LMS Dashboard - Embedded vs URL

Greetings!
I am able to add URL Dashboards - however I would like to Embed and not navigate away from my LMS. I have 2 URLs I would like to embedd - however when I embed them they appear to use the short URL.
Meaning if I use EMBEDDED type the link takes me to https://<ciscoworksserver>/cwportal/group/lms and not my external URL
If I use URL type the link works but navigates my browser away from Ciscoworks
Do I need to put a shortcut inside the group/lms folder for embedded type to work? I would really like my MRTG and Whats Up URLs to be embedded inside my Ciscoworks vs having to navigate away.
(It would be nice for URL type if the link used target="_blank" and spawned a new tab / session instead of taking me out of LMS)
Thanks!

I'm saying add a new IFrame portlet to one of your dashboards, and in the configuration for the IFrame, put the link to your MRTG graph.  You can embed multiple IFrames in a dashboard.  The advantage of this is that the MRTG graphs can appear directly in the LMS dashboard.  No additional clicks would be necessary.  The IFrame portlet can be found under the Miscellaneous portlet list when you click the "Add Portlet" button.  See this example.

  • Problem while passing parameters for dashboard prompts in URL

    Hi,
    We have created a dashboard on OBI which has some dashboard prompts. We have a requirement that we shall open the dashboard from an external application. We are doing this by invoking an URL. We want the dashboard to turn with prompts already being applied.
    I was trying to open the dashboard with the following URL
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Go&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview
    But when I use the above Go URL the dashboard is not coming up. It shows the following error
         No Columns
         The request cannot be performed because it contains no columns.
    When I use the following URL(which has the keyword 'Dashboard' not 'Go') the Dashboard is coming up fine
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview
    There are dashboard prompt defined in dashboard. When I try to send the filter value via URL(given below) it is not working. I just see the Dashboard coming up.
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&NQUser=Administrator&NQPassword=SADMIN&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview&P0=1&P1=eq&P2=Supplier."Supplier%20Name"&P3=1+AccessMicron
    when we use the keyword Dashboard in the URL , can we pass the parameter for the dashboard proimpt ..? If we can do that .. how to do that ..? Is it the same manner that we do for Go URL. ..?
    Please let me know if you need any more information on this.
    Thanks in advance for your time,

    Hi Raj,
    Raghu is correct, you need the Action=Navigate to make prompts work, otherwise you get move to the target dashboard without prompts.
    I think you figured it out your self, but the ?Go is for Answer Requests and ?Dashboard is for navigating to dashboards.
    I would also recommend using col1="COLUMN_NAME" and val1=value syntax instead of the P0,P1, etc, etc. It's a little easier to read and implement.
    Try this:
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&Action=Navigate&NQUser=Administrator&NQPassword=SADMIN&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview&col1=%22Supplier%22.%22Supplier%20Name%22&val1=1+AccessMicron
    Good luck!

  • Time Machine message - "Backup destination is a local destination, but we found an embedded server URL." Should I worry?

    Hello,
    I just transferred my data with Migration Assistant to a newer, used iMac from my old G5. When Time Machine finished, I saw a strange message about an "embedded server URL" and I'm wondering if I should worry.
    The external drive is a LaCie 2TB hard drive connected via Firewire. My iMac is model 12,2 running the latest Mavericks.
    Here is my Time Machine log with the questionable piece in bold:
    Copied 113.67 GB of 235.39 GB, 1168503 of 1213037 items
    Backup destination is a local destination, but we found an embedded server URL.
    Copied 1140104 items (228.3 GB) from volume Macintosh HD. Linked 80321.
    Will copy (424.6 MB) from Macintosh HD
    Found 7210 files (444.3 MB) needing backup
    2.17 GB required (including padding), 23.5 GB available
    Copied 6747 items (444.5 MB) from volume Macintosh HD. Linked 7453.
    Created new backup: 2014-09-24-233352
    Copying OS X Recovery set
    Backup completed successfully.
    Thanks for any advice,
    Zeus

    Firewire can handle networking.. I wonder if you are or have in the past networked the LaCie.. maybe even shared it over the network??
    I do not think the message is particularly problematic.. Since firewire is still not directly connected to a network.. and unless you share it, is still just a local drive.. sometimes TM comes up the strangest issues.. particularly since Mavericks.

  • LMS Dashboard widget

    Hi,
    Where I can download "Lms dashboard widget" from cisco site?
    Is this compatible with LMS3.2.1 ?
    Thanks in advance!!

    here is a link to a video that explaines some general information about the widget. There it says that it is compatible with LMS 3.2, but they are talking about one of the earliest versions.
    http://www.vustv.com/sESQHFXm5LO5P
    The actual version you can download is lms_widget_sw_v0.92.air and the readme says it is compatible with LMS 4.0 and above - LMS 3.2 is not mentioned - this means it is not support - so you could just try and see if it is working (but do not complain for any errors...)
    [I looked for the "old" version for LMS 3.2 on CCO but couldn't find it any more ...]
    link to the download page:

