Logging into a brand new VM

I have created, deleted and re-created a few VM's but no luck. After the VM is created, I select the VM in the portal and click "Connect". Remote Desktop tries to get to the new machine but fails. The username and password prompt does not appear
and eventually gives up. Any ideas?
Best Regards,
Dave

Hi,
Good to hear that and thanks for sharing.
In general, if you cannot RDP into all new Azure VMs, it would be due to your local network blocks the RDP connections. You can check the public port of the endpoint for RDP and open that port in your local network.
Best regards,
Susie

Since you don't really have a question, I will give you a very broad information source for the next time you have a Time Machine question.
Please visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine.
Oh, you cannot use a computer whose only disk drive is the target of a an OS X cloning operation regardless of what software is used for the clone. You can, however, use the source drive except if you try to clone using Disk Utility.

  • After updating to 10.7.4 on my imac it booted into a brand new user like i had switched it on for the first time.

    Hello all!
Im logging in with the same credentials that i used literally 15 minutes before the update.
Its really odd. it will not log into my desktop. its a totally new user but using my credentials so all my settings are fresh.
does anyone know a way of getting my machine back to its previous state? i dont use time machine (not sure that would help anyway)
We log into a server here at work which gives us access to the internet and other servers for files etc. But our programs/details are kept locally. like i say the user folder still exists but i cannot log into it as the credentials open up a new user. There are no other credentials to log in with either.
    baffling!
Hope someone has had this problem and managed to sort something out.
    Regards
    Chris

well me and my collegue fixed this. It had renamed the user folder to 'imac' i simply changed the user folder that i originally logged into back to its original name and its now fixed and letting me log back into my proper desktop.

  • HT204053 Trouble logging into iTunes with new AppleID account

When I try to log in to my new appleID account, it takes me to a page that says "Item Not Available". It tells me to make sure my computer's date is set correctly, and that it accepts cookies from the iTunes Music Store. Then it has a link to this page: http://www.apple.com/support/?artnum=93440 where I can find absolutely nothing related to doing either. Help, please?

    Hey there writespinner!
I have a couple of articles that should help you troubleshoot this issue. First is an article helping you troubleshoot your connection to the iTunes Store, and it can be found here:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store

  • HT5622 I used my Apple ID to log into my cousins new iPod. Now all of his contet (mainly photos) keeps re-appearing on my other devices. Help!!

Like all of his photos in his photo stream sync to my ipad and it's real irritating. Is there anyway to remove his device from my iCloud? What if I make him a new Apple ID to sign into? Would that solve the problem? And if I have to restore his iPod, where can I save his photo's too.

I'm sure that we're not alone on this issue. It just makes no sense why apple would do this. I suppose this is only due to the fact that iTunes has been out far longer than the newer iCloud implementation. Kind of like putting the cart before the horse. Now it seems as the apple has to work backwards to try and get its existing and potential customer base to start switching over to their unique email system. I wish they would hurry up for simplicity sake.

  • I can't plug (click) fully my headphones into my brand new 7th gen. apple iPod

    I don't know way?

Get a flashlight and magnifying glass and check for dirt/debris/obstructions and clean as necessary. The jack is very tight when new.

  • I cannot log into my MacBook Pro

I cannot log into my brand new MacBook Pro. After entering my password, it just sat greyed out. Then I tried switching over to the guest login, hoping to jar it into responding and now it's stuck on guest login with a spinning icon.
Any ideas on how to reset it?
    Thanks!

Okay; silly me. I had held down the power button but apparently not long enough. It powered down and then I was able to get a proper log in screen when I powered up again. All is well...

  • How can I move information from one icloud account to a brand new one?

I've shared an icloud account with my sister for years and I want to get one with just my information. However, I'm not sure how to move or copy all of my information from my old icloud account into a brand new one and not lose any. Making a brand new one for my sister and keeping the old one isn't an option because she doesn't want to lose anything either. Help???

To migrate to a new account, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to iCloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.

  • My iMac thinks my brand new iPod is out of date!

HI - on my new imac, i have transfered my old itunes library via a portable hard drive. This went fine, with all my tunes now appearing on the new i.mac. To play them i was prompted to enter my old apple id (FROM 2002) that i set up with my old nano years ago.
Now, when i plug in the brand new i5.1 IPOD TOUCH which was bought with the imac last week, it says to me - "you need to update your itunes to 5" - yet its already 10!
I think it sees the new ipod as the old ipod - and i cant sync it - it just dosnt give mne the option.
I have registered my new id on all the devices / computers - the old one cant be entered asits not an email address

Thanks - I know, thats why I decided to get all upgraded. Its just that now that I have put my old library on the NEW i.mac, the NEW ipod touch isnt properly recognised. Like I said initially - now when I plug in the BRAND NEW IPOD TOUCH into the BRAND NEW IMAC, the imac tells me I need i,tunes 5 and to download it from the store - YET it already have itunes 10
gosh this is complicated isnt it?
anyone else got similar experience and solved it?

  • Brand New Mini / Brand New LCD Projector

Just bought a Mac Mini 1.42 GHz with the 80 GB hard drive and the Combo drive. I just opened the box and plugged it into my brand new Panasonic PT-900U LCD projector and nothing. No video. Nothing at all.
It seems many people are having video problems with the mini. What's the deal? Will this mini work with my brand new projector? My PowerBook works instanly with the projector. I don't have a monitor to test the mini with at all. I have no way of knowing if the mini is even booting as I can't see a thing.
Can I hook the mini to my PowerBook? HELP!!!

