Load Movieclip where Mouse was clicked

Hello,
I got a request to have a "ripple" animation play where the
mouse was clicked (like the application is in a puddle) and i am
using AS2 in CS3 and i am not able to get this to work (and really
surprised i havent ever come across this before). I would like to
just load an instance of my "ripple_mc" out of the library where
and when the mouse is clicked.
i have searched for some tutorials but cant seem to find what
i am looking for, if anyone can point me to a tutorial or throw
some code down for me i would really appreciate it
thanks in advance!

i put an invisible button in the background and an empty
movieclip with the instance name "loader_mc" on the stage with the
following actions on the button:
on(release){
loader_mc._x=_xmouse;
loader_mc._y=_ymouse;
loader_mc.attachMovie("ripple", "new", 200);
i would like to eliminate the invisible button and have
multiple insances of "ripple" able to happen at once...
the above fla can be downloaded here:

thanks!

  • Drawning a line where mouse is clicked

    Basically, I am doing an application where the user clicks on an icon and draws a line according to the points clicked (using getX & getY). My problem is how to make the application wait for the user to click so that the coordinates are updated accordingly. Can somebody help?
    Thank you.

    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent evt1){
             p5.repaint();
                if (linebutton== true){
                  ptx1 = evt1.getX(); //source x-coordinate
                  pty1 = evt1.getY(); // source y-coordinate
                  System.out.print(ptx1 +", " + pty1);
                  l2.setText("Please select destination");Now if I put ptx2 = evt1.getX() and pty2 = evt1.getY() after the setText, the same coordinates as before are going to be taken. This is what I mean by the program has to wait for the user to click again. I am confused about this.
    Thanks.

  • Component mouse was clicked in

    Hi all,
    I have an array of JTextFields, which represent setup names in my program.
    I override isManagingFocus so that I can determine which one has focus if the user tabs thru the JTextFields. This is working.
    I need to determine when the user mouse clicks into the textfield which textfield the mouse clicked in because in my program that will be the current setup name.
    TIA,
    Pat

    I had an error in my code was the problem.
    Here is how I implemented it.
       setupNameTextField[setupArrayCount].addFocusListener(new FocusAdapter(){
          public void focusGained (FocusEvent e) {
             System.out.println("setupNameTextField["+setupArrayCount+"] gained focus");
             findSetupNameTextFieldThatOwnsFocus();
       public void findSetupNameTextFieldThatOwnsFocus() {
          setupNameTextFieldOwningFocus =0;
          int count =0;
          for (count = 0;count<setupArrayCount;count++) {
             if (setupNameTextField[count].hasFocus()) {
                setupNameTextFieldOwningFocus = count;
                System.out.println("current setup count = "+setupNameTextFieldOwningFocus);
                break;

  • Loading MovieClips.

    I'm quite new to ActionScript and wondered what the best way
    to load a MovieClip was. I wanted to have a button that loaded an
    already created MovieClip when it was clicked on and then also have
    a button inside the MovieClip that would 'close' it when that was
    clicked.

    don't load into _level0 unless you want to replace your main
    swf and everything else with your external swf.
    you can also load into a target movieclip that's in your main
    swf using loadMovie() or using the moviecliploader class with its
    loadClip method. but, for your needs, it would be simpler to use
    loadMovieNum.

  • Mouse wheel click doesn't open new tabs correctly?

    Since upgrading to FF4, whenever I mouse click a bookmark on my bookmark toolbar, it will open a blank new tab with the URL in the address line, but will not load the page. I have to select the URL in the address line and press enter, or press the green arrow button. Shouldn't web pages automatically load once I mouse wheel click on a bookmark?
    any suggestions?

    Alan McClean has alluded to the cause of this behaviour but I think others would benefit from a full explanation because it doesn't appear to be documented. I might add that Business Objects support were no help at all on this (they suggested I had a problem with my mouse, PC or network which I don't).
    Normal response to a mouse double-click on a document name in InfoView XI3:
    The double-click action performs the default action on the right-click list. This is the option you see in bold when you right-click on a document name. The default action is 'View' document. So when you double-click on the document it opens for viewing.
    In CMC, under Applications>InfoView if you set 'Default viewing action on listing page:' to 'View the latest successful instance of the object' then the double-click behaviour changes:
    The double-click action now tries to open the latest successful instance of a document. I found that any document in my Inbox or any document with instances (e.g. scheduled report) will still open for viewing using the double-click. For any other document the double-click fails silently. I assume this is because there simply isn't a latest instance to open.
    Conclusions:
    1. Don't use the 'View the latest successful instance of the object'. I have reset my CMC setting back to 'View the object'.
    2. I think Business Objects should change the double-click behaviour so that rather than fail silently it opens the document.

    If I am browsing on site such as Ebay or any shopping site and click on an item, when I return to the search page I am once again at the top of the page and have to search down for where I was in the list of items. This is not only on Ebay it is everywhere I search. Firefox goes back to the top of the page . It is annoying to have to figure out exactly where I was if I left the page and then returned. This is a hinderance when using Firefox. I have considered uninstalling it because of the inconvenience of 're-searching' after already doing a search. Firefox used to take me right back to where I was if I left a page, but that feature is not working now. I am not sure how to change this in the settings.

    Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
    Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
    Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

    You can get Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    You should still have your profile folder, so when you install 3. you will get your bookmarks and other user data back.
    There is a third party version of Firefox that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

  • Adobe Stamps Don't Place Where Mouse Clicks

    Hello,
    My firm is experiencing some issues regarding stamps.  We've created a library of stamps for the employees to use in their documentation.  However, some users are noticing that the stamps don't place where they click.  For instance, a user will select a checkmark stamp, hover the mouse over a box on the pdf file, and click on the box to place the stamp.  The user wants the checkmark to appear inside the box.  However, for some odd reason the stamp appears 20 or so pixels above or below where the user clicks.  It's quite random.  And this occurs on more than one PC type (three different kinds of Toshiba laptops).  It also occurs in both XP and in Windows 7.  Has anyone noticed this?  Does anyone know how to fix this?  I have updated both Adobe and the mouse drivers to see if it makes a difference - it didn't.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Teresa

    Acrobat is kind of quirky about pasting into the file. Pastes tend to be done at either the top left or the middle of the page, depending on the version of Acrobat. You then have to use the object touchup tool to move the paste to where you want it.

    I purchased Pages. But i can't find the icon or where it was loaded. I need to write a resume

    Did you purchase it from the iTunes Store or did you do the purchase from the App Store on the iPad?
    Go to Search, and type in Pages, if nothing shows your iPad hasn't downloaded it.
    Tap on App Store > Updates > Purchases, any sign of installation in progress? It is reasonably large so may take a while.

  • Type anywhere in JTextArea where mouse clicks

    Is it possible to start typing anywhere where the mouse clicks with a JtextArea ? I have an application that needs to allow users to start typing at the position where mouse clicks. Be default, JtextArea starts at (0,0).

    Well, this might not be the cleanest way, but you could create a mouselistener on the TextArea (or subclass it), and
    1) check to see if the clicked position refers to a valid offset in the textArea. If so, you don't really have to do anything, since the basic functionality of the thing should drop the caret in just where you want it. ModelToView() will help you figure out where in the document the mouse clicked.
    2) if not, figure out how many lines down/ tabs over need to be appended to the document to get the cursor where you want it, then insert them
    3) move the cursor to the end of the document.
    this might not be all that clean, especially since fonts vary in width. there are a number of ways you can find out how wide a string is in a given font, though.
    hope that helps

    Hello,
    I would like to strongly recommend that you update your version of Flash Player to our currently released version (17.0.0.169) and enable auto updates.  The version you are using is insecure and opening your computer (and all of your data) to being easily exploited by bad guys.
    As for the error you are receiving, this is most likely a restriction from the website.  Each developer is able to specify what the required minimum version of Flash and require their users to have at least that version installed.  The detection that is occuring and the message that you are seeing on the website isn't part of Flash Player, but instead part of the website's code.
    If you go to this page and click the "Check Now" button, what is displayed (OS, browser and version number)?  Do you see the "tree" animation playing below?

  • Textinput on ios Cursor and typed text start where the textinput was clicked but should start left

    So... the TextInput works well in the simulator and on android... but on an iPhone the text starts at the position where the user clicks in the text input and that feels strange and looks ugly...
    the code:
    <s:TextInput id="firstNameInput"
                         x="10" y="10"
                         width="620" height="65"
                         maxChars="255"
                         prompt="@Resource(key='input.firstName.prompt', bundle='RegisterView')"/>
    How can I fix that???

    Agreed! This bug with the ringtone delay (№4.1) is really annoying

  • HT4753 I have a very simple question: how do I view where Lion has autosaved my current version to (without the convoluted route of using finder)? In days gone by i'd simply use the save as function to see where it was being saved.

    I have a very simple question: how do I view where Lion has autosaved my current version to (without the convoluted route of using finder)? In days gone by i'd simply use the save as function to see where it was being saved.

    It's actually even easier than using Save As to see the full path to the currently open document. Just do a "Secondary click" on the document title in its window's title bar.
    Like you, I relied upon Save As my whole life to check a file's location and considered it a must-have capability. Turns out it's even faster to use the single-click method to reveal the full path to the open document. It displays the entire path to the current document starting from the level of your Mac, and works for files stored on drives as well as iCloud.
    If you're not sure how to do a secondary click, go into System Preferences, select Trackpad, Point & Click to find the current preference for secondary click on your Mac. If you happen to have a mouse with more than one button, it's probably the right button. As a trackpad user, I check the box to "Click or tap with two fingers," so a simple two finger tap on the title of an open document reveals its full path. This feature actually has been around for a very long time.
    Note that this is not the same thing as the Autosave and Versions menu, which is exposed using a little drop down triangle to the right of the title. There is no visual clue for the presence of this feature - you just have to know it's there, probably because this feature goes all the way back to pre-OS X days.

  • Magic Mouse-Right click and left click reversed?

    Hello! Thanks in advance for any info you can provide regarding my problem. My wireless keyboard and magic mouse recently has been disconnecting from Bluetooth. A few days ago they both quit, and after a call to apple tech support, I tried everything, including re-loading my system software(Mac Pro, Snow Leopard 10.6.2) When my keyboard and mouse finally came back up, when I de-selected the right click, the mouse wouldn't click. The cursor moves around, but no click. I have to plug in another mouse and select right click, and then the mouse will click, but the right and left click are reversed.
    At one point, when plugging in an old wired mouse, I was able to select whether I wanted to enable the right or left click, and when I selected left click, the mouse quit clicking. I can't seem to get thatoption now with a wired mouse, and that might not even be related.
    Can anyone help! I'd like to get my Magic mouse working correctly!
    Thanks for all your help!
    Mark S.