  • Using a file in a Dashboard Embedded Content

    If I remember correctly I could include a .pdf file in a dashboard (obiee 10g). Now in 11g, the embedded content properties points to an URL. I suppose I can still access a file (in a network drive or local drive for testing) but I am struggling with the format... I have tried a couple of them but nothing happens...
    Pls. any hint on this ?
    Txs.
    Antonio

    Try this
    You need to upload file first and then call using downloadFile&path
    ex:
    http://lcoalhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?downloadFile&path=text.pdf
    If helps pls mark

  • Can't view dashboard with relative url in BI 4 Launchpad

    I created a dashboard using BIWS connections and I am able to preview the dashboard when i have the full path of Web Service URL but when I use the relative url and publish to launchpad I get the "Cannot access external data......, Unable to load URL:/dswsbobje/Services/Session..." error message. Any ideas on how to solve this?
    Thanks

    Are you trying to preview the dashboard from dashboard designer tool ?  If yes, then you must have a full web service url, otherwise, it will not be able to resolve the server and port.
    But, if you use relative URL and export the same to BO repository, you will be able to view the same by logging into BI Launchpad. There it can resolve the server name and port from existing session.

  • Can you pass parameters to the Dashboard in a URL?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to launch a dashboard from a weblink in a new window but I can't figure out how to pass any parameters into the dashboard. I would like to set the prompt or the presentation variable or anything that could be used to filter the results of the 4 reports running in the dashboard. Right now the dashboard comes up with all results from all accounts and I want just results from the account with the weblink.
    Is this possible?
    thanks

    Ok,
    I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
    I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.
    This is the URL maybe I messed something up...
    https://secure-ausomx###.crmondemand.com/OnDemand/user/Dashboard?OMTHD=ShowDashboard&OMTGT=ReportIFrame&SelDashboardFrm.Dashboard Type=%2fshared%2fCompany_########_Shared_Folder%2f_portal%2f360+Report&Option=rfd&Action=Navigate&P0=1&P1=eq&P2=Account."Account Name"&P3=%%%Name%%%

  • String limitation error when viewing Xcelsius Dashboard embedded in Crystal

    Hello, I am running Crystal Reports 2008 version 12.2.9.698 and have embedded a swf file created in Xcelsius Enterprise 5.3.0.0 Build 12.3.0.670.
    My dashboard is embedded into the Group header for 'Division' and uses a crosstab within Crystal as it's data source.  When I try to view a specific division that has approximately 135 summary lines in the crosstab, I get the following error:
    'A string can be at most 65534 characters long.'
    Then a portion of the code appears with the line 'rowString + toXMLRow(columnString)' highlighted.
    columnString := columnString + toXMLColumn(gridvalueat(curRow, curCol, 26));
    nAddedCols := nAddedCols + 1;
    if nAddedCols = maxCols then exit for;
    rowString := *rowString + toXMLRow(columnString);
    nAddedRows := nAddedRows + 1;
    if nAddedRows = maxRows then exit for;
    This is only happening on one division dashboard, all the others have significantly less lines.  Does either Crystal or Xcelsius have a limitation on the number of lines in a summary?
    Any suggestions on how to get around this issue? My row for the summary is a 4-digit number.
    Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

    Kevin, thank you for your reply to my issue.
    I did see the resolution given in the Crystal Reports 2008 Help, however, this is a string that is being created by Xcelsius, not by me.  I am not sure why or if there is any way to break it up into smaller bites as the code/dashboards are working on smaller divisions of data.
    I guess the real question is...is there a limit to the summary lines that can be handled by either Xcelsius or Crystal when the two are combined.

  • Embedded Vs URL

    When i choose embedded as isolation, the layout is not preserved. In case of URL, the iview is rendered as iframes, but layout is preserved. Is there any way in which i can preserve the layout and avoid iframes?

    Hi Sri,
        The layout is not preserved because one of your iview on the page has javascript which is trying to take over the whole page.

  • Print BW report embedded via URL Iview

    Hi,
    We have a VC application which contains a BI report. In the VC we created a "Print" button which should print the entire contents of the VC Application. Unfortunately it seems this print is not compatible with the URL Iview since it ignores the content of the BI report.
    Is this normal ? Is there a workaround available in VC to print a BI Web application via the VC ?
    thanks

    Please let us know if there are any updates on this. I am also facing the same issue where I have a WAD report ( html link) in the VC model along with other reports in VC. The Print screen just prints the VC part and the WAD part comes as blank.

