Lock phone problem
Hello,
I have developed a java application that locks the phone when the user is out of the office:
1)User enters service
2)User is asked to enter their PIN.
3)Application checks pin against the CCM and if valid, reconfigures the phone so that no external calls can be made anymore (I use AXL to change the CSS of the line).
It has been working perfectly for months. BUT recently, I’ve had a very important problem. There was a problem with the hardware of the CCM Publisher and it broke down, and the users that had locked their phones couldn’t unlocked them (because the application can’t change the CSS of the line in the CCM Subscriber…)
Have you ever faced this problem? Any suggestion to solve it?

The point is that when I developed the application I didn’t consider the possibility that the Publisher fail, and now that I think about it I can’t figure out a way to avoid this possible scenario, in which the Publisher server is not available and the Subscriber take control. Since its database is read only, the users that have locked their phones won’t be able to unlock them and place calls, because there is no way to change the CSS of the lines to their original values….
Those who have developed a similar lock/unlock application, have you ever had this problem? Do you know a workaround?

I had my damaged unlocked iPhone 4 replaced by apple with a refirb model and am pretty sure they've issued me with a locked phone.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Is Apple aware that they are refirbing but not unlocking phones?

TyIt is entirely possible that the human you spoke with at Apple simply made a mistake. You do realize that humans make mistakes, correct?
Take the device back to the store along with any documents you have stating it is or is supposed to be unlocked and let them clear it up.
This all assumes the device was unlocked by the carrier and not some shady website or local electronics store. -
My Phone Problem
In April 2013 I signed 2 year with me and my wife.
I picked an HTC android phone that they had offered when
you sign up for I think $50-100.
In November I accidentally cracked the screen. I went to the
local store where I bought the plan and they checked my account and saw that I
had insurance. Then they made sure I did not enter the pool of people being
helped in the store and gave me a pamphlet and said to call this number and
they will help you. I felt a little pawned off but thought ok this is how its
done so lets call them and they supposidly overnight you a new phone after you
pay $100. I'm not even gonna go into the paying $100, my problem was worse
here, the $100 was nothing.
I went home and called the number but it would not ever let
you talk to anyone and it kept saying to do it online. So I filled out the
claim online. I got the new phone right
away but it would not hold a charge. I tried the new charger it came with, the
old charger, then I switched batteries from the old phone and it still would
not hold a charge. I could charge the battery in the old phone and put the
battery in the new phone and it would drain right away. So I look at a few
threads and there seems to be an issue with this phone and something about the
charging port. So I go back to the store and they listen to me and use their
charger/tester on the phone and say yes we agree it is not charging. They said
I have to wait the two years to get the upgrade or they could finance me(make
payments) for a new one. I politely explained I don't think I should have to
pay $500 for a new phone because I happened to pick a crappy one that you
offered in your store. Then they told me to call the insurance number again and
escorted me to the door!
So I call the number again and they run you around on all
kinds of automated questions and make you give them numbers off of the phone
and after about an hour I got to talk to someone. He then very procedurally
made me plug the phone in the charge and tell him if the charge light and the
meter in the menus says its charging. I explained yes, but that's the problem
it looks like it's charging and it actually is not charging cause the battery
power decreases. I told him I went to the local store to confirm this and they
agreed. He then told me I would have to leave it on the charger for a couple of
hours at least before using it and that's all he can do and to call back in a
few hours if it does not work. What do you do when the store you went to does
not want anything to do with your problem and the insurance service guy won't
listen? My last effort was to call verizon and tell them the story and if they
cannot help me fix this situation I'm leaving. They lady was nice and said she
was going to put me on with the insurance company again and I thought oh great,
I could have done this. But the insurance person did not take me through any
tests or questions they just set up the shipment of another phone.
Not to mention that while all this was going on I was trying
to use the old cracked phone to charge the battery then take it out and put in
the new broken phone that would not charge and used up the battery quickly.
A few things out of all this....
I have a bad taste in my mouth in general regarding
Verizon and service. Really? Upgrading my phone a little earlier is that big of
a deal? I pay this company $180 a month for me and my wife. I was millimeters
away from going to ATT and saying SeeYa at whatever costs.
That local verizon store is evil, is that how everyone
elses service is at the local store? Let me know.
That Asurion insurance service that you pay $5 or 6 a
month for is a fricken joke.
The whole experience was bad and I cannot wait til my
contract is up or until I have another problem, cause I'm outta there.This is my point, the overall degradation and acceptance of poorer and poorer customer service.
Yes I broke my phone. But listen, I thought there was a good chance I might break my phone in a couple of years, I'm a clutz! But that is why I bought insurance and have paid for it every month to Verizon!
But when I went to the Verizon store I was basically pushed out and one time just about walked out. And I am a very non confrontational person, I acted completely professionally, they just did not want to help me. Their attitude towards anyone that has insurance, IS ALREADY A VERIZON CUSTOMER, and has a phone problem is to push them on, and ask for "NEXT". Because they know I am locked in a contract.
Take a look at society and how people are doing business these days, it is so self service, they don't even want to deal with you, they give you a website. Or in this case a phone number which then referred me to a website.
People we are paying good hard earned money for these services and I just think we are falling into the thinking of the masses and "that's how it is so accept it" in this self serve society.
Yes, Asurion initially did not handle this well, and I indicated this on their serve.
But My main complaint is the overall customer service, or lack their of, with my Carrier who I signed up for this insurance with and whom I pay dearly.
I want people to know so maybe they can make an informed decision next time they need to. -
Power / lock button problem - screenshot

