Load Plans Don't Honor Default Variable Values

The following code uses Package defaults for Global Variable Values. When run as the first step in a Package or as the Scenario of a Package, it works.
When run as the first step in Load Plan the code fails. Load Plans apparently don't honor Variabel default values.
import socket
outsocket = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET,socket.SOCK_DGRAM)
ContextName = '<%=snpRef.getSession("CONTEXT_NAME")%>'
if not ContextName: ContextName = 'No Context'
SessionName = '<%=snpRef.getSession("SESS_NAME")%>'
if not SessionName: SessionName = 'No Session'
Message = '<%=snpRef.getOption("Message")%>'
if not Message: Message = 'No Message'
outmessage = ' '.join([
     '#PLATFORM'
    ,ContextName
    ,SessionName
    ,Message
ListenPort = #LISTEN_PORT
if not ListenPort: raise RuntimeError, 'no listen port'
ListenHost = '#LISTEN_HOST'
if not ListenHost: raise RuntimeError, 'no listen host'
outsocket.sendto(outmessage,(ListenHost,ListenPort))
outsocket.close()

  • How to set default variable value in the workbook

    Dear experts,
    I used several queries in a workbook and one of these queries contained a variable, so when every time the workbook is opened there is a window popping up to ask user to input the value for the variable.
    Now I wanna set an default value for this variable so that the variable input window will not pop up when the workbook is opened.
    I searched the forum and found most solutions is to use the SAPBEXqueries to set value for the variable.
    But in my BEx analyzer I can not find this sheet named SAPBEXqueries. and I also found some difference  between my analyzer and the ones descripted in the forum.
    My BEx analyzer version is 6.40. I think it's a new version.
    Do you know how to solve my problem with this version BEx analyzer?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards
    Fanchest

    Hi Leo,
    Yes I tried the personalization but it seems doesn't work, I don't know why.
    I set the personalization in the BEx analyzer according to the help documentation step by step but the variable selection screen still pop up when the workbook is opened.
    If I executed  the query which contained in the workbook seperately there is no variable selection screen pop up.
    And because I don't wanna change the variable, so I didn't uncheck the ready to input.
    Thanks for your infomation!

  • Default variable values in Web Template

    http://-----xx.com:8120/sap/bw/BEx?sap-language=EN&bsplanguage=EN&CMD=LDOC&TEMPLATE_ID=QZSC_O01_5001_TEST&var_name_1=0S_PLANT&var_value_ext_1=6011&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X
    While using the above variable my expectation is it shall display variable screen and for plant (0s_plant) variable it shall show default value as 6011 while other variable shall remain blank.
    But while executing it is not showing plant default value in variable screen. Any suggestions.
    Many Thanks
    Vikash

    Hi Vikas,
                 While defining the Query, you can define the default value for the variable. And this Query can be assigned to the Analysis Item in the Web Template. If the "Display Variable" option is set to "On", then, whenever the Template is executed, the default value set in the Variable will be visible.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • Default (variables) values on components

    Hi:
    I'm trying to do the simplest thing but couldn't find how.
    I just want to put the current time as the default value on a h:inputText value.
    Also i want to do this simple thing in a simple way...
    Sorry for such a basic question, i think...

    if you do not want put codes in a bean to get the date, you can add this to your page:
    <%
    // Construct a preconfigured Date in session scope
    Date date = (Date) pageContext.getAttribute("date", PageContext.SESSION_SCOPE);
    if (date == null) {
    date = new Date();
    pageContext.setAttribute("date", date, PageContext.SESSION_SCOPE);
    %>
    later you have this to show the date on page:
    <h:outputText value="#{sessionScope.date}">
                        <c:convertDateTime dateStyle="long"/>
    </h:outputText>

