Hello everyone
I want to know that with flex mobile development can we load external content like unity3d, .apk or .ipa, video files or html file from sd card or internal memory of device.If possible then some one can please tell me how to do this or possible. Can i use same project for android, ios and blackberry platform.
Thanking youChris,
Thank you for the information, that is very helpful and certainly gets me in the right direction. I have one other question and cannot seem to find the answer on this forum or by search the Internet. One of the features that Air 2 is suppose to have is the ability to print w/o showing the dialog. Any idea where an example of that is?
Please forgive me if I overlooked it but I have spent some time looking for this and could not find something or could not see how it was done via the docs.
Thanks again!

Hello.
I am having a weird problem when trying to test a movie or publish preview -> flash on mac with Leopard os.
The result is a blank movie with the usuall "movie not loaded" if u right click on it and the output returns the "Error opening URL 'the path of the swf here'.
This has nothing to do with loading external files or something like that. It happens even in blank movies and it gives the same error if I try to open a swf from flash ide.
I can publish the project or export the movie with no problem at all.
I can preview the movie in html. I can run all the swf files in my hard disk, network, usb stick, dvd etc., but when I try to open any of these files from flash ide I got that stupid error.
Its not something that stops me from working in flash ide but its slow to export movie any time I want to test it.
Things that I've tried so far but nothing worked:
Update the flash cs4 to the latest version
Update the flash players
Restored the release flash player as default player (I am using as default the debug player)
Cleared the preferences
Move the flash cs4 folder to another location in hd
Saved the fla document first before testing the movie (in different places with or without spaces in document name or folder)
Give read & write permissions for everyone for flash.app, players and for fla files when saved first before test movie
Unistall and install the application 3-4 times.
Test every as version just in case.
Also I've checked the folders when testing movie and I can see that it creates an swf file, which I can run it outside flash ide (the one that the flash ide player cannot load) with no problem.
The mac os has the default set up as it came. Nothing chnaged in permissions or security settings.
Thanx in advance.In this particular example I am using this code to start the
xml file load:
// now load the XML file that contains the content strings
var sXMLFile:String = "xml/home.xml";
var xmlContent:XML = new XML();
xmlContent.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlContent.onLoad = onXMLLoadComplete;
xmlContent.load( sXMLFile );
But I don’t think the code is the problem here . This
happens on every file I load when I am using a relative path to the
content, regardless of how I load the content (XML object,
loadMovie, MovieClipLoader, etc…) and the same code executes
perfectly on every other machine in the office(Mac and PC).
I’m more concerned with the semi-colons and .swf filename
that Flash is putting into my relative path on the error message.
Is that normal? -
Flash Player Loads Some Content, But Not All
Hi, this problem recently cropped up and I don't really
understand what the underlying problem is. Anyway, the main problem
with the flash player is that it only partially works--some content
loads, while others don't. The only examples I can think of off the
top of my head right now is: www.orisinal.com--the page loads fine,
but when loading a flash game, it simply stalls on the load.
Another one is www.starcraft2.com and www.diablo3.com. For the
former, the areas in which images/screenshots should be placed show
nothing. The main menu interface is a still image of a door.
Nothing is clickable. This is what similarly happens to the latter
site. The odd thing is, other sites using flash such as youtube,
gamespot, and others work fine. These problems occur BOTH in
Firefox and IE.
I've tried numerous things. Uninstalling/reinstalling in and
out of safe mode, using Adobe's uninstaller, deleting leftover
registry keys after uninstallation and then reinstalling, following
the SubInACL procedures listed here on the forums, but all of them
lead to the same result. Any help would be appreciated.Possibly the cache and/or settings that are stored on your

retrying. -
Bring loaded external swf to the front
Hi,
I am now implementing to create a website using side scrolling platform game approach. Since the player/actor (character that moves according to keyborad events) should always be at the top layer, I am having difficulties to get my loaded swf on top of the player. I am currently using Flash cs6 (as3).
Basically, in my main stage, there are 3 layers. 1 for actionscript, the scond one for player and lastly for background.
Layer player contains player mc and background mc.
Background mc contains visual and collisions layers.
Anything that got to do with visual, i have to put it in visual layer.
In visual layer i have backgroundcontainer mc
So, as i put the button in the backgroundcontainer mc to call the external swf, the loaded external swf appears in the container.
(I am using load/unload snippet code to call the external swf)
I want the external swf to appear on top of the player.
for (var fl_ChildIndex_2:int = 0;
fl_ChildIndex_2 < this.numChildren;
fl_ChildIndex_2++)
this.getChildAt(fl_ChildIndex_2).addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToBringToFront_2);
function fl_ClickToBringToFront_2(event:MouseEvent):void
this.addChild(event.currentTarget as DisplayObject);
Any help would greatly appreciatedIf you want an object to move atop all others you can just use addChild(thatobject), where thatobject is the item you want to move atop anything else. I don't know what object(s) your loop is attempting to act on, but it appears to be trying to change the index of all child objects rather than just one.

