Load New JFrame from different class

Hi, Im making an application that has a login jframe when it loads. If they login with the right info, I want the login jframe to dissapear, and I want the main menu jframe to open...
The login jframe is: FearlessUI.java
The menu jframe is MainMenu.java
Anybody know the code to do so?

Here is the code of MainMenu.java:
* MainMenu.java

  • How to access form objects from different class?

    Hello, I am new to java and i started with netbeans 6 beta,
    when i create java form application from template i get 2 classes one ends with APP and one with VIEW,
    i put for example jTextField1 with the form designer to the form and i can manipulate it's contents easily from within it's class (let's say it is MyAppView).
    Question>
    How can i access jTextField1 value from different class that i created in the same project?
    please help. and sorry for such newbie question.
    Thanks Mike

    hmm now it says
    non static variable jTree1 can not be referenced from static context
    My code in ClasWithFormObjects is
    public static void setTreeModel (DefaultMutableTreeNode treemodel){
    jTree1.setModel(new DefaultTreeModel(treemodel));
    and in Class2 it is
    ClasWithFormObjects.setTreeModel(model);

  • Loading property files from a class and not a servlet...

    Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a good solution for loading property files from a class instead of a servlet. I would like to load the property file similarly to how it is done from HttpServlet.
    Here is the large picture. I have a tag library that calls a class which needs to access a database. The class needs to know what DB to access so it needs to look at some property file. The problem is that I don't want to hardcode the properties or the path of where the property file exists. I hope this all makes sense.
    Thanks.
    -PV

    I use the getResource method in the java.lang.Class class. Read about this method in the api.
    Anyways this is roughly how it's : you must put your properties file in the classpath. Then in your class :
    Properties prop = new Properties();
    URL url = this.getClass().getResource("/config/db.properties");
    prop.load(url.openStream());In this case, you must put the "config" (where you've written your db.properties file) directory's parent in the classpath.

  • Unable to load new information from configuration file /var/ldap/ldap_clien

    Hi all,
    When I run the command "ldapclient init", I got the error message:
    # ldapclient init -a proxyDN=cn=proxyagent,ou=profile,dc=example,dc=ca -a domainName=example.ca -a profileName=UserProfile -a proxyPassword=pwd 10.1.10.50
    Unable to load new information from configuration file '/var/ldap/ldap_client_file' ('Unable to open filename '/var/ldap/ldap_client_file' for reading (errno=2).').
    Any idea?
    Thanks a lot for your help!

    Does the profile UserProfile exist on your LDAP server?
    Do the logs on your LDAP server show access problems?
    Try using -v to get more verbose output

  • Classic IPod wont load new music from ITunes ? Help!

    I have authorized a new computer with windows 7 to my itunes but cant get my IPod Classic to load new music from it. It recognizes the IPod but does not sync? I click on IPod tab that comes up and then summary and the open itunes with this ipod is checked, click sync at bottom right and it makes the ding noise but no music load?

    It says I tunes is synced with another I tunes library (probably my old one) on LAPTOP 20. Do you want to erase this IPod and sync with this I tunes library?
    so my question is do I have to lose everything on my IPod and start over, why cant I just sync my IPod with my new I tunes ?

  • Refreshing AbstractTableModel from different class...

    Hi there ppl
    Anybody know how to call:
    model.fireTableStructureChanged()
    from a different class? when i try i get a compiler error saying that i cannot reference a non-static variable from a staic content.
    the first jframe holds a jtable that displays the model which consists of data from a db. the second jframe (which resides in another class) has a jtextfield which when submitted will update the db, therefore the db results need to be updated and then the model needs to be updated via
    model.fireTableStructureChanged()
    but from a different class. Is this possible and if so can somebody explain to me how?
    Thanks fellow Javites.

