Locating data in my XML file using C#
Hi !
I have a XML file. Here is a snippet:
<Layers Count="9">
<Layer Name="layer0" Type="Polygon">
<OverlapNames Count="2">
<OverlapName Name="layer1"/>
<OverlapName Name="layer2"/>
</OverlapNames>
<CommonNames Count="0">
</CommonNames>
<SnapNames Count="1">
<SnapName Name="layer3"/>
</SnapNames>
</Layer>
Now, if I have a "layer" is there a quick way to find the node "Layer" that name a name "layer0".
Secondly, is there a way to not only locate the node but return true if the "type" is a certain value? In the above example layer0 is a polygon. So if I encounter a point entity on layer0 and I try to find a layer where name="layer0"
and type="point" it should return empty.
Thanks for clarification on right way to parse the XML data file to locate the information I need.
Andrew
strQuery = String.Format("Layers/Layer[@Name=\"{0}\"]", pEntPoly3D.layer());
XmlNode nodeLayer = xmlOrbis.SelectSingleNode(strQuery);
if (nodeLayer == null)
And:
Layers/Layer[@Name=\"{0}\" and @Type=\"{1}\"]",

Error loading data from an XML file using HTTPService
Hello All,
I have a runtime error that has got me beat at the moment I am building an App in Flash Builder 4 to run on AIR.
The error is as follows: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
What i'm Trying to Do:
I have 2 DropDownList controls, the first is populated with country names and the other with language options. All the 1st DropDownList control does
is set an image control to display the country flag and enable the 2nd DropDownList.
The 2nd DropDownList sets the langCode variable equal to the chosen language code. I then call the language function and pass it langCode. Using this variable, I build up the string
so that langFilePath will be equal to the XML file (which is "Lang_GBR.xml") location on my desktop and then call the HTTPService.
As soon as the language function is called, the runtime error occurs and highlights the line with btn_LS_mainMenu.label = loadLangService.lastResult.Lang.GlobalTags.btnMenu;
where I try to assign the button label with a new value from the XML file.
I suspect this may be a trivial error but I just can't see it at the moment.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks
Code:

How to edit/update data into an XML file using Flex and Actionscript
I can read an external xml file, please see the code below:
protected function button1_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
var GrowthChartsDataGrid:XML;
var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("../GrowthChartsDataGrid.xml");
loader.load(request);
loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete)
function onComplete (event:Event)
var loader:URLLoader = URLLoader(event.target);
GrowthChartsDataGrid = new XML(loader.data);
GrowthChartsDataGrid.GrowthChartGridView += <Month> {txtMonth.text} <Weight> {txtWeight.text} </Weight> </Month>
texttesting.text = GrowthChartsDataGrid.toString();
I can read an XML file and can add an extra node and can display it in a text filed. But I want to update the XML file contents which will come from the txtMonth and txtWeight text boxes.
Please any suggestions???First of all thanks for your quick reply .
I actually want to add another node inthe xml file. Files is at a local location and i can read the file and add an extra node (but I cant store this extra node in the actual XML file). But I want to save XML with the extra node.
For exmaple,
my current xml is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<GrowthChartGridView>
<Month> 1
<Weight>3.5</Weight></Month>
<Month> 2
<Weight>3.9</Weight></Month>
<Month> 3
<Weight>4.5</Weight></Month>
</GrowthChartGridView>
and at run time, I can create a new node using the data from two textboxes at button click event.
GrowthChartsDataGrid.GrowthChartGridView += <Month> {txtMonth.text} <Weight> {txtWeight.text} </Weight> </Month>
Now what I want to do is, I want to add this node back in to my XML. Therefore, the result I am looking for is, my local XML should update like this.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<GrowthChartGridView>
<Month> 1
<Weight>3.5</Weight></Month>
<Month> 2
<Weight>3.9</Weight></Month>
<Month> 3
<Weight>4.5</Weight></Month>
<Month> {txtMonth.text} <Weight> {txtWeight.text} </Weight> </Month> //I can read data from text boxes so its fine but I can not store this in to my original XML
</GrowthChartGridView>

