How can i lock preferences for all printers in FF? In about:config there are individual settings for every connected printer. So I have to know the name/identifier of every printer to apply lockPref() in CFG file. But i need some common solution, without connection to printer ID's.

I'm working with a windows CITRIX server and I need to disable the 'Remember passwords for sites' preference for all the users on the server. How do you do this for any user launching firefox on the server?

You can lock the signon.rememberSignons pref to false via the mozilla.cfg file.

You canuse a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify new (default) values.
Place a local-settings.js file in the defaults\pref folder where also the channel-prefs.js file is located to specify using mozilla.cfg.

pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0);
These functions can be used in the mozilla.cfg file:

Setting Default Preferences for All Users in Crystal Reports Server 2008 v1

We are currently looking to set the default preferences in the CMC for all of our users.

The first part of the thread did seem promising but I am unable to find the sample .jsp code that people recommended.
I would assume that this scenario is common enough that someone knows a way to set universal preference defaults.

I thought I could just run it too but when I attempt to I get a Windows Script Host error:

I noticed the first most line seems to be markup for a web interface though I am not familiar with vbs so I may be wrong. I used the publishing wizard to put the script on the CMC to attempt to run it through the CMC but it still does not work.

Group policy preference for creating printers setting the wrong printer as default

We have a a group policy preference applied to users. At the moment we create a shared printer and set it as default for all users in a specific OU. Now we need to add another shared printer. I have updated the policy and set it to create
the new shared printer and have set item level targeting to the same OU as the first printer. I want to keep the existing printer as the default, however when the policy runs, the new printer is created fine but it is set as the default
printer. Is this because it has been added last ? There doesn't seem to be a way of changing the order that the printers are applied.
Both printers are Shared printers and are set to Create
The existing printer (printer A) is set as the default printer. It is targeted at the London OU.
The new printer (printer B) has NOT been set as default. It is targeted at the London OU.
No other options have been set.
When the policy is applied both printers are added but printer B is being set as the default.
Any help would be appreciated.

Set this printer as the default printer... is not selected in the new GPP Printer item. Besides, we can change the orders of the printer items. To do this, select the printer item, right click, click All Tasks, and choose Move Up or Move
Down to change the order.

In cProjects the authorizations can be managed either by authorization profile administration by system administrator for General authorizations or by Project specific authorizations for individual cProjects elements by Project owner.

How do I set Premiere preferences for all users - University lab machine?

I am setting up an editing suite for our University which has a "per machine" Creative Cloud licence. It is a PC installation. This machine will be used by a class of students who will log in with their own credentials. I need to set the preferences for Premiere (video output, workspace layout, default drives etc) so that it will be the same for all users logging in since we want a consistent setup for teaching purposes and dont want to have to help each student set up so that it shows correctly on the monitors. Is there a way of saving this setting as the default for every user?
The most important one is the preferences - Playback in order to set up the second monitor.

Does ctrl-alt-shift clear preferences for all users?

On a multi-user computer, does holding ctrl-alt-shift during InDesign launch clear preferences files for all users on that computer, or just the current user? I have a few multi-user machines that are having issues, which the knowledagebase says is often cured by clearing preferences.

Iam working on an portlet app as part of it am planning to make the portlet application as jsr 168 compliant.
I have few questions regarding the jsr 168 stuff.
a) what versions of Bea portal do support the jsr 168 portlets it is it available for download todo some investigation.
b) This is an question related to preferences - For example Suppose user "A" publshes the portlet and another logged in user views the portlet he should see the same set of preferences or the defaults set by the user "A" . Some portals like Oracle portal achieve this by supporting a mode called Edit Defaults mode. How do i achieve this in a Portal which doesn't support edit defaults but it is JSR compliant. In other words the prefences set by the user "A" should be available to user "B" , how does i achieve this functionality in other portals. Note Edit defaults mode is an custom mode supported by the JSR 168 API it is not a mandatory mode like the Edit, View or Help .

Want to set Reader option in Internet Preferences for all users that login to the workstation

How can I do this? Is there a config file to edit or a policy object to maintain the perferences settings for all users. Right now this has to be set manually for each users that would use the system. Thank you!

Set Preferences for all users

I need to be able to set QT preferences that are persistent to all users of a particular computer.
For example, I need to set the video to Safe Mode, but that setting only gets saved to the currently logged in user. Safe Mode would not be enabled for a user logging in with a different account.
This is on a Windows XP SP3 machine with the latest version of QT.

