Unable to refresh variable definition in ODI Load Plan

Hi All,
We recently removed the variable definition and changed it to default value. After that we tried to refresh the variable in Load plans / Scenarios but it still shows old SQL. Can you please suggest if there is a way to force refresh the variable definitions in load plans? We tried removing and re-adding the variable but that didn't help. Last resort will be to recreate the load plans but we are trying to avoid that.

Thanks for the reply. Actually variable is returning the correct value. Only problem is that in the Load Plan's variable section variable still shows old definition even after trying to refresh n number of times and also tried removing it from load plan and then inserting it back in after changing the definition. We don't want to migrate load plan like this. Kindly suggest.

Hi All,
Created a project variable(VAR_X) which is a text type and it can be refreshed by querying in some database.
Created a Load Plan and added a Case step by using VAR_X
with following logic
Case VAR_X
when value ='X'
run_x_scenario.
when value='Y'
run_y_scenario.
else
but whenever I give start up value X or Y ,variable unable to evaluate the when condition provided in the load plan.
always its taking else step

but its working when I evaluate with numeric number like when value =1 etc (here I changed variable datatype to numeric)
Any pointers will be appreciated.

It may be due to the quotes you have added in your when clause. Can you try it without quotes.

BI Apps ODI Load Plan Execution Error and Question on Rerun

I am following the technetwork Cookbook: Installing and Configuring Oracle BI Applications 11.1.1.7.1 to install and configure my first BIApps with ODI. Smooth until I execute the Load Plan.
Following errors were found on first attempt of execution. Without doing any change, I re-executed the load plan, error again but this time the message is difference (2nd attempt)
Question:
- How shall I start to diagnostic the ODI error?
- Apparently there are something left in the failure execution, how I can clean it up for reruning the Load Plan?

The first error happened is
ORA-12516, TNS:listener could not find available handler with matching protocol stack...
The above is due to the listener been disconnected while the LP is executing. This can be solved by restarting the load.
The second error happened is
ORA-20000: Error creating Index/Constraint : W_FLEX_SQL_G_U1 => ORA-01452: cannot CREATE UNIQUE INDEX; duplicate keys found
The above is due to the duplicate records found in the table w_flex_sql_g. You can solve this by deleting the duplicated records in that table like referred in the below link

Load Plan parallel execution hanged after data warning

We are having 9 scenarios executing in parallel in a Load plan. Whenever we get data quality warning for certain interface, the error data get written to E$ table, and execution of this scenarios get completed with warning yellow sign. But after this scenario next scenario didn't execute and LP remain in the running mode.
But when I break the parallel steps in a group of 2 scenarios, it run fine and completed all the steps even after warnings.
Does this means it depend on Agent setting, as currently we have only one agent setup on weblogic server.

There was Oracle bug "Bug 13324950 : LOAD PLAN EXECUTION REMAINS IN RUNNING STAT WHEN ONE PARALLEL SCEN TRACKS ERRORS"
Patch 14550964: LOAD WHEN USING THE ODI LOAD PLAN, THE LOADING STOPS WHEN THERE IS A WARNING to fix the issue.Pls note when you search this patch in the system, it will return two patches for 11.1.1.5 and 11.1.1.6.3 receptively. Pls choose the right version.

ODI 11g, Issue with Load plan variable in CASE WHEN STEP

I am trying to retrieve value of the current context using the following code in refreshing variable:
Variable name: Context
Refreshing Code: select '<%=odiRef.getContext( "CTX_Name" )%>' from dual
The variable is returning correct results when I refresh / Call it as part of Run Scenario step.
Requirement: I want to use the variable Context in CASE step, depending on the value it results I want to execute a selective set of scenarios. I have defined case when steps per the requirements.
Issue: The behavior of the variable is not as expected when used in CASE WHEN step. Load plan execution always triggers only ELSE part of CASE WHEN step.
I have tried force refresh option in CASE STEP on the variable Context.
Need your help and advice on how to fix the issue.

