Localization of Crystal Report Viewer toolbar tips

Hi Crystal .net gurus!
I have the Crystal 2008 merge modules but I wonder how does one get the localized versions of the tooltips to display?  Does the viewer pick up on the system locale settings or is there some special merge module add-on required?  I couldn't find anything specific to this on the SAP site.
Thanks guys!
Evan

Hey, Evan;
How's things?
If you download the latest merge modules for SP 2, (https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009159092009E/cr2008sp2_mm.zip) you will notice when you unzip them there are several additional msm files, such as CRRuntime_12_2.es.msm. These are the language merge modules that you would distribute if you need additional language resource files. The runtime will look at the system locale settings, and if it has the correct language resource files, will display the appropriate language.
cheers,
Jonathan

  • Crystal Reports Viewer Toolbar Images missing

    I have Crystal Reports XI R2 installed on a windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise server and when a when I browse to my asp.net page withe the crystal reports viewer I get the red x's for the toolbar images.  The viewer and web.config entries all reference the 11.5.3700.0.  When I view the source of the page the source is "../aspnet_client/system_web/2_0_50727/crystalreportviewers115".  At first the crystalreportviewers115 was not in subfolder at my sites root aspnet_client folder and so I copied it there.  But it still doesn't work.
    What seems odd is that we I was using the embedded version from VS 2008 (10.5.3700.0) the view source of the page showed the image path as "/aspnet_client/system_web/2_0_50727/CrystalReportWebFormViewer4" and this worked fine but when I use XI R2 (11.5.3700.0) the path is "../aspnet_client/system_web/2_0_50727/crystalreportviewers115" so where and why is there ".." for the XI R2 version.

    CR 11.5 is not supported on WIn 2008 server. See [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567] wiki.
    You may also want to take a look at the article [Viewer toolbar images appear as red u2018X on Crystal Reports VS .NET web viewer|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50aa68c0-82dd-2b10-42bf-e5502b45cd3a]. It may help, but if not, you'll have to move on to a supported version of CR.

  • Crystal Report Viewer Print does not work for IE7

    Post Author: ssdudeveloper
    CA Forum: .NET
    When I view a report in IE7, and click the Print button in the Crystal Reports Viewer toolbar, an empty dialog window opens and no print dialog appears. The print functionality works correctly when viewing the same report using an IE6 browser.
    I have tried changing the browser security settings (as per http://technicalsupport.businessobjects.com/cs/forums/thread/3171.aspx) - with Automatic prompting for file downloads set to Enable, but this does not resolve my problem.
    Is this a known compatability issue with IE7? Are there any workarounds/solutions to this?

    Hello,
    Please search before posting.

  • BO XI R2 - "Blank "Crystal Reports Viewer" window - attempt to print report

    My company recently set up a Business Object Enterprise XI Release 2 server.  On the server are a number of crystal reports that are run interactively by users, through the user console.  The expectation is that the user will log on to the BI server, click on the report title, enter the parameters, see a preview of the report in the Crystal Report Viewer, then click the print icon on the Crystal Report Viewer toolbar.
    Our corporate standard is current Windows XP SP3, with Internet Explorer 8;  By default, users are set up to use the DHTML report viewer.  The reports were developed with the Crystal Reports XI R2 report designer, and connect to an Oracle 10g database through Oracle client.
    When users attempt to view, then print the reports, the user is able to select the report, enter the parameters, view the report data, and even page through the report preview with no issues.  However, when the user attempts to print the report by clicking the print icon on the Crystal Reports Viewer toolbar, a blank "Crystal Reports Viewer" window pops up and remains indefinitely.
    The really puzzling thing about this issue is that for about 1/3 of our users, printing will work - a print dialog will appear, allowing the user to select a printer, and when the user clicks OK, the report will print.   For the other 2/3 of our users, the blank "Crystal Reports Viewer" window pops up.
    I have added the BO XI R2 server's address to trusted sites, adopted the lowest security settings for trusted sites, and enabled all activity I could think of in IE security settings (ActiveX controls-related).  I also ran the web site in compatibilitiy mode.
    Has anyone on this forum experienced this issue, and does anyone here know how to resolve it?
    Thank you,
    Bob Gardner

