Load oracle jdbc driver error when run applet via the web

Hi All,
I have built an applet which connect to database via jdbc thin driver. It works fine when I run it through the applet viewer, but got a problem when run it through the web.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleDriver
I am using jdev9i 9.0.4 and jdk 1.4.2. The jdbc version is 9.0.1
I have added both the classes12.zip and ojdbc14.zip in the class path and also pack them together with my applet class. Here is the code
public class MyApplet extends Applet
implements Runnable
public void start()
if(theThread == null)
theThread = new Thread(this);
theThread.start();
Retrieve R = new Retrieve();
this.MyMap = R.retrieveDesc();
public class Retrieve
public Retrieve()
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
conn=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@babyruth.wvu.edu:1703:devdw", User, Password);
conn.setAutoCommit(true);
connectStatus = true;
public HashMap retrieveDesc()
return map;
I have also built one HTML page NewApplet like this
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE> My New Applet</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<APPLET CODE="MyApplet.class" CODEBASE="menu" ARCHIVE="MyApplet.zip" WIDTH=300 HEIGHT=485>
<!--General Settings-->
<param name="bgcolor" value="255,255,255">
</HTML>
Any advice is highly appreciated
Mei

Sir,
Well you haven't "packed" them correctly. Why don't you just add the driver bits to the soucebase tag? or something like that anyway...
Sincerely,
Slappy

    Hello, I'm going to start by saying I'm a rank amateur when it comes to using and understand SQL developer. My entire need for this program is to connect to a virt server at my office and test out my SQL queries against our tables. It's been working great for this purpose until yesterday when I received this error:
    An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
    oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CConnection.getLibraryVersionNumber()I
    Vendor code 0
    I did some searching and found a few references to this error but due to my inexperience I was unable to follow the resolutions and fix the error. This connection was working fine until yesterday afternoon which seemed odd. Based on my control panel, here is what I installed yesterday, I believe I installed both Java's after the error occurred seeing if they would alleviate the issue.
    MySQL Administrator 1.1
    Java SE Development Kit 6 Update 41 (64-bit)
    MySQL Workbench 5.2 CE
    Java 6 Update 41 (64-bit)
    Could one of these be the root of the issue?
    Thanks for the help and sorry for the lack of technical expertise, my need is very narrow and up until now this program has worked great for me.

    More likely to be that you are now using the wrong version of the oracle jdbc jar file.
    Post the name and version of the JDBC jar file that you think you are using.
    Search the pc for ALL such files.
    Examine the environment variables (e.g. PATH) to see if they reference jdbc jars other than the ojdbc6 jar you should be using.

  • Error when running reports on the WEB

    Hi,
    I have been successful in deploying our application on the Web,
    using WebDB listener, Developer Server, Report Server and JInitiator 1.1.7.18.
    Now the forms on the web runs fine without any problem but
    when I run Reports from Forms using RUN_PRODUCT built-in by passing parameters from Forms to Reports it generates this following error: REP-0081-Error During I/O operation and REP-0110: Unable to open file "<<file>>.html" scaba 14.
    The strange thing about the REP-0110 is, it refer to a path that is not defined in my registry(FORMS60_OUTPUT,_MAPPING, REPORTS60_PATH,_TMP,_WEBLOC,_WEBLOC_TRANSLATED) and neither my physical directory in the directory mappings which I defined on the web server. (I refer to a the path mindpack4.1 and the REP-0110 refer to mindpack4_1)
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello pals,
    i have set the following parameters: TMPDIR and REPORTS60_TMP...
    and it seems to be working!!!
    i hope that the problem is not somewhere else.
    NB. I was having problems with 2 reports only. the others were
    working fine.
    any comments will be most welcomed.

    Most likely, the OCI libraries could not be loaded.
    Before continuing down this path, is there any reason
    why you want to use an OCI based Driver as opposed to the
    all Java Oracle thin driver ?There is indeed a valid reason for my choice.
    I am currently connecting to the Oracle "Rdb" 7.0 database (located on
    VMS) - not Oracle Oracle.
    The SQL Service software we're currently using is version 7.1. This
    version works well with the OCI8 driver (when connecting to the
    database from Windows NT). This version of SQL Service however does
    NOT work for the THIN driver (unless we upgrade the SQL Service to
    version 7.1.5.5 - which we're not prepared to do so because it is not
    stable enough from our previous test/trials). SQLSRV Version 7.1.5.5
    works for THIN driver but it will result in uncommitted
    transactions/unresolved connection/stopping of listener issues and
    there is a need to restart the service from time to time. Oracle has
    since confirmed that this is a bug that they have yet to resolve...
    So we have to stick to OCI8 (THICK) for the time being. I would really
    appreciate it very much if you can tell me the various OCI libraries
    that I need to load (in terms of WebLogic Server config file settings
    etc..).
    By the way I have already installed the Oracle 8 client software on
    the NT server (where WebLogic Server is) and I have also set up the
    relevant SID (using the Net8 Assistant) that points to the Oracle Rdb
    database on the VMS. I have also tried using SQL*Plus to connect to
    the database and I can connect properly to the database. But WebLogic
    simply doesn't seem to load the software.
    Help...