    Snap-
Can you also plug something else, like a computer, into the projector and verify that it is working? And if you had another monitor to plug into the mini I would try that as well.
I do not know what your trouble shooting expertise is, so please excuse me if you have tried that already. But it would help to narrow things down to the actual culprit.

  • Pasting Text into PM7 from New Microsoft Word

I recently got a brand new compyer, so it has the latest version of Word. I write ad copy all day long and have always typed the copy into Word (or pasted from our online catalog into Word), formatted it the way I need it, and then copied and pasted that into PM.
Now when I try it, the formatting doesn't come across properly. The margins, fonts, and/or spacing will be different. This has proven to be much quicker for me than to actualy "place" the text. I paste about 75+ ads a day into PM.
    Any ideas?!
    Thank you!

Firstly, PM7 is VERY old, and there's no way it's going to recognise files of the *.docx format. Word 2003 won't even do that without a converter.
Secondly, from the old PM FAQs:
    Edited: 28-Oct-2004 at 03:07am
It is well known that copy/pasting Word docs directly into PM will cause problems, particularly when style names clash. You can only 'import' the text from a Word document - no graphics, no backgrounds.
To get the graphics from the Word document into PM:
If you have a graphic in a Word document you want to put into your PM doc, and depending on whether it is a vector (e.g. WMF) or raster (e.g. JPG) export it from Corel Draw as an EPS or TIFF respectively. This method will retain all the pixel data that was in the original graphic, where pasting into Photoshop/Illustrator or PM itself will not.
To get the text from the Word document:
    1. Save it as a TXT file, then place it into PM. Unlink the TXT file from the PM doc via the Links Manager.
    2. Save the text from Word as rich text format (.RTF) then use File>Place to get it into PM. Make sure you immediately delete the link to the Word doc in the Links Manager, otherwise problems next time you open the PM file as it will look for that RTF file - bad news if you have made changes to the text in PM.
Note: Saving in RTF or TXT formats strips out the Word styles. The former however retains all bolding and italicising, the latter does not.
    3. Copy and paste the text into a brand new PM doc, highlight all the text and on the Styles palette, click on the [No Style] option. Then recopy the text and paste it into your existing PM doc and apply PMs styles. (Don't save the PM doc where you applied the [No Styles]). Remember, it is far better to apply styles using PM than to bring in Word styles.
    4. When you are in the "Place" dialogue box, try checking "read tags." This will prevent the Word document from importing its own styles into your document.

  • Wires from exchange to brand new estate

Ok so basically my family have just moved into a brand new house on a brand new estate of 18 houses. The houses are all complete and the builders say all the correct wires are in place for us to use Internet. However they say that the wires coming into the estate are not complete and BT need to do this. None of the 18 houses can get the Internet or a landline.
We and others from the estate have called the BT helplines asking what can be done and all we are told is that the work is happening soon. We have been given date after date since January 11th when we moved in. Our neighbours have been asking since November. We are actually paying for line rental even though we are not receiving anything. However we are being refunded.
What I want to know is there anything I can do to find out when the work will be done for definite or wether it will be done at all. I also would like to know of we can cancel our agreement with no cost since we are not receiving the product we are paying for.
Thanks in advance for any help.

All cabling is done by OpenReach unfortunately and BT have little control over when it gets done. They can give an estimate date but this will be subject to factors out of their control.
I presume the correct wires in place refers to your internal wiring only.  The wires coming into the estate should have been dealt with as part of the infrastructure (gas, elec and water)  ie the builders should have been liaising with OpenReach whilst the houses were being built and in a way they should give an explanation as to why this didn't happen.
The work should be done but the buck may be passed from pillar to post and it's unlikely you'll get any definitive dates.
As you have not received any services then you should be able to cancel at no cost owing to BT's non performance under the contract.
Your best bet to get anywhere may be to contact the Forum Mods using this link  https://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951

  • Brand new to Mac, does TM backup all users files, even when not logged on?

Hi Im brand new to Mac so please be gentle with me!!
Im about to use TM for backup, I have an account and have made one for my wife, as we both have an iPod and so Ive herd its easier to use 2 accounts.
She wont be logged on much, so if when Im logged on does TM backup the whole HDD, rather than just the user that is logged on?
if not how does it work to backup everything? do you have to keep logging on?
    cheers

I have no idea what question the Apple person THOUGHT he was answering, but Time Machine backs up changes for everything in /Users (i.e., for all accounts) whether or not an account happens to be logged in at the moment. Just tested and confirmed.
    THE TEST:
My Powerbook has an Admin account a Standard account and the Leopard Guest account.
I Restarted the machine, logged in as the Admin account, and turned off System Preferences / Time Machine. I then created a Text Edit file on the Desktop.
In Time Machine I verified that this file was visible in the current view of the Desktop but not in the immediately prior backup.
I then logged out of the Admin account and logged in as the Standard account.
I turned on System Preferences / Time Machine and did a Back Up Now. I then turned off System Preferences / Time Machine again to insure no further backups might happen.
Of course the Standard account can't see into the Time Machine backups of the folders from the Admin account, so I logged out of the Standard account and logged in again as Admin.
Looking in Time Machine, I now see the Text Edit file both in the current view of the Desktop and in the backup just completed by the Standard account.
I turned System Preferences / Time Machine back on, and deleted the test file. Looking again in Time Machine, the test file is no longer in the current view of the Desktop, it IS in the immediately preceding backup (the one that the Standard account initiated), and is not in the backup prior to that.
    END OF TEST
This makes perfect sense since the file system event logs don't care whether a user is still logged in. Nor would a Deep Traversal backup care.

Now I know I entered the correct username and password cause I was able to log into here with the same info. Anyone have any clue on how to fix this?