Load Plan and empty variables on ODI 11G

Hi everyone,
I am working with ODI 11g (11.1.1.7.0) and I want to setup a variable with the Load Plan, however I am not able to update and retrieve the variable value inside of a case that is always keeping the initial value. Even the operation history shows the variable value empty. Have you ever used Load plan and noticed this strange behavior?

Okay let me try to help you on this.
Oracle Data Integrator agents process each scenario execution instance as a session. Each session exists in the agent as a separate thread of the agent Java process.
When a scenario is executed on an agent, the agent creates a session in the repository that corresponds to this scenario's instance. The agent reads each task of this session from the repository, processes it, and writes the result - the return code, message and tasks metrics such as the duration or number of rows processed - into the repository.
Hence multiple session multiple thread.

You can try to press the ESC key to stop loading the page if you see the Stop button instead of the Reload button. You can also reload the page via F5 or Ctrl + F5 (cache bypass).
Firefox 4.0 has a combined Reload and Stop and Go button that appears at the right end of the location bar.
To restore the Firefox 3 appearance you can use these steps:
* Open the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window to move the Stop and Reload button out of the location bar.
* Move the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position at the left side of the location bar.
* Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
* Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise to get two distinct buttons.

Currently my packages have many steps, each step with a red failure arrow leading to this type of failure e-mail procedure -- lots of red arrows and many nearby copies of the failure e-mail procedure to eliminate the confusion.
I had hoped that the Load Plan Exception feature would let me take all these red arrows out of my packages and move the e-mail failure reporting to the Exception step.

My server and client olap versions are the same: MSOLAP.5, i used sql server 2008 R2 SP1 and sharepoint 2010 SP1 and reboot or iisreset have no effect

I have been trying to find a solution to the same error message
In my case, the power pivot reports were working before on a regular team site , but then two things changed:
a) I created a toplevel site using the BI Center template. Now I am using a Business Intelligence template , created a power pivot gallery library and uploaded a few powerpivot reports
b) On the  backend, the database instance was upgrated to SQL Server 2012
     Front end Server VDSP01 remains SQL Server 2008 R 2 where Sharepoint 2010 was installed as a FARM
Now, the reports will display in sharepoing however they will not refresh. the error message i get is the same.
Scenario recap:
a- Server VDSP01 uses SQL Server 2008 R 2 where Sharepoint 2010 was installed as a FARM
b- On the back end, the database instance name was replaced with SQL 2012 Server:
         from SQL Server 2008 R 2 (instance DBDEV-COTS\COTS)
           to     SQL Server 2012 ( instance VTSQL01\COTS)
c-  I was told that:
     From VDSP01, they ran
CliConfg.exe to create SQL Server Alias :
       where    BEFORE: vdsharepoint --> DBDEV-COTS\COTS
            and AFTER    : vdsharepoint --> VTSQL01\COTS

Problem: Stopping cluster due to unhandled exception .. Unable to refresh

Greetings
While testing a rolling upgrade of an application that uses Coherence 3.5.2 on 62-jvm cluster hosted on
11 physical machines, we encountered a situation where after the upgrade was completed, most jvms
in the system abruptly left the cluster. The physical hosts are running CentOS 5.4, the java used is
the 64-bit server version 1.6.0_16-b01. The test was run under a scenario that imposed "moderate"
load, with cpu usage on the physical machines never exceeding 60% busy, network bandwidth never
exceeding 5%, and with some free physical memory. Swapping did not occur during any time during
the test. I believe we are using the default tangosol-coherence.xml. We got the error below in
our coherence.log files on all of the systems, all at about the same time (within 10 milliseconds).
55 of the jvms left the cluster during the incident. There were 55 copies of the error message in
the various logs, all nearly identical except for the time and member id.
My questions include
- what does the error mean?
- what could cause it? (I investigated system logs, and found no evidence of the NIC cards
going off line at the time. Any suggestions about how to look for evidence of broadcast storm?)
- how can we keep it from happening again?

which will help in diagnosing the problem

Refresh Variable values in WAD

We have a strange problem in WAD.
Actually we are on 731 on Hana and we have built a web report with WAD which contain 20 queries. these queries has 2 varibales:
- calyear
- Company code
As ex when we launch the report with variable's values 2013 - CC01 the system shows the message ' No data found..' for one query but now if we select the button 'refresh variables' (always for 2013 - CC01) the system shows data!
Also if we execute the same query in BEX the system shows data.
In fact there are correct data in InfoProvider for this selection but it looks like that for the 1st execution the system is unable to incorporate the correct variable's value.