    I suspect that this behavior occurs because the client computer is unable to download ActiveX controls.
    The report viewer requires the PrintControl.dll to print reports from the client computer. The PrintControl.dll downloads automatically if it has not been previously downloaded on to the client computer, provided that the user that is currently logged on is able to download ActiveX controls.
    To enable the download of ActiveX controls on the client computer, perform the following steps:
    1) Open your Internet Explorer.
    2) From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
    3) In the Security tab, select the web content zone that corresponds to your web application.
    4) Click Custom Level.
    5) In the Security Settings dialog box, scroll down to find the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section.
    6) Select Enable or Prompt for the Download signed ActiveX controls item.
    7) The print dialog box will now appear successfully when clicking the print button in the report viewer.
    If the above does not help, try to troubleshoot this as follows:
    1) click the print button (this will cause a postback to the web page) and then cancel the print dialog. right-click in the web page and select "View Source".
    2) Search for the word "printcontrol.cab". This will show you where the application is trying to download the printcontrol from.
    Paste the URL into a browser.
    3) If you get prompted to "open or save to disk" the url is correct and there is a browser setting or possibly even a system policy preventing the download.
    4) If you get a "404 page not found" or a similar error message, investigate the URL.
    5) If the issue is on your local web server, see if it is possible to browse to the URL in IIS manager.

  • The "next" button of crystal report viewer does not work

    hi
    I use crystal report viewer control to show my crystal report on my aspx page.
    like:
    <CR:CrystalReportViewer id="CRViewer" runat="server" HasRefreshButton="False" PrintMode="ActiveX" DisplayGroupTree="False"
    AutoDataBind="True"
    SeparatePages="TRUE"
    Height="520px"
    Width="900px">
    </CR:CrystalReportViewer>
    however when I try to navigate to next page by click "Next" arrow button on the crystal report viewer toolbar, it only can navigate to the page 2, whatever I click the "Next" button, it still stay on page 2,
    actually this report has 10 pages.
    On the other hand, if I input the page number, such as 5 on the "goto" textbox, it will jump to page 5 correctly.
    Could you give me any good advices to solve this problem?
    Thanks.

    There are a few threads discussing the issue in this forum. See if these provide some guidance:

  • Problem in crystal report viewer control's toolbar "export"button using SSL

    Hi,
    I would like to ask. My project is using BO XI Release 2 and VS-Studio 2005. Initially my project doesn't use SSL... At that time when i view the report with crystal report viewer control and can export (using built-in toolbar "export button"). Now project is using SSL and canu2019t export the error is
    u201CInternet Explorer cannot download file from server.
    Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.u201D
    Actually this error can solve "Cache-control" change to "no-cache". But I donu2019t know in crystal reportu2026
    Anyone can help ???
    Thanks

    In Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced and ensure "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" is unchecked.
    Default is to have that option checked.
    It was considered a IE security issue that IE saves all content to temp disk location unencrypted, even those pages served by HTTPS (for example, let's say you use HTTPS to download your bank info, and it's stored to temp disk for someone else to retrieve later).  So more recent versions of IE implemented that option setting.
    How that option setting works is strange - it downloads the file, saves to disk, then deletes the copy from the disk immediately, before passing it to the application responsible for the MIME type.  So the application tries to open a directory path to a non-existing file.
    Issue is specific to IE, and it's not something you can control via the SDK.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 Missing icons on toolbar when displayed

    I am using Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 on Windows 2003 Server and trying to deploy to a different server.
    I have deployed a new web site from a development server to production.  The crystal reports render correctly, but the only problem is that the icons for the viewer show "X".  I have tried the following:
    Copy the aspnet_client folder (c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client) and all of itu2019s subfolders to the physical root directory of the custom web site.
    If the above does not help, ensure that this is in the web.config of the application:
    <httpHandlers>
    <add verb="GET" path="CrystalImageHandler.aspx" type="CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalImageHandler, CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    </httpHandlers>
    Still see "X" in the view tool bar.

    Your IIS logs show that the web server can't find the toolbar gif files. The first thing I'd do here is browse to this location using your IIS Manager. Find the next.gif file and right click it and select Browse. This will take your application out of the picture and will tell you if you can see this gif file on its own as processed by IIS.
    If that doesn't work you likely have a permissions issue. Look at the security on the toolbar directory and see if the ASPNET or Network Service account have rights to read that directory. Also make sure the group IIS_WPG has access here too. You might even want to run the IIS Managers permissions wizard to clean up file permissions here.
    Another thing you could try is creating a Virtual Directory that points to the original aspnet_client directory under C:\inetpub\wwwroot.
    Hopefully that helps. Good luck!