Net stream glitch when loading external content
I have a program that plays an FLV using netStream and has cue points embedded which trigger the loading of external graphics. If the code for loading the external graphics is commented out the video plays normally. However, if the code to load the external graphics is left in, each time a graphic is loaded the video appears to stop and start. Has anyone experienced similar issues and/or have any suggestions.
FYI, I built the program using a FLVplayback instance on stage and there is no glitch when the images load, but I have a lot of other things built using the nestStream class so I'd prefer to do it that way.In considering kglad's comment about streaming capacity I starting running a brief test whereby the external graphics would be loaded into the flash file and attached using the attachMovie method rather than loaded using the loadMovie method. In doing so, I found the offending code.
The code was borrowed from a previous program that streamed a number of videos of different sizes. To make a long story short, for that project I was setting the video player visibility to false each time a new video loaded and this was done where the loader was given the loadMovie command. Visibility was turned on when the loader issued the onLoadComplete call. So I got exactly what I was asking for a momentary interruption in the visibility of the video. -
Flash CS4 loader class content not displaying in browser
Hello,
I'm very new at Dreamweaver and actionscript so any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'm on a PC and created a simple gallery in flash cs4 to load images on a button click. The images are being loaded with a loader class. When I test the gallery in flash the images load correctly. However, I inserted the .swf into Dreamweaver and when I uploaded the page onto the server, the buttons and the animation worked correctly, but none of the images were being displayed. I tested it in both Firefox and IE and it did not work in either browser.
I thought maybe the files were in the incorrect location, but everything is in the same file, including the .swf and the images. I'm also using TweenMax and all those files are also together with the .swf.
I also ensured that I had the latest version of the Flash player, but it still is not working.
Thank you!Thank you for the quick response! I am not actually using XML - I am loading the images from a folder. Here is my code:
function clicker(e:MouseEvent):void
var myMC:MovieClip = e.currentTarget as MovieClip;
switch(myMC.name){
case"_button1":
loader.load(new URLRequest("imgs/image01.jpg"));
break;
case"_button2":
loader.load(new URLRequest("imgs/image02.jpg"));
break;
//loader class
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,placeimage,false,0,true);
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR,errorhandler,false,0,true) ;
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS,preload,false,0,true);
this.addChild(loader);
//handler for the loader
function errorhandler(e:IOErrorEvent):void
trace(e);
function preload(e:ProgressEvent):void
trace(e.bytesLoaded);
The imgs folder is in the same folder as my .swf and has been uploaded. Could there be something wrong with the links? -
Edge Animate CC 2014 - code (eg. compositionReady). How to enter the code to work.
Edge Animate - compositionReady
sym.$("container01").load("page.html #box01");
This is the file to be loaded - page.htm
<head>
<script src="http://example.com/inc/carousel.js?ver=4.1"></script>
</head>
Body
<body>
<div id="box01">

</script>
</div>
</body>
On the page.html and ID = "box01" is dynamic content (gallery)
which loads a by means of an additional js script.
How do I load the page to see it animate edge?
I load through an iframe, but I need only a part of the page. So one div.
Something is missing, as in this writing is not working.
Is loaded into the container only one photo and no animation offset.
I greet.If you're using Fluid Grid Layouts, none of these methods will work. I think the very best you can do is determine the min-height required for desktops & tablets. Mobile devices don't need min-height because those divisions will stack on top of each other.
To illustrate with a working example,
http://alt-web.com/FluidGrid/Fluid2.html
The relevant CSS code:
/* Special Rules for Tablets */
@media only screen and (min-width: 481px) {
.gridContainer >div {min-height: 255px;}
/* Special Rules for Desktops */
@media only screen and (min-width: 1025px) {
.gridContainer >div {min-height: 325px;}

10.6.3 and flash not loading some content (Evony fails to load)
I the past 2 weeks i have had a number of problems when loading some flash based objects. Most facebook flash game, etc. work but objects like Evony and longer flash videos fail as well.
This happens in Safari, Firefox, Camino and Chrome
I have trashed the prefs of all browsers and flash and I have uninstalled flash with no luck.
Any ideas? Thanks.Well the setting did nothing at all for the problem.
After all that, Adobe uninstall does crap all if you have Flash Install (not Flash player) as there are copies in the Flash folder.
I trashed the Player folder that was in the Flash folder, restarted, found the 10,0,45,2 installer (not the default download on the site), restart off the snow leopard disk, permissions repair (twice) and away i go with no problems. -
"An error has occurred loading this content check the source and try again"
I get this message about every 20 or 30 minutes in front row and have to disconnect all users and have to restart iPhoto 08. Im sharing the same library from the same external GRaid to 5 mac minis and all of them lock up at the same time. Is this an iphoto issue? Is this a case of too many users or should I create an alias in each mac mini or what?
We are using front row 2.1.6 to browse pictures from a iPhoto 08 library created in a Graid using firewire 400 through a Mac Mini running OS 10.5.6. It comes out ethernet from the mac mini to a Netgear 24 port gigabit switch which is used to share out to 5 mac minis. We have 8 other mac minis hooked into this switch but they are not used for the browsing of photos or front row in any way. These 8 mac minis are used for burning dvds. I tried to explain it as much as possible let me know if more info is needed.Are you using Front Row to browse your pictures or just iPhoto? (iPhoto doesn't open behind Front Row in Leopard, so it's not clear to me why you'd have to restart iPhoto.)
Which version of Mac OS X are you using? Is everything up-to-date, including Mac OS X, Front Row, QuickTime and iPhoto? How is everything connected? USB? FireWire? Ethernet? Wi-Fi? What happens if you whittle down the configuration to just one Mac mini accessing the library?

