Local C/S Application call from EP

Hi.
We have several C/S application developed by power builder and We want to integrate into SAP EP.
I heard we can do this using active-x control.
Anybody know how to do this ?
Regards, Arnold.

Arnold,
Were you able to integrate/launch your PowerBuilder apps within the SAP EP?  We have a few MS Access (and other desktop apps) we'd like to launch via the Portal.  Unfortunately there isn't an ROI to utilize solutions such as Citrix so we have to look at other ways...  I was going to investigate utilizing a URL iView with a 'URL' such as File://c:/WINDOES/Desktop/FileURLs/myapp.exe

  • Need to run VI on boot or call from other application

    I am looking for the most basic way to get Labview to run a VI upon bootup or call from another application (without having to hit the run button on the toolbar.) I would rather not have to build an application; I don't want to buy the professional version. I want my data acquisition to recover from a power outage reboot and keep going without human intervention. Is there a way to build an init that launches the VI in run mode? A colleague of mine has convinced me labview is the way to go for a new experiment, but this is one stumbling block that needs to be resolved. Thanks for any help you can give.

    i have used the startup folder to run labview vi's on several machines and it *can* work just fine.
    however, sometimes there is a timimg problem and i get the message 'vi not found,' then labview usually loads the vi and runs - but leaves the error message, which can cause problems with later operations.
    today i had this problem with a 3.4 G HP machine running Win200. Labview 7.1 & DAQmx.
    my work around solution is to use the *MarcroScheduler* program. i call a it from the startup folder. it does the following
    (a) start Labview 7.1
    (b) wait 1 minute
    (c) execute the vi.
    without the wait state, Labview 7.1 will not run the vi properly.
    good luck with your applications.

  • Excel sheet generation through RFC call from a BSP application

    Hi,
      I am calling a RFC FM ( in R3)  in Event handler 'OnInputProcessing' of a BSP application in a SRM server.
    That function submits a report program which geneates a excel sheet using download FM . Excel sheet is not getting generated.
    But when i am calling this RFC FM  (in R3) from a report program ( in srm server)
    this is generating an ecel sheet.
    I want to have call RFC from BSP application.
    I tried the way of submit a program ( which contains RFC call) from BSP application ,but it is also not generating excel sheet.
    My ultimate AIM is to generate excel sheet by trigerring CALL or submit from BSP
    application.
    can any one propose solution for it.
    Useful answers will be rewarded.

    Hi,
    Which FM is it. I guess that the download generated is a SAP gui oriented solution, which will never work in a web environment

  • Problem displaying WebHelp in firefox called from web application

    We're using RoboHelp 7.03. When the WebHelp is generated, it seems that the navigation topics all immediately begin with a few illegal characters. This isn't a problem in IE -- it ignores these characters and displays our help pages fine. In Firefox, however, the WebHelp loops when trying to open the main topic page and does not display the "Show TOC" link for the sub-pages. (The navigation pages I'm referring to are the skin files, whgdata files, whdata, etc.)
    I should note, this occurs only for the project that we're calling from within a web-based application we offer our customers. Firefox displays the WebHelp correctly when opened regularly from the browser.
    I did a search-and-replace operation on the WebHelp published for the web application. Removing the illegal characters took care of the problem, but I'm wondering if there is any way to remove these characters from the output so we don't have to remember to do the search and replace each time we publish the project? (It's in beta stage right now; we're going to be republishing the help fairly often.)
    I'm not sure if these will display properly, but the illegal characters look like this:
    Thank you,
    Sasha M.

    Those characters are known as the BOM characters. See item 22 in http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/rh7/using_rh7.htm.
    You say the behaviour is different when you run the help independently and when the developers call the help. Could it be that you are viewing it from a different location? What if the help is run from the location the developer's use but independently of the application?

