Loading a flatfile to the database.

Hi,
In my application i have to update a table montly or weekly based on the data sent to me in a flat file.
My application is a ASP application with Oracle7 as the database and WindowsNT as the operating system.
Can anybody please suggest how to do this.
Is it better to use SQL* Loader or do i have to write a stored procedure.
Thanks a lot for your time.
Regards,
Hima.

This discussion forum is for questions related to the new feature in Oracle8i called Internet File System. It does not handle the type of questions you mention.
However, since I can't find any other forum which might be able to help you, I would recommend you use SQL*Loader to load the data into a temporary table, and then use a PL/SQL procedure to do the updates from the temporary table to the table with your basic data in it.
I'm sorry, but this forum is not an appropriate place for further discussion of this subject.

  • Suddenly getting UserNotFoundException: User Not Found: Could not load profile data from the database

    Starting yesterday (I believe) we are suddenly receiving a "User not found" error when trying to view a user's profile page when clicking on their name (in search or elsewhere) via the url
    https://www.contoso.org/Person.aspx?accountname=contoso%255Cmyuserlogin
    This is happening for all users. (but profiles exist and seem ok, and sync with AD is running fine) When looking in the logs I see the error  (full ULS log is later below)
    Exception in LoadRequestedUserProfile: (Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserNotFoundException: User Not Found: Could not load profile data from the database.
    The only clue of what MAY be going on is just before that I see the following two lines which came up after I changed the Database logging to Verbose:
    ConnectionString: 'Data Source=INSTANCE;Initial Catalog=UPAPROFILEDB;Integrated Security=True;Enlist=False;Pooling=True;Min Pool Size=0;Max Pool Size=100;Connect Timeout=15;Application Name=SharePoint[w3wp][3][UPAPROFILEDB]'    Partition:
    NULL ConnectionState: Closed ConnectionTimeout: 15
    SQL connection time: 0.0456 for Data Source=INSTANCE;Initial Catalog=UPAPROFILEDB;Integrated Security=True;Enlist=False;Pooling=True;Min Pool Size=0;Max Pool Size=100;Connect Timeout=15;Application Name=SharePoint[w3wp][3][HNet3_Svc_Prod_UPA_Profile]
    If I am reading that correctly, does it mean the connection to the database is timing out instantly? I am able to use powershell to pull up profiles and print them to the screen while on the webservers. And it's only the one specific page that is not
    working.
    What sort of tests or further debugging can I do for the error above?
    We are on premise, SharePoint 2013 sp1, sql2012, server 2012, claims using the full SharePoint Profiile Sychronization against AD.  Farm has been running since last august. Last week the admin team did run windows update on all servers, I can't be sure
    if it was broken for 5 days and no one noticed or if it broke yesterday.
    I already did the following:
    Verified the profiles do exist in central admin.
    I can still access their personal sites directly via
    https://www.contoso.org/personal/myuserlogin
    I checked the ProfileDB database and made sure the service accounts for the UPA has dbowner, so does the farm account, and the web application pool has SPDataAccess.
    Verified the AD sync account has proper rights in AD.
    I reran a full synchronization which ran with no errors.
    File systems on the webservers and appserver have plenty of free space.
    Rebooted every server in farm
    I even checked the bin directory of the mysite webapplication, (since once I had a weird problem where access to bin was removed.) WSS_ADMIN_WPG, WSS_RESTRICTED_WPG_W4 have full control and WSS_WPG,IIS_IUSRS all have read and execute.
    I opened powershell on the webserver I can indeed load profiles and print their values.

  • Ive just learned that i can use loadjava to load jsp pages into the database.

    Ive just learned that i can use loadjava to load jsp pages into the database. How is that possible. How can someone go to my lets say, index.jsp page and actually see it if its inside the database? What authenticates it? Where would you set the parameters to tell http(apache) to look inside the db for the pages?
    Any ideas?

    Thanks for the reply. If I put the file on the database, does it have to be in a particular location? I've put it on the database server, launched sql*plus (as APPS) and ran the following:
    execute dbms_java.loadjava('-v', 'ZebraGetPrinterFromXML.class');
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.Then when I try to run a process that uses this I get this:
    ORA-29540: class ZebraGetPrinterFromXML does not exist

  • Loading an Image from the database and display it on browser

    I do not know if this is even possible.
    At the moment, to load an image inside an Html page you need to use the <img src=""> tag. and in the src you put the path of the image. Now I would like to save an image inside the database.
    An option to still display the image on the browser would be that my service object, would load the object from the database (saved as blob) then save it somewhere on the Server, and the still use the <img> tag to load the image from that location.
    However I was wondering wheather there is another way to do it without saving this image on the server. that is loading the bytes from the database (or a location on the server) and provided these bytes to the jsp page to display the image.
    Is this possible? or?
    regards,
    sim085

    hmm ... ok .. that sounds good .. but that means that
    a servlet must exsist at all time to display the
    required image.Servlets are usually instantiated by the servlet container upon an incoming request.