    Thanks for replying...
    The TrainServiceFrame.updateStationTable() exists within the TrainServiceFrame class and is intended to update the stationModel object when called from another class (which will be the NewTrainStationFrame class).
    <code>
         public static void updateStationTable() {
              stationModel.fireTableStructureChanged();
    </code>
    The second code fragement is from the second class NewTrainStationFrame (which is not a subclass) which contains a jframe, jtextfield and a button. the method call to the stationModel(stationModel = AbstractTableModel) is done via: TrainServiceFrame.updateStationTable() when the submit button is clicked sending the string to a method ( addNewStation(newStation); )which updates the db.
    <code>
    button.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
              public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                        newStation = newStationField.getText();
                        addNewStation(newStation);
    // this would retrieve the updated db results + store in a TreeSet object
    // TrainServiceFrame.getTrainStations();
                        TrainServiceFrame.updateStationTable();
    </code>
    I have just noticed something that is missing which when attempted to fix resulted in the same problem. there should also be a method called to retrieve the updated db, but as this is from a static context yet again i fall into the same ditch as the variables that store these db results are non-static and exist within the TrainStationFrame class.
    Is the solution simply to change these relevent variables and methods that are to be called from another class, so that they are all static?

  • Access oracle database from different classes in desktop / standalone app.

    I am a bit confused as to what way to go. I am building a desktop application that needs to access an oracle database. I have done this in the past using code similar to the following:
            try {             DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());             Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(                     "jdbc:oracle:thin:@111.111.111.111:oracledb",                     "username", "password" );             // Create a Statement             Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();             ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(                     "select ... from ...");             while (rs.next()) {                 ReportNumberCombo.addItem(rs.getString(1));             } // end of rs while             conn.close();         } //  end of try         catch( Exception e ) {             e.printStackTrace();         }
    The problem I would like to resolve is that I have this code all over the place in my application. I would like to have it in one objects method that i can call from other classes. I can't easily see how to do this, or maybe at this point I'm just too confused.
    I want to be able to change this connection info from a properties file which I have already done, not sure if this bit of information would change the answer to my question. I was also looking at the DataSource api, this looks like it is close to what I should use, what are your thoughts?
    I would also like to if JNDI is only for web applications or would be appropriate for a desktop app.
    Thank you for your help, I realize this is all over the place but I really need these topics cleared up!

    I have tried exactly that and am getting an error which let me to believe it couldn't be done that way. Here is my code and error message:
    public class readPropsFile {
        String getURL() throws IOException {
            // default values for properties file
            String Family = "Family:jdbc" + ":oracle:" + "thin:@";

            Username = props.getProperty("Username");
            Password = props.getProperty("Password");
    //      prints properties to a file for troubleshooting
            PrintStream s = new PrintStream("c:\\data\\list.txt");
            props.list(s);
            in.close();
            String URL = "\"" + Family + Server + ":" + Port + ":" + Host + "\"" +
                    "," + "\"" + Username + "\"" + "," + "\"" + Password + "\"";
            System.out.println("This is the URL:" + URL);
            return URL;
    }And here is where I try to call the method:
    public class connWithProps1 {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            readPropsFile callProps = new readPropsFile();
            try {
                callProps.getURL();

                Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url);
                // Create a Statement
                Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
                ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("select .... WHERE ....'");
                while (rs.next()) {
                    System.out.println(rs.getString(1));
                } // end of rs while
                conn.close();
            } catch (SQLException sqle) {
                Logger.getLogger(connWithProps1.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, sqle);
            } catch (IOException ioe) {
                Logger.getLogger(connWithProps1.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ioe);
    }The error I get is:

    I will go back and change my code to properly close the resultset, thanks for catching that. Id rather use what I have instead of JNDI unless it's nesessary.

  • How  add buttons to Jframe from other class

    Hi, a have a little problem;)
    I want make a JFrame, but i want to add JButtons from other class. Now I have something like that:
    My JFrame class:
    package windoow;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class MyWindow extends JFrame {
           Butt buttons ;
            public Window(String s) {
                     super(s);
                    this.setSize(600, 600);
                    this.setVisible(true);
                    Buttons();
                public void Buttons(){
                    setLayout(null);
                   buttons = new Butt();
                   buttons.mywindow =this;
    } My class with buttons:
    package windoow;
    import javax.swing.JButton;
    public class Butt {
            MyWindow mywindow;
            JButton b1;
            Butt(){
                      b1 = new JButton("Button");
                      b1.setBounds(100,100,100,20);
                      mywindow.add(b1);
    } and i have NullPointerException.
    When i try to make new MyWindow in Butt clas i have something like StackOverFlow.
    what should i do?