  • Variable values not passing with Web Application Designer

    We are on SP 11
    I have defined variables in the planning modeler (no personalization) that should be used when executing a copy function.  The idea is to have ready input capability.  For example, the variable VERSION is defined - when the planning function is executed, the user should have the ability to select a version value.   I have defined TWO button groups to enable the user this feature, however the values will not override the default variable value defined in the planning modeler
    BUTTON GROUP #1 - this is a copy function button with Display Varable Screen option ON.  When I press the button, the variable entry WEB Page Dialog pops up (with the default value).  If I input a differenct value, we get the error the the value characteristic is not included in the selection.  If we use the drop down available on the dialog box to select available values, we get what's on the Web Template (it seems the drop down option is not working)
    BUTTON GROUP #2. - This is a VARIABLE BUTTON using the Open Variable Dialog command (the expectation was to override the default value) When we use the drop down option on the Web Page Dialog, we have the ability to select the valuse available, however the value does not override the default value defined on the planning modeler.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

  • Clear BPS variables values

    I wrote an ABAP program to clear BPS variables values defined for the user.
          DATA:
          lr_variable TYPE REF TO cl_sem_variable.
    * Get variable instance
          CALL METHOD cl_sem_variable=>get_instance
            EXPORTING
              i_area       = I_AREA
              i_variable   = 'ZPVDEP' "z_v_var
            RECEIVING
              rr_variable  = lr_variable
            EXCEPTIONS
              not_existing = 1
              OTHERS     = 2.
          IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    * do s.th., eg send a message
            EXIT.
          ENDIF.
    * delete the restrictions
          CALL METHOD lr_variable->set_user_restriction
            EXPORTING
              i_user   = sy-uname
              i_delete = 'X'
            EXCEPTIONS
              failed   = 1
              OTHERS   = 2.
    In BPS0:
    1. i restrict the variable with some values
    2. execute planning function to clear the variable values
        But the restriction remains.
    3. When i do /nBPS0 the variable restriction clears
    As far as i understand the problem is in buffer. How can i clear buffered values of the variable in ABAP program?
    i tried to call  method CL_SEM_VARIABLE=>RESET_BUFFER.
    but it doesn't work.
    Thanks

    Also i try such an ABAP code
          SELECT *
          FROM upc_var_cha_sel
          INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE it_var_cha_sel
          WHERE    area    = I_AREA
               AND var     = ls_exitp-CHAVL
               AND varuser = sy-uname.
          IF sy-subrc = 0.
            DELETE upc_var_cha_sel FROM TABLE it_var_cha_sel.
            CALL FUNCTION 'DB_COMMIT'.
          ENDIF.
          REFRESH it_var_cha_sel.
          SELECT *
          FROM upc_var_cha_act
          INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE it_var_cha_sel
          WHERE    area    = I_AREA
               AND var     = ls_exitp-CHAVL
               AND varuser = sy-uname.
          IF sy-subrc = 0.
            DELETE upc_var_cha_act FROM TABLE it_var_cha_sel.
            CALL FUNCTION 'DB_COMMIT'.
          ENDIF.
    But the problem is the same
    In BPS0:
    1. i restrict the variable with some values
    2. execute planning function to clear the variable values
    But the restriction remains.
    3. When i do /nBPS0 the variable restriction clears

  • Personalising variable values does not have the effect

    Hello ,
    When the variable is personalised with a value and executed the query for the second time the variable does not have the personalised values again and it waits to enter the input!
    What is the reason behind this and are there any other settings to be done before personalising the variable value?
    Thanks in advance!
    Ram

    Hi BW,
        This is problem with one query or for all queries.
    you first have to activate the personalization in the BW backend system (via transaction RS_PERS_ACTIVATE or via Customizing path BW Customizing Implementation Guide -> Business Information Warehouse -> Reporting-Relevant Settings -> General Reporting Settings -> Activate Personalization in BEx
    And also check <a href="https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1056690&nlang=EN&smpsrv=https%3a%2f%2fwebsmp110%2esap-ag%2ede">Note 1056690 - Query Designer: Variable personalization is deleted</a>

  • Unable to refresh variable definition in ODI Load Plan

    Hi All,
    We recently removed the variable definition and changed it to default value. After that we tried to refresh the variable in  Load plans / Scenarios but it still shows old SQL. Can you please suggest if there is a way to force refresh the variable definitions in load plans? We tried removing and re-adding the variable but that didn't help. Last resort will be to recreate the load plans but we are trying to avoid that.
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi Alastair,
    Thanks for the reply. Actually variable is returning the correct value. Only problem is that in the Load Plan's variable section variable still shows old definition even after trying to refresh n number of times and also tried removing it from load plan and then inserting it back in after changing the definition. We don't want to migrate load plan like this. Kindly suggest.
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • How to fix different execution plan for different bind variable values?