I have iphone 5. For one week i have a problem with power / lock button.I didn't drop the phone. When i pressed the lock button, it captures screenshot. Sometimes problem disaappears for a while unmeaningly. I followed the following precedure to ged rid of this problem.
1- Restart the phone - Problem continues
2- Reset the phone - Problem continues
3- Backup - Problem continues
4- Restore - Problem continues

I have recieved a locked phone from US. At& T confirmed tht the same could be unlocked and had suggested the procedure of 'back up and restotre to unlock the phone, which was done. After this when I removed the old simcard, the iphone cannot be activated
When you connected to iTunes and restored, did you get the
'Congratulations. Your iPhone is now unlocked' message?
If not, first try again. Follow the procedure in the email
AT&T sent you exactly - do not skip steps. If still no success,
contact AT&T as the problem is on their end.
Do you have a sim in the iPhone when trying to activate it?
You must put a sim into the iPhone for activation to compllete. -
How do I resolve LOCKED DISKS problem ? NO ACCESS ANYMORE !

I've looked carefully where to post this topic,
and I hope it's the right place here
(I have already been warned not to post the same questions in different places).
I have actually 2 internal volumes locked, 2 external Firewire volumes locked and 2 USB external volumes locked. I'm talking about *5,7 To* with *NO ACCESS* anymore.
It happened suddenly, and I was working on Snow Leopard 10.6.3 internal drive. This volume is the *only one* that has NOT been locked, but I lost a lot of applications, documents and so on on it.
Each of the locked volumes I am talking about shows,
in *Sharing & Permissions* (Get Info window),
the same Privileges :
— everyone : Custom
— admin : Custom
— olcha (Me) : Custom
— staff : Custom
— everyone (again) : Custom
You'll notice that "System" is not there (should be there with R+W),
and "admin" should have also R+W privilege.
I don't know why "staff" is here (perhaps, one day, somebody will explain to me the difference between : wheel, staff and admin).
I also don't know why "everyone" is there two times.
If I unlock the padlock (bottom right) with my password, I can only
check or uncheck the "Ignore ownership on this volume" square (bottom left).
Doing this (apparently) offers *no interest at all* to solve the problem
(and what does this function produce, when activated or not ?).
I can't *absolutely not* :
• Change *any privilege* of any of the 5 items ;
• Remove (with "-") any of these items ;
• Add a line (for example "System" or "wheel", why not ?)
but nothing new is shown after "+" making.
• The wheel (on the right of "+" and "-") shows only "revert changes" in grey.
I phoned immediately last thursday Apple Assistance,
and I am in contact with a Level 2 Apple Adviser who gave me his e-mail.
I sent him two messages, but he replied me that perhaps MONDAY
he could find the time to call me.
Now, first, please tell me if you have any idea or solution !

and would like to know what you think about what follows :
You know that, in Disk Utility, you can erase a disk or partition.
If, in "Security Options…", I choose "Don't Erase Data", and then "Erase…" :
1) Sharing and Permissions will be changed and become (reset to) correct ;
2) It's said, in "Security Options…",
that "many commonly available disk recovery applications can restore that data".
I would be very glad that you indicate me :
1) the best application to use for that recovery ;
2) I already own "Drive Genius 3.0", "Data Rescue 3.0.2" and
(I think it's the best after a try on an internal 30 Go partition)
"Stellar Phoenix Macintosh Data Recovery".

I won't copy here the texts that are on both sites, but it's very instructive.
Remember that the applications don't only work on files and folders,
*but also on disks attributes*.
You'll also have some work to do (I don't remember, perhaps not), by going in the Get Info windows
and changing privileges to the correct ones, that means you must know
(I'm not sure, verify please) what privileges are to be set for a volume
(YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THEM, AND CHANGES YOU MAKE WON'T BE RESET TO "CUSTOM").
Does anybody know something about the "Ignore ownership on this volume" checkbox ?
*I always uncheck it*.
I would also like very much to know the differences between the two-headed iconed groups :
"staff", "wheel" and "admin", and IN THE END know *WHERE are the rules* you have to observe
when doing changes in privileges (for example, I don't want to give my password to copy something in Users folder, nor "MyName" folder. I've changed that without, I hope, having created any dysfunction).

Row lock contention problem on Inventory Management

My client is product based company and have e-Commerce (online Sale Order) application using Oracle database 10.2.0.5 & Web application deployed on WLS. Client have ~ 90 Warehouse country wide and ~ 200 Products (Items). Each product stock for each warehouse is maintained in Inventory Table (INV_BALANCE) which get updated for each order and their sale's products. We are using NO WAIT function to acquire lock on row to update stock balance. Last few months, client business is growing very fast and during Promotional Events (EXPO), they have sales of ~ 75K orders (~ 250K Items) within 2-3 days which start causing row lock contention problem on INV_BALANCE table. We are seeing lots of "Row Lock Wait" and "enq: TX - row lock contention" event which cause ORA-00060: Deadlock detected and we need to eventually clear blocking sessions or everything just choked.

I saw you are using FOR UPDATE in your query.
If you want reduce row locks, then you not must use FOR UPDATE.
As you know, FOR UPDATE is locking rows.

Apart from the lock button problem in iphone 5 the display brightness suddenly goes blank and becomes normal after locking and unlocking the iphone. The Apple service centre in India is denying to service the iphone as it was purchase in USA even though the iphone is in warranty.
iPhones do not have an international warranty. Warranty is valid only for the country of purchase. This is most likely because different countries require different iPhone models. Not reasonable to expect all countries to maintain stock for all models.

Got a replacement iphone 4 today. Could not recover contacts etc due to water damage. New phone won't let us make or receive calls until we hook up to itunes. Don't know what that means. Any help would be appreciated. Phone problem or Sprint problem?

I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again
