log4j: Setting property [threshold] to [INFO].Any method by which i can remove these looksups.
I tried Introspector.setBeanInfoSearchPath(new String[0]); in the applet init method but it didnt help.
Any other ideas how to overcome this.

Hello,
I fixed the unnecessary lookup problem by adding the following parameter to my applet tag.
<PARAM name= "codebase_lookup" value= "false"/>This is based on the assumption that since i provide all the required classes on to the client side, it should not lookup on server to find any of them,
since none of them is missing for it proper functioning.
Works with JRE 1.6_05
Thanks,

    Look at this part of the stack trace:
    Caused by: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.It looks like you can't connect to the server.
    Rather than looking at the JSP source, look at the HTML source that your browser is dealing with. My guess is that HTML is wrong, with values that point to a server that doesn't exist, or something. Are you sure you're running this page on an environment that can deal with JSPs? Are you sure that's a valid JSP? Maybe that "strAppServerIPAddress" value isn't expanding.

  • Deploying my first JavaFX file as an Applet not working :o(

    Hi guys,
    basically the issue I am having is that when I run my project in NetBeans with the default setting, it runs fine, however, when I run it as a Applet, it brings up the Java loading spash image, then turns into a grey box.
    I am new to JavaFX, where I work, I have written some code which generates a Gantt chart in SVG. However it has been decided as Adobe SVg is now unsupported and IE doesn't support SVG natively we have to move to an alternative. The code is written in Java to get the various data to render the Gantt chart and having read half a book on JavaFX thought I'd give JavaFX a go to try to see if I can replicate the SVG Gantt.
    So this is HTML file NetBeans generates...
    <html>

    def maxRightScroll = GanttChartConstants.HOVER_BOX_WIDTH + 20;I included that portion as it interacts with other Java code and the examples on the web just dont do this so thought maybe this section might be causing problems for the applet, although in the jnlp file, the includes are there for the refrenced classes. Also as mentioned before, just want to re confirm that this code works fine in default mode, Java Web Start in Netbeans seems to hang although I have no need for it to work with JWS.
    Any ideas what is wrong, I have been googling like mad and just can't find out what is wrong, so any help very much appriacated.
    thanks,
    Dale

    Thanks guys its working now, funnily enough it wasn't a problem with the codebase, although I have changed that afterwards, it was the FX.getArgument bit!
    So its rendering now so im happy, couple of questions more, hop you dont mind...
    javafx(
    archive: "WFMT-JavaFX.jar",
    width: 800,
    height: 500,
    code: "com.btwholesale.wfmt.handlers.gantt.Gannt",
    name: "WFMT-JavaFX"
    1) How do I pass a parameter into this?
    2) Can I specfy an ID of a DIV to load the applet into rather than in just appending to the document? I'm pretty sure I could modify the code to make it do this, but this must be a fairly common thin so I'm guessing tis already done.
    Thanks

  • Applet with class path Problem

    Hi all,
    I am facing a strange problem: I wrote an applet and sign it tomake it able to access some client resources, my applet is intended to play audio mp3 files, so I need some libs like jmf.jar, if my libs do not exist I recieve them from my web app via URLConnection to servlet.
    after libs download completing, I can not instantiate any of libs class because my libs do not exist in the class-path.
    I need any suggestion. what can I do?
    1 - change the class path - during run time - to point to the current libs location.
    or
    2 - load the jar libs manually - during run time - and instantiate my classes.
    or what?
    please include examples.
    Thanks
    Ahmad Elsafty

    PATH and CLASSPATH are different. PATH is an environment variable used by windows to locate programs. CLASSPATH is an environment variable that java uses to find classes.
    You need to create a new environment variable. The easiest way to do it in win2k (and to keep it after you reboot) is to do this: right click on "My Computer" and click "Properties" (or go to "System" in the control panel). Click on the "Advanced" tab. Click the "Enviroment Variables..." button. In that window, add a system variable by clicking "New..." in the bottom half. Variable Name: "CLASSPATH" Variable Value: ".;J:\Skribe\Tools\mysql-connector-java-3.0.0-beta\mysql-connector-java-3.0.0-beta-bin.jar;J:\jakarta-log4j-1.2.6\dist\lib\log4j-1.2.6.jar"
    You have to make sure that ".;" is the first thing on the line. This tells java to look in the current active directory first for classes it doesn't recognize, then in locations you specify. By default, it just looks in the current directory.
    Hope this helps.

    it might provide you with some clues....
    in fact the weblogic.xml of the bea_wls_internal.war contains a reference to java.sun.com
    xmlns:j2ee="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee"
    but I have no clue why it's actually trying all of a sudden to access the resource location indicated by the namespace... XML specifications are also very vague about the schemaLocation clause...
    Sorry for not being able to help more.

