Loading data from XML hosted on a site accepted by Apple?
I'm about to start working on an App that holds the template and code to build the stuff. It gets its level design, variables and other things from an XML hosted on a website/server. The app will also load pictures from the website/server to be displayed in the app. So, what people download is the "shell". Would Apple allow this app into the app store? Considering I've read how they don't allow external code to be loaded into the app, or is this only limited to code inside external swfs?
I did search before I posted and read only the threads that seemed to cover what I wanted to know. As replies here are rare I decided to read ALL threads I got from my search and actually found one with the answer, sort of, as he doesn't say if he loads variables, which to me is like code , but I hope Apple will be ok with my app loading external stuff through an external xml aswell, like they were for this guy:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3868894#3868894
* I'm loading xml-data and pictures (like icons for other apps) from an external server into the app, to promote our other apps. Works like a charm and apple had no problem with this.

1. Create a Infosource(ZIS), with transfer structure in accordance with the structure in the XML file. (You can open the XML file with MS Excel.This way you can get to know the structure).
2. Activate the transfer rules.
3. After activation ;from the Menu Bar , Select Extras>Create BW Datasource with SOAP connection.
4.Now Activate the Infosurce again, this creates an XML based Datasource(6AXXX...)
5.These steps would create two sub nodes under the Infosource(ZIS).
6.Select Myself system and create a data package and execute it run in Init mode(without Data Transfer).
7. This would create an entry in RSA7(BW delta Queue)
8. Again create another Delta Infopackage under it, and run it. Now the Datasource(6AXXXXXX..) would turn green in RSA7.
9.In Function builder(SE37) select your FM( do a search ,F4, on the datasource 6AXXX....) .
10.Inside this RFC based FM , from the Menu Bar select Utilities>more Utilities>Create Web services>From Function module.
11.A wizard will guide you through the next steps .
12.once this is done a Web serrvice would be enabled in WSADMIN. Select your FM and execute it.
13.From here you can upload the data from XML file into BW delta queue.

Loading data from xml file - please help
Hi, I am new to attempting to get data from an xml file load
in flash. I followed a tutorial in a new fla and it seemed to work
fine, I then tried to adapt it to my own needs which worked fine.
But then when trying to implement this into my news section it
doesn't seem to work.
I am trying to make a news section, that displays the date
and news article. This is in within a movie clip, I even tried
putting it in the timeline of the scene but still nothing.
- I have 2 dynamic text boxes, date_txt and news_txt
- The xml file is named news.xml,
- both the fla and the xml are in the same folder
This is the actionscript I am using:
function loadXML(loaded) {
if (loaded) {
_root.thedate =
this.firstChild.childNodes[0].childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue;
_root.thenews =
this.firstChild.childNodes[0].childNodes[1].firstChild.nodeValue;
date_txt.text = _root.thedate;
news_txt.text = _root.thenews;
} else {
trace("file not loaded!");
xmlData = new XML();
xmlData.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlData.onLoad = loadXML;
xmlData.load("news.xml");
This is what I have in the xml document:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<news>
<article>
<date>date</date>
<news>newentry.</news>
</article>
<article>
<date>Doug Engelbart</date>
<news>Invented the mouse at the Stanford Research
Institute</news>
</article>
</news>
Does anyone perhaps have any ideas of what the problem could
be?
Help much appreciated.Hi
_root refers to the Main Timeline, if your date_txt and
news_txt are in a movieclip ie: news_mc
then your path should read _root.news_mc.date_txt.text and
_root.news_mc.news_txt.text
You will also need to embed the characters you wish to use
inside your dymanic text for it to show.
Hope it helps -

Srollpane scrolls when loaded data from XML, not when loaded data from ASP
Hi,
I load into scrollpane a swf, which has a dynamicly loaded
data. If I use the XML file, it works (the scrollbar is visible),
but if I use a asp file, which creates xml, it doesn't work (the
scrollbar is not visible). Any ideas?Hi,
let say I have a A.swf and a B.swf. In A.swf I have a
scrollpane in to wich the B.swf is loaded. Below is the code in
B.swf. If I load the data from a asp file, the scrollbar in the
scrollpane is not visible, but if I use the xml file, the scrollbar
is visible.
What I've meant is that I think that Flash gets the same form
of data, no matter if I use the asp or xml, because the asp creates
the same xml form as I use in the xml file. I hope this makes any
sense. -
Beginner here: I have a lot of data saved in xml (here is the
format -Country,Region -child of country,States-child of Region,
and Counties -child of States).Within each node I have a
description of the county/state/region and census data. I would
like to be able to have the data in the xml displayed either when I
hover over a county or the user choosing the county via a combo
box. My question is :ist his possible? Is there some example
someone has that you could point me to? I am not asking for someone
to write this for me but provide any guidance that you are able to
provide.
Thanks in advance.This is a pretty good article that might help out as well:

We receive an xml file that contains the following:
<SAMPLE> SAMPLE_ID="123" PRODUCT_CODE="B222" IMPORT_FLAG="N" COUNTRY_ORIGIN="US" </SAMPLE>
This info should be stored into SAMPLE table which has SAMPLE_ID, and PRODUCT_CODE, IMPORT_FLAG, and COUNTRY_ORIGIN columns.
Is there any Oracle XML tool that can map the info inside the tag to the columns in the SAMPLE table?
Or should we modify the xml file to the following format before we store it into the SAMPLE table?
<SAMPLE>
<SAMPLE_ID>123</SAMPLE_ID>
<PRODUCT_CODE>B222</PRODUCT_CODE>
<IMPORT_FLAG>N</IMPORT_FLAG>
<COUNTRY_ORIGIN>US</COUNTRY_ORIGIN>
</SAMPLE>
Thanks, DianaYou need to create an XSLT Transformation that transforms the sample format in attributes to elements, then use
the XML SQL Utility to insert it.
Or, you can use an XSQL Page to automate these steps. If your transformation
is called "t.xsl" and your source
Xml document is called "src.xml"
then if you build an XSQL Page
named "doit.xsql" like this:
<xsql:insert-request transform="t.xsl" table="yourtable"
xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql"/>
Then you can use the XSQL Command-line
utility to transform and insert your
"src.xml" data with:
$ xsql doit.xsql posted-xml=src.xml -

The trouble in "<default>:" - if you set XML_PATH as C:\DATA_FILE\www.xml instead <default>:C:\DATA_FILE\www.xml- it will work correctly.

How to load data from oracle table to XML using ODI ?
Hello Team
I am trying to load data from an oracle table to an xml file. I have configured the physical and the logical schemas for the same. I have used SQL to SQL as LKM and SQL to SQL Append as IKM with Sunopsis Memory Engine as staging area.
After this, when I am executing the interface, it is executed without any errors but to my surprise I am not finding the relevant data in the xml file. What could be the reason ?
Please look into this and lemme know how to solve it.
Thanks.908458 wrote:
Hello Phanikanth
Even IKM SQL Control Append is not solving the problem. There are many " order columns" in the target xml table. I have not mapped them or specified any order. Does the problem persist because of this ?
Thanks

Loading data from a flatfile versus xml
As of now we are loading data from the AS400 by using flatfiles.
For the sake of uniformity and flexibility we want to start using xml instead of flatfiles.
But for what I have seen the loading of xml seems to be a lot slower then flatfiles.
I think I have to chose between two options
Loading infto xlmldb - XMLTYPE
or
make use of DBMS_XMLSTORE.
I think it would be best to use the pl/sql package because we will not need extra storage for the xml table and then the fastest way should be dbms_xmlstore since it is written in c.
If someone can come up with another, faster way, fine with me.
If I want to use the package I have the following problem.
I know how to tell which columns to load but my source xmlfile needs to be stored in at least 2 tables.
It was possible with wb_xml_load but I think dbms_xmlstore is the faster solution.
Can anybody tell me how to proceed?
A little performance degradation is OK but we still need to load lots of data, so the faster the better.

Load data in xml file into Pdf form created by LiveCycle Designer
I want to load data in xml file into Pdf form when Pdf opened and Form field will be filled with data from xml file .I try to use $host.importdata("filename.xml"); But i could not find suitable place to run my code. Can anyone give me some advice? thank you.
Hi,
extract your xml and then you can use insert all clause.
here's very small example on 10.2.0.1.0
SQL> create table table1(id number,val varchar2(10));
Table created.
SQL> create table table2(id number,val varchar2(10));
Table created.
SQL> insert all
2 into table1 values(id,val)
3 into table2 values(id2,val2)
4 select extractValue(x.col,'/a/id1') id
5 ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/value') val
6 ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/value2') val2
7 ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/id2') id2
8 from (select xmltype('<a><id1>1</id1><value>a</value><id2>2</id2><value2>b</value2></a>') col from dual) x;
2 rows created.
SQL> select * from table1;
ID VAL
1 a
SQL> select * from table2;
ID VAL

Automatically trigger the event to load data from Planning cube to Standard Cube
Hello,
We have a below set up in our system..
1. A Planning BEx query using which user makes certain entries and writes back data to the planning cube.
2. An actual reporting cube which gets data from the planning cube above.
Now, what we want to do is to automate the data load from Planning cube to Reporting cube.
This involves 2 things..
1. Change the setting " Change real time load behaviour " of the planing cube to Planning.
2. Trigger the DTP which loads data from Planning cube to reporting cube.
We want to automate the above two steps...
I have tried few things to achieve the same..
1. Created an event in SM64,
2. In the Planning cube "Manage" Screen, clicked on "Subsequent Processing" and provided the event details. ( Not sure if its the correct place to provide the event detail ).
3. Wrote a ABAP program which changes the setting of the planning cube ( " Change real time load behaviour " to Loading )
4. Created a process chain, where we have used the event as a start variant, used the ABAP program as a next step, DTP run as the last step..
This i hoped, would trigger the event as soon as a new request comes and sits in planning cube, which in turn would trigger the process chain which would load the data from Planning cube to reporting cube..
This is not working. I dont think the event is triggering, and even if does i am not sure whether it will start the process chain automatically. Any ideas please ?hi,
try to do the transformation directly in the input cube by using CR of type exit, more details :
