Locking an account with password compare

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to lock an account using compare on userPassword or some mechanism other than the user binding directly to the LDAP service?
We have a service that binds as a service and searches for a DN based on the UID entered by the user. Currently the service then has to bind using the returned DN to use the password policy lockout features. I would rather that once bound as the service that it could compare the userPassword immediately.
Any ideas?

Hi,
You have to setup a user account in LDAP who has access to read (only) the userPassword attribute (ACI).
The initial bind should be performed under this user's credentials.
You also have to hash the user password with the chosen hashing algorithm.
You either do ldapsearch for userPassword and compare on the application level
or do ldapcompare to compare the values immediately.
However having a user (other that directory manager) that can read the userPassword
is not recommended for security reasons. I would stick in DSEE's internal mechanisms
for password lockout policies unless you're willing to write (secure) code
to invent it all over again.

Keep looking it can be done. I have a folder on my hard drive that requires a password everytime I try to open it. I found how to do this in an old "Mac OS - The missing manual" but don't remember off the top of my head how I did it. I remember you have to partition a portion of the hard drive, I think I did like 10 Gig of my 1 Teribite external drive and then you give it a name and make up a password. The password is NOT changeable and if you lose it you can't get back in that folder. It appears as a standard folder but needs a password to open it.

If you forgot your screen-lock passcode then:
Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes.

This is my 3rd email: Can not open my account with password

Firefox will not accept my password. I have reentered it: 8 characters, number and upper and lower case, no symbols. Cookies accepted. I have used my old ID and opened two more accounts to access your help desk. This is my third email account I have used to open. I just sent them under [email protected] and [email protected] Once I exit, I can not reenter, even though I have used the reset several times based on emails sent to me. Please respond to my email account(s) as I can not access this forum under the user names under which I asked this question, once I leave the site.
By the way, my original request was to find out the difference between FF 35.0.0 which I just installed and 34.0.5 it replaces. I can not find that info on the web site or by a query under Google.

Didn't answer security questions, since update cannot access my itunes account with password

Since we updated my mother's ipad, she cannot access her itunes account. It wants her to answer two security questions, which we didn't do when we set it up. Also I put in all the info and it didn't recognize her birthday, which I know we put in right when we set up her account.

How are businesses handling the "APPLE LOCK" on company cell phones when an employee leaves and their phone is unusable because the euipment was set up on the employee's personal Apple Account with their ID and password? When an employee leaves a business and the company has purchased the equipment, the company should have the rights to reissue the equipment and Apple should provide an alternative to unlock the equipment from the employee's personal APPLE account and password so the company (that purchased the equipment) can reissue the line and equipment to another employee.

If you can prove ownership to Apple, they may be able to help you.
The best way of handing things would be strong policies requiring that the equipment be turned in in a usable state. i.e. not activation locked. Failing this, the employee should be charged the cost of the replacement phone. Held from their final paycheck if required.

Locking one partition with a password or protecting it otherwise

I have an internal HD that is partitioned. Would it be possible to lock one partition with a password or protect it from prying eyes when I let a 'stranger' use my computer? I know I could put a folder on it with TrueCrypt, but since I would only want to occasionally lock the disk, it is not really an option.

Use Finder -> Get Info on the drive to change the permissions on your partition. Set your user account to be the owner, and then set Group and Others to No Access. Then let guests use any other user account than your own.
Good one had not thought of that. Is however as Thomas said not a optimal solution as there are ways around it.
Is there a way to make the disk invisible and not accessible? Or have it not mount for certain users?

Content (apps, music, ibooks, films etc) is tied to the account that originally downloaded it, so if the iBooks app was downloaded using the account that you used to share with your ex then only that account can download updates to it. As it's a free app you could delete it and re-download it under your own account - and then re-download your ibooks into it (or copy the books to your computer's iTunes first via File > Transfer Purchases and then sync them back to the app).

Click on the Firefox button then select Options to open the Options dialog. Now go to the Sync panel for the option to setup a new account.

I would say let him fess up and give him a chance to mend his ways, but there is at least one app that goes for $900 (according to another poster's request for a refund). You may end up $1000+ deeper gone.
Change the account number which will close the current links and freeze/prevent charges under the old number. As I understand it Apple gets grumpy when charges get rejected, and you need to jump through hoops to get a payment method reattached.
