Locking fields on save

Hi there,
I need to create a simple interactive form for my company. The form contains a few free-text fields and drop-down boxes. The only logic involved will be A) some fields being visible or invisible based on previous selections and B) once the form has been filled out, a button can be clicked to "lock down" and save the completed form.
By lock-down I mean that each field will become read-only and non-editable (essentially want it to be a static PDF at that point) for distribution.
My questions is how I can set the various object's value type attribute via javascipt? (the attribute I mean is the one that can have values of "User Entered - Optional", "Read Only" etc).
I'm assuming this would be the standard way to do this, but to be honest I've only started using Lifecycle today so if there is an easier way to do this please let me know!

You set the access property to "readOnly". For example, in JavaScript for a field called 'firstName', form1.page1.firstName.access = "readOnly";

Lock text:
LiveCycle Designer lets you lock text in text objects or in the captions of objects by using the Lock Text command. When you select Lock Text, you must double-click the desired text or caption in order to edit it. This makes it not as easy to modify the text. If Lock Text is not enabled, you click in the caption or text object to start editing the text.
Lock Text applies to all text and captions on the form design. Using Lock Text is particularly useful if you want to select and move objects but not make any changes to the text. You can single-click the object to select it, but you must double-click the caption or text in order make any changes.
Lock Static Object:
LiveCycle Designer lets you lock all static objects on the form design by using the Lock Static Objects command. All static objects in the form design cannot be selected, moved, or modified.

Eliminating Visible Fields on "Save As" Once form is filled out

Hello,
Has anyone figured out a way to create a form, that once the recipient has filled out can be "Saved As>NewFileName.pdf", and the newly created PDF does NOT show fields when it's opened?
For background, i'm trying to create a very basic electronic letterhead that coworkers can fill out as a form, and then "SaveAs" a new PDF to send out to clients. The rub is that once the existing form has been filled out, and resaved with a new filename, it always shows up in Reader with the form fields highlighted, and looks tacky. I'd basically like a way to "eliminate fields" upon "SaveAs"?

You can use JavaScript to set fields to read-only. This would have to be done some time before the document is saved obviously. I often use something like a bookmark that when clicked will trigger the code to do this and the document can then be saved. If your coworkers will be using Acrobat, they can flatten certain fields, again using a script. This process converts the field appearances to regular page contents and makes it a bit more difficult for recipients form altering it.

Error when communicating with server, and locked fields

Hi there,
I am having a really weird, and annoyingly intermittent, problem.
I'm trying to write a single value to my application via an Input EVDRE, for testing purposes. I've been doing this all morning (admittedly to a different application set but still...) but this time when I "send and refresh", it takes ages before coming back with this error:
"An error has occurred while communicating with the server"
Further more, if I look at the table "dbo.lckFinance" there is now a locked field in the database for this specific category and time. So a user without access to a DBA (or the database, in my case!) would be stuck now - even if the communication problem was solved, they couldn't post anyway.
The application is not part of appshell, we are running BPC version 7.0.112 on SQL Server 2005.
I've looked in the Event Viewer on the server and found nothing untoward there.
Any idea what is happening and how I can avoid this in future? The communication thing is obviously a problem, but I'm just as concerned by the locking.

If you have problems with the network this has to be solved.
I don't think we can have a software working if a cable was unplug ).
We advice our customer to use citrix servers in case if the latency into network is high (more than 200 ms) and of course in case of loosing packages.
But I don't think the problem in your case is related to the network.
It seems in your case it was a problem of send governor.
This can have problem when the cube and dimension are not syncronize or you have an error in one of dimensions.
Also can you check the table sgqueue if you have any record there when nobody is sending data?
If you have records there then you have to delete these records.
Check also tbl"your application"lock if you have records.

Clear signature but do not unlock previously locked fields

I have designed a form in LiveCycle ES 8.2.1 in which certain fields are locked when a check box is checked. They should remain locked. However, when a first digital signature is inserted and the user clears the signature. previously locked fields get unlocked. These fields must always stay locked. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have added the code in Employee Signature field Change event to check the signature status and lock fields if the checkbox is checked . But it is not working.
The requirement is that if the check box is checked, all the fields above that must be locked whether signature is valid or cleared.
This is the first form I have designed in LiveCycle. So I would appreciate any help in this matter.

