Loading xml file with multiple rows

I am loading data from xml files using xsl for transformation. I have created xsl's and loaded some of the data. In an xml file with multiple row, it's only loading one (the first) row. Any idea how I can get it to read and load all the records in the file???

Could some please help me with the above. I desparately need to move forward.

    Hi Madhu,
    You might also consider using Excel Spreadsheet XML as the target structure (namespace is urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:spreadsheet).  When you double-click the resulting xml on a PC it automatically opens with Excel. So, users don't see a difference.  It will open up a lot of options with formatting including creating multiple worksheets if you wanted to.  Best of all you can stick with XML.

  • Loading XML file with missing elements dynamically through ODI

    Hi Guys ,
    I have the below xml file with two nodes Employee and Address. On a daily basis , sometimes the address element might not come in from the source xml file , but my interface has columns mapped to address elements, and hence it can fail due to the source element not being found in the file or data might not get loaded due to the 'and' condition in the sql query generated between the employee and address elements.  Is there a way where i can load the data dynamically where i can search in the file only for the elements (Employee) present and load data only for those elements dynamically?
    XML File:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <EMP>
    <Empsch>
    <Employee>

    Why not use T-SQL for generating XML? You can use FOR XML for that

    This all works just fine, however, it's not quite what I need. For starters, the multiple tag data is concatenated and when I try to specifically query it out using a where clause I get ORA 22950. So, not sure how to deal with that.
    Is it possible to use sqlldr to get the 200MB XML file loaded into a table like that above?
    Now, given multiple "feature" and "category" data per "MainName", I need to use the SQL to dump the XML data into a set of tables built to model the structure of the XML...
    roughly..

    ID2 varchar2(10)
    ID3 varchar2(10)
    desc varchar2(100)
    Features_Table (
    ID1 varchar2(10)
    feature varchar2(100)
    Category_Table (
    ID1 varchar2(10)
    name varchar2(100)
    attribute varchar2(100)
    What are the groups recommendations here? Should I continue down this route or is there a better way?

    When I suggested the option to parse the XML in PL/SQL I was referring to pulling the data into PL/SQL and then performing all parsing activity against the PL/SQL copy and you don't need to make SQL calls.
    Here is a quick sample for parsing out all the Category/name elements from the XML once it is loaded into PL/SQL
    DECLARE
      l_index     PLS_INTEGER;
      l_category  XMLTYPE;
      l_db_row    XMLTYPE := XMLTYPE('<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <MainTitle Version="1.0" Date="2009-01-11">
       <MainName>
          <ID1>A</ID1>
          <ID2>ABC</ID2>
          <ID3>ABC123</ID3>
          <Desc>Some text</Desc>
          <feature>f1</feature>
          <feature>f2</feature>
          <Category>
             <name>n1</name>
             <attribute>more stuff</attribute>
          </Category>
          <Category>
             <name>n2</name>
             <attribute>even more stuff</attribute>
          </Category>
          <Category>
             <name>n3</name>
             <attribute>different stuff</attribute>
          </Category>
          <Category>
             <name>n4</name>
             <attribute>More of the same</attribute>
             <attribute>But different still</attribute>
                   <attribute>Even more different junk</attribute>
              </Category>
         </MainName>
    </MainTitle>');
    BEGIN
       l_index := 1;
       WHILE l_db_row.Existsnode('/MainTitle/MainName/Category[' ||
                                 To_Char(l_index) || ']') > 0
       LOOP
          l_category := l_db_row.Extract('/MainTitle/MainName/Category[' ||
                                           To_Char(l_index) || ']');
          dbms_output.put_line(l_category.extract('Category/name/text()').getStringVal());
          l_index := l_index + 1;
       END LOOP;
    END;You could repeat the WHILE loop to parse out the attribute column as well since it repeats. This is what Dave's post was showing and what I was referring to.
    Hint: If you are trying to use .extract to go after an optional node, you need to verify the node exists via existsNode first. If you don't you can get an "ORA-30625: method dispatch on NULL SELF argument is disallowed" error when trying to extract a non-existent node.

  • Obtain Array from an XML file with Multiple Arrays

    Hi,
    So I have been struggling with this program I am making for the last few months but I am almost there. I have a program that creates multiple arrays and place them one after another in an xml file and each array has its own unique name. Now I would like to create a VI that takes this XML file and when the user inputs the specific array name they are looking for it goes into the xml file finds the entire array under that name and displays it in an output indictor to be viewed on the VI. Attached is a sample of my xml file and the VI that creates this xml file.
    Thanks,

    Here is a slightly different version. The one above reads from a file. This is how you would read from an already loaded XML string.

