Load balance xml config store

Hi
My environment is a workgroup, so failover clustering or other domain based solution are not suitable.
I want to make the xml config store highly available:
server1 and server2 will be behind a load balancer, both servers will have a file share named "AppFabricXmlCofigShare".
Assuming the virtual name for the load balanced point for the servers is "VirtualServer", can I configure AppFabric caching(using the AppFabric configuration wizard) to use the xml store and point to "\\VirtualServer\AppFabricXmlCofigShare"?
*Every update which I will make to the configuration(via PowerShell)
I will manually update on both server1 and server2 so they will be the same.
Logically, I can't think of a reason why it shouldn't work but here is my concern: Does AppFabric updates the config store by itself(without me initiating the update via PowerShell) for its own logic purposes?
Do you got any other concerns about this solution?

Status update:
This solution is now well tested and deployed in production, Just remember to update both xml files when you make changes.
For me it's a better solution than sql server based config, because AppFabric loads a lot faster after a server restarts when its config is xml than sql server based config.
I'm still waiting for feedback from some of the Microsoft support here regarding possible issues which may occur when using this solution.

  • XML Publisher Time out setup issue with load balancer

    I have a single node install of Oracle Apps 12.0.4. When running an XML report, it completes successfully and I can view the XML report by clicking on the "view output" button.
    I have an Oracle Apps 12.0.4 multi-node install with my database and admin tier running on the same box. I also have two app tiers front-ended with a cisco load balancer. In this environment, when I run an XML Report the job completes with a warning. I have reviewed the log file from the Output Post Processor log file and have the below errors.

  • Store Asymmetric Key Container In Load Balanced Cloud Environment

    I've been tasked with signing some data with the
    RSACryptoServiceProvider.SignData() Method. In order to generate the public and private key i've used the RSACryptoServiceProvider and passed a keycontainername in order to store the keys safely. 
    When i run the MSDN example
    to generate a set of public/private keys on my machine with the fixed keycontainername, the expected public / private keys are generated every time the same. 
    This will work fine on a single server environment, however, we are operating on an elastic environment where the servers are load balanced. If i encrypt the data with a private key on any one single machine and store this data in through the RSACryptoServiceProvider
    the data will only exist at the machine level. Each machine will use a different key to sign the data and the user of the public key won't be able to verify the signature. 
    Is it that important that i use the RSACryptoServiceProvider to store the private key, the example is explicit in that i should never store the key in a text file but why is this more of a risk than storing the keycontainername in a text file?

    Yes, It is important. Per my understanding, there is a X509Certificate2 class to create RSACryptoServiceProvider to get a private key. The certificate and private key itself would be kept in the
    Windows certificate store. You can then limit access to the private key through the certificate store to certain accounts.

  • How to config CSM load balance of http combined https

    In this case,when I config CSM for load balance http and https service separately was ok.2 VIPs , 2 Serverfarms, One for http , and one for https .But I found that the https would referred to http information on IIS , because when the client first to access http is ok,and then login by https ,the information is not right.So,how to config CSM in this case,any reply will be very be appreciated.

    There are 2 different ways.
    You could combine the 2 vserver into a single one by not specifying the tcp port.
    Another solution would be to use the same sticky group for both vservers.
    For example, you could use sticky srcip.
    ie:
    sticky 10 netmask /32 address source
    vserver http
    sticky 60 group 10
    inservice
    vserver https
    sticky 60 group 10

    EBS Release-12.1.3 ,
    Apps -2 nodes HA,
    Hardware load balancer-F5 in DMZ(Single Entry point for load balancing)
    We have chosen HTTP Layer Hardware Load Balancing for persistentant session config
    please advice that what kind of changes we need to do at the application level in order to implement Hardware load balancer like,
    Can we configure EBS application to run on 443 port ,so as to directly redirect appln url from hardware load balancer to 443 port of EBS application node.
    without reverse proxy configuration.
    If reverse proxy in DMZ is required then how hardware load balancing will be configure for http layer balancing between nodes.
    As we have iSupplier in internet connectivity,please suggest which kind of implementation we can go for.

    Not necessarily - it depends on how F5 is configured. As stated, one of the settings on the F5 allows traffic from the client to be addressed to the virtual URL on the F5 using port 443 (https), and the F5 can then direct traffic to the real application servers on the port on which EBS is configured. The return traffic from the application server back to the F5 uses the same EBS port, and when the F5 send the traffic back to the client it can use 443 - so as far as the client is concerned, it looks like the entire application is SSL enabled (using 443).
    If this setting is not configured in the F5, then EBS will have to be reconfigured to use 443 throughout.

    To get started, the best way is to test the sample applications and the best part is you don't require internet connection to follow each steps. Install iWS and iAS, open browser, type in http://hostname:port/ias-samples/index.html. You can find links to the sample applications bundled. Please follow the steps given on deploying the application. This will enable you to a higher level.

  • How to config in this architecture to achive load balance?

    We have a XI which has a dialog instance.now we use the XI to connect to R3 system using abap proxy and to a no-sap system using JDBC.
    no-sap sys(DB2)->JDBC adapter<-xi(CI+Di)->r3
    The question is how to achive load balance,using web-dispatcher or other method?

