Loading Website Assets

Hi,
Im working with actionscript for a while but must of all i developed applications for websites (image viewers, banners, slideshow, etc)
I worked on a website that contains a lot of images and i created a progress bar on each page that will load the images before placing
them on stage, but even when the images are loaded, it doesn't feel smooth and i get alot of loading issues with old computers.
I saw some sites on the web that contains a lot of advanced assets like 3d and complex animation and those sites are running really smooth,
there is a progress bar on the main page that loads all the information and i wanted to know if usually websites loads images and then run or
load all the assets including movieclips, sounds, video, etc.... If thats the case is it true that most websites load all required assets from
the library using AS and place them on the place on stage and that the actual stage and frames on the fla file are empty ?
Should it increase the speed and smoothness of the website and be best practice for developing websites in flash ?

Yeah I have to agree with Bob, it's not really about how you load assets although that simply affects how long it takes to load the whole file or the assets individually... I could give you some tips that helped me optimize my apps because I used to face alot of trouble with loading time and stuff like that:
1. Whenever you can do something using code without creating it at author time then go for it. For example, when you want to draw a rectangle or a circle, rather than creating it in the Flash IDE, just use the graphics class to do so... this keeps your file size smaller.
2. Set your frame rate to 30 - 35 frames per second. This should help you create smooth animations.
3. Load assets externally using XML rather than embedding them into your swf file. This reduces the file size of your swf dramatically. Also, it ensures that the visitor's computer loads only what he/she would like to see rather than loading the whole app/site together.
4. Use TweenMax as your tweening engine. It is faster than the Tween() class and much easier to use.

Firefox will work fine, then for no reason stop loading websites.

I'll be having a great time on Firefox when out of nowhere it will stop loading websites - it won't give me an error message, it will just saying 'connecting' and spin forever. This can happen at any time and is beginning to get really frustrating - sometimes I will go an hour without it happening, sometimes 30 seconds. I'm currently typing this on Internet Explorer, whilst Firefox refuses to open a webpage in the background.
Whenever this happens, I'll have to exit Firefox. This would be fine, although reopening Firefox will then give me a 'Firefox is already running, but not responding' error, followed by the now classic 'Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded, it is missing or inaccessible.' Trying to close it with the Task Manager doesn't seem to work - even when using it with administrative privileges it will not disappear. Right-clicking and selecting 'go to Detail' and trying to close it from there just gives me an 'Access Denied' error. Earlier today, after restarting the computer, Firefox gave me this message before I had even opened it, yet other times it works fire and loads my profile perfectly.
Is there a way to deal with this problem? I've tried creating a new profile, I've tried refreshing Firefox and I've tried Uninstalling and Reinstalling. This happens with or without add-ons installed and is driving me crazy. I have used Firefox for years so have a large selection of bookmarks and passwords that I don't want to lose. Currently running this on a fairly up-to-date laptop with Windows 8 installed.

I was having this same exact problem for the last week. It started happening after Firefox updated. I tried a few different things that didn't help. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling which didn't help either. I finally fixed the problem tonight.
Here are the steps I took to fix it. Make sure you are logged into sync and hit the sync button to update it. This will save your bookmarks and user settings.
If you want to be able to restore your current session go into your main drive and click users, your user name, AppData, Roaming, Mozilla, Firefox, Profiles, open that folder and copy sessionstore-backups and save it to your desktop or somewhere you can remember.
After you have done that uninstall Firefox. Now restart your computer into Safe Mode.
Go into your main drive usually C on most computers and click users, your user name, AppData, Roaming. Click the Mozilla folder and delete it. Now hit the back button and click on Local. Find the Mozilla folder in there and delete it too.
You can now restart your computer and install a fresh copy of Firefox. Once it is installed you can log into sync and it will restore all your settings and bookmarks.
If you want to restore your previous session close Firefox and make your way back to AppData, Roaming, Mozilla, Firefox, Profiles, open the new profiles folder (Example: abcd1234.default) and paste the folder you saved called sessionstore-backups in there.
You can now open Firefox and all your tabs will be there, and after a few mins all your settings and bookmarks will be restored by sync. You shouldn't have any more problems following this method. The pages no longer stop loading and it closes like it is supposed to.

I can no longer load website through firefox updated (tho, I can thru other search engines and browsers) fixing proxy settings didn't work. Other ideas?

I upgraded recently my firefox browser on my home computer which still runs Windows XP. I can no longer find websites thru firefox, tho, I can load websites through a google or yahoo search.
The firefox browser won't download secure or unsecure site. I type in the full name of the site, and it just hangs. I do not receive an error message.
Internet explorer continues to work fine on the computer.
I emptied my cookies and search history and updated the proxy setting to "no proxy". I still have the same problem.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall firefox with the hopes of changing the initial settings (to see if I should have disabled or abled more of the boxes). Unfortunately, the program didn't fully uninstall .. and the firefox reverts to where it was the last time I logged on.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

If you are creating an AIR application you can use the HTMLLoader class.

