How do you set up a live webcast with Quicktime Broadcaster? Is there an easier or bettwe alternative for free available for the Mac? Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to set up a live webcast at a low cost?

Quicktime won't play live webcast....error msg about plug in

Movie trlrs, advertisements, even archived webcasts can be viewed, but when I try to view a live webcast all I rcvd is the QT player loading the broadcast then stops. Clicking on the Q an error msg says plugin was found but an error has in the plugin has occurred. Help please!

What do I do?
Frankly, if you have deleted the original movie clips from your camera/camcorder and iPhoto, then it sounds as if you are up the proverbial creek without a paddle and there is nothing further that you can do.
Some facts:
For some reason, the movieclips are awful small (13-30 KB).
640 x 480
Codecs: H.264, AAC
While these facts are of little value without file duration information, as you yourself have already noted, the file sizes quoted are extremely small. A typical VGA H.264/AAC file of reasonable quality would normally have a combined total data rate in the 700 to 1,700 Kbps range depending on specific settings, profile, and level of the encoding software and could be even higher or lower depending on the quality levels required. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that files in the 13 to 30 KB range only contain 104 to 240 Kbs and either have durations measured in fractions of seconds or do not actually contain enough data to be played. (E.g., the video data may be missing or the file is corrupted.) Thus, it is most likely that something was wrong with the workflow used to "export" your files to the external drive and when you ignored the fact that the files were not playing correctly, you closed the door on anything that you could do when you deleted the source files. (I.e., the normal workflow here is to copy the entire iPhoto library to the external drive, switch libraries, confirm the new library is working properly and only then delete the boot drive copy of the iPhoto library.)
OBS: When I try to convert the files into something else (AVI, MP4 whatever) either it comes with an error, nothing happens or the converted file wont open. This happens with various convert-programs.
If the data in the files is missing, then there is nothing to be converted by any application.

Unable to view live webcast

Help I bought my first Mac because I was told once I had one I would never go back.
Well, it has been 7 days and I am on the fence and have 7 more days to return it. I am hoping someone can help me. I have a problem that could be the deal breaker for me. I purchase/sell jewelry part-time. I am unable to view a live webcast at (http://www.dsntv.com/live.htm). I have tried everything, I have the latest WMedia player for MAC, downloaded F4MAC & plug in for Leopard. I even contacted F4MAC support and was told:
"I was able to recreate the problem you had with this website. Unfortunately, some websites are scripted in such a way that only PC users, who have Windows Media 9 loaded, can play their video streams."
I have read some posts that say to download perian and some that say I need a codec. Can anyone tell me if they can view the webcast from their MAC and if so, what I should download. I don't want to keep downloading different things and none of them work. If there is nothing out there, just please let me know.

Well, in the meantime, I found another post from a couple of months ago <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5620582&#5620582> and I tried most of the suggestions (e.g. downloaded RealPlayer, Macromedia Flash, and Perian.

It might just be possible, but I wouldn't dream of doing it! You'd have to have Audition monitoring on, and have it in record mode, feeding the mic monitor signal and also a track replaying at the same time to the output.
Audition simply isn't designed to do this. Normally you'd use a small external mixer, and feed Audition and the mic into that, with the output going to whatever you are doing the webcast from. This way you can stop and start Audition as a playback source as and when you want, without fear of losing your entire output. And ideally the webcasting software should be a different PC. My experience of running Audition and webcasting software in the same machine simultaneously isn't exactly good...

Trying to Live Webcast on YouTube using AME and external mic on apple computer

Hi. Im an ADOBE forum newbie Ive tried to flick through the forums to find a solution to this but cant. Basically i am trying to webcast on YouTube via my mac but using an external mic.
I have a macbook AIR. And i recently bought a behringer 302USB mixer to input my audio from the microphone i have to the computer via the USP port.
When i look in the system preferences/sounds, it recognises the USB mixer and it shows that sound is being input by the volume level indicator moving.
However, the microphone isnt recognised as an audio input in adobe media encoder (im presuming this is the same as FLME .. i couldnt find a forum for flash live media encoder) ... it seems to automatically use INTERNAL MIC ...
WHen i decide to try and see if the USB set up works in garage band, it records fine ... same for quickime .. so it seems to pick up sound and record to computer .. what i seem to be struggling to do is direct the sound to the media encoder for it to record the sound from the USB mic .. as opposed to the internal mic ..
I tried a little trick by attempting to redirect via SOUNDFLOWER .. then into AME via soundflower ... it recognised soundflower .. but the audio came out silent ... so it once again didnt seem to recognise (or process the audio live ...
I need to use an external mic as my internal mic picks up too much noise .. and the external mix is very directed in what sounds it picks up ...
Does anyone know a fix?? .. this is driving me mad ...