  • Why does applet send individual class requests?

    I have a jnlp applet that takes too long to load. It's signed war file is about 16 Mb size. Server access log shows the jar files are loaded successfully, relatively quickly followed by a ton of http GET requests for individual class files. These resource requests are not successful and returns with http response 404 - like the following:
    "GET /examples/lib/org/apache/log4j/Logger.class HTTP/1.1" 404 1069
    Weird thing is, the applet runs fine. above 'missing' resources are referenced and used just fine and there are no 'ClassNotFound' exception anywhere.
    Is this a class loader issue where the browser loader first looks for the class file on server before peering into the jars it has already loaded? or any other thing I am possibly overlooking?
    browser VM: jdk1.6.0_10; server vm: jdk1.6.0_03.
    Appreciate your help.

  • Navigating between applets from the same signed jar (trusted CA) gives err

    See [http://www.chrisnewland.com/java-7-update-21-signedunsigned-error-switching-between-applets-in-the-same-signed-jar-trusted-ca-339] for my investigations so far.
    Clicking a link to navigate between applets contained in the same signed jar (signed by a trusted CA) pops up an error dialog complaining about a signed/unsigned code mix.
    Loading each applet in a fresh browser works fine.
    If you click from applet 1 to applet 2 via a non-applet page then both applets run without problem.
    [EDIT: This is behaviour is new to 7u21]

    I tried that (Adding Trusted-Library true) to the jars and even the 3rd party jars.  I still get the pop up and this error:

  • Log4j.properties ???

    hi,
    I'm currently working with applets and try to call a web service from my applet. I receive this error message :
    log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (org.apache.axis.i18n.ProjectResourceBundle).
    log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.
    Does somebody know where I have to declare this log4j.properties file ? Do I have to configure something by the client ?
    Finally does somebody know if it is possible to call web services from an applet (I mean on the same host) without using signed applets ????

    I believe that the log4j.properties file has to be in
    your classpath.
    and in an applet, this means placing log4j.properties in the root of your applet's JAR file.
    The problem you are going to run into, though, is what you are going to do with the logging information. Unless you sign the applet, you won't be able to write the log to disk... I suppose there might be an appender that could write back to your server (or you could implement one), but I'm not sure that's going to do what you are trying for...

  • Signed applet ad hoc failure

    Hello
    I have an applet that is fully signed and accepted by the client. The client can, through Javascript call some methods but on a critical method that opens a local file dialog box it just stops. Absolutely nothing, not diagnostic, not security, I enabled tracing and logging and nothing. I put in Log4j commands and they just stop. Works on WinXP. I believe it may be a io permission, though never any error.
    If file io permission(a) how to I manually set it for this internal use and (b) how do I set it for distribution to be accepted from the user. Is there some setting in the applet that I must configure to allow the client to accept file open without local explicit machine-by-machine configuration. This is an Intranet app and proof of concept for now. TIA.

    Hi
    Thanks, but that is the problem there is nothing. Below is the code that, perversely, works on WinXPP client/host and fails on W2000 Srv and W2003 Srv client/host with the exact same minimal 6.0.33 JRE and nothing different in the policy files than on the WinXPP. I hope I can stay with this to find out deterministically why as it violates everything I thought I knew and demonstrated empirically.
    public String openFile(boolean development, String param00) {
    File path = new File(param00);
    JFileChooser chooser = new JFileChooser(path);
    ExampleFileFilter filter = new ExampleFileFilter();
    filter.addExtension("csv");
    filter.addExtension("xls");
    filter.addExtension("zip");
    filter.setDescription("CSV & XLS Spreadsheet Files");
    chooser.setFileFilter(filter);
    int returnVal = chooser.showOpenDialog(null);
    if (returnVal == JFileChooser.APPROVE_OPTION) {
    System.out.println("You chose to open this file: " +
    chooser.getSelectedFile().getName());
    return chooser.getSelectedFile().getAbsolutePath();
    }

