Localhost and external IP for web services?

I've developed a web service using NetBean5.5 (JAX-WS 2.0) and deployed it to Tomcat 5.5. To access the WSDL and XSD I use the following URLs respectively (where SERVER and PORT is the server name and port on our local network):
http://SERVER:PORT/SampleWS/SampleService?wsdl
http://SERVER:PORT/SampleWS/SampleService?xsd=1
However, for external customers to access this they use an IP mapped to SERVER:PORT by our sys admin.
They can successfully access the WSDL using this external IP in the above URL but the schemaLocation port binding elements still refer to the local machine name and port. This means they cannot execute calls on the web service.
How do I get round this? Is this a Tomcat config setting? Or can something be done on the JAX-WS side such as dynamically generate the URLs within the WSDL?
Any help would be much appreciated.

This is the exact problem I've been trying to find a solution to.
By default I create a web service a a standard class in my war project using the @WebService annotation.
When it gets deployed and I look at the WSDL it has a schemaLocation listed that cannot be reached by clients (a hostname that is only valid on that box). In one case its localhost.localdomain and in another case it is just some name that cannot be found via dns (it probably has an entry in the host file). I'm not really in a position for changes to be made to those boxes, but I need to deploy web services to them and be able to create clients that can talk to them.
In either case I get an error (with localhost.localdomain) I often get a connection refused as it is pointing to the client's machine which doesn't have the web services running. In the case of the server name it is a host not found.
I tried this with JAX-WS 2.1 and it seems to work fine, but I think I'm going to be stuck with 2.0 and sjsas 9.0 u1 p1.
How can I fix this in the war application? Can I do this via annotations? Is there info about a deployment descriptor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I made sure the business service in the integration directory is named SOAPRequest and is using SOAP as the communication channel. As the adapter engine I chose the integration server, since it is the only option, although the SOAP adapter framework is installed (according to the SLD) and deactivated any options like header and attachment.
Upon facing the above response I also tried any kind of derivative with inserting the described tag/attribute/element versionMajor, but to no avail.
My questions are:
What do I have to do additionally to get the whole thing running, i.e. configure my external systems in the SLD, providing proxy settings?
Do I have to create web services within the Web AS (which provide some kind of facade to the XI engine using the proxy generation) and connect to these instead of directly addressing the integration engine (I'm using the URL http://<host>:<port>/sap/xi/engine?type=entry, but I also tried http://<host>:<port>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=:SOAPRequest:SOAPIn, this led to a 404 not found error)?
What settings do I have to provide to see the messages the client is sending, when looking into the runtime workbench it seems as if there are no messages at all - at least from my client?
Hopefully somebody might help me out or least provide some information to get me going.

all information I gathered so far derives from the online help for XI 3.0, to be found under http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/14/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm. There You'll find - in the last quarter of the navigation bar on the left side - sections describing the adapter engine alonside the SOAP adapter.
Additionally I went through almost all postings in this forum.
This alonside the mandatory trial-and-error approach (I did a lot of it up to date) led me to my current status, i.e. so far I haven't found any kind of (simple) tutorial or demo saying "If You want to establish a web service based connection via SOAP between external applications and XI first do this, then that ...", sadly enough :-(.

I'm new to web services - trying to import a WSDL that was created by an outside vendor and placed on a company server. I imported a previous version successfully. The error I'm getting doesn't make a lot of sense to me, here it is:
The following errors/warnings occurred when generating the local proxy dll and VI wrappers for this web service.
Can't generate files.
Possible reasons are:
1. The output file(s) might be read-only.
Remove the read-only attribute and import the Web service again.
2. A proxy DLL that LabVIEW created under the same file path exists in memory.
Restart LabVIEW and import the Web service again.
I don't see any read-only attributes on the output files and I've tried restarting LabVIEW - no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I was able to successfully import and run the web services from the WSDL file in question in LV2009 on a different computer than the one on which I had the original problem. Unfortunately I am still having the original problem on the project computer and will need to get it working there . . . still looking for a solution to that. Apparently LV2009 is perfectly capable of importing and running this WSDL file, but there is something still in the way on the project PC.

SOA Suite 11g calling external third party web service

Hi All,
Our SOA 11g application needs to communicate with an external third party web service (outside SOA composite and our 11g environment). Basically our SOA application will make a request based on date and the external web service will return a collection of data for that date.
Please suggest how do I achieve this. What inputs will I need from the external third party. I am using SOA 11.1.1.4

You will need the WSDL of the third party web service to be able to consume it. Based on the wsdl you can generate the request structure then invoke the service.
Also do check with them if there is security associated with the webservice like HTTPS, any soap header that need to be passed, etc ....
Based on this you will need additional configuration on your side.

WLS 9.1 - How to declare datasource for web service?

If the code for a web service is generated (either a web application or ejb endpoint), how do I make sure the datasource mapping gets added to the appropriate descriptor file?
I would like to avoid having to do this manually after running the web service compiler. Can anyone help me with this?

Which version of Eclipse are you using? Do you have Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse installed? Which version?
According to the docs, OEPE 11.1.1.6 (the latest of this post) supports WLS back to version 9.2.