    If you are trying to use the thin driver you need to make sure you have the

  • Oralce 10G2 JDBC Driver - Error Loading oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver

    When attemping to use the 10G2 jdbc driver the following NoClassDefFoundError is encountered:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: while resolving class: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    <<No stacktrace available>>
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.security.pki.OracleWallet not found in [file:./, file:ojdbc1410g2.jar, file:/usr/share/java/libgcj-3.4.4.jar, file:./, core:/]
    <<No stacktrace available>>
    The error does not occur when reverting back to the 9 jdbc driver. Does anyone know what is causing this behavior?
    Regards,
    Paul

    Paul,
    Actually, class "oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver" extends class "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver".
    So check the JAR files in the list displayed by your error message and see if any of them contain the [missing] class, for example:
    jar tvf ojdbc1410g2.jar oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleDriver.classGood Luck,
    Avi.

    If anyone knows how to fix this problem Id appreciate it.

    it doesn't say, it just gives me this error message.

  • Bug in Oracle JDBC Driver: NullPointerException when calling clearParameters

    There is a bug in the latest version of the JDBC driver that throws a NPE when calling PreparedStatement.clearParameters(). I don't need a response to this, since I have a workaround (just catching and ignoring the exception), but it should probably be fixed. I speculate that the problem only occurs when you try to call clearParameters() more than once on the same PS, but I haven't confirmed it.
    It is probably an easy fix. Following is the stack trace:

    Take a look at the method that is causing the NullPointerException:
    public void clearItem(int i)
    if (!m_dynamic && m_vector == null && i < m_vector.size())
    m_vector.removeElementAt(i);
    if (m_items != null && i >= m_items.length)
    return;
    m_items[i] = null;
    return;
    A NullPointerException will be thrown whenever clearParameters() is called when no parameters have yet been bound.
    The first IF statement should read:
    if (!m_dynamic && m_vector != null && i < m_vector.size())
    A simple workaround would be to make sure that your parameter list is never empty before calling clearParameters(). Is there a patch for this anywhere?

  • Class Not found : oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver when calling web service

    Hi,
    I have installed the Oracle Data Integrator Public Web Services on Apache Tomcat 5.5 application server with Apache Axis2
    When I try to call the web service OdiInvoke using the operation "listScenario" using only the JdbcDriver as input parameter, the response I get back from the web service call is:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Class Not found : oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    Using the operator "getWebServiceVersion" I get a successfull response back som the connection seems fine.
    Obviously the error has to do with the driver not beeing available but where should I put the driver? Or how do I make it available? When working from Topology Manager, all connections are fine.
    Best regards
    M

    Solved it on my own by putting ojdbc14.jar in the following directory: <Apache-Tomcat install dir>/webapps/axis2/WEB-INF/lib/
    Thought I'd share in case some one else has same issue

    no one can help?

  • Unable to load oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver class

    i want to connect my java application with oracle database but i m getting an error -"class not found exception oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver " which is written in Class.forName() to register the driver for DriverManager.
    plz help me..

    This is an old class, not included with the JDK anymore. It was made obsolete by
    DataSource which is a connection pool and not a single connection.

  • Load Oracle JDBC Driver by reflection.

    Hi!
    I'm trying to load driver by reflection like this,
    try {
      URL ora8libURL = new URL("file:///C:/oracle/product/10.2.0/clientDev/jdbc/lib/classes12.jar");
      Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver", true, URLClassLoader.newInstance(new URL[]{ora8libURL}));
        Enumeration<Driver> drivers = DriverManager.getDrivers();
        while(drivers.hasMoreElements())
          Driver drv = drivers.nextElement();
          System.out.println(drv.getClass().getName());
      conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@//192.168.186.13:1521/rdb817","user","password");
    catch(ClassNotFoundException ex) {ex.printStackTrace();}
    catch(MalformedURLException ex) {ex.printStackTrace();}
    catch (SQLException ex) {ex.printStackTrace();}but i've got this error:
    sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
    java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver found for jdbc:oracle:thin:@//192.168.186.13:1521/rdb817
         at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(Unknown Source)
         at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(Unknown Source)
    ...However, when i specify driver explicit in classpath it works fine.
    Help.