  • The difference in calling an application module from a backing bean

    Hello everybody!
    I don't understand exactly, where is the difference in calling an application module from a backing bean in the following ways.
    Example 1
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ValueBinding vb = context.getApplication().createValueBinding("#{data}");
    BindingContext bc = (BindingContext)vb.getValue(context);
    DCDataControl dc = bc.findDataControl("AppModuleDataControl");
    AppModuleImpl appModule = (AppModuleImpl)dc.getDataProvider();Example 2
    String amDef = "model.services.AppModule";
    String config = "AppModuleLocal";
    AppModuleImpl appModule = (AppModuleImpl)Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(amDef, config);Example 3 (the same like Example 1???)
    String EL = "#{data.AppModuleDataControl.dataProvider}";
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ValueBinding vb = fc.getApplication().createValueBinding(EL);
    AppModuleImpl appModule = (AppModuleImpl)vb.getValue(fc);Please can anybody explain, what the three examples do? Which example is preferred to call an application-module-method from a backing bean?
    Thanks and regards
    Majo
    Edit: I am using ADF BC 10g in JDev10 :)

    Hi :)
    >
    This could work, but can you describe the use case for which you need to get the ApplicationModule?
    Maybe we can find a better way to implement your functionality.
    >
    Sure, i know a lot of better ways to implement the same functionality too but its a huge project, its not my code and we have no time to reimplement this functions ;)
    Frank, i don't understand the first line of your code.
    DCBindingContainer bindings = ... resolve #{bindings}Where do i get the bindingContainer, if I don't have the "JSFUtils"- or "ADFUtils"-classes?
    Regards
    Majo
    Edit:
    Sorry, i have answer, before i think about it ;)
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    Application app = context.getApplication();
    DCBindingContainer bindings = (DCBindingContainer)app.getVariableResolver().resolveVariable(context, "bindings");
    BindingContext bctx = bindings.getBindingContext();
    DCDataControl dc = bctx.findDataControl("AppModuleDataControl");
    AppModuleImpl am = (AppModuleImpl)dc.getDataProvider();or in my backing bean, when i add the property to the faces-config.xml
    DCBindingContainer bindings = this.getBindings();
    BindingContext bctx = bindings.getBindingContext();
    DCDataControl dc = bctx.findDataControl("AppModuleDataControl");
    AppModuleImpl am = (AppModuleImpl)dc.getDataProvider();Is this right?

  • Can you call a plsql application process from a validation?

    Can you call an on-demand plsql application process from a page validation?
    Thank you,
    Gayle

    Gayle:
    I don't think you can do that. You could consider moving the ODP into the database as a stored procedure . The stored procedure can then be referenced in the ODP and in your validation code as well.

  • How to call custom BSP application (copied from standard)

    Hi,
    I came across 1 interesting link in SDN.
    [Enhancement procedure of BSP application HRRCF_RECRUITER in eRecruitment]
    My requirement is also similar.
    I need to copy the HRRCF_TRM_SRCH application.
    I know how to make the changes for the logic (like copying the standard controller & iterator class etc.)
    But I donu2019t know how to call the custom BSP application.
    One requirement is, I need to call a BSP application, in which there are only UI(user interface/screen) changes .
    That is, if there are only changes made to hitlist_cand.bsp page . And no changes made to hitlist_cand.do page.
    Eg: Removing one button from screen.
    Second requirement is, I need to call a BSP application in which there are logic changes also.
    (I know how to  change the standard controller class to custom class)
    Eg: Changing logic of button.
    We tried renaming the application name from standard to custom one (with Namespace=SAP itself, though it gave a warning) in the table T77RCF_LOG_APPL .
    Then we used this name to configure the start page link. But still the execution control is going to standard page & not to custom BSP application.
    How will I know which BSP application(Appl A), is calling the BSP application (Appl B) in which I want to make changes ?
    The starting application is HRRCF_START_INT.
    Would really appreciate solutions posted.
    Thanks,
    Nisha Vengal.

    Hi Nisha,
    I think you have an issue to call custom BSP.
    -     Ignore the warning message (in the table T77RCF_LOG_APPL) as it is just a warning message. I did not touch start page link at all.
    -     Additionally you need to make (I had to made) an entry in table u2018V77RCF_SMG_NAVIu2019.
    Let me know, if you need anything else.