Reader X (10.01) locks up on Save As... (with workaround)

I wouldn't normally be posting this because frankly there are enough users of Reader out there who can post bug reports. However, I found a really strange workaround that I wanted to make sure was "out there" in case someone else in the community might benefit.
The situation is: Acobat Reader X locks up after Save As...
In my particular situation these were pretty large single-page PDFs, probably saved directly out of Photoshop or Illustrator. I had added all sorts of annotations using the Note Tool. After Save As... the Save dialog box didn't go away, even after half an hour.
However, just as I was about to give up and use Task Manager to force quit, I opened up Photoshop CS5. Instantly Reader unfroze and the file was saved and everyone was happy.
The next time the same situation occurred, I didn't even bother waiting. I just relaunched PS5 and it freed up Reader again.
So if you have CS5 installed and you run into Reader locking up, why not try launching one of the CS5 apps? Worked for me.

The only place that we use secured PDFs is through a website called readinga-z.com. Which you need a paid account to access their PDFs. I cannot provide you with a hotlink directly to their files. I sent you a private message about this as well. I have multiple employees having the same issue.
I have contacted readinga-z.com's support and they have not had any other reported issues similiar to what we are having. They directed me to contact adobe which is why I am now here.

Lock fields after send a PDF file

Hello all,
I have done an application that consists in fill in many fields using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 program.
After many fields are filled, I click on a Regular button that sends an e-mail.
When I receive the e-mail, I download the attached pdf file to a determined folder.
The problem is that when I open this generated PDF I am able to edit the fields.
Is there any way to lock fields after clicking the Send button?

After your code for emailing the form, place additional line of script for making the form as editable..

Form email submission with limited locked fields

I've been reading through forum after forum and piece-mealing together what I need isn't working. I'm COMPLETELY unexperienced with any kind of JavaScript changes or additions to forms in Adobe (I do not have or use LiveCycle), so I'm struggling a bit. I have a lot of relatively complex forms, but only complex in how many different fields/types of fields. So, what I need is this:
Form #1:
I need to create a submit button at the bottom of the form that will do two things:
Lock all editable fields
Email the locked PDF (preferably without having to be saved and then attached to an email)
Submit button should disappear
Form #2:
Different individuals need to complete different sections of the form, but there are no signature fields. Here's the order of what I need to happen after the first person completes their sections and clicks a "submit" button:
Specific fields (not all) need to be locked
The form needs to attached to an email (without having to save and then attach)
Submit button needs to disappear
After the receivers (Persons 2 and 3) complete the final field it needs to lock and email to the final person in the chain.
(For clarity; the final field is a field that will be text, and will not be able to be completed without all the other information)
If someone could assist me with the specific script, as well as confirm what selections I need to make for the button (ie Mouse Up, Mouse Enter, etc.) and other fields that control locking, that would be tremendously helpful. Thank you.

Check if you have any hidden fields on the form which are required..
If not, some how the disabled may not be working as expected..
If you still have issues, you can send your form to [email protected] so I can have a look at it..

Sharepoint Foundation 2013 People field wont save data

Guys, having an issue with a list column. We have some columns that are Person or Group. when we enter in a user, it finds it just fine saves it just fine. but if i come back into that list and edit some other field the Person or Group field is totaly
cleared out. I don't know what is going on. we are using SharePoint foundation 2013.

If you're using SharePoint 2013 April 2013 CU or higher, this is a known issue where the People data is missing in Edit view. There is a separate issue that is resolved in the September 2014 CU:

get all the modified entries and store them in an internal table and udpate them in to the required transaction or your custom table.

here u need to 2 performs for PF status and USER_COMMAND in the ALV parameters.
create a custom PF status and create push buttons and assign your ok codes in your PF status.
if the field has to be edited in the ALV then pass EDIT = 'X' for that field in the fieldcatlog preparation.

Maintenance View - update field on SAVE

I need to create a maintenance view on top of a table. If a user modifies and saves one field I would like to set a time stamp in a further field of the same table. How do I have to do that?

Here you can create routine to add a time stamp to automatically add when some user will modify / update any table row.