    I had the same problem you have, until i read your post :-).
    Now, with your help, i found a solution.
    The problem with your code is that the DriverManager that you are using doesn't "see" the driver you are loading. But you can create the driver instance directly:

                ex.printStackTrace();
    }Has you can see, the DriverManager doesn't know about the divers loaded with the new ClassLoader.
    The only thing you have to pay attention is not to have the classes for "oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver" in your system classpath.

  • JDBC Driver error when working in command prompt.

    I have a swing program that connects to MySql Database. When run within the Netbeans IDE, there are no errors. But when I run through the command prompt, I get the User Interface screen but does not connect to the database. I have also added the "mysql-connector-java-5.1.6-bin.jar" file in the jdk folder.
    The error I get is "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" which is the driver I have been using in Netbeans. How do I get over this problem?

    The error I get is "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" which is the driver I have been using in Netbeans. How do I get over this problem?1. Fix your GUI so it reports the problem, rather than relying on command line output.
    2. Fix your class path which doesn't have the driver jar.
    3. There is a JDBC forum.

  • ASIO Driver Error when running CS3 on Mac/Snow Leopard

    We have recently removed Parallels from our Mac lab of 30 computers and upgraded the OS to Snow Leopard.  Premiere Pro CS3 was re-installed, but when attempting to open the program we receive the notification "The previously selected ASIO driver could not be loaded and may be in use by another application. The default ASIO driver is now in use.", followed by a notification that Premiere Pro has encountered a serious error and has to close.
    I have run all current OS updates, including  the version 1.2 iMac EFI Firmware update and Premiere Pro CS3 is version 3.2.
    Any help on the ASIO driver...what is it, can I change it, is my software dead on Snow Leopard...would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to the forum.
    Well, my ASIO4ALL suggestion proved to be of no use, as it seems that it's PC only - bummer!
    Now, I do not know Mac ASIO drivers, but I'd start by sleuthing your MBPro and seeing which ASIO driver it's using. Maybe compare the audio hardware between the two machines. Compare the full compliment of drivers. I would guess that most drivers are included in the Mac OS, but could be very wrong there. Sorry, as I'm a PC-guy and don't know how the Mac OS works with drivers, I can only speak in generalities.
    There has got to be some difference between the two machines. Finding that difference and then correcting it, might take some effort, and I do not even know where to suggest you start the search. Maybe a Mac-person will pop by and say, "oh, simple, just look here _____."
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Error when running applet in a adf page (but succeed in html)

    Hi all
    I have a movie player applet and want to put it in my web page.
    I tried with html and the applet work just fine. Here is my code:
    <applet code=SimplePlayerApplet width=320 height=300>
    <param name=file value="Unknown2.mov">
    </applet>
    However, when I put it in adf page, nothing is displayed:
    <jsp:plugin code="SimplePlayerApplet.class" codebase="." type="applet" align="middle" width="320" height="300" jreversion="1.6" >
    <jsp:params>
    <jsp:param name="file" value="Unknown2.mov" />
    </jsp:params>
    <jsp:fallback>
    <p>This plugin can't be loaded</p>
    </jsp:fallback>
    </jsp:plugin>
    The html page and the jspx page I put in the same directory structure.
    And link to html: http://127.0.0.1:7101/JMFStudio-Project1-context-root/htmlTest.html
    Link to the jspx: http://127.0.0.1:7101/JMFStudio-Project1-context-root/faces/untitled1.jspx
    So I tried changing codebase to "/faces" but nothing happens.
    Any suggestion? should I put codebase as "." ??
    Thanks a lot.

    I use the verbatim tag, or use the <jsp:plugin> as above with the code attribute specified without ".class" the applet is loaded ( I can tell as there is loading media panel of the applet displayed ). However the movie is never played.
    <f:verbatim>
    <applet code="SimplePlayerApplet" width="320" height="300">
    <param name="file" value="Unknown2.mov" />
    </applet>
    </f:verbatim>
    It seems that the movie file is not found??
    If I view source code of the page, I see the code generated as follow
    - <f:verbaim><applet>..... : <applet code="SimplePlayerApplet" width="320" height="300"><param name="file" value="2.mov"/></applet>
    -<jsp:plugin> : <EMBED type="application/x-java-applet;version=1.6" pluginspage="" code="SimplePlayerApplet" codebase="." align="middle" archive="" hspace="" name="" vspace="" title="" height="300" width="320" file="Unknown2.mov" >
    <NOEMBED><p>This plugin can't be loaded.</p></NOEMBED></EMBED>
    Is there any issue of loading file source with adf page? Previously I encountered the similar issue when trying to embed a plain movie file into a adf page. I used <embed> or <object> tag inside the verbatim tag. But there is nothing displayed in the browser. (I suspect the problem with the loading of file source as when I replace the movie source (which is stored locally) by a url to a video on the internet, it worked fine)
    Any suggestion? how do I debug this?
    Thanks a lot.