  • Crystal Report Viewer integration with Sharepoint 2010

    We had a requirement in our project to view crystal report off an hyper link embedded into sharepoint web part developed using ASP .NET. The report accepted few parameters from the sharepoint page and passed those on to the SQL server to retrive data and
    display the data in the report. The challenge was to open the report in the web browser.
    The first difficulty was to find the right control to use, the report viewer tool that comes with Visual Studio 2010 is not the right one to use to view Crystal reports, I realised this after spending half a day trying to figure out why wouldn't the report
    load. I then downloaded the Crystal Report Viewer for VS 2010 Standard from http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/us2_default.asp. After you install this, you get the crystal report viewer in your toolbar. All you have to do is drag and drop it on
    to the web part and configure it to use your report. If any one needs help with this let me know I will show how to do that.
    So far so good. The biggest challenge was to deploy this on to the production server which took better part of 3 days to figure out how its done. If you deploy the WSP file as it is expecting that the crystal DLLs would be embedded in it then be ready to
    expect a rude shock because it isn't. Here are the steps -
    1. Deploy the WSP to the sharepoint server
    2. Install the crystal dlls used in the project (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.dll, CrystalDecisions.Shared.dll, CrystalDecisions.Web.dll) into the GAC using GacUtil command
    3. Add following entries to Web.Config file (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80\web.congif)

    Hi Mahesh,
    How are you loading the report in your webpart? This is what I have done. I have tried to explain what I am doing in the program comments. Hope this helps. Good luck.
                    SPSite mySite = new SPSite(SPContext.Current.Site.Url.ToString());
                    SPWeb thisSite = mySite.OpenWeb();
                    // Writing to event log after every step in debug mode so that you get to know if there was a failure what step the failure occured after.
                    EventLog.WriteEntry("Reports", "Inside PAge Load ", EventLogEntryType.Error);
                    SPFolder folder = thisSite.GetFolder("Reports");
                    if (folder.Exists)
                        // get collection of Crystal Reports rpt files in the document library
                        SPFileCollection files = folder.Files;
                        // open the rpt file and get the contents
                        SPFile srcfile = files[reportToLaunch];
                        byte[] content = srcfile.OpenBinary();
                        // make a temporary folder
                        DirectoryInfo dir2 = new DirectoryInfo("~/temp");
                        if (!dir2.Exists)
                            dir2.Create();
                        if (File.Exists("~/temp/temp.rpt"))
                            File.Delete("~/temp/temp.rpt");
                        // write the report definition to a temporary file
                        // EventLog.WriteEntry("Reports", "Before Creating temp report ", EventLogEntryType.Error);
                        //EventLog.WriteEntry("Reports", "Before Create ", EventLogEntryType.Error);
                        BinaryWriter bw =
                          new BinaryWriter(File.Open("~/temp/temp.rpt", FileMode.Create));
                        bw.Write(content);
                        bw.Close();
                      //  EventLog.WriteEntry("Reports", "After Create ", EventLogEntryType.Error);
                        // set up the crystal report
                        ReportDocument reportDoc = new ReportDocument();
                        reportDoc.Load("~/temp/temp.rpt");
                        EventLog.WriteEntry("Reports", "after report load ", EventLogEntryType.Error);
                        ConnectionInfo connection = new ConnectionInfo();
                        connection.ServerName = "SQLServerName";
                        connection.DatabaseName = "SQLDatabase";
                        connection.UserID = "sqluser";
                        connection.Password = "sqlpassword";
                        TableLogOnInfo logon = new TableLogOnInfo();
                        logon.ConnectionInfo = connection;
                        reportDoc.SetParameterValue("@Parameter1", parameter1);
                        reportDoc.SetParameterValue("@Parameter2", parameter2);
                        EventLog.WriteEntry("Reports", "after assigning parameters ", EventLogEntryType.Error);
                       foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table t in reportDoc.Database.Tables)

  • Crystal Report Viewer not displaying properly in on loading

    I am using Visual Studio 2012 in Windows 10 with IIS 8.5. I configured Crystal reports properly but when I load the webpage the Crystal report viewer doesn't load properly and the toolbar and other options are not showing. Please help. Following is the problem am talking about:

    Hi Zaeem,
    Windows 10 is not currently supported. We plan to add it to the supported platform in SP 14 which is planned for sometime end May.
    I tried it and make sure you are loading the Viewer and Report in the Page_Init section. Also the CrystalReportsViewer folder must be included in the project.
    Try searching and you'll find info on this subject.