    Your null pointer exception is occuring because, in your Butt() constructor, you are calling mywindow.add(b1), but you don't set mywindow until after you call the constructor in the MyWindow::Buttons() method.
    And, if you try to create a new MyWindow() in your Butt() constructor, and, assuming that you are calling the MyWindow::Window(String s) method from the MyWindow() constructor (which is not clear from the code fragment you posted), then Butt() calls new MyWindow() which calls Window(String s) which calls Butt() which calls ... and so on, until the stack overflows.
    One possible solution ... pass your MyWindow reference into your Butt() constructor as this, as so:
    public void Buttons()
       // stuff deleted
      buttons = new Butt( this );
       // stuff deleted
    // AND
    Butt( MyWindow mw )
       // stuff deleted
      mywindow = mw;

  • Itunes 10.2.1 stops responding when loading new folder from ex. harddrive

    The last two days I have been trying to add new albums from my external hard drive to my library. Every other album it stops responding and I have to close it through the task manager. Music plays fine when I don't try to add new music. Sometimes it freezes while loading the songs, sometimes when determining playback, and sometimes when gathering album artwork. Now, when I start it with my external hard drive plugged in, it starts trying to determine the playback info. of the last cd I loaded and freezes. It won't let me do anything.
    All of my music files are on an external drive and the drive works on other computers. All of the music on here opens in other music players such as winamp, media player, etc.
    I have tried reinstalling itunes but the same problems occur.

    Having the exact same problem.
    But.... seems to have fixed it.
    I disabled the option in iTunes->Preferences->Advanced->Unchecked the Add files to the itunes library etc.

  • Why can't I create new object from a class that is in my big class?

  • Loading a movieClip from a class

    Hello all,
    I'm attempting to write an AS 2.0 class using Flash through
    which I can load and control multiple movie clips in the library
    and from external files. I've attempted multiple different ways,
    don't quite seem to be able to get the images to show up on the
    screen. After some time searching, I've been unable to find a good
    example online. Please excuse my inexperience with AS classes.
    I'd like to write a class that extends MovieClip and is used
    to control multiple 'sub' movieClips, all from methods inside the
    instantiated class.
    From .fla file, I call instantiate my class as follows:
    var theScene:sphere3D = new sphere3D();
    In the constructor of my class file, I'm attempting to attach
    or load a movie. I simply want to get it to show up on the screen,
    when I test the .fla movie. I've tried using attachMovie and
    loadMovie with not luck.
    dynamic class sphere3D extends MovieClip {
    function sphere3D() {
    this.attachMovie("shadow","shadow",1); // shadow being a
    movie clip in the .fla library with linkage
    shadow._x = 100;
    shadow._y = 100;
    this.createEmptyMovieClip ("shadow2", 100);
    shadow2._x = 100;
    shadow2._y = 100;
    shadow2.loadMovie("images/cube.png");
    What am I doing wrong? Suggestions for stuff to test would be
    welcome.
    Thank you,
    dana.

    Ah, thank you, that make sense now. The solution you
    suggested worked great.
    I did also find two other solutions, for anyone else who
    might read this. One is to essentially create an empty movieclip on
    your timeline. From the linkage window for the empty movieclip, I
    made sure I set the Class field to the name of the class I'd
    written, something I didn't do previously. This attaches all the
    class actionscript to the empty movieclip, and even automatically
    runs the constructor when the empty movieclip is placed on the
    timeline. It also automatically provides a 'reference' to the main
    timeline when I refer to this.attachMovie() from inside the class.
    So it worked, but isn't as elegant as doing everything from the
    actionscript (unless you are building a component).
    The last reference I came across is the
    Object.registerClass() method used to attach as class to an object,
    similar to using the Linkage method above. But I haven't
    successfully tried it yet.
    Thanks again for the help kglad,
    dana.