C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTime cpl is the file for the QT control panel.
With XP pro open the Folder Options control panel and click on the View tab. Uncheck> Use simple file sharing [Recommended] this will give the computer a Security tab. While in Folder Options you probably should put a check\dot in> Show hidden files and folders, and uncheck> Hide extensions for known file types and maybe uncheck> Hide protected opersting system file Recommended, to be sure QuickTime cpl shows up.
Right click on QuickTime cpl and click on the Security tab. This should give you the ability to work with permissions for user accounts

Mail (8.0) preference for all recipients displayed

I've searched online and I've looked over the Mail preferences and view options, but I just can't figure out how to make ALL recipients show in emails that I send and receive.
For example, a friend sends me (and 4 others) an email. When I see it in Mail it shows two of the recipients with a "and 3 more..." link in blue after that. I would rather the email display all of the recipients without having to click to show all. Anyone know how to make that happen? Apple seems to want to default to one line and I would rather default to the full list of email addresses instead.

Still having this issue and accidentally hit solved.

Firefox slow and unresponsive with facebook and zynga and then locks up for all other tabs open

I finally had to uninstall the beta 4 version as I couldn't take the issues any longer. The browser would become slow and then totally unresponsive mostly when using facebook and zynga. however, all tabs would become slow and unresponsive and would have to be rebooted. It wouldn't be 5 minutes and it would have to be done again. Even without facebook/zynga loaded in a tab, the entire browser is unbelievably slow. I am running mac os x 10.5.8.
I went back to the old version until I hear back as I just don't have time to sit and wait and wait and wait only to have to reboot the program constantly.

I found a "work around". I installed Incredible Bookmarks 0.7.3. That allows me to add an additional Bookmarks Toolbar without causing the bouncing problem.
Putting bookmarks in the IB bar was a little tricky. It allows customization, but only to the extent of choosing bookmarks by topic or by a subdirectory of the Bookmarks Menu. What I actually put on the toolbar are such subdirectories (or folders), so I normally could only put one at a time. (This problem doesn't exist with the Firefox Bookmarks Toolbar, which allows you to copy subfolders, not just individual bookmarks).
I solved the problem by moving the additional folders I wanted to put in the IB Toolbar into a folder I (cleverly) called "IB Toolbar", then selected that for the actual Toolbar. The result: a row of folders, exactly what I wanted. (Actually, it's a second row of folders, since I still have the original Firefox Bookmarks Toolbar.)
I'd still prefer MultiRow, but that doesn't appear to be working with Firefox 3.6.18 and higher, so until I upgrade to Firefox 5 (and see if the Plus version will work) this will have to do.

Extremely slow printing (for all printers)

In the past my iMac used to print fine with the dialog box coming up very quickly. However, now, although all other applications are fast, it takes a long time for the print-dialog to open and then, at each action in this box, the wheel appears and I have to wait again.
And when the dialog does open the number of copies is blank (rather than '1').
Printing is OK with Word but I find that I cannot print from Safari and from several other applications (e.g. iPhoto). And of course the waiting is a real pain!
The message that I get when I cannot print is not at all informative ('unable to print') and I find that printing to PDF is also not possible.
I have increased RAM-memory (to 2Gb) and have tried repairing user permissions but this didn't help and so I image that I will now need to re-install or reset the printing system?
Has anyone had a similar problem? Maybe there is a HOWTO or a previous posting that will explain what the problem might be and how I could fix it?

Which printer ? and what version of drivers do you currently use ? ie. what is the version number of the printer utility software that you use with your printer.

How to create a PDF that prints at actual size for all printers

I create printable educational products for teachers and homeschoolers. I need to be able to make some printable PDFs that have cards set to a specific dimension, say 3" x 3". When I create PDFs in InDesign and print them, the printer tends to shrink the PDF down. This happens even when I set the Page Scaling to None. But regardless of what my printer does, I would like to be able to create PDFs that print at actual size for anyone who purchases my products. How can this be done? Can I change the settings when I create the PDF? Do I need to includes special instructions with my products? Thanks so much for your help.

You can specify the printing process in the PDF for Acrobat and Reader, open the PDF in Acrobat > file properties (right mouse click on the page) and in the extended tab (the most right tab) you can set printing not to scale for that PDF as default setting.
