Load external content

Hello everyone
I want to know that with flex mobile development can we load external content like unity3d, .apk or .ipa, video files or html file from sd card or internal memory of device.If possible then some one can please tell me how to do this or possible. Can i use same project for android, ios and blackberry platform.
Thanking you

Chris,
Thank you for the information, that is very helpful and certainly gets me in the right direction.  I have one other question and cannot seem to find the answer on this forum or by search the Internet. One of the features that Air 2 is suppose to have is the ability to print w/o showing the dialog.  Any idea where an example of that is?
Please forgive me if I overlooked it but I have spent some time looking for this and could not find something or could not see how it was done via the docs.
Thanks again!
Jason

  • Flash cs4 mac - Error opening URL '/:Users:someting.swf' - Not a "loading external content" problem

    Hello.
    I am having a weird problem when trying to test a movie or publish preview -> flash on mac with Leopard os.
    The result is a blank movie with the usuall "movie not loaded" if u right click on it and the output returns the "Error opening URL 'the path of the swf here'.
    This has nothing to do with loading external files or something like that. It happens even in blank movies and it gives the same error if I try to open a swf from flash ide.
    I can publish the project or export the movie with no problem at all.
    I can preview the movie in html. I can run all the swf files in my hard disk, network, usb stick, dvd etc., but when I try to open any of these files from flash ide I got that stupid error.
    Its not something that stops me from working in flash ide but its slow to export movie any time I want to test it.
    Things that I've tried so far but nothing worked:
    Update the flash cs4 to the latest version
    Update the flash players
    Restored the release flash player as default player (I am using as default the debug player)
    Cleared the preferences
    Move the flash cs4 folder to another location in hd
    Saved the fla document first before testing the movie (in different places with or without spaces in document name or folder)
    Give read & write permissions for everyone for flash.app, players and for fla files when saved first before test movie
    Unistall and install the application 3-4 times.
    Test every as version just in case.
    Also I've checked the folders when testing movie and I can see that it creates an swf file, which I can run it outside flash ide (the one that the flash ide player cannot load) with no problem.
    The mac os has the default set up as it came. Nothing chnaged in permissions or security settings.
    Thanx in advance.

    In this particular example I am using this code to start the
    xml file load:
    // now load the XML file that contains the content strings
    var sXMLFile:String = "xml/home.xml";
    var xmlContent:XML = new XML();
    xmlContent.ignoreWhite = true;
    xmlContent.onLoad = onXMLLoadComplete;
    xmlContent.load( sXMLFile );
    But I don’t think the code is the problem here . This
    happens on every file I load when I am using a relative path to the
    content, regardless of how I load the content (XML object,
    loadMovie, MovieClipLoader, etc…) and the same code executes
    perfectly on every other machine in the office(Mac and PC).
    I’m more concerned with the semi-colons and .swf filename
    that Flash is putting into my relative path on the error message.
    Is that normal?

  • Net stream glitch when loading external content

    I have a program that plays an FLV using netStream and has cue points embedded which trigger the loading of external graphics.  If the code for loading the external graphics is commented out the video plays normally.  However, if the code to load the external graphics is left in, each time a graphic is loaded the video appears to stop and start.  Has anyone experienced similar issues and/or have any suggestions.
    FYI, I built the program using a FLVplayback instance on stage and there is no glitch when the images load, but I have a lot of other things built using the nestStream class so I'd prefer to do it that way.

    In considering kglad's comment about streaming capacity I starting running a brief test whereby the external graphics would be loaded into the flash file and attached using the attachMovie method rather than loaded using the loadMovie method.  In doing so, I found the offending code.
    The code was borrowed from a previous program that streamed a number of videos of different sizes.  To make a long story short, for that project I was setting the video player visibility to false each time a new video loaded and this was done where the loader was given the loadMovie command.  Visibility was turned on when the loader issued the onLoadComplete call.  So I got exactly what I was asking for a momentary interruption in the visibility of the video.

  • I want to load external content, which is a dynamic animation containing scripts js and css.