  • 11gR2 SCAN config with F5 load balancer

    We are getting ready to set up our first RAC 2-node configuration. The hardware had already been purchased before deciding to go with 11gR2. Therefore, we have an F5 load balancer. The question is...can we use the IP address of the F5 in the /etc/hosts file as the SCAN IP address? Would this get us around the need to have a DNS configured SCAN host name?
    Has anyone done this before?

    Welcome to the forum.
    I dont know works F5 Load Balancer.
    But i'll try...
    The question is...can we use the IP address of the F5 in the /etc/hosts file as the SCAN IP address?Oracle strongly recommends that you do not configure SCAN VIP addresses in the hosts file.
    But if you use the hosts file to resolve SCAN name, you can have only one SCAN IP address. You will not get full functionality of the SCAN.

    Would this get us around the need to have a DNS configured SCAN host name?If you want to use the SCAN feature, it is strongly recommended you use the DNS in your environment. This is my advice.

  • JMS load-balancing question

    Hello,
    When performing settings on JMS connection factory, one can set (check the "Load Balancing Enabled" option in the Configuration tab, Load Balance sub tab).
    In the help documentation, we can read:
    Specifies whether non-anonymous producers created through a connection factory are load balanced within a distributed destination on a per-call basis.
    *If enabled, the associated message producers are load balanced on every send() or publish() .+
    I have performed some tests and I don't see the expected behaviour that is to say load-balancing for each send or publish call.
    So first what does mean "non-anonymous producers" ? Does that mean that we have to create JMS connection with username/password arguments ? If yes, I have used the same credentials than the ones used for the admin console and again I don't see load-balancing on physical queues belonging to one distributed queue !
    Could you give, please, me advice on how to get the load-balancing working per send or publish call ?

  • Getting load-balancing with distributed destination to work...

    Hello,
              I try to setup a proof of concept for balancing heavy load over several JMS server instances on WLS 8.1 SP4:
              I have
              - 2 managed servers in 1 cluster plus adminserver on 1 machine (WinXP)
              - 1 JMS server on each server (no migrateable targets used), having 1 physical queue
              - 1 distributed queue deployed to the cluster, consisting of the two physical queues
              - 1 connection factory deployed to the cluster with round-robin load-balancing enabled, and server affinity disabled
              - 1 test JSP using the connection factory from above, doing a complete re-connection per test message
              - 1 MDB ejb module deployed to the cluster
              and the result is:
              1. Calling the JSP through the second server instance load-balances messages on both JMS servers, that's fine ...
              BUT
              2. Calling the JSP through the first server instance processes all messages on the first server instance's JMS server, no message is ever sent to the second server.
              What could be the reason for the different behaviour of both servers?

  • Distributed Queue - Unable To Load Balance Between Each Time A Send Method Is Called

              According to the JMS documentation, I should be able to get the
              distributed queue to load balance
              between each time the message producer calls Message.send(). I was not
              able to achieve this, however,
              I noticed the load balancing happens when a JMS client is stopped and
              restarted (meaning totally
              exit the JVM and restart the JVM).
              Here is my configuration:
              WLS 8.1 SP2 on XP
              One cluster with two nodes (running on the same machine w/ different port)
              Each node hosts one JMS server, which hosts one physical queue and using
              JDBC store
              One distributed queue with two physical members from each of the JMS
              server.
              JMS Connection Factory is configured with "Load Balancing Enabled" set to
              yes,
              and "Server Affinity Enabled" to no. This connection factory is target to
              the cluster.
              The queue session for the queue sender is created with transaction setting
              to false.
              Any hints and ideas would greatly appreciated.

  • How to use the Load Balancer Plug-in to serve multiple domains

    In SJSAS8.1 SE/EE the asadmin commands that create and maintain a load balancer configuration operate within a domain. When the load balancer configuration is exported an xml file is created that contains all the information for that domain. To make the load balancer plug-in balance the load for multiple domains, the loadbalancer.xml files can be manually merged to conatin the data that is exported from each domain's load balancer configuration.
    For example, 2 domains are created, both having a load balancing configuration. After exporting both configurations using the asadmin export-http-lb-config command, the user would then cut and past the cluster information into the single loadbalancer.xml file that resides under the web server's config directory.
    An example of the manually merged loadbalancer.xml file follows:

    My company has load balancers which use health checks to determine if the end point is available for client traffic. The basic health check is a tcp ping, and will tell you if the device is on the network. The next level of health check is an http request. This request, and the response are static, you can’t create your own version of the request and response. The standard request is this:

    The standard response is this:
         “The server is available”
    I want to use the load balancer as part of my total deployment. The problem is that I am not seeing how to support this health check request and response in the MDEX engine. What I see is this request

    In a standard tc Server install I can support this health check by doing this:
    * Create a directory named “healthcheck”, in the “webapps” directory.
    * Place a file name “hc.html” in that directory, which contains “The server is available”
    The one hack which comes to mind is to write a servlet which would be able to be a smart proxy for the load balancer health check. It would pass along any regular traffic to the MDEX engine. But if the request was a health check it would send “admin?op=ping” to the MDEX engine, and for a good response from the engine, create and pass back the correct response to the load balancer.