    Hi,
    no, the function is not related to user session. It's actually data synchronization between two systems.
    We'd prefere to keep it in middle tier, through web services on one side and AM on the other. This way we are platform / RDBMS independent.
    I could use a fake system user, eg. "sync" with password "sysnc", but how do I "log on" such user in my EJB code? If I could somehow access AM login context and call login with username and password...?
    Edit:
    it also puzzles me that it's possible to have a page within the aplication that allows anonymous access. The only difference in security context seem to be _isHttp property. getUserPrincipaly returns JpsAnonymousUserImpl in both cases, IsAuthenticated() is false in both cases...

  • [JS CS5.5] Complex Application, want context that current script was called from

    I'm trying to create a slightly sophisticated application that is spread across several script files.  Some functions in these files call either other.  Here is what I want to emulate:
    A.jsx
    if(mainScript=="A.jsx"){
    doA();
    function A(){}
    B.jsx
    #include A.jsx
    if(mainScript=="B.jsx"){
    doB();
    function B(){
    // some stuff
    A();
    //some more stuff
    C.jsx
    #include A.jsx
    #include B.jsx
    #include D.jsx
    main(){
    D();
    A();
    etc...
    Basically, I want a script to act differently depending on if it is the one being called or if it is being called from elsewhere. I thought I could do this pretty easily by using global variables and something like:
    if(mainScript==undefined){
    var mainScript=$.fileName;
    But global variables persist between script calls so this doesn't work. I'm a bit stuck.  Anyone know how to do this?  app.activeScript doesn't work because I am executing through the extendScript toolkit.
    I'm vexed.

    You're definitely not wrong John, this will resolve the problem.  Sometimes, especially when doing development in a large project with lots of interlocking pieces it's convenient to be able to have some test code within each file that tests the functionality of that specific code.  Even moreso when you are new to a language, so when you think you find a better way to do something you can quicky try it out and see what happens without invoking your monolithic program.  It's not difficult to achieve this approach by splitting into two files, it just means that you have to keep twice as many file tabs open and remember which one to switch to  "Go" instead of doing it with the code you are working  on.  It seems like an extra step for no good reason.
    I do this in Java all the time, most of my complex classes have a main() method so they can be executed standalone to try out a quick snippet or test some corner cases.  Comprehensive unit testing would probably be better but the time investment is much greater plus I doubt something like that would be well supported with ExtendScript.
    Is there any different between a jsx and jsxinc file or is that just a common naming convention that you or a community of people use to differentiate files?

    Hello,
    In Firefox 23, as part of an effort to simplify the Firefox options set and protect users from unintentially damaging their Firefox, the option to disable JavaScript was removed from the Firefox Options window.
    However, the option to disable JavaScript was not removed from Firefox entirely. You can still access it from about:config or by installing an add-on.
    '''about:config'''
    # In the address bar, type "about:config" (with no quotes), and press Enter.
    # Click "I'll be careful, I promise"
    # In the search bar, search for "javascript.enabled" (with no quotes).
    # Right click the result named "javascript.enabled" and click "Toggle". JavaScript is now disabled.
    To Re-enable JavaScript, repeat these steps.
    '''Add-ons'''
    You can alternatively install an add-on that lets you disable JavaScript, such as
    *[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/noscript/ No-Script] (to disable JavaScript on a per page basis, as required)
    *[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/quickjava/ QuickJava] (to easily disable and enable JavaScript, automatic loading of images, and other content)
    Thank you and I hope this helps!

  • Endeca webservice call from different Application.