  • Print Button Not Working if i not inital the Crystal Report Viewer

    hiii every body here
    i have problem on my web application with framework (4.0)
    i use crystal report viewer (crystal report 13) and i installed the engine of crystal report and use dataset as datasource to my report and my report work fine but ....
    my problem is :
    i cannot export or print my crystal report 13 if i put my code on sub like that :
    protected void btn_print_Click ( object sender , EventArgs e )
                SP_testTableAdapter adpter = new SP_testTableAdapter();
                adpter.Fill(ds.SP_test);
                Reports.Learning.CrystalReports.CR_testreport my_report = new Reports.Learning.CrystalReports.CR_testreport();
                my_report.SetDataSource(ds);
                CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = my_report;
                CrystalReportViewer1.DataBind();
    when i use this i cannot print or export it say to me login to database fail message although i use dataset not direct database connection that mean it not need to give the report source every use of it the connection of my server details like username , password
    but if i put this code to my page load the report run and showing and print correctly , i need to can use print,export and every button on reportviewer toolbar
    without put the code that display report on page_load i need to put code on button event only and when i click the button it show the report and can print and export , and not need to use sesssion
    need help plz ................

    An assumption here is that this is a web app. That being the case, you need to worry about post backs when you print or export. E.g.; almost any action the viewer will cause a post back and thus what ever data you sent to the report is now forgotten. Place the report in session and this will eliminate the issue. Search for KBA 1985571. I document the full code needed there.

  • Display only graph in the Crystal report viewer

    Background:
    We used Crystal Reports ver10 to display various graphs in our ASP.Net 2.0 Web Application (Visual Studio 2005)
    We recently migrated our application to .NET 4.5 and Crystal Reports ver13 (Visual Studio 2012)
    Issue:
    Now, the Crystal Report Viewer control loads the graph inside an <IFRAME> which shows the whole page with the graph placed on the right bottom corner instead of just the graph image as it used to previously.
    I have checked various properties that hides the tree and the toolbar and I am unable to get rid of the whole page.
    Query:
    Is there a way to not display the page and display only the image that contains the graph? OR
    Is there a way to not render the whole <iframe> and just display the graph image inside a <div> as it used to happen before?

    Hi Ludek, thanks for your response. Please refer the screenshots below.
    1) CR ver10 - the graph <img> is simply enclosed inside a div
    2) CR ver13 - the graph <img> is enclosed inside an <iframe>'s body - you can also see the scroll bars and "white-page-background" and "grey space" which I am hoping to hide or disable
    3) We are using the same set of CRViewer properties in both cases:
    - DisplayGroupTree = False
    - DisplayToolbar = False
    - HasDrillUpButton = Flase
    - HasRefreshButton = False
    - HasToggleGroupTreeButton = Fasle
    - HasViewList = False
    - HasZoomFactorList = False
    - EnableViewState = True
    4) Here's a screenshot of of the .rpt file opened in the VS 2012:
    We only want to render the graph image on the UI and not the whole page. Is there a property setting that will help us achive this or should we define explicit CSS styles to hide those areas?
    Thank you for looking into this!

  • How to add custom buttons in the tool bar of the crystal reports viewer

    Hi,
    I'm using Crystal report viewer (Crystal 2008) in my report and I want to add custom buttons and handle them in the tool bar of the viewer. Is there anyway to achieve this?
    Please help me in this regard.
    Thanks in advance.
    Siva.

    I did this by adding a picturebox to the toolbar, the same size as the buttons, and loading in an image, and putting code into the Click event of the picturebox.
    I also put code into the MouseHover event to change the picture's background color and into the MouseLeave event to change it back.
    I have a couple of these buttons. They work very nicely and really look like part of the toolbar.