  • How do I call methods with the same name from different classes

    I have a user class which needs to make calls to methods with the same name but to ojects of a different type.
    My User class will create an object of type MyDAO or of type RemoteDAO.
    The RemoteDAO class is simply a wrapper class around a MyDAO object type to allow a MyDAO object to be accessed remotely. Note the interface MyInterface which MyDAO must implement cannot throw RemoteExceptions.
    Problem is I have ended up with 2 identical User classes which only differ in the type of object they make calls to, method names and functionality are identical.
    Is there any way I can get around this problem?
    Thanks ... J
    My classes are defined as followes
    interface MyInterface{
         //Does not and CANNOT declare to throw any exceptions
        public String sayHello();
    class MyDAO implements MyInterface{
       public String sayHello(){
              return ("Hello from DAO");
    interface RemoteDAO extends java.rmi.Remote{
         public String sayHello() throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
    class RemoteDAOImpl extends UnicastRemoteObject implements RemoteDAO{
         MyDAO dao = new MyDAO();
        public String sayHello() throws java.rmi.RemoteException{
              return dao.sayHello();
    class User{
       //MyDAO dao = new MyDAO();
       //OR
       RemoteDAO dao = new RemoteDAO();
       public void callDAO(){
              try{
              System.out.println( dao.sayHello() );
              catch( Exception e ){
    }

    >
    That's only a good idea if the semantics of sayHello
    as defined in MyInterface suggest that a
    RemoteException could occur. If not, then you're
    designing the interface to suit the way the
    implementing classes will be written, which smells.
    :-)But in practice you can't make a call which can be handled either remotely or locally without, at some point, dealing with the RemoteException.
    Therefore either RemoteException must be part of the interface or (an this is probably more satisfactory) you don't use the remote interface directly, but MyInterface is implemented by a wrapper class which deals with the exception.

  • Load java main from java class

    Is it possible to load a java main of some class
    from other java class?
    example:
    public static void loadClass(final String name, final String param) {
    try {
    Class c = Class.forName(name);
    Class[] cParams = new Class[1];
    cParams[0] = String.class;
    Method m = c.getMethod("main", cParams);
    Object whatisthisobject = null;
    String args[] = { "" };
    Object o = m.invoke(whatisthisobject, args);
    catch (Throwable t) {
    System.out.println("error: " + t);
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    loadClass("Test", "abc");

    Anything you can do with an ordinary static method can be done with main.

  • Opening new window from separate class

    Hello. I am currently writing a program that should be able to open a new window.
    Upon clicking a button in the first window, a second window should open up.
    The second window has to contain it's own buttons and methods, and upon
    clicking the button in the first window, it should close.
    So far I am only interested in making the button, and making the second class
    that will open when I click it. So far I've tried doing this in many different ways,
    but no matter what I do something either goes wrong, or it behaves weirdly.
    Class1: Contains the button that opens the second window

    Sincerely, Ulverbeast

    I would make the second "window" a JPanel (or better a class that is able to create a JPanel), and display it in a modal JDialog. For e.g.,
    import java.awt.Container;
    import java.awt.FlowLayout;
    import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
    import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class SecondWindowExampleB extends JFrame implements ActionListener {
      /* Initialization */
      private JButton xPress;
      private JTextField sumField = new JTextField(10);
      /* My main method */
      public static void main(String[] Args) {
        SecondWindowExampleB frame = new SecondWindowExampleB();
        frame.setSize(200, 120);
        frame.createGUI();
        frame.setVisible(true);
      /* The interface */
      private void createGUI() {
        setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
        Container window = getContentPane();
        window.setLayout(new FlowLayout());
        /* Button to open new window */
        xPress = new JButton("Press me");
        window.add(xPress);
        xPress.addActionListener(this);
        sumField.setEditable(false);
        window.add(sumField);
      public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
        Object source = e.getSource();
        CalcSumPanel calcSumPanel = new CalcSumPanel();
        JDialog dialog = new JDialog(this, "Calculate Sum", true);
        dialog.getContentPane().add(calcSumPanel);
        dialog.pack();
        dialog.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
        if (source == xPress) {
          sumField.setText("");
          dialog.setVisible(true);
          double sum = calcSumPanel.getSum();
          if (Double.compare(sum, Double.NaN) != 0) {
            sumField.setText(String.format("%.4f", sum));
    import java.awt.Window;
    import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
    import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