How to update XML file using XSLT
Hi there,
I have a "small" issue with exporting data to an XML file using XSLT.
A two steps process is needed to import data from a non-hierarchical XML file into ABAP, change the data, and then update the XML file with new values. The problem is not trivial, since the format of the XML file is a complex one: there are many interdependent elements on the same level, pointing to each other by using id and ref attributes. Based on these values the data can be read and written into an internal table. I use XSLT and XPath for that. So the inbound process is done and seems to work correctly. I have to mention that the file contains much more data than I need. I am working only with a small part of it.
Now the changed data must be exported back into the XML file, meaning that the content of certain elements must be updated. How can this be done with XSLT? I can pass only the internal table to the transformation, so how do I access the XML file in order to update it? I have tried to use the <B>xsl:document()</B> function to access the content of the file store locally on my PC, but it fails each time by throwing and URI exception. I have tried the absolute path without any addition and the path with the file:/// addition. Same result. Please advise.
Many thanks,
Ferenc
P.S. Please provide me with links only if they are relevant for this very matter. I will not give points for irrelevant postings...Now the changed data must be exported back into the XML file, meaning that the content of certain elements must be updated. How can this be done with XSLT?
XSLT approach: check these online tutorial
http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2000/08/02/xslt/index.html
http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2000/06/07/transforming/index.html
ABAP approach:
for example you have the xml (original) in a string called say xml_out .
data: l_xml type ref to cl_xml_document ,
node type ref to if_ixml_node .
create object l_xml.
call method l_xml->parse_string
exporting
stream = xml_out.
node = l_xml->find_node(
name = 'IDENTITY'
ROOT = ROOT
l_xml->set_attribute(
name = 'Name'
value = 'Charles'
node = node
(the above example reads the element IDENTITY and sets attribute name/value to the same)
like wise you can add new elements starting from IDENTITY using various methods available in class CL_XML_DOCUMENT
so how do I access the XML file in order to update it?
you have already read this XML into a ABAP variable right?
Sorry couldnt understand your whole process, why do you need to read local XML file?

Create a Purchase order using the BAPI using the data in the XML file.
Hello Gurus,
here is the scenario can anyone help me how to proceed explaining the procedure?
Create a Purchase order using the BAPI using the data in the XML file.
comprehensive explanations are appreciated.
thanks in advance.hi,
first use fm "bapi_po_create".
then use fm "BAPI_ACC_GL_POSTING_POST"
The demo environment was made with real business scenario in mind, but following subjects need to be addressed in a live implementation:
No exceptions and error handling is implemented, except the order rejection (e.g. partly delivery);
In Navision both XML Ports and the XML DOM has been used to integrate with SAP XI, because XML ports has some drawbacks regarding to Namespaces in XML Documents (mandatory in SAP XI);
A minimum of SAP and Navision customization is required to implement this solution. (e.g. user exit in SAP, Navision XML DOM). -

How to retrieve data (xml file) using jsp
I am a newbie to xml. I have decided to store my information in the xml file. may I know how can I retrieve my information from the xml file?
Thanx in advance.I am a newbie to xml. I have decided to store my
information in the xml file. may I know how can I
retrieve my information from the xml file?
Thanx in advance.You can get the information from the XML file using one of the parsers available, such as Xerces http://xml.apache.org, and JDOM as an API.
Using this you have the option of having a SAXParser or a DOMParser.
SAX (Simple API for XML) is an event based parser, so if you know the XML structure, and need to find a certain element, you can just look for the element name,and retrieve the value of the element, it's attributes and its children.
DOM(Document Object Model)represents the XML as a tree, but uses more resources as it stores the entire tree in memory. But it is good in that you can traverse the whole tree.
JDOM would be a good idea too. If you download this, you can use it's API, which is very good, that will use the parser on your system (Xerces). I would definately recommend JDOM. -