It's not only the files in the Programs folder which are installed by most Windows applications, but also the files in other folders (e.g. Programdata) as well as the Registry settings, which are required to run an application. Installing an application in a folder, coping it and running it from somewhere else was possible in the good old DOS times.

Record a 3 hour live webcast video & audio

Can QT record a webcast? If yes, how? I don't see the controls for recording. If no, then what is "the program" to use? I have been searching several discussions and programs but nothing seems to be a for sure solution unless I am recording from a camera or DVD or only want audio. I have Final Cut Express HD that I bought February 2007 and never opened but don't see that it has recording capability. I need to record video & audio of a webcast coming over the net and I only have a couple hours left to get this working.

How much hard drive space do you have???
Depending on the dimensions (xy), acquisition codec and final codec for the video your looking at some major hard drive space.
I believe Snapz Pro X uses acquisition codec and then transcodes that video to a final codec/format. IShowU is another screen capture program. It transcodes on the fly, major CPU usage. (I have both of these programs.)
This is something to should have been setup and tested a few days ago. All you need is a small hiccup during recoding and you'll end up with nothing but garbage at the end of the recording. If you recoded to your system hard drive and fill it up during recoding you could run into some problems with you system hard drive. I wouldn't advise recording to your system hard. Recoding to a USB external hard drive won't cut the mustard, to slow. You'll need something like a external 800 firewire hard drive.
Three hours of recoding won't be a easy task.

Live update setup error

hello i am trying to get solaris 10 live update working, done a install from x86 dvd. when i run the live update tool i get an error message: ERROR Setup Not Installed
i chose default for all the settings on install
any ideas?

What is the exact command you are using? Are all of the LU packages installed (SUNWlucfg, SUNWluu, SUNWlur)? Is the latest live upgrade patch installed? This is patch 121430-xx (SPARC) and 121431-xx (x86).

When streaming a live webcast laptop freezes

I have attempted two webcast using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2 and about 20 minutes into the webcast my laptop freezes. I have to shut-down holding down the power button to re-boot and restart Encoder to resume live stream. Looking at the encoding log I did not see any problems like "drops" to alert me that I may encounter a problem.

Windows 7 Professional
Service Pack1
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9600 @ 2.80 GHz
32-bit Operating System
2 GB Ram
Using a DSL line for making connection to server with Adobe Flash Media Interactive Software 3.5.
The Encoder setting I am using are:

Input Size 720x480
Bit rate 350
Required Bandwidth read 406
Audio:
Fomat MP3
Channel Mono
Sample Rate 44100
Bit Rate 56
I am new to working with video and do not have clue what might be causing this problem other than laptop upgrades needed?

It sounds as if there is a problem with the TV\Monitor. I note that you have not specified what other inputs the device has. That would help. You call it a monitor. Most of the rest of us are using LCD displays. It is only 20 inch per your description. I wouldn't use it if it wouldn't accept a video signal with a resolution higher than 1024 x 768.

Tethering should be in the Wireless settings of your phone. We would recommend contacting your smartphone's support team for more information about this and where to find it. You can ask them about the Wireless features of your phone and how to enable tethering, if it's possible.

Live Webcast with a 7D and MBP (2011 late)

Is it possible to use a Canon 7D plugged into the Macbook Pro for live streaming via just the mini HDMI to mini display? or AV out from 7D to something on the MBP?

I can't broadcast with the built in iSight webcam... how would I zoom in or zoom out? or how would I pan? I've seem people doing it walking with their laptops but that's not an option for me... there's nothing wrong with my USB ports but that's neither an option to stream video because as far as I know through USB you can't connect video in apple operating systems ..you can for sure plug any video cam or photo camera through usb but as a drive to transfer data not as a live video camera... is by firewire an old interface developed by apple that you can connect all sorts of cameras to apple computers... unfortunately my new sony HDR-AX2000 camcorder doesn't have firewire output...

How can I do a live webcast, audio only?

Lets say for example I want multiple to people to hear me talk live over the internet while they are watching a television show and my live audio commentary while watching the same show is simultaneous without any delay on the receivers end? Sort of like Mystery Science Theatre but audio is over the internet.
I am not very savvy, so simple language/explanations would be appreciated.
Is this something Quicktime Broadcaster does? Would I need some kind of service to send to multiple recipients/locations?

Do you have Apple Care + or have you had your iPad less than 90 days?
What model iPad & what iOS? What is your problem? We can probably help.

404 errors - live streaming

Hello,
I'm trying to setup a live webcast... and is no working
I can see the the movies stored on /quicktimestreaming/Movies but the live stream is givin all the time a 404 error
I have done manual unicast uploading the spd file
and automatic announce... but it's doesn't work (server rejects connection)
I have been all day talking with the datacenter where my server is located and the assure me that the ports are open.
any ideas!

this is our current Structure. We have already a Infrastructre for RTMP. Now we want to extend with HTTP Streaming. We are using already a virtual directory setup. Here is a part from the application.xml
