Locking the scroll

I've ran into another problem while working.
I am creating a PDF with pages with many buttons, and the user clicks the button and it takes him to different parts of the PDF document. Really nice.
The problem is that the user must surf between pages ONLY by clicking buttons, but shouldn't scroll its way through the document.
What I need to do is to, simply, make the user unable to scroll down or up between pages in a given PDF file. Is this possible?

How do I lock the scroll bar on, keeping valid HTML5?

I have a site that was originally created in FrontPage some years ago, and I have now redone it using Muse (not before time, I hear you say!)
There were several pages on the site where the content was not large enough to need to be scrolled on most displays, and some browsers removed the scroll bar from the right of the page when those pages were visited. This resulted in a shift to the right on those pages, which made all the fixed elements move on the screen when going between pages, which I found very annoying.
I fixed it by adding this code to the pages in question -

This worked fine and locked the scroll bar on, and I wanted to do the same with the Muse version of the site.
I have added the same code using the add HTML feature, and it still works fine.
However, if I run any of the pages concerned through a validator, I get the error -
Validation Output: 1 Error
Line 23, Column 28: Element style is missing required attribute scoped.

I tried to find out why this was, but all I found was a lot of standards documents which were mostly way over my head!
So, is there any modification I can do to that code to get it through the validator, or do I need to look at a different method of locking the scroll bar on on my web pages?

Sorry for the delay in responding.
I have now added "scoped="scoped"" to the code, and the validater (http://validator.w3.org) is now showing just a warning rather than an error.
"Line 23, Column 44: The scoped attribute on the style element is not supported by browsers yet. It would probably be better to wait for implementations.

I'm not too worrid about that, as it is still passing it!
The code is inserted on the master page of my site, so it presumably propagates through to all the pages, including those that don't need it, but this doesn't seem to cause any problem.

How to disable the "scroll lock" pointer?

I use 2-finger swipe to scroll on my trackpad.
I often get my pointer transformed into a scrolling pointer: it is gray circle about 1 cm in diameter, with a small white circle in the middle, 1 small arrow tip pointing down below the circle and 1 arrow tip pointing up above the circle.
This happens mostly when I touch the trackpad with 2 fingers, like when I am about to scroll with 2-finger gesture.
If I could post a png image I would but that is about as accurate as I could describe it.
When it appears, it locks the scrolling (with 1 finger swipe it keeps scrolling in the direction of the swipe).
This is very annoying because it interferes with the 2-finger scrolling.
Sometimes I get a "move" pointer (same as the one a above but arrow tips in all 4 directions).
Does anybody know what this "feature" is called and how to disable it?

Hi,
The Scrollbar in the activeX browser is the property of the page being loaded and not the container.
If you have access to editing the HTML files that you are loading, add the following line in the html document:
If you don't have write access to the html files, then you can cover the scroll area of the activeX container with another activeX container. You can't use a decoration to cover it since the activeX container will remain on top.

Hi I was out in the world when I ran into the "No Scroll Lock" key / function on mt HP DVP Laptop. Really, HP could not add a ctrl + function key for this?
There is an easier solution than hooking an external keyboard, especially if you are not in the home/office.
USE THE WINDOWS ON SCREEN KEYBOARD! I found this on another post on the HP board. In Windows 7 you can easily find the On Screen Keyboard by pressing the windows globe on the bottom right corner that brings up your 'Start Menu" and type in "On Screen" in the search box at the bottom. You should see "On Screen Keyboard" app come up at the top. Alternately, go to Control Panel, Ease of Access, and you will see "Start On Screen Keyboard". Once enabled when you select the on screen application it comes right up. You can leave the on screen minimized at the bottom if you need to toggle Scroll Lock on and Off.
So there is a solution that does not include finding an external keyboard. But HP, this can't be a difficult thing to add to the bios, no? Like Alt + Fn Num Lock?

There is a key combination that operates the scroll lock function on your keyboard, try it and see if it works:
The reason that the manual switch is mapped to the scroll lock is because it is a rarely used (sometimes never used) function, unfortunately that is exactly why it is vanishing, gone on some keyboards already.Consult the documentation for the switch, see if the function controlled currently by the scroll lock key can be remapped to another key.

Locking the first column in advanced data grid on horizontal scrolling

My requirement is to freeze or lock the first column in the advanceddatagrid from scrolling on horizontal scroll event.
The column should always remain in the left hand side of the grid.
I tried with lockedColumnCount property of the advanced grid. But it is not working.
Could anyone help me please with code examples

I am able to do the above by using the method which passes
the sort information to data provider. But now the problem I am
facing is I cannot use event.preventDefault(); along with that
method. If I use event.preventDefault(); then it does not show the
descending arrow on the column, nor does it sort on multiple
columns.
But if I do not use event.preventDefault(); then the problem
I am getting is it remembers the previous sort order for a
particular column. eg. If I sorted on col A (desc)+colB and now I
sort on colC. Again if I click on col A, the data provider sorts on
colA ascending shows it and then the grid refreshes sorting on col
A but in descending order.
Does somebody know how to get around this problem?

HT5636 F14 took the lock off the "Scroll Lock" None of the suggestions above worked!!!