    Please find the below query. The execution plan is fine. The problem That I am facing is in some cases for different bind variable values execution plan gets changed and degrades performance. I have used 6 tables here and all of the tables have histogram on all columns. Database version is Oracle 10g and the value of method_opt is 'For all columns size auto'
    SELECT l.LineNumber INTO :b0
    FROM Lines l ,LineVersions lv ,Statuses s
    WHERE (((((((((((l.serviceContractId=:b1 AND l.LineId<>:b2)
    AND lv.LineId=l.LineId) AND lv.StatusId=s.StatusId)
    AND s.Code IN ('EPR','ERE','EEP','ERP','PRP','PRD','AAC'))
    AND NOT (s.CODE='AAC' AND lv.activeto<TO_DATE(:b3,:b4)))
    AND lv.EquipmentDetailId=:b5) AND lv.RouteDetailId=:b6)
    AND (lv.cargoDetailId=:b7 OR lv.cargoDetailId IN
    (SELECT i_cd1.cargoDetailId
    FROM CargoDetails i_cd1 ,CargoDetails i_cd2 ,CargoCommodities i_cc1 ,
    CargoCommodities i_cc2 WHERE
    ((((((i_cd2.cargoDetailId=:b7 AND i_cd1.cargoDetailId<>:b7)
    AND i_cd1.ServiceContractId=:b1) AND i_cd1.cargoTypeId=i_cd2.cargoTypeId)
    AND i_cc1.cargoDetailId=i_cd1.cargoDetailId)
    AND i_cc2.cargoDetailId=i_cd2.cargoDetailId)
    AND i_cc1.commodityId=i_cc2.commodityId))))
    AND ((lv.customerGroupId IS NULL AND :b11=0) OR lv.customerGroupId IN
    (SELECT cgm1.customerGroupId
    FROM CustomerGroupMembers cgm1 ,CustomerGroupMembers cgm2 ,CustomerGroups cg1
    WHERE (((cgm2.customerGroupId=:b11 AND cgm1.customerNoId=cgm2.customerNoId)
    AND cg1.CustomerGroupId=cgm1.CustomerGroupId)
    AND cg1.ServiceContractId=l.ServiceContractId)))) AND lv.linetype='C')
    AND ROWNUM=1)
    After searching in several blogs I have found the below solutions. Please see it and let me know it is correct or not
    Solution 1:-Get rid of histogram that does nothing but messes up execution plan by giving below command
    exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats(owner, tablename, method_opt => 'for all columns size 1', cascade => true);
    As 6 tables are there I need to execute above command 6 times.
    Solution 2:- Use stored outline. Not sure how to get the best execution plan.
    I am looking for answers ASAP. Thanks in advance

    As you have probably read, bind variables and histograms do not mix well.
    Histograms suggest that you have skew in your data such that different values should get different plans
    Bind variables exist so that SQL with different supplied values can be shared.
    Mix the two together and at parse time with bind variable peeking you get plans for specific values shared for all values.
    The solutions you have mentioned are the common approaches, together with a third - use literals not binds if you've got data skew (i.e. your histograms are justified) and don't want shared SQL.
    I would have thought that getting rid of some of these histograms may be the right approach if you're none of your application SQL is using literals to benefit from them.
    Can you confirm your version of Oracle.