FAQ: SWF's and loading external files in Flash Catalyst
How do I make the images in my Flash Catalyst project external to the published SWF?
You can choose whether images are embedded in your Flash Catalyst SWF, or loaded dynamically; this can help to keep your SWF's small. Simply right-click an image and chose "Externalize Image".
Answered by: Adam Cath.

How do I make the SWF I imported to Flash Catalyst load external files?
When importing a SWF, Flash Catalyst only pulls the SWF asset into your project. Many SWF's, such as slideshows and media players, rely on external data files, such as configuration files or media assets. If you would like to use such a SWF in Catalyst, then you will have to place these external resources into your Catalyst project as well as importing the SWF.
Let's assume you have a SWF source folder that contains your SWF file and all of the external files it needs. You can open the SWF file from this folder and it works fine. But, if you import the SWF into Catalyst, the Catalyst project doesn't display it correctly because it can't load the external files. Here's what you do:
1. Open your swf source folder, and copy all of the files/folders there except the SWF you imported.
2. In Catalyst, Run/Preview your project (Ctl/Cmd-Enter)
2. Note the file path to Main.html in your browser
3. In your OS, open the folder that contains /bin-debug/Main.html from above
4. Open the "src" folder
5. Paste all of the files from step 1 into the src folder.
6. Catalyst won't pick up that your project changed, so tweak it a bit (add a Rectangle), and save it.
7. Run your project. If it doesn't work, try closing and reopening your project and running again.
For an example, check out: Using an XML-driven SWF in Catalyst to create a slideshow.

Answered by: Bear TravisYou can make you swf a custom component with 2 states.
The first state will be empty and rename it "OFF" the second state will have your swf file and name it ON.
Then go back to your artboard/project, add your 2 buttons ON & OFF.
For the ON button add interaction "play transition to custom component ON"
For the OFF button add interaction "play transition to custom component OFF"
Here is an example swf_control -

you use the same loader to not only load files but you are tyring to use it to target the movieClip you also want to play.
The issue is loader. The loader can only reference one load at a time.. otherwise you screw up your listeners and the ability to unload files properly.
You should load all files in Your current system as its own variable so that while one loads you can still control a movie.
So what type of end transitions do your files have?
What exactly with this seems like youre getting an issue.. looking at it looks alright aside from the fact that some methods are not used at all by your class -
Loading External SWF - Problem
Hi,
Using MovieClipLoader I want to load external SWFs - and it
is working fine
if external swf doesn't have anything outside it's stage,
otherwise it shows
everything - that's the problem.
For example, external swf's stage dimensions are 100x150, but
it has some
timeline animation (some objects scrolling through the stage,
some bouncing
text animation that sometimes goes off-stage, etc..).
So when I load this external movie (banner.swf), I can see
all these objects
that were bouncing outside this 100x150 area (the stage of
banner). Even
more - the size of loaded movie is larger than 100x150px
(because of these
off-stage objects that are now visible). This way I'm getting
positioning
problems, too.
var mcl:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
mcl.loadClip("banner.swf", holder);
mcl.addListener(listener);
holder._x = Stage.width/2 - holder._width/2;
holder._y = Stage.height/2 - holder._height/2;
Thanks in advance,
B.Hi kglad,
Does doing that takes only into account width and height of the stage, or also considers off stage items (as in the initial question)?
I am also looking at this issue and we can't have all the content providers modify their pre-existing flash applications to be displayed in the appropiate scale. We are looking to any of the following:
find a way to get adobe air/flash to not consider the off stage elements on the width/height we set to the movie.
find a way to get the stage size from the external movie and use that to auto calculate the resize needed.
any other alternative that allows to have the same end result, which is loading up the external content at the size we specify and displaying well. We can actually hide content outside the stage, but we still need to know the appropiate scale / size to apply to the movie so what's visible matches the are where we want to show the content. -
Importing flash with AS3 external files
developing a ui in flash for photo gallery which I am loading
into dreamweaver.
using as3 in flash to load external photo files so not all
having to download on opening.
have had no problem in dreamweaver with swfs with embedded

ui comes up in dreamweaver but not external files. even
though when I open swf movie or the flash created html of same
file, on its own, no prob.
anyone run across this problem, jpgs are in same file as
flash media, also dropped them into image file just in case that
might work---no go
any ideas ?Post a link to the page, please.
