elements.    After 1 project, or after 50 projects, we have all the detailed description (metadata) we've entered about each clip and sub-clip captured, and this data lives within the CS5 project. We can only search it from within the original project.
    If we start a new project and we need to look back at footage from old projects, we can only search for footage by going into that old project .  We would like to have the metadata write back to our archive (or a copy of the footage in a new archive.)  If the archive and the clips and sub-clips had the metadata from the project we could search and find assets.  Among the obstacles is that sub-clips share the name of the clip it comes from so there is no “place” for it’s metadata.  We've tried using Project Manager>Collect Files & Copy to New Location but the subclip .mxf files created through this process are copies of the source clip despite being labeded "random.subclip001".   When imported, this "random.subclip001" file shows up in Premiere as the original "random" source clip name.
    We are looking at a small library – but it’s big for us.  About 20 terabytes…  A typical client might have 4-6 terabytes of assets we would like to look through for a shot, or an interview…  Has anyone made inroads on this?
    Many thanks for any thoughts and ideas.
    Sincerely,
    Rees Candee

    Hi Abhilash,
    Meta Data-
    In BW the meta-data contain data about data.
    It is like having information about the information.
    You have the business related meta-data for example the description used in your reports or the technical related meta-data for example the rules used in the transformation or the extraction. These are the two types of meta-data you have in the metadata repository that you manage with the metadata manager

    Meta Data Repository
    It is the repository which Manages Meta Data, for example like when talking about an ODS in the metadatarepository you can read about which characteristics, key figures, infosource and updaterules are used in it. And creation date, owner etc.

  • Is the meta data in google search engine changeable?

    Hi there,
    I have made a website using iweb, published with mobile me and using web forwarding. The website when seen in google comes up with the following meta data to describe the site:
    GALLERY shapeimage10_link0. ABOUT shapeimage11_link0. HIRE shapeimage12_link0. CONTACT shapeimage15_link0.
    the website is catebakescake.co.uk
    How can I change this? I have been onto iwebFAQ and it seems to say you cannot change the meta data and google looks at your page and describes it from the info on the page; but I am sure there must be a way to change the information as for some reason it is looking at the shape files of the page and not the text! Obviously I just want to put information about the site which explains what the site is about. I thought I had done this as I put the descriptions in when publishing the site with the web hosting company.
    Thanks in advance

    You can use iWeb SEO Tool to add tags and meta data but what you really need to do is write some interesting and relevant text for the search engine spiders to read.
    The problem with your landing page is that there is no actual text for the spiders to read. Your "text" is an image so all they can pick up is the image titles and not the text.

  • Why does Bridge CS6 destroy my SWF files after inputting Meta Data?

    I save a swf file to my hard drive.  Then I open Bridge, select the swf file, and type some Meta Data into the panel on the right.  As soon as the data saves and the preview window refreshes, the preview renders completely white (Bridge can no longer preview it).  If I open the file in Flash, some layers and text are now missing.
    It seems that the act of writing meta-data to the swf file actually destroys portions of the file, and I have to go back to the original and re-export.
    We have reproduced this problem on both Mac & PC, on swf files of varying compression & XMP settings.  It is fairly consistent.
    Has anyone run into this and if so does anyone have any suggestions?

    Not a expert on swf files, but this article says you can not use Bridge to add metadata to SWF files.  So maybe that is why you are running into problems.  http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/190/862442