  • ODI 11g, Issue with Load plan variable in CASE WHEN STEP

    Hi,
    I am trying to retrieve value of the current context using the following code in refreshing variable:
    Variable name: Context
    Refreshing Code: select  '<%=odiRef.getContext( "CTX_Name" )%>'  from dual
    The variable is returning correct results when I refresh / Call it as part of Run Scenario step.
    Requirement: I want to use the variable Context in CASE step, depending on the value it results I want to execute a selective set of scenarios. I have defined case when steps per the requirements.
    Issue: The behavior of the variable is not as expected when used in CASE WHEN step. Load plan execution always triggers only ELSE part of CASE WHEN step.
    I have tried force refresh option in CASE STEP on the variable Context.
    Need your help and advice on how to fix the issue.

  • Transfer variable values via ABAP betweenn planning areas

    Hello,
    I'm using an ABAP-coding (BPS How-To 'variables type user-exit) for transferring variable values between planning areas. It works fine for single-, multi- and interval-selection, but not for single hierarchie nodes.
    I don't want to transfer the values beneath the nodes but the node itself. Has anyone experience with that or changed the ABAP-Coding.
    Note, I'm using a variable type hierarchie as destination and get always a dump, when the ABAP is executed.
    Appreciate your help, thanks in advance...

    Hello,
    I am having the same problem. Can the function module Z_VARIABLE_GET_DETAIL from the "How to...BPS Variables of Type Exit" be modified to get the node value of a hierarchy node variable so it can be used as a global variable?
    Thanks, Linda

  • Load Plan and empty variables on ODI 11G

    Hi everyone,
    I am working with ODI 11g (11.1.1.7.0) and I want to setup a variable with the Load Plan, however I am not able to update and retrieve the variable value inside of a case that is always keeping the initial value. Even the operation history shows the variable value empty. Have you ever used Load plan and noticed this strange behavior?
    Regards,
    Angelo

    Okay let me try to help you on this.
    Oracle Data Integrator agents process each scenario execution instance as a session. Each session exists in the agent as a separate thread of the agent Java process.
    When a scenario is executed on an agent, the agent creates a session in the repository that corresponds to this scenario's instance. The agent reads each task of this session from the repository, processes it, and writes the result - the return code, message and tasks metrics such as the duration or number of rows processed - into the repository.
    Hence multiple session multiple thread.
    Hope you are clear now.
    Thanks.

  • Changing Substitution Variables - Value takes time to appear in Planning

    Hi,
    I have an issue with changing substitution variables values. When I do it, Planning takes about 5 minutes to "know" about that change and till then, it continues working with the previous value. Any Idea of how I can solve that?

    Hi,
    By default, each substitution variable is retrieved and cached from the Essbase server every five minutes or 300 seconds). You can change the retrieval interval by adding the SUBST_VAR_CACHE_LIFETIME property and setting its value in seconds.
    To set Planning application or system properties:
    1. Select Administration, then Manage Properties.
    2. Select:
    *Application Properties: set properties for the current application.
    * System Properties: set properties for all Planning applications.
    3. To:
    * Change a property, change its value under Property Value.
    *Add a property, click Add. Enter a name (avoid using spaces) and value for the property in the blank row.
    If you enter a property already on the tab, its name turns red to indicate it is a duplicate. You can duplicate properties between the application and system tabs.
    4. Click Save and confirm your changes.
    5. Stop and then restart the application server
    Ok?
    Cheers

  • Load Plan and variables

    Hi all,
    I cannot set value for variables inside load plan exceptions editor. Anyway I can inside Load Plan steps editor.
    Is it possible ?
    I need to set variable when exception is raised. How I can do it ?
    thanks

    thank you for the answer..
    but why I have to use a when case step?
    I just need to set a string in a variable before to execute a serial step within exception step.
    I do this in a normal load plan step. So Why I cannot do the same in the exception one ?

  • How to use the same variable value for data entry and the planning sequence

    Hi,
    the scenario is the following:
    Using the WAD template a user enters cost center plan data. The cost center is selected by the chosen value for the variable "V1".
    Afterwards he shall push a button which starts a planning sequence (including saving the data and further functions). This planning sequence uses a filter that also contains the variable "V1".
    What or where has it to be defined that the planning sequence uses automatically the same value for the variable "V1" as selected for the data entry?

    You have to define in the planning function. The planning sequence is only a sequence and it read the planning functions underneath it.