    I am trying to call the Endeca (v2.2.2) Webservice, using the client generated class file from the wsdl file (conversation.wsdl) and pass the query to get the result. Steps so far did
    •     Use apache cxf codegen plugin 2.7.0 to generate the client classes using the above wsdl.
    •     Written junit test case for client class and send the query to server. I can connect to the server but getting back the ConversationFault: Sequence has length 0 but must have length 1
    •     The only method I can use to call from the client is conversationPort.query(request), which is generated by cxf wd12java
    •     Following is the line of code from the client class
    ContentElementConfig config = new ContentElementConfig();
    config.setHandlerFunction("AS select max(p_common_date_epoch) as 'MaxDate' where Social_Media_Type = 'Twitter' group by interaction_author_username, interaction_text, interaction_link, Klout_Score, Followers_Count, DocumentSentiment, calculated_entity_sentiment, SalienceSentiment order by MaxDate desc, Followers_Count desc page (0,50)");
    Request request = new Request();
    request.setState(null);
    request.getContentElementConfig().add(config);

    i am not understanding how i will do that.
    A service wont allow you to access the live instance of an application and instead create its own data session. So while you can query data that belongs to App2, you wont be able e.g. to access a users uncommitted data changes

  • Problem in Proxy call from an application deployed in J2EE engine

    Hi,
    I am trying Java Sender Proxy --> XI --> DB.
    I have generated o/b proxies using integration builder.
    <b>Following is the code that i am using for proxy call and it runs absolutely fine when runnning stand alone</b>
    <code Controller.java>
    Properties p = new Properties();
    p.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.sap.engine.services.jndi.InitialContextFactoryImpl");
    p.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "server:50004");
    p.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "Administrator");
    p.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "password");
    ctx = new InitialContext(p);

    reqtype.setUsername(name);
    reqtype.setPassword(pwd);
    UsersDBMTResponse_Type response = queryOutRemote.usersSyncMI(reqtype);
    role = response.getRole();
    </code>
    I am including this java file(Controller.java) in the same EJB project ProxyEJB which includes
    my beans and home/local/remote interfaces.
    Then I have created a Web Module Project ProxyWeb, that includes Proxy.jsp.
    In proxy.jsp i am using the following code
    <%
    Controller obj = new Controller();
    String name = request.getParameter("uname");
    String password = request.getParameter("pwd");
    String role = obj.getRole(name,password);
    %>
    Then I have included both ProxyWeb and ProxyEJB in ProxyEAR file, created Enterprise Archive and Deployed in J2EE engine.
    and when I call the jsp...i am not getting expected result.
    When i am debugging the code using try catch blocks for the controller.java...I observed that
    Problem occured at :
    <code>
    queryOutHome = (UsersSyncMI_PortTypeHome) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ref, UsersSyncMI_PortTypeHome.class);
    queryOutRemote = queryOutHome.create();
    </code>
    what i am not able to uderstand is that ...when it is working fine when calling from standalone ...then
    why it's giving me problems when deployed in j2ee engine...
    note: I am using all required jars for XI.(included in ProxyEJB).And I have used NetWeaver Developer Studio for the above EAR,WAR projects.
    Kindly suggest,

    The JNDI call is different when you call an EJB from inside the J2EE.
    ctx = new InitialContext();
    ref = ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/<JNDI-Name>");

  • Environment.Exit hangs when called from an application domain exception handler

    I've implemented a handler for exceptions not thrown in the main GUI thread of my C# WinForms application, as follows:
        AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException  += OnUnhandledExceptionThrown;
    This handler is called from a background thread. The last statement in this handler is a call to
    Environment.Exit with the application exit code. However, the application hangs in this call. From within Visual Studio, it hangs and I'm unable to break the application; I have to use Task Manager to terminate Visual Studio. Environment.Exit
    works fine when called from the unhandled exception handler for the GUI thread. Is there a better way to terminate the application in the context of an unhandled exception thrown by a background thread?

    Are you just trying to avoid a crash? Environment.Exit can cause deadlocking if exiting in the wrong kind of scenario; if you're just trying to avoid a crash, use
    GetCurrentProcess with
    TerminateProcess to terminate your own process.  It skips the notification phases that Environment.Exit uses which prevents the common deadlock scenarios.
