Localize af_train.ACTIVE_TIP element?

Hi! I tried to localize af_train.ACTIVE_TIP element (Current step):
af_train.ACTIVE_TIP = Current stepBut this doesn't work. Any ideas?
I remember there was GREAT table with all elements that can be lozalizes, but I can't find it. It was in Oracle page, as I remember! Maybe someone knows?

If using TIP_STOP together with ACTIVE_STEP doesn't work - then you have the perfect test case for an SR, because the documentation says that's the way it works.
af_train.TIP_STOP

I am skinning my application, and I want to localize strings that appear in ADF faces components. For example on OK button component in dialog I want to put something else instead of "OK". I know how I should do that but I don't have resource bundle keys that correspond to such strings. Can anyone tell me where I can find them?

Error in Fast Formula for Supplemental Earnings Elements

Hi,
I have an requirement in Supplement Earning Elements for US Localization. I need to define some Supplement Earning Elements that should comes in Payroll with the extension of existing Elements.
Here are the Steps for setups which i have done so far-
Step 1:Created new Elements with their values with effective dates for existing user Table name
Step 2:Done the setup for New Elements with classification as Supplemental and Category also attached the formula like "FLAT AMOUNT" formula for Calculation rule in Element Earning screen.
Step 3: when i tried to query for the element i have created, the value in Calculation Field is "Elementname_FLAT_AMOUNT_RWSI" which is not same for the existing elements.Existing Element which is of same classification and same category the Calculation rule field is "ElementName_FLAT_AMOUNT".
Step 4: After that i did setup for Element Description and Element Link.
Step 5: Then i have copied the Formula from Existing element(which is previously configured and working fine for the existing elements ), made the modifications for the newly created element. When Compiling the formula ,i am getting an Error "Incorrect Data type"
I have two queries -
1- The setup in Earnings Screen with Calculation Rule is correct or not. As the Calculation Field for newly elements and the existing elements are different (as mentioned in Step 3).
2- Compilation Error "Incorrect Data Types" in Fast Formula.(as mentioned in Step 5).

Hi Pradeep,
Hope you created the new element using the 'Earnings Template' form. If it is created using the 'Earnings Template' form then the calculation rule
should be correct. You said you are modifying the new element formula by using the existing element formula code, have you checked if the
formula code to the old and new once have changed anything other than the element name and standard input elements reference. Try to use
the debug messages in formula and see if that give you any clue. You should find the document in metalink how to debug a formula.

Importing element definition from an EDD into a template - does not work

FM 10.0.1 German on Windows XP SP3.
When importing the element definitions from an existing EDD into an existing template, FrameMaker converts the template into a new EDD.
So the element definitions which are correctly defined do not appear in the template.
The highest level element is than ElementCatalog in the template and not the higherst lvel element defined in the EDD.
In FM9 this was no issue.
Any help is appreciated, I have a deadline and must do some changes in the EDD.

EDD is english (Version FM7.0), Interface language is German.
Maybe it´s a localization issue.

No question the behavior you describe is a bug. However, I am unable to
duplicate it. I created an EDD with two element definitions:
Element (Container): doc
Valid as the highest-level element.
General rule: (
When I imported element definitions from this EDD into a new portrait
document, FM reports that element a is referenced but not defined and that
b is defined but not referenced. However, with all elements listed, the
element catalog shows a, b, and doc. The metatemplate elements are not
available.
I wonder if this is a language-dependent problem. Is your EDD German or
English? What about your user interface?
Can you send me a short EDD that fails as you've described?

SOE on Global Localization

Hi All,
I have finalized the SOE report setup on the global localization (for Oman legislation), but I face the following error message:

Thanks zam_ora and thanks for all colleagues in this forum, Actually I've solved the above-mentioned problem, But I have another one, that is: SOE report shows nothing for all employees (non of the elements are shown) although the employees have been paid.
Note: I've completed all the required setup for SOE successfully.
Please advice why the SOE Report doesn't show earnings, deductions, total pay, .......... (nothing is shown).

Workflow localization, translation, multi-language WF-dialogs

Hi Workflow Gurus,
Question is about workflow localization / translation / globalization / internationalization…
Suppose, I have a complex workflow, which consists of a number of sub-workflows. This WF has been initially developed in English (including all dialogs), but now I want to offer this WF in other languages. Of course, I can begin to pass over each WF/sub-workflow element and to begin to type localized dialog via built-in translation tool of SAP where it is possible, but it may take a lot of time, especially if there are a lot steps in WF.
Is there any best practice for workflow localization, what is the best approach to supply the same workflow in English, German and French to your customers? Is there any way to get/build a dictionary of all dialog, used in all steps in WF and its subworkflows and after that to translate it to the desired language?