Since upgrading to FF 8, tabs are slow to load website if not at all. I have to usually click on reload tab to get site to load

Since upgrading to FF 8 tabs will not load websites fast if at all. To get the site to load, I usually have to click reload tab.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.
Try to decrease the value of the pref network.http.max-connections from 256 to 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

Let me ask agagin to all experts.
I want to make A condition to be repriced at the time of billing.
For this, I have to set condition category as 'L' (Generally new when copying).
But I do not want to do in that way becauuse I am maintaining big operated system now.
In addition, though I migrate open orders after changing config. as 'L', it is almost impossible for use to migrate because we have more than a thound open orders per a DAY as Globalized system.
That is why I am asking.
Simply I can create new condition but as I mentioned, there are various recycling fee so we already created about 10 conditions. And this recycling conditions are linked to REA package of SAP. So creating another 10 more conditions can not be a way for us.
At last, what I want is not to be shown this condition only in billing doc.
'A' condition should be displayed in both Sales order and Billing doc.
And simultaneously, when the billing is created and if user changed 'A' condition master, then new value which is different from sales order have to be reflected in billing doc.

Firefox and other 32 bit programs cannot load websites intermittently

From time to time, perhaps once a day, firefox cannot load any websites for about 30 min to several hours. No error message is given, the page just continues to attempt to load. A similar thing occurs in thunderbird at this time as well as IE 8. However IE 8 64 bit operates without a problem.
I commplete all instruction in the support page "Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can", without sucess. I have also disabled all addons and puggins.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

after i have upgrade firefox cannot load websites(facebook) but other programs can, i cannot see my friend whose is online,and cannot chat with them, cannot share video ....what should i do?

Firefox cannot load any webpages, but IE can.
I have tried everything suggested. This problem happened befoer I updated Firefox and did not resolve after I updated firefox.
I tried changing internet settings, disabling firewall, and even disabling IVP6, but nothing is working.

You should e able to install FlashPlayer separately on IE and Firefox. So you may use Flash 11.3 on IE and 11.2 or 10.3 on Firefox.
Work from the administrator account. First of all sort out Firefox, use the Adobe uninstaller to uninstall Flash before reinstalling 11.2 Afterwards check that IE is ok, the Uninstaller may have changed that so you may need to reinstall Flash on IE.

You are apparently using an outdated Firefox 8. That is not secure you should update to the latest Release Firefox 13 (or within a day or so Firefox 14)
You may also encounter problems relating to use of RealPlayer software and that software may affect use of FlashPlayer 11.3

P.S.
When you finish set Firefox's FlashPlayer not to upgrade, and until this issue is resolved do not follow suggestions from Adobe, or Plugincheck etc. to upgrade Flash.
Use this test page form Adobe in each browser and account to check Flash is working ok

background - family community home pc...mozilla worked great for the longest time (along side IE)...all of a sudden mozilla can't connect to any website...IE always can (yuk)
troublshooting steps (still can't connect to web w/firefox):
1. Removed Mozilla, re-installed, same results
2. Searched for all mozilla folders. Deleted two folders and also daughter's mozilla iphone folder. Removed Mozilla, re-installed, set connection to "no proxy", same results.
3. Ran "House Call" - no malware found.

I went through the FAQ guide for firefox not loading webpages, but after having changed both boolean setting in the about:config section of the firefox advanced settings, deleting and re-adding it to the program permissions list in my firewall (mcafee antivirus 2011), and even attempting to completely disable the firewall for a period of time, I am still unable to browse the internet on firefox. Internet explorer, however, does work.

Trouble loading jpg assets

I'm trying to load jpeg assets into encore. After I load 6 the 7th one comes in blank. I don't understand. I'm running a windows XP platform and encore CS4 version 4.0.1.048. Second issue is I profile my monitor. When I pull up a jpeg ( converted from a TIFF file ) in bridge or photoshop is coloration is OK. When I put the same singular file as an asset in encore the coloration is quite a bit different. What I'm attempting to do is create a simple DVD.
Would appreciate help.

What is the pixel x pixel size of these JPEG's? They should be Scaled to the Project Frame Size in PS first. This ARTICLE will give you some tips.
Now, Encore is not a Color Managed Space, as video is not color managed. It is most likely that your color management, when by-passed for video display is not that close to the native. PS, AI, InDesign, etc., are all Color Managed. This trips up a lot of users, when they go to video.

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.

Hangs when loading websites at times

this happens only in firefox if it is taking too long to load website, which happens quite often on desktop and laptop, I have to stop the load, then restart and it always comes up immediately. Explorer doesn't do that, but I don't want to switch back unless I have to.
