WLS 9.1 - How to declare datasource for web service?
If the code for a web service is generated (either a web application or ejb endpoint), how do I make sure the datasource mapping gets added to the appropriate descriptor file?
I would like to avoid having to do this manually after running the web service compiler. Can anyone help me with this?
Regards,
Joshua
James,
Which version of Eclipse are you using? Do you have Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse installed? Which version?
According to the docs, OEPE 11.1.1.6 (the latest of this post) supports WLS back to version 9.2.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15315_05/help/oracle.eclipse.tools.common.doc/html/index.html
Make sure that you have a WLS 9.2 Server Runtime defined.
Window->Prefereces->Server->Runtime Environments
Add a BEA System, Inc WLS 9.2 server runtime and make sure it is pointing to the right place on your file system and try creating your Web Service project again.
If you still have issues, try the OEPE forum.

How to generate datasource for inforsource in BW 7
Hi all:
Could you please tell me how to generate datasource for inforsource in BW7, it seems that the way
is different from other lower edition BW 3.x. Should I choose Tranformation ? and then how ?
Thank you very much!
Edited by: jingying Sony on May 9, 2009 8:41 AM1) First thing is that in BI 7.x the infosource is optional. You can directly create a transformation between datasource and data target (e.g. cube). If you still want to use a infosource then you will require 2 transformations. 1 will act as a transfer rule and other one will act as a update rule. This is a crude example showing the comparision between 3.x and 7.x.
2) Infopackage in 7.x will load the data only till PSA. From PSA to data target you will need DTP. DTP will load data from PSA to data target. So you need to ensure you create a complete flow from datasource to data target and create infopackage & DTP. -

What the mechanism of the Java Proxy for Web Services in WLS 8.1
Hi, all;
I try to find out how the java proxy of web service in weblogic server 8.1
works. Suppose I use the java Proxy of a WebSerice in a client application whatever
whithin or outside the application of the web service, does the proxy actually:
1. translate my java arguments objects in XML to create SOAP msg,
2. then send the msg across the network, and web service also response SOAP msg,
3. then proxy translate it into return value of the method call ?
If that is true , the Java Proxy seems very inefficient, right?
Can any body tell me how the proxy works ?
regards,
shannonHi Shannon,
The type of proxy I'm familiar with is at the http connection level and
associated with the networking properties in the JDK, See:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/net/properties.html
Your question may be related to JWS proxies, See:
http://edocs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/workshop/guide/howdoi/howUseTheJavaProxyForAWebService.html
You may want to ask this question in the workshop newsgroup.
Hope this helps,
Bruce

This might be a naive question, but according to the documentation,WL 7.0
does
not support http post/get bindings for web services. Thus, for meto
access a
web service, I need to write a "middle tier" of some sort (I used
the
automatically
generated Java proxy code and JSP). All works fine, but it seems
like
it
would
sure be nice to have HTML forms access web services without havingto
write a
middle tier.
NET does this and it is extremely useful - is there a reason that
BEA
chose not
to provide this feature? (e.g. is it architecturally unsound in anyway?
or is
there an easy way to simulate it?). Given some of the Web Workshoppositioning
re: ease of use and .NET comparison, this seems like an omission.
Any insights are greatly appreciated.

PS - Here's the info from the documentation
Web Services Description Language (WSDL) 1.1 Specification
WSDL is an XML-based language that describes Web services. WSDL definesWeb services
as a set of endpoints operating on messages; these message containeither
message-style
or RPC-style information. The operations and messages are describedabstractly
in WSDL, and then bound to a concrete network protocol and messageformat

an endpoint. Related concrete endpoints are combined into abstractendpoints (services).
WSDL is extensible to allow the description of endpoints and theirassociated

WSDL in conjunction with SOAP 1.1, HTTP GET/POST, and MIME.
Note: WebLogic Server supports only SOAP 1.1 bindings.
The WSDL 1.1 Specification is available at http://www.w3.org/TR/wsdl.This isn't a straight FORM Post as in the http binding support in WSDL. It posts
a soap message.
It's apparent that Workshop supports form-post and form-get.
But I dont see how it is done with straight WebLogic webservices. Does WebLogic
server read the web-services.xml or the WSDL file? I dont see a way to put in
http-post binding in the former and in the latter it seems to be ignored.
Can someone clarify.
Thanks.