The problem is that refreshing data across all queries works only if we are already into the report (img 2) but if we launch for 1st time the same report it doesn't work (img 1), so:
1) launch the wad (variables 2013 CC01) the result is 'No data'
2) refresh the wad (always with 2013 CC01) the system show data.

These data model issues can be a bit tricky to diagnose. Can you please try disabling "Load to Data Model" and then re-enabling it for the queries that are causing trouble?

Disabling "Refresh Variables" on toolbar

Hi all,
I'm fairly new to BW, but enjoying it so far, version 7.
I'm not a developer, I'm an end "Superuser", so I can build and save queries and variables, but dont' have access to workbench or ABAP kind of stuff.
I've created a workbook that uses VBA to refresh the variables, and created a button on the first sheet that the user needs to press to run my VBA.
To reduce the risk of calling the wrong version (it's an input sheet), I'd like to turn off the "Refresh Variables" button in this particular workbook. I've located the code in the "Common" Module of the .xls book, and commented it out, however this kills all the other commands in my workbook. When I remove the comments, they still don't work.
Ideally, I'd like the Bex Toolbar button to run my VBA. What is the best way to handle this?

Firefox 4 and later use a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location bar.<br />
During the page load process it shows as a Stop button and after the loading has finished the button is changed to a Reload button.<br />
If you type in the location bar then that button becomes a Go button.<br />
Middle-click the Reload button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab.
To move the Stop and Reload buttons to their position to the left of the location bar you can use these steps:
* Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize"
* If the menu bar is hidden on Windows or Linux use "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
* Drag the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position to the left of the location bar.
* Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
* Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise (Space or Separator) to get two distinct buttons.

Send a Failure Email Notification After Load Plan execution in ODI 11g

Hi Experts,
Greetings!
I am trying to send an email if any of the step fails during Load Plan execution. Irrespective of the failed object, only 1 email should be sent to the Administrator. I unable to do this. Mails are getting sent for the no of times the no of object fails. For eg if 10 out of 100 steps fails, 10 emails are getting sent. I need to send only 1 email.
I am using ODISendMail.
I have tried various combinations however, all in Vain.
For instance:
root step --> Exeception Step (Send Failure Email) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Ignore). Using this because, I dont want to stop the load plan on the step failure.
Interface1: Exeception Step (Blank) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Ignore).
Interface2: Exeception Step (Blank) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Ignore).
Exception not getting executed.
Please help.

I tried your suggestion as per below.
1. Created global variable "v_cnt" with default value "0"
2. Created package "pkg_v_cnt" to increment the variable by 1
3. created package "pkg_sendError_Email" to check if v_cnt > 0 then Send Error Email.
For Instance, the loan plan looks like this:
root step --> Exeception Step (pkg_v_cnt) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Raise)
Interface1: Exeception Step (pkg_v_cnt) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Ignore).
Interface2: Exeception Step (pkg_v_cnt) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Ignore).
Send Error Email (pkg_sendError_Email)
The issue here is that, the variables are not getting the incremented value and hence unable to send email . The variable value remains "0" even after execution of the exception steps when both interfaces fails.
Pls help.

Query in Refresh Variable

I am using ODI 11g.
I have a Oracle table called Email_Notification where to_address is a column.
In ODI refresh variable i need to write a query SELECT to_address =:'var_to_address' FROM Email_Notification...
But the query is showing error ...
Please let m eknow how to pass the variable.

Obviously this query will show you error. What is your requirement ?
If you want to send mail in ODI based on the to_address column then create a procedure.
In command on source
SELECT TO_ADDRESS FROM Email_Notification
In command on target
OdiSendMail "-MAILHOST=IND-DWTEAM" "-FROM=[email protected]" "-TO=:TO_ADDRESS "