  • How to populate a form from an xml file with multiple records

    I want to be able to create a single form that will add pages as needed based upon the number of records being imported from an xml file.
    I have an IRS form that does this exactly, but I do not know how to re-create it.  I entered data into the form, then exported that data to xml.  Then I opened that xml file in excel and added more records (this is just an easy way to manage the xml data in a tabular form).  Then I import the changed xml file into the IRS form and it adds as many pages as I have records.  Perfect!  Unfortunately, I cannot edit the form to examine the technique.  It does not appear to be relying upon any additional local javascript files.  It does use an 'add page' button which may suggest the form is using the template .spawn() technique, but when I try that in my own form, it gives me unique field names for each page which are then not consistent with the xml data.  Hopefully someone can help me understand what I am missing.

    did you want

  • XML file, with multiple customer records - post DEBMAS over Integr.Process

    Hi all,
    is it possible to map a single XML file message that contains multiple records for customer master to multiple messages ?
    I know that it is possible to do a "multi IDOC " mapping but then the splitting of the messages is done by the IDOC adapter, not earlier.
    I have to process every single customer master record by an integration process to check if its creation or change (and get the customer number).
    When I try in the interface mapping to set the receiver to "0 to unbound" then also the message format of the sender requires two additional hierarchie levels "...message, message1" . My orginal file does not contain these tags.
    Is XI not able to handle this easy requirement without making a university study out of it?
    Thank you very much for your help
    best regards
    Hans

    You need not worry about those tags to be in your file. Those are added while mapping is being executed. All that you need to do is use file content conversion in sender adapter and put your lookup logic in Integration Process and mapping..!!
    You do not need a university degree, if you understadn the concepts..!!

  • Error loading xml file with sqlldr

    Hi there,
    I am having trouble loading an xml file via sqlldr into oracle.
    The version i am running is Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production and the file size is 464 MB.
    It ran for about 10 hours trying to load the file and then threw up the error:

    I have loaded a file of 170MB using the same process succesfully.
    Any Ideas?
    Cheers,
    Dan.

    Looked a bit into the issue (ORA-22813) and although it can be caused by a lot of issues varrying database versions, you could have a go at sizing up your PGA database parameter. See Oracle support Doc ID 837220.1 for more info.

  • Loading Hex Files with multiple records with each line starting with : record marker, how do I load this hex file into a front panel table ? thanks in advance, Jeff.

    I have written a routine that loads a Hex file, checks for record marker,length,address etc then loads the data into a table on front panel. However, my routine only loads single record hex files. I need to be able to load multiple record files, I need to identify the ':' colon record marker start for each record in the hex file, I just can't see how to loop my routine so that all records with ':' prefix marker are loaded.

    Jeff,
    I'm not exactly sure of what you are trying to do. Is it possible you could post your code, or a screen shot of the diagram in question, so that I can get a better understanding, and possibly offer some assistance?
    I am familiar with hex files, but not with the : marker separating records. This may be able to be solved with simple text parsing, and as I am not familiar with how you are retrieving and/or displaying the files, I require more information.
    Thanks

    Can you plz explain to me thisIt is because you did not provide us with a valid xml structure so I used 11g's xmlparse function to create a xmltype even with the xml not being valid (no root tag).
    With a valid xml structure I could use the xmltype constructor instead and go on the same way as before:
    SQL> select *

             'table'

    Is there any way (short of actually reading the file and looking for the beginning of each record) that I can get the parser to do multiple stard and end documents or at least get it to read and parse all the entries in the file?
    Thanks

    Yout file should look something like this: <
    ?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
    <start>
    <A><V>Wake up to WonderWidgets!</V>
    <C>Why are great</C>
    </A>
    <A>Eric</A>
    </start>
    you can only have one root element ( e.g. <start> )

    Please suggest how i can insert the original xml without error.

    SQL> call UTL_HTTP.set_proxy('proxy.mydomain.com:8080', NULL);
    Call completed.

    4 begin
    5 t_result := utl_http.request('http://www.fgdc.gov/metadata/fgdc-std-001-1998.dtd');

    It is giving error, we made a call to UTL_HTTP.set_proxy, it is ok.
    Is there a way that i have dtd file, fgdc-std-001-1998.dtd on local machine and dtd gets validated when i
    insert the xml without need for oracle to go to internet. I need both dtd validation with internet and from local path options.
    Please help, thankx for timely help

  • Loading XML File into Oracle 10G XE

    I am trying to load an XML file into 10G XE from the Utilities interface, I have created a Table to load into but when I try to load I get the following cryptic error "XML Load Error". There is no other information, can someone give me some insight where to start to resolve this problem?

    The error messages when importing fails provided by APEX 2.1 are not very useful as they do not provide any clue...
    If possible, you can try to load XML file with SQL*Loader - probably you will get then more useful error messages.