How to Create and Deploy Web Services Using Oracle 9i JDeveloper
Hi,
My Question is how to create and deploy Web Services using Oracle 9i JDeveloper.Anybody please give me a detailed Reply. Please Reply to [email protected]
Hopr to Hear From you,
Regards,
G SreekumarYou could use datasources. You should do this in your BC4J Configuration. Then when deploying your applicaiton use the command -installDataSource (from admin.jar) to create the right datasource.
You could probably use the name of your connection + "DS" so you can also use it locally in JDeveloper as JDev seesm to create this automaticly for your Connections. -
How to generate JAX-RPC web services instead of JAX-WS webservices withOEPE
How to generate JAX-RPC web services instead of JAX-WS webservices withOEPE? I am asking this because I need to pass xmlbeans generated objects as arguments in the web method. For JAX-WS there has to be a no argument constructor for it to be able to pass in theweb method. The workshop 10.3 was able to pass the xmlbeans generated object as the web service was implemented as a JAX-RPC web service....
Ok just as I expected. So I guess I am left with the following two options
1) either I switched to using JAXB in my apps instaed of xmlbeans....
2) or if I still wanna use the old JAX-RPC web services to deploy on the Weblogic 10gR3 server i will have to create my own ant task jwsc directly......as shown below in your docs
Programming Web Services for WebLogic Server (ant tasks)
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs92/webserv/anttasks.html
Getting Started With WebLogic Web Services Using JAX-RPC
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/webserv_rpc/index.html
Will OEPE be supporting the old JAX-RPC anytime in the near future release? or have to create own build ant task to call jwsc ant task directly to compile JAX-RPC web services?? -
How do I invoke a web service?
I'm new to web services... and I have to find a way to connect to the microsoft reporting services web service....
But well I don't know how to connect to a web services...
Can someone direct me to a java tutorial about invoking web services?
Please? =)
Thanks,
Renato FontesEnter the string without the quote, then try to switch to the XML view and add the quotes. This should be a workaround for simple values.
You should also be able to generate a java client from JDeveloper in a few clicks, using the Wizard. As you can generate the JUnit template for the proxy (or stub), it's usually faster to re-run your test.
If this does not work for you, can you post the WSDL so we can see if there is any reason it does not work for you.

How to use WS-RM web Service from Session Bean?
Hi all.
Could you tell me the way how to call WS-RM web service(Staring BPM Process) from SessionBean?
Our environment: SAP NetWeaver CE 7.2 SP3
I do the following.
I have created a BPM Process starting with Message Start Event.
This Message Start Event was created by Service Interface(stateless and asynchronous) which was imported from ESR.
I deployed this into my server and it worked fine in webservice navigator as a WS-RM WebService.
But I can't call this webservice from SessionBean in EJBExplorer.
I get the following error message:
Caused by: This exception is wrapper of javax.xml.ws.soap.SOAPFaultException. com.sap.engine.services.webservices.espba

I created DCs for EJB and created SessionBean in EJB DC.
I imported a WSDL file(WS-RM web service) from Service Registory and
I created service clients and Service References.
After that I implemented SessionBean to call web service checking with this help.

Did you manage to solve this? I'm doing something similar and seeing the same problem, although they're up to 7.3 SP7.

generated Java proxy code and JSP). All works fine, but it seems like it would
sure be nice to have HTML forms access web services without having to write a
middle tier.
.NET does this and it is extremely useful - is there a reason that BEA chose not
to provide this feature? (e.g. is it architecturally unsound in any way? or is
there an easy way to simulate it?). Given some of the Web Workshop positioning
re: ease of use and .NET comparison, this seems like an omission.
Any insights are greatly appreciated.

PS - Here's the info from the documentation
Web Services Description Language (WSDL) 1.1 Specification
WSDL is an XML-based language that describes Web services. WSDL defines Web services
as a set of endpoints operating on messages; these message contain either message-style
or RPC-style information. The operations and messages are described abstractly
in WSDL, and then bound to a concrete network protocol and message format to define
an endpoint. Related concrete endpoints are combined into abstract endpoints (services).
WSDL is extensible to allow the description of endpoints and their associated
messages regardless of what message formats or network protocols are used to communicate,
however, the only bindings described in the specification describe how to use
WSDL in conjunction with SOAP 1.1, HTTP GET/POST, and MIME.
Note: WebLogic Server supports only SOAP 1.1 bindings.
The WSDL 1.1 Specification is available at http://www.w3.org/TR/wsdl.Manoj: Thanks for the answer - do you have or can you point me at any code samples
that accomplish this? (Yes, .NET is limited to strings/ints in their get/post
bindings).
Thanks so much!

PS - Also, can you explain any apparent discrepancy between your answer and what
the WL documentation stated (again, it may be my misunderstanding).

How to use array in web services?
I have a function which returns an array of byte? How do I convert it into a web service function?
Hi, Eric,
Thank you for your quick reply.
The web service I am trying to develop is basically a generic Data Access Component to bridge between SQL server and a desktop .Net application. The application will have about 3000 users from WAN, therefore we want to have a server side component to handle connection pooling etc. Because of limitation of current servers, we are asked to develop a Java Web Service, instead of MS WS.
To make the component more reusable, I am thinking to have methods like this in the service:
RunQueryReturnRS(String Sql, WebRowSet, rs)
RunQueryReturnInt(String Sql, int NumRecdImpacted)
RunStoredProcedureReturnRS(â¦.)
RunStoredProcedureReturnInt(â¦.)
â¦â¦
You see, I would like to get whole resultset back to client, including both metadata and data in a format of generic resultset. When I paged through the Sunâs document, finding WebRowSet is claimed to be seariable, and ready for Web Service. I thought if I can use WebRowSet that will save me time to write new classes to hold resultset info and pass back to client.
Could you please tell me if it is a feasible approach?
Thank you.

How do you add a program to a "Space" in Lion?
I can see how to add a space in Mission Control, but how do you assign a program to a Space within Lion? It carried over my settings from Snow Leopard so there must be a way to change it or add to it. Can anyone find the hidden Space's feature?