  • Need some help embedding a url into a swf file

    Hi all
    Thanks to help I have received here, I am almost done with my add banner. I need the banner to link to a url.
    The entire banner needs to be a clickable link for  the duration of the animation. So anyone can click on the banner at any point during the animation, and be brought to my site. I tried putting a frame at the end with getURL("http://www.mybsite", "_blank"); but that doesnt work. When I do that, the banner is not a clickable link, but the site opens automatically  after the animation has played. Cant have that. So after doing some research, the apparent correct way to do this is by making a button, but I do that and the button obsures everything else.
    Any ideas on what I should do?
    Thanks in advance.

    if nothing else is clickable, attached to your main timeline:
    this.onRelease=function(){
    getURL(whatever,"_blank");

  • OBIEE Dashboard URL is navigating to a different path than specified

    I have been using the Dashboard URL for some time now at a client with no problems. All of the sudden, something started happening that I am having trouble reproducing. I am essentially relying on SSO to authenticate the user, so I do not have the need to pass the username/password through the query string. All I am passing is this:
    http://foobar/analytics/saw.dll?PortalPages&PortalPath=/shared/Real Estate Reporting/_portal/REPORTS: Financial Reporting UAT/&Page=DR - 3&Action=Navigate
    All of the sudden, I started noticing an error:
    Path not found: /shared/Reporting Samples/_portal/Exective Dashboard/blah/blah
    I do not understand why the Dashboard URL is trying to traverse down the path above when it has nothing in the link referencing Reporting Samples or Executive Dashboard. Another quirk is if I navigate through the UI to the correct dashboard and then try and use the Dashboard URL, it will navigate to it just fine. Once I am able to get the Dashboard URL to work properly, it works for about 1 day, and then when I come into work in the morning, I get the Path not found error again.
    Does anyone have any insight into this? Again, it is completely random, and I wish I had more information on reproducing this issue, but I am having trouble pin pointing the problem.
    Thanks.

    It was built from a blank catalog.
    One thing is that the folder that contains all the dashboards that I am trying to point to is owned by a user (and this user is not me, it is the BI Developer). I am doing portal development and accessing OBIEE through web services. So essentially, I am traversing the web catalog and getting report paths so that I can build a dynamic Report List Portlet. This all works great, and the report paths are accessed fine.
    The problem arises when the browser actually tries to access the Dashboard through this URL (from an html <a> tag), it occasionally navigates to a completely different path (the one I mentioned above). Should I try setting my user as the owner of the web catalog folder? I am just hesitant to do that since I have full admin access to all the dashboards, and it doesn't seem like this would make a difference. Eventually, the web catalog folder will be owned by a service account.
    Thoughts?

  • Looking for correct syntax GO dashboard URL

    hi all,
    according to the Oracle BI EE Presentation Services Guide, the URL syntax for going to a dashboard URL is ...
    http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?GO&NQUser=Administrator&NQPassword=Administrator&Path=/shared/Paint%20Demo/_portal/Paint%20Dashboard
    but this does not work. The error I get is ...
    Object expected: /shared/Paint Demo/_portal/Paint Dashboard
    Error Details
    Error Codes: GCARFLCS
    I've tried substituting the %20 with an actual space or a + sign without any success. Any ideas on how this should work?

    In addition to what Bryan said, you can get the Dashboard Pages URL by using Dashboard and PortalPages parameters. I have examples here http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/11/13/oracle-bi-ee-101331-bookmark-and-prompted-links-passing-prompt-values-to-dashboards/ and here http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/11/01/oracle-bi-ee-101332-hiding-banner-in-dashboards-using-go-url/

  • Cisco LMS 4 IEFrame

    Hello,
    i have added a IEFrame in a LMS Dashboard containing some information about Cisco WCS. I works fine, just there is an issue when i open my Dashboard and I didn't start WCS before the IE Frame not showing the information. I tried to set the credentials in the IE Frame Configuration but still the same.
    Further i'd like to add some Ie Frames showing authentication trends from my ACS. But i have no idea how to get the correct URL from the ACS dashboards.
    appreciate any feedback
    alex

    You will likely need to login to WCS before the IFrame portlets will work.  I think prior versions of WCS provided the ability to use the credential interface within the portlet, but newer versions use a cookie/session based authentication mechanism.
    I don't have a recent version of ACS handy anymore to look at, but I don't recall seeing any widget-like constructs in 5.2.  What I typically do when I need to find URLs is right-click on pages or frames and get info.  The info window will contain the direct link.

  • Embedding a document in BI Publisher template

    I have created a BIP template and I have a requirement to include attachments in the template. These attachments (PDF format) are located in a different server and are supplied as URLs. So basically I need to display the documents embeded from URL into the BI Publisher report. I have managed to get it to work with Images (jpg, gif, png) by inserting a dummy image in the report and including this line of code in the Alt Text: url:{'http://www.test.com/photo1.jpg'}. However this method does not work with documents.
    I tried the following methods but they only work with images. They don't work with documents, i.e. pdf, doc, txt, etc:
    Method 1:
    <fo:external-graphic src="url('http://www.test.jsp?id=121342')"/>
    Method 2:
    <fo:instream-foreign-object content-type="application/pdf">
    <xsl:value-of select="http://www.test.jsp?id=121342"/>
    </fo:instream-foreign-object>
    I read something online about another method <fox:external-document content-type="pdf" src="url('http://www.test.jsp?id=121342')"/>. But I am not sure how to set this up in BI Publisher, because when I tried to use this method, BI Publisher was throwing an error saying forx:external-document not recognised.
    Does anyone know if there is a way of embeding documents read from URL in BI Publisher report?
    Many thanks,
    Agron