I also would be very interested of hearing if someone has found a way to easily translate a workflow or has a tool for it. Many times the translation can become an own sub-project (this applies also some other SAP functionality which do not offer proper translation tools).
Basically it is not that hard - you probably just want to translate the "visible parts", and this includes just the dialog tasks: maintain the work item text and description in PFTC (this is a bit annoying since you need to log in with the destination language to maintain the work item text). Many times this is enough. But then if you have user decision in the workflow, these you need to go to translate the step to WF builder SWDD.
If you want to make things perfect, you must maintain all the texts in the workflow itself too (in WF builder in the translation menu): all the step names, outcomes, etc. These texts are visible e.g. in the logs etc. so users will most probably have access to these although they are not in the daily use. Luckily the translation tool in the WF builder is quite good, because it lists nicely all the texts of the workflow, and offers a input field to maintain the translation. And if you are after perfection, you need to go back to translating the tasks - the background tasks which will be visible in the logs...
Then, if the developers haven't translated the possible applications that are called inside the workflow, it really can become a project. For example it can be a huge task to translate a big web dynpro ABAP application (some translations come from data elements, some from OTRs, then you will have the messages, etc.)

Performance issue due to localization code in SSRS 2008

The reports I am working on consist lot of data and all the customers use it frequently.
Report title and columns are localized by expressions .
This takes long time for report rendering and exporting to csv. When I test without the localization code it doesn't take that long .
Can someone help me to optimize the report. SSRS 2008 R2

In Reporting Services, the total time to generate a reporting server report (RDL) can be divided into 3 elements:
Total time = (TimeDataRetrieval) + (TimeProcessing) + (TimeRendering)
TimeRendering means the number of milliseconds spent after the Rendering Object Model is exposed to the rendering extension. It includes the Time spent in on-demand expression evaluations (e.g. TextBox.Value, Style.*). So it is make sense that the report
with localization code takes longer time.
Besides, we can improve the report performance form other aspects. For example, we can add filter, sorting and aggregation in dataset query, because filter, sort, and aggregation is more efficient on the data source than during report processing. For more

Localization in smart forms

Find what is offered by SAP for localization in smart forms

At least as far as BPC 5.1 is concerned, there is no user interface element known as "smart forms." I believe this is a term used in other SAP products, but I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to.
Many elements of the BPC 5.1 end-user UI can be localized; the language packs provide the most complete localization (everything including menus, error messages, etc., in a separate client-side s/w installation package.) Language packs are available in a handful of languages; the list is growing with each release.
And of course anything that you're doing directly in Excel is more or less up to the client-side environment. A few times, I've fudged a bit of localization just by having a hidden sheet in Excel that translates some key metadata to a few other languages - month names, "submit", that kind of thing.
One key limitation of localization in BPC (and it's really a limitation of MS Windows & IIS) is that only one codepage can be supported on the web / app server. So while you can have, for instance, member descriptions in Chinese-Simplified and English, or Japanese & English, or Thai & English, you can't have all four languages happily co-existing on a single server. The unicode DB doesn't have a problem storing the values, but the app server chokes, so the end users see a whole lot of ????????. It won't even work to have one DB and separate app servers, one for each language, since the (single) codepage apparently needs to be configured on the DB as well.
I've heard some rumors about enhanced localization support in BPC 7.0, but I don't have any details on this. I hope the NW platform helps us move forward in that direction.

Localization in the XML

Okay, I realize not many of you will know this, but I'm hoping there's a chance we've got another XML hacker out here.
In the XML, there's an attribute for localization. It's used on any page where the template provides a fixed text element for you, i.e. the "Add a Comment" text link or the "Next" and "Previous" links in your blog. It uses this attribute to flag the text as a localizable string and I'm guessing that this flag also causes iWeb to go to some PLIST file and get the appropriate string for the user's language.
Now I've noticed that this attribute seems to disappear from the XML when you generate a template from a domain file - not surprising I suppose. I can insert the tags manually (which I'm realizing I need to do and haven't to date).
My question is related then to this situation: I have a guy using one of my templates. He's getting the @post error on his blog pages where the Add a Comment should be. On all three of his computers, he's at version 1.1.2 and he's not using Arial, nor is the template, so the Apple fix listed in the knowledge base is not the solution for him.
Furthermore, any Apple template he uses DOES work. It shows the text "Add a Comment", and when I publish using my template it works just fine for me. So there is indeed something about his machine that plays into this, but there's also something about my template that also plays into it.
After doing the diffs on the XML, the only difference was the localization attribute :-O
So I'm wondering how this might play into this scenario. He's an English speaker and his pages are written in English, although I did not ask whether his system language was something other than English. Have to check on that.
Maybe Mario is reading this, or Peter, or someone who understands the broader issues with that @post error. Fingers crossed. Any insights would be much appreciated.