The Keyboard instructions are not correct. I couldn't get the "Scroll Lock" to turn off using the instructions Apple gives. I hit F14 and that turned off "Scroll Lock". It did not "print Screen.

What you need to do is triple-press the HOME BUTTON three times. You will be prompted to enter your passcode. This will bring up the options for guided-access mode and you will then need to click "End" in the top corner.
Guided-access mode must have accidentally been enabled by triple-clicking the home button.

Reading the scroll lock key

How could I make LabVIEW read the status of the scroll lock key (on or off)?

Using an event structure will only tell you if you pressed the scroll lock key, it will not tell you the current state of the scroll lock LED on your keyboard. For that you need to call user32.dll. The function is: unsigned char GetKeyState(long nVirtKey). I use this to get the state of the caps lock key, for which I pass this function 20. I'm not sure what the value of scroll lock is.
I've attached my caps lock key VI so you can see how to do it.

Quick flash of the Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll lock, and keyboard freezes temporarily

I have experienced a Quick flash of the Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll lock, and keyboard freezes temporarily. This occurs a few times a day. When the Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll lock flash i cant typ for a second the keyboard doesnt register the strokes. Is thsi just a hardware clitch or coudl I have a virus? What is teh solution?

Can you lock the Waveform Zoom to a specific time?

I edit audiobooks. Mono voice. No multi-track, just one channel of voice. When I select a zoom "width", shall I say, of the waveform - say I'm looking at just :15 seconds of waveform of 25:00 minutes of total audio. In other words, I'm zoomed in a lot. Audition frequently re-sizes the zoom, randomly and at will. (It's will, not mine!)
Sometimes it will zoom itself all the way in. Sometimes it might zoom out to see 3:00 of the 25:00. It just does it when it wants to.
Is there a way I can lock the waveform zoom to a specific "width" or time span?
What is triggering the software to do this?
I'm using the Mac version with a bluetooth Mac Mighty Mouse.

You can prevent the zoom level from changing by setting the "Zoom Sensitivity" to 0% in Audition's Preferences on the General tab. For me that means that the mouse scroll wheel has no effect on the zoom level.
Some of the buttons and keys (=/-) for zooming in and out will have no effect. What will happen if you try to zoom in is the waveform will be scrolled left/right, but not zoomed in/out, so the CTI is centered in the display.

Try calling Tech Support, they should be able to check to see if theres a lock and try to help you reset it, I had to call and get my account unflagged, for something that I didn't even do.

I'm sorry. I know that the words and settings will not be the exact same as the screen shot above, but it is the closest I could get to 6.3.

IKImageView, NSScrollView and Locking the image to the top.

I have an NSScrollView with an IKImageView inside to display images. This seems to work.
However, if I make the window smaller than the image, the scrollbars appear as they should, but the BOTTOM of the image is locked to the bottom of the window, instead of the top of the image being locked to the top of the window. In other words, I want the image to not move on the screen when I re-size the window from the bottom right.
I understand why this is, because in All of these classes, the origin is in the lower left, not the upper left. However, It's still behaving wrong. If you look at any other product (including Preview, which I assume is written with some of these libraries) the image/content/whatever, is locked to the top not the bottom.
How do I do this?
I've looked for methods in the NSScrollView and IKImageView. I've considered capturing the scroller events and manually moving the image down or up as appropriate, but I haven't seen a way to do this (Set the selector to a method I write in the controller?) and anyway, that seems very messy...
Is there an easy way to do this?

Well, I went back in and put your workaround scroller back in and now it seems to be doing what it is supposed to.
One of the things I did a lot with your code was comment out parts. When in doubt, always remove code. Only add new code as a last resort. If you can get it working properly with less code, then you should. I commented out most of the code in that one method where you load the URL and do everything with the imageView and is still worked fine. The only parts you really need are the 3 scrollbar lines. It seems as if the imageview kind of "takes over" the scroll view. But it still has an auto hide but that the scroll view workaround fixes.
Keep the following in mind - IKImageView has obvious bugs with the scrollers. The demo program was written by either the same programmer who wrote IKImageView or maybe even someone more junior. Apple demo code is meant to be an example on how to use APIs. In terms of quality, lots of it is junk. Developer tools just do not get the same level of spit and polish as consumer software.

Pavilion dv4-1275mx notebook - once-flashing leds @ caps lock and scroll keys @ start-up

My HP Pavilion dv4-1275mx notebook runs Windows Vista Home Premium service pack 1 for 64x-based systems.
Recently, when I turn it on, the led lights @ the caps lock and scroll keys repeatedly flash once.
I'm not sure what, if anything, happened prior to this starting. It's possible that there was a power surge when it was shut off, or it may be related to doing a McAfee virus scan or installing the latest version of a software, e.g., Adobe Reader.
I was able to use my System Recovery disks to reinstall the Vista software, thinking this might "kickstart" my computer into working, e.g., as part of the restart process. After the reinstallation, I was able to use my computer, although the led lights continued to flash. However, once I shut down my computer, I have been unable to restart it. The leds continue to flash upon start-up, and I have not been successful in again reinstalling the Vista software. (I thought if could get my computer to work again that way, it might stay accessible if I used hiberate mode instead of shutting it down.)
The computer's about 4-1/2 years old. The screen has a short of some kind (only turning on when the screen is low to the keyboard, so I use an external monitor.