Make sure that you have a WLS 9.2 Server Runtime defined.
Window->Prefereces->Server->Runtime Environments
Add a BEA System, Inc WLS 9.2 server runtime and make sure it is pointing to the right place on your file system and try creating your Web Service project again.
If you still have issues, try the OEPE forum.

The admins applied a patch to my version of the OracleAS 10g Version 9.0.4. and now I able to register a provider with the same URL but different Provider Name. I added My Yahoo Web Clipping from the Portlet Staging Area. That works fine but when I click on the check mail link in the Web Clipping Studio it gives me the following error. I have tried several times and I get the same error....

This isn't a straight FORM Post as in the http binding support in WSDL. It posts
a soap message.
It's apparent that Workshop supports form-post and form-get.
But I dont see how it is done with straight WebLogic webservices. Does WebLogic
server read the web-services.xml or the WSDL file? I dont see a way to put in
http-post binding in the former and in the latter it seems to be ignored.
Can someone clarify.

This might be a naive question, but according to the documentation, WL 7.0 does
not support http post/get bindings for web services. Thus, for me to access a
web service, I need to write a "middle tier" of some sort (I used the automatically
generated Java proxy code and JSP). All works fine, but it seems like it would
sure be nice to have HTML forms access web services without having to write a
middle tier.
.NET does this and it is extremely useful - is there a reason that BEA chose not
to provide this feature? (e.g. is it architecturally unsound in any way? or is
there an easy way to simulate it?). Given some of the Web Workshop positioning
re: ease of use and .NET comparison, this seems like an omission.

I am designing PI Collaboration Platform and that all about Monitoring across SAP ECC, SAP PI and Non-SAP applications.
BUSINESS CASE: Some clients are looking for a solution that allows there management some visibility into the end-to-end aspect of processes, we will limit our discussion to SAP ECC and PI.
SOLUTION: BAM ultimately helps solve this problem at an enterprise level - however that is a heavy investment for most organizations - is there an alternative that we can provide ? Example a generic web service that can be invoked from a 3rd party tool to provide reports.
We do have solution :
We can configure Proxy adapter and can write Java web service to invoke a method to extract the data from ECC and one or more report generating methods based on the standard ( like PDF,EXCEL etc)
but we are still looking for an existing BAPI that can be wrapped and exposed as a web service ????

Parameters and database login with Web Services SDK

I need to know how to do the two most common report tasks through the Web Services interface to Crystal Reports Server 2008:
How do I get a list of a report's parameters and set the parameter's values?
How do I set the database login information?
I have considerable experience with writing custom web interfaces for Business Objects Enterprise with .NET, but now we're supposed to use web services instead of Enterprise services, especially when writing Windows forms apps. The official line is that writing thick client apps using Enterprise services is "possible but not supported." I can't seem to find the equivalent to the .Parameters property in Web Services.
The tutorials for Web Services aren't much help. The BIPlatform examples show how to schedule a report without parameters and without setting the database login, but this isn't much help in the real world. The ReportEngine tutorial was apparently written by someone else, and is little or no help.
This seems like such a simple question, but I have wasted an entire day and am no closer to the answer.

I am getting error during the generation of ABAP proxy object for web service developed in .NET .
Error : Proxy generation terminated: WSDL error (<extension> not supported).
How to make this WSDL file compatible for ABAP proxy.
I have tried to edit WSDL file in XML Spy but did not get any option to replace/remove the tag <extention>.
If any one worked on this. Please help me its urgent.

Java Stack for Web Service in R/3

Hello Friends,
I am developing a Web Service in R/3 server. Developed a RFC and converted it to Web Sevice.
My question is, is it necessarily required to have Java Stack in my server or will it be enough to have ABAP Stack. My server doesn't have java stack installed. shall i be able to run my Web service with ABAP stack?
Please help me and give me some suggesions.

Hi Kumar,
the above answer is simply incorrect.
You can certainly provide a web service from the ABAP stack without any need for a Java stack.
There are several blogs, and lots of forum posts, that discuss how to do this.
If you have indeed "Developed a RFC and converted it to Web Service" then you are away.
Use transaction SOAMANAGER ( or WSADMIN, WSCONFIG on earlier releases) to publish your webservice and away you go.

Why does it need to be the best one? What would that even mean? Just buy something reputable, like an O'Reilly book, it's not going to be so horrifically poor that you can't learn from it

the XML schema) in WebLogic Server 8 sp1. When I generated the Web Service and
use the WebLogic Server generate test web page to test it, I got Exception. The
WebLogic Server can't constructe the input XML.
The correct XML should look like this:

<desc>Description</desc>
<id>1</id>
<id>2</id>
<id>3</id>
</ids>
Is there any one can tell me whether this kind of XML was permitted for Web Service
invoking or not?

On the test page, before the invoke of the operation, did it say
something like:

if so, the service itself may be working OK, the deficiency is that the
test page tries its best to determine sample values for the invoke,
however it does not know in this case.
Did you try with a client?
Your XML should be fine.