Okay I heard from Matt. Here's what he writes:
I am in Germany, but I'm English, and my computer system is installed in English everywhere. I guess that's International English, not British English, though. My keyboard is a German one - that's true for all the computers in the house. Spell-checker to British English. And yes, I did use Delocalizer to remove foreign language files from the MacBook and also my girlfriend's iBook, but not from the Mini Mac; and the current version of iWeb on both the MacBook and the Mini Mac are new installations, of 1.1.1, and fully multi-lingual.
He also noted that all languages are checked when using Get Info on the iWeb icon. I'm beginning to think this isn't related to the localization attribute. He tested that by the way and it didn't work.
I pinged a number of people using SoftWhite. I heard from one who did indeed duplicate the problem. Not only that, her navigation bar fonts were really rough looking.
So now I'm wondering if this isn't a font issue. It works just fine for me, but maybe I have a version of Lucida Grande that's not as new? I'm going to explore the font possibility as you know, if iWeb thinks the font is non-standard, it automatically generates a PNG image.
It has to be this. I sent Matt an updated template file that used Verdana for the Comment font so we'll see what he reports after that.

Does OATS support recording for Globalization and Localization?

We are looking to automate an EBS application that support 30 different languages and also has localization for some countries. Can we use OATS for regression automation? Does OATS support Globalization and Localization?

Límite de impresión en Photoshop Element 3 y 4

Escribo este comentario solo para compartir algo que he descubierto sobre Photoshop Element 3 y 4 y lo que no encontraba explicación. No tiene importancia pero es curioso.
He estado utilizando Photoshop Element 3 hasta hace un mes que me han regalado la versión 4.0 (aprovecho para decir a quien tenga la 3 que no merece la pena comprar la 4, porque las mejoras son mínimas) y desde el principio me sorprendió que al imprimir una fotografía, en general utilizo un tamaño de 2272x1704, en la ventana de impresión salía el siguiente aviso La imagen se imprimirá a menos de 220 ppp en el tamaño seleccionado solo desaparecía si el tamaño de impresión se reducía a 7x10 cm aproximadamente manejando los controles de tamaño desde la previsualización.
Comprobado el tamaño de la imagen resulta que sobrepasaba con creces dicha resolución, ya que siendo el tamaño de 2272x1704 para una impresión en tamaño 15x11,25 la resolución es de 384,72 ppp
Me parecía incomprensible que limitase de esta manera la resolución, con la calidad de las impresoras que existen actualmente. Además la Ayuda de la v4.0 diferencia la impresión desde el organizador, en el que si esta limitada a 220 ppp, con la que se hace desde el editor en la que no dice nada de límites.
Ayer, por casualidad, al ajustar el tamaño de una fotografía se me ocurrió ver si podría tener algo que ver las unidades utilizadas en las preferencias. Y efectivamente, resulta que yo utilizo tanto las reglas como los tamaños en centímetros, con lo cual al imprimir una fotografía de 2272x1704 en tamaño 15x11,25 centímetros, resulta una resolución de 151,56 píxeles por centímetro, pero el programa, supongo, interpreta que son píxeles por PULGADA, por lo que sale el famoso aviso que os comentaba al principio. Se soluciona simplemente cambiando en preferencias la unidad de las reglas de centímetros a pulgadas y ya no sale el aviso.

Lo que observas es perfectamente normal.
Adobe Camera Raw no intenta ni remotamente imitar los colores sobresaturados que los fabricantes de cámaras generan dentro de la cámara y/o a traves de su software externa.
Si te gustan más los colores de Canon, quédate con el software de Canon.
Si quieres obtener la calidad optima que puedes sacarle a tu imagen, olvídate de Canon y aprende a usar Adobe Camera Raw correctamente, y, ante todo documéntate en lo tocante a la gestión y administración de colores.

How to localize the bundle display name? (name under icon on device)

Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to localize the apps bundle display name for different countries?
I mean the name that's under your appicon on the device, not the name in itunes connect.
It seems to be possible with xCode by changing some plist files, but I can't find any info on doing this with AIR.

a change in selection text will change in the screen.
else u can create a text element and use
selection-screen comment text-001.
we cant modify standard programs. the above is for Z programs only.