  • Load Created Classes into the database

    Dear all,
    I successfully uploaded my created classes to the database then published them by creating a pl/sql procedures . But the execution of the procedure is returning:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no csdkjni in java.library.path
    I've searched this error in metalink and it turned out that this is due to the unavailability of csdkjni lib file in the linux version of csdk (OCS 9i) . But i'm using OCS 10g ,so this shouldn't be my case.
    Could you please check this problem or give me some pointers on how to resolve this issue.
    Cheers!!

    Dear all,
    Maybe the description of my problem was a bit vague.
    So here is a list of things i've done :
    1- create a java class that creates an event .
    2- compiled and tested the class .
    3- used loadjava to load it into my database
    4- created a pl/sql procedure that calls this loaded class.
    5- call the procedure
    now at this point ,i hit the error : no csdkjni in java.library.path
    could you please give this a try in your environments and let me know!!

  • Loading an Image to the Database

    Hello
    I have a requirement to load 1000's of images to a database.
    In the pass we have successfully loaded images from a screen using
    select blob_content, id into image, apex_id from apex_application_files where name = :P120_LOAD for update;
    I now tried to use apex_application_file to do the same in a background PL/SQL procedure
    COMPANY_ID_FILE:= 'E:\' || COMAPANY_ID || '.jpg';
    select blob_content, id into image, apex_id from apex_application_files where name = COMPANY_ID_FILE for update;
    This does not seam to work!?
    I believe apex_application_files is not the right function to used in this case
    Any comments or recommendation very welcome
    Thanks

    Hello
    I pleased to report it is all working now.
    My thanks to the people above, Harm ten Hapel from Oracle support and the link below
    http://www.psoug.org/reference/dbms_lob.html
    This is what I did:
    Created a directory within Oracle which linked the directory on the Oracle server. It does not create a directory on the server. This need to done manually.
    create directory data as 'c:\data';
    To show that you created the directory correctly
    select directory_path from all_directories;
    To delete a directory
    drop directory data;
    The code I used is
    begin
    TEMP:= data ||'.jpg'; -- file name on the server
    dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_blob,true); -- initialise the Blob field
    l_bfile := BFILENAME('HOTEL',TEMP); -- Assigns file
    DBMS_LOB.fileopen (l_bfile, DBMS_LOB.file_readonly); -- open file
    lgh_file := dbms_lob.getlength(l_bfile); -- collects file length
    dbms_lob.loadfromfile(l_blob, l_bfile, lgh_file); -- reads file
    DBMS_LOB.fileclose (l_bfile); -- closes file
    --- Extracts the information about the blob data
    DBMS_LOB.CREATETEMPORARY(attributes, TRUE, DBMS_LOB.CALL);
    ORDSYS.ORDImage.getProperties(l_blob,
    attributes,
    img_mimeType,
    img_width,
    img_height,
    fileFormat,
    compressionFormat,
    contentFormat,
    img_contentLength);
    image:= l_blob;
    RECORD_FOUND:= 0;
    --- This is important as the system will only let you open a small number of file at open. If the file open fails it still counts as an open file and find the load programming failing with too many file open error
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN -- catches all 'no data found' errors
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('DATA_FOUND - file = ' || TEMP);
    DBMS_LOB.fileclose (l_bfile);
    record_found:= 1;
    end;
    I hope it is of help
    Thanks to all

  • Loading .txt file in the Database

    I want to load .txt file in a table with datatype as LONG.
    Please Specify how i do i upload it using SQL Loader or any other Utility.
    Detail step would be a great help as this very urgent.
    Thanks
    Mona

    Check the SQL*Loader chapter of the Utilities book: http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/server.817/a76955/toc.htm

  • Loading class oracle/jpub/runtime/dbws/DbwsProxy into the database

    I am trying to create a Database Web Services call-out in PL/SQL, however, encountered error "ORA-29540: class oracle/jpub/runtime/dbws/DbwsProxy does not exist". I followed some steps to load utl_dbws.jar, utl_dbws_jserver.jar and dbwsclient.jar into the database, but still getting the same error saying DbwsProxy class does not exist. This is very frustrating and I do not know how to fix this. I tried to just load DbwsProxy.class into the database and it executed successfully, however, the database is still complaining that oracle/jpub/runtime/dbws/DbwsProxy does not exist. Does anyone has any idea what's going on? Thanks much. I am cracking my brain out here.

    This is the error message I received when loading:
    The following operations failed
    class java/lang/NumberFormatException: creation (createFailed)
    class java/lang/Number: creation (createFailed)
    class java/lang/Object: creation (createFailed)
    class java/lang/String: creation (createFailed)
    class java/lang/Long: creation (createFailed)
    exiting : Failures occurred during processing
    This is the error message I received in the database after loading dbwsclient.jar:
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-29540: class oracle/jpub/runtime/dbws/DbwsProxy does not exist
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_DBWS", line 135
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_DBWS", line 132
    ORA-06512: at "MICHELLE.MICH", line 8
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    So that class is still missing. You were suspecting that this class is not loaded successfully into the database? Is it possible for me to just load that particular class into the database?
    Thanks.