    Edge Animate CC 2014 - code (eg. compositionReady). How to enter the code to work.
    Edge Animate - compositionReady
    sym.$("container01").load("page.html #box01");
    This is the file to be loaded - page.htm
    <head>
    <script src="http://example.com/inc/carousel.js?ver=4.1"></script>
    </head>
    Body
    <body>
    <div id="box01">
    <style type="text/css" media="screen">
      #box01 { height: 1%; margin: 30px 0 0; overflow:hidden; position: relative; padding: 0 50px 10px;   }
      </style>
    <script>
    jQuery(document).ready(function(){jQuery('#gallery').carousel({ buttons: true, interval: true, });});
    </script>
    </div>
    </body>
    On the page.html and ID = "box01" is dynamic content (gallery)
    which loads a by means of an additional js script.
    How do I load the page to see it animate edge?
    I load through an iframe, but I need only a part of the page. So one div.
    Something is missing, as in this writing is not working.
    Is loaded into the container only one photo and no animation offset.
    I greet.

    If you're using Fluid Grid Layouts, none of these methods will work.  I think the very best you can do is determine the min-height required for desktops & tablets.  Mobile devices don't need min-height because those divisions will stack on top of each other.
    To illustrate with a working example,
    http://alt-web.com/FluidGrid/Fluid2.html
    The relevant CSS code:
    /* Special Rules for Tablets */
    @media only screen and (min-width: 481px) {
    .gridContainer >div {min-height: 255px;}
    /* Special Rules for Desktops */
    @media only screen and (min-width: 1025px) {
    .gridContainer >div {min-height: 325px;}

  • Flash CD loading external content (in the CD) adress problem

    Hi
    I have a CD and have all my files in it and I want to load them into my flash file, how can I do it?

    Hi
    Thanks for the help, really, but I`ve foudn my solution now...
    I had tryed this once, but it didn`t work, I don`t know why. But all I need  to do is load within a movie clip (not components) with the function:
    MyInstanceName.loadMovie ("Img/MyExternalImage.jpg");
    But thanks anyway

  • I can't load some content from my external hard drive to itunes,

    I can't load some content from 1 of my external hard drive to itunes, it can see it and try to load the folder / files but it doesn't appear, these files worked recently as some of them are currently on my ipod touch - I had to factory restore my laptop this week (virus) so have been trying to put everything back on to sync ipod - any ideas???

    To delete files from your external HDD, attach it to your MBP and drag the unwanted files to trash and then empty trash.
    Then you select the files that you want to transfer by 'drag and drop' to the external HDD and trash the files on your MBP.
    Ciao.

  • Unable to load external local content

    I have Flash 8 Professional on Windows Vista 64-bit and I am
    trying to load external SWF's into my main Flash SWF. The content
    will load correctly in the trusted test movie environment but will
    not load the local content in a published local sandbox mode that
    runs inside of a browser. The odd thing is that the XML loader
    actually loads the XML file sitting in the local directories but
    for some reason it will not load the external SWF's. Anyone have an
    idea why this might be happening?
    I've pasted the code that will hopefully help in determining
    the problem. The following is the traced print out of my debugging
    info...
    quote:
    scorm.connect(): true
    scorm.set('cmi.core.lesson_status', 'incomplete'): true
    scorm.get('cmi.core.student_id'): User01
    scorm.get('cmi.core.student_name'): Student, Joe
    loading page 0
    scorm.set('cmi.core.lesson_location', '0'): true
    [Data:onLoad] Success
    [Data:parseXML] Parsing XML...
    [Preloader:loadFrame] Loading frame...
    mcLoader.loadClip() succeeded
    [Preloader:onLoadStart] _level0.content_mc.mcFrame0
    [Preloader:onLoadError] Error Code:LoadNeverCompleted HTTP
    Status:0

    Since that error points to gallery fla, it may mean the problem is inside the gallery swf file.  What you should do is go into your Publish Setings and select the option to Permit Debugging.  THat will help by attaching the line number of the problemed code.  You might find it is of a line number greater than any you have in the file doing the oading which would probably make it more definitie that its the file you are loading.
    Just in case you copied and pasted, the following line should have thrown up a syntax error due to missing a parenthesis...
    loader.load(new URLRequest("gallery.swf");

  • Disabling external content loading in Webengine

    I'm trying to utilize Webengine to load a local file, but do not want to load any other objects references in it (such as images). Looking through several websites, and this forum, I could not find any way for that purpose.
    Regardless of utilizing Load, or LoadContent, my program always tries to load the images.
    I appreciate any leads on how to disable loading the external content.
    Thanks in advance.

    I appreciate any leads on how to disable loading the external content.Two options:
    1. Disconnect the internet.
    2. Implement your own url protocol handler: http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/protocolhandlers/
    Hint => option 1 is easier . . .