  • Log applets errors

    Hi
    Is there a way that the errors,who are being thrown at an applet on the internet; being logged at an file on the server
    thx at 4 hand
    Thomas

    And what errors will be logged then? How am I supposed to know?? It's your applet! Read about Log4J a bit: you define what gets logged
    I have a
    ftp-applet so he should log the connection errors and
    so. Is this posible?Absolutely. It won't be automatic, though. You need to write the logging code that does this. It's pretty straightforward, though, and the same code can be used to log to a console, a file, a JMS queue or whichever else you choose. The destination of the logging is configured outside of your code

  • Problem with threads within applet

    Hello,
    I got an applet, inside this applet I have a singleton, inside this singleton I have a thread.
    this thread is running in endless loop.
    he is doing something and go to sleep on and on.
    the problem is,
    when I refresh my IE6 browser I see more than 1 thread.
    for debug matter, I did the following things:
    inside the thread, sysout every time he goes to sleep.
    sysout in the singleton constructor.
    sysout in the singleton destructor.
    the output goes like this:
    when refresh the page, the singleton constructor loading but not every refresh, sometimes I see the constructor output and sometimes I dont.
    The thread inside the singleton is giving me the same output, sometime I see more than one thread at a time and sometimes I dont.
    The destructor never works (no output there).
    I don't understand what is going on.
    someone can please shed some light?
    thanks.
    btw. I am working with JRE 1.1
    this is very old and big applet and I can't convert it to something new.

    Ooops. sorry!
    I did.
         public void start() {
         public void stop() {
         public void destroy() {
              try {
                   resetAll();
                   Configuration.closeConnection();
                   QuoteItem.closeConnection();
              } finally {
                   try {
                        super.finalize();
                   } catch (Throwable e) {
                        e.printStackTrace();

  • Open web pages from an applet

    I'm developing an applet that has to open some web pages.
    The only way I know is to use the method showDocument that
    needs and URL. So, how to pass parameters to the web page?
    I don't want to put them in the URL: everyone can see
    "secret data"!
    Help me, please.

    Take a look at this example that uses a JEditor pane to hold the HTML page.
    //Create a new JEditor Pane
    jep = new JEditorPane( );
    //Ensure the pane is not editable
    jep.setEditable(false);
    //Use this to get local HTML file
    URL fileURL = this.getClass().getResource("Manual/Manual.htm");
    //add the html page to the JEditorPane
    jep.setPage(fileURL);Ok the core line of code here is this.
    URL fileURL = this.getClass().getResource("Manual/Manual.htm");The standard method for accessing a html file via a URL is thus. As you can see its very similar.
    URL fileURL = new URL("http://www.comp.glam.ac.uk/pages/staff/asscott/progranimate/docs/Manual/Manual.htm");this.getClass().getResourse() will return the file location of the class you are working with.
    By doing the following you can access manual.html in a folder called Manual that sits in the same file location as the class file you are using.
    URL fileURL = this.getClass().getResource("Manual/Manual.htm");I hope this helps.
    Andrew.

  • Unable to load database driver from my applet's jar file

    I'm trying to set up an applet that will talk to a MySQL database. I have no problem connecting to the database as I'm developing the code ("un-jarred"), but when I create a jar file of my code to test through a web browser, I cannot connect to the database due to the usual ClassNotFoundException. I have included mysql-connector-java-3.1.12-bin.jar (the current driver) in the jar, but I don't know if I'm supposed to supply some info through an attribute to the applet tag to let it know that the jar contains the driver it needs or if I have to call the driver differently in my code.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

    The simplest approach is always the best. :)Abso-lutely.
    Awesome, that worked perfectly. I Included the extra
    jar file in the applet tag and now my applet makes
    some sweet lovin' to the database.And you have succeeded where thousands have failed. Congratulations.