  • Report load is slow after changing database servers

    Here is the problem:
    Crystal Reports saves the design time database connection info in the rpt.  When our application tries to run a report against a production database, the rpt takes a long time (60 sec.) to load.  After it has loaded we can change the database logon (in our code) and the report runs successfully.
    It seems like Crystal is trying to connect to the development DB server (but it cannot see it from the production environment).  If we edit the rpt and save the production database connection info in it, the report loads in less than a second.
    We are an ISV and our application is used at over 2000 sights so it is not practical to edit each rpt at each location.  We have 737 reports and 908 subreports in our application!
    We are currently using the Visual Studio 2008 version of Crystal Reports.  This did not seem to be a problem with VB6/CR8.5.
    Is there some way to tell Crystal not to try connecting to the DB during the report.load?

    I had the same issue with Crystal Report XI R2. The issue seems to be when loading the *.rpt file. The Crystal Report API reads the *.rpt file and read all the relevant info from the report file and store it in the ReportDocument object and generates the object tree. It seem to do a database lookup for every database or table it finds in the main report and all the sub-reports and also for every SQL Expression you have in each report. Since the development database is different to the runtime database I think it waits until it times out. So more sub-reports you have the longer time it takes to load.
    You can resolve this issue by adding the design-time database name mapped to a runtime database ip. For this you need to update the host file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder with the relevant info. By adding this there will be no name lookup.
    For example, if the report have the service ID as RACE, add the name RACE and the runtime database ip address in to the host file. Then there will be no lookup. Earlier it took 2 minutes to load the report but then the entry it took only 1 second.
    e.g.
    10.0.0.1     RACE
    Also have a look at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vscrystalreports/thread/cb6d6fc9-9d57-486c-972e-33b03d4a5759
    Hope this helps.

  • Connection to the database

    I have a page that contains a task menu. The links of some of the tasks leaves me to a jsp page. The bean associated to the loaded page connects to the database to load the dynamic data.
    My questions are: each time someone loads the jsp page, a connection to the database is established? Where do I have to close the connection?
    Is this a good solution or is it better to use a servlet that in its init method establishes the connection, and then pass this connection to the bean? If I use a servlet the action of the taks menu will have to call the servlet and then this will have to redirect to the correct jsp page. Am I right?
    Where can I find a good example that helps me decide when to use a servlet or when to use a jsp page?
    Thanks for your comments and help

    The links of some of the tasks lead you to jsp pages. From each of those jsp pages call a servlet (keep only 1 common servlet).
    This servlet would determine the request type (i.e. from which of the jsp pages the request is coming from). Based on the request type the servlet would perform the operations.
    Write a class say, CreateConnectionHelper that creates the connection.
    The servlet will call this class whenever it needs to create a connection.
    After you create a connection perform the database operations and close the connection.

  • 3rd node is taking 15% of CPU without any load and connection on the server

    Hi,
    I am struggling to resolve the 3rd node is taking 15% of CPU without any load and connection on the server. but not find clues for this. Please give me some inputs.
    The issue is:
    We have 8 databases on our 3node RAC (11.2.0.1). One of the performance team guy reported that 3rd node is taking 15%cpu utilization when there is no load and connection to the database and at that time the other 2 node are taking only 1%cpu. even i have checked it by using top command and it is almost given same results.
    To come out of this issue, i have two solution in my mind, but i am not sure whether this approach is good or bad. the plans are
    (1). shutdown the databases and check the cpu usage. --to findout is there any thing wrong with Kernel parameters or at system level.
    (2). Shutdown the databases and CRS on the 3rd node and reboot the server.
    If above process is correct then i need to take permission from my manager.
    I am total stuck, what i need to do. Is there any other approach to resolve this issue. Please help me, this is very critical issue for me.
    Also i have checked from GV$SESSION for the active session, but i didn't find any connection apart from oracle processes.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you Guzma for your suggestion,
    When i checked the gv$session for the active sessions from only 2databases, Do i need to check in all the databases and make sure there are no active session and try for the 1st solution.
    -more over i have observed that one of the oracle process is taking 99% of the 15%cpu when i checked from top command. i have tried to find out the what the session is from below, but it given no results from the 2of the DB's.

  • How to load a XML file into the database

    Hi,
    I've always only loaded data into the database by using SQL-Loader and the data format was Excel or ASCII
    Now I have to load a XML.
    How can I do?
    The company where I work has Oracle vers. 8i (don't laugh, please)
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Tough job especially if the XML data is complex. The have been some similar question in the forum:
    Using SQL Loader to load an XML File -- use 1 field's data for many records
    SQL Loader to upload XML file
    Hope they help.

  • Loading issue : Error: sql error in the database while accessing a table

    Hello,
    where as one of the DTP in the process chain failed due to  *Error: sql error in the database while accessing a table*, where as in the short dump it showing as Transaction log of data base is full., but i checked the data base space in DB02, more space is available . once we run the same DTP by manually its successful. its not through  any errors.
    could u please help me out solve the problem.
    Thanks
    siva kumar.

    it might be a lock. do you drop index before loading?
    the database might be full at the moment of loading and not later if many loadings happen at the same time on the same system...
    when you then rerun your dtp manually, it can go through as it's perhaps the only one running at that moment...
    you can try to set the btch parameter to 1...this will help in some cases.