  • Loading external .swf content using a button in CS5 AS3

    My project has about 400 independent files. It was originally created in AS2 using the following script.
    on (release){
    loadMovie("A_002.swf", _root);
    This same script is used every time I need to load the following .swf movie.
    I would like to use a similar (equivalent) script using AS3. (Please note that the objective is not to load dynamic content into a particular file as when creating a "Gallery". My objective is for the new loaded movie to applear in its own screen. At the same time the file on scree shall unload completely or dissapear.
    I have been trying to achieve the above result for a long time with no luck. I mean a long time a couple of months. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!

    I have tried the following:
    back_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, mouseClick);
    function mouseClick(event:MouseEvent): void {
    varLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    loader.load(newURLRequest("file_to_be_loaded.swf"));
    addChild(loader);
    This script loads the file. However, it loads on top of the loader file. My goal is that once the called file loads up, the previous file will leave the screen leaving only the loaded file.
    NOTE: The objective is not to build a gallery. This optionn is used instead ob having 400 different scenes. Each .swf shall be loaded independently of all other .swf/s.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Unloading a loaded external SWF with a close button on the external SWF to unload

    I have found some discussion on this topic but I am still having trouble getting it to work and was hoping to get some help here.
    Here I have a file: http://www.dril-quip.com/test/main.swf
    I have: main.swf (a menu) and I have module.swf (content)
    If you navigate to Subsea Wellhead Systems/SS-15 BigBore II and click on that I have it load an external swf which covers most of the parent.
    So far so good. My problem is unloading the loaded 'Child' swf with the button provided on the loaded 'Child' swf.
    below is the code I used to load the file but I cant, for the life of me, find a way to unload it.
    var bigboreLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    btnbb2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, bigborecontent);
    function bigborecontent(event:MouseEvent):void{
    var bigboreRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("moduletemplate.swf");
    bigboreLoader.load(bigboreRequest);
    stage.addChild(bigboreLoader);
    I am certain it requires the Child to communicate with the parent somehow but I am at a loss. If I could get a bit of advice or a link to something deal with this, it would be a big help. I just need to have my links load my modules and the remove them when the close buttong is hit on the loaded swf. I promise I have done searches and I admit I have found asnwers but still they are not working. I found the code below:
    Main FLA:
    function removeF() {
    removeChild(bigboreLoader);
    var bigboreLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    btnbb2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, bigborecontent);
    function bigborecontent(event:MouseEvent):void{
    var bigboreRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("moduletemplate.swf");
    bigboreLoader.load(bigboreRequest);
    stage.addChild(bigboreLoader);
    EXTERNAL FLA:
    btnClose2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, bigborecontent);
    function bigborecontent(myevent:MouseEvent):void {
    MovieClip(parent.parent).removeF();
    I think I have a misunderstanding of the code. Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.

    This was the original code I got:
    Main FLA: (on AS layer inside DropDownButton Movie Object)
    function removeF() {
    removeChild(myLoader);
    var myLoader:Loader=new Loader ();
    page1_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, page1content);
    function page1content(myevent:MouseEvent):void {
    var myURL:URLRequest=new URLRequest("page1.swf");
    myLoader.load(myURL);
    addChild(myLoader);
    EXTERNAL FLA: (on main time line of this file)
    close_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, closeMC);
    function closeMC(myevent:MouseEvent):void {
    MovieClip(parent.parent).removeF();
    Main.FLA
    myLoader=bigboreLoader (my new loader)
    page1_mc=btnbb2 (the button who event will call external swf)
    page1content = bigborecontent (name given to SWF being loaded???)
    myURL=bigboreRequest (my new URLrequest for bigbore)
    page1.swf=moduletemplate.swf (actual address of what I am loading)
    External.FLA
    close_mc=button that will close external swf
    closeMC=movie clip to close?

  • Loaded external swf vs CPU usage

    Halo.   I use the following code in order to load external "inde_2.swf" into "index.swf":    (for Flash Player 9.0)
    stop();
    var myMovie:Sprite;
    var l:Loader = new Loader();
    l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loop, false, 0, true);
    l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done, false, 0, true);
    l.load(new URLRequest("index.swf"));
    function loop(e:ProgressEvent):void
      var perc:Number = e.bytesLoaded / e.bytesTotal;
      loader.percent.text = Math.ceil(perc*100).toString();
    function done(e:Event):void
      removeChildAt(0) // was removeChildAt(0) but it make more sense this way
      loader.percent = null;
      myMovie = Sprite(l.content);
      addChild(myMovie);
      var container:MovieClip = MovieClip(l.content);
       addChild(container);
       container.gotoAndStop(890);
      l.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener( ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loop);
      l.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done);
      l = null;
    But unfortunately if "index.swf" is a complex file (with many objects etc.) , the loaded "index_2.swf" will play very slow (high CPU usage).
    Is there any trick to unload "index.swf" so that "index_2" can play properly?

    if index_2.swf is a resource hog, there's nothing you can do in index.swf to fix that.  on the other hand, you should clean up your index.swf code:
    var l:Loader = new Loader();
    l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loop, false, 0, true);
    l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done, false, 0, true);
    l.load(new URLRequest("index.swf"));
    function loop(e:ProgressEvent):void
      var perc:Number = e.bytesLoaded / e.bytesTotal;
      loader.percent.text = Math.ceil(perc*100).toString();
    function done(e:Event):void
      removeChildAt(0) // <-not sure this makes sense.  what are you removing?
      loader.percent = null;
      var container:MovieClip = MovieClip(l.content);
       addChild(container);
       container.gotoAndStop(890);
      l.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener( ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loop);
      l.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done);
      l = null;

    The loaded swf has a stop() an intro animation and on the last frame have.
    dispatchEvent(new Event("removeMe", true));

    your isse begins here ..
    loadSection()
    you use the same loader to not only load files but you are tyring to use it to target the movieClip you also want to play.
    The issue is loader.  The loader can only reference one load at a time.. otherwise you screw up your listeners and the ability to unload files properly.
    You should load all files in Your current system as its own variable so that while one loads you can still control a movie.
    So what type of end transitions do your files have?
    What exactly with this seems like youre getting an issue.. looking at it looks alright aside from the fact that some methods are not used at all by your class

  • Loading external movies differently

    I am making a web site with several pages that the content
    will load as an external movie. Right now I have all loading with
    the nav buttons "on release". The first page loads through one
    blank clip and the rest in another. What I would like to do is have
    the first external page/clip content load with the main page and
    also reload with the nav button if someone wishes to return and
    leave the other buttons to remain loading each pages external
    content like they are now. So is there a way to get the first pages
    content to load both ways? This is what the code for the first
    button looks like now :
    on (release) {
    //load Movie Behavior
    if(this.aboutext == Number(this.aboutext)){
    loadMovieNum("aboutus.swf",this.aboutext);
    } else {
    this.aboutext.loadMovie("aboutus.swf");
    //End Behavior
    //unload Movie Behavior
    if(this.blk == Number(this.blk)){
    unloadMovieNum(this.blk);
    } else {
    this.blk.unloadMovie();
    //End Behavior

  • Using the External Content Type as a column lookup

    Hi.
    I am working on a solution that will get data from a web service (third party) and create a list in SharePoint Online (Office365 E3 subscription). The use a column from that list as a lookup column for another list. The reason for this is to allow updates
    on the third party data source to update the list in Office 365.
    Using SPD 2013, I created that external content type then created the list. However, due to the limitations on BCS (which I just learned after googling it) that the only thing I can use from this column is the ID column.
    Has anyone found a work around on the matter? I was thinking of just creating a list app then load the bcs data to it. My problem will be how to update the list every so often.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to use the External Content Type as a column lookup.
    Per my knowleage, you can select all the columns in the external list.
    You can create a lookup column in the list as below:
    If you select Name, then you can get the Name column as below:
    There is an article for your reference, although it is about the SharePoint 2010, it still works for SharePoint Online 2013.

  • Load external image and animate?

    This may be a naive question, but -
    What is the best method to draw external content (an image
    file) into a Flash movie, AND then ANIMATE that content?
    I assumed I would need to use the LOADER COMPONENT to draw an
    image file from an external URL, but is there a way to then perform
    a simple animation (e.g., slide the image across the stage) with
    the loaded image? I cannot seem to figure out how to manipulate an
    image once loaded (using the LOADER COMPONENT).
    Yes, I am new to Flash, so there may be six other ways to do
    this of which I am not aware.
    Suggestions/solutions?

    use the MovieClipLoader class to load the image into a holder
    movie clip, then use the onLoadInit function to animate the holder
    clip.
