Wires from exchange to brand new estate

Ok so basically my family have just moved into a brand new house on a brand new estate of 18 houses. The houses are all complete and the builders say all the correct wires are in place for us to use Internet. However they say that the wires coming into the estate are not complete and BT need to do this. None of the 18 houses can get the Internet or a landline.
We and others from the estate have called the BT helplines asking what can be done and all we are told is that the work is happening soon. We have been given date after date since January 11th when we moved in. Our neighbours have been asking since November. We are actually paying for line rental even though we are not receiving anything. However we are being refunded.
What I want to know is there anything I can do to find out when the work will be done for definite or wether it will be done at all. I also would like to know of we can cancel our agreement with no cost since we are not receiving the product we are paying for.
Thanks in advance for any help.

All cabling is done by OpenReach unfortunately and BT have little control over when it gets done. They can give an estimate date but this will be subject to factors out of their control.
I presume the correct wires in place refers to your internal wiring only.  The wires coming into the estate should have been dealt with as part of the infrastructure (gas, elec and water)  ie the builders should have been liaising with OpenReach whilst the houses were being built and in a way they should give an explanation as to why this didn't happen.
The work should be done but the buck may be passed from pillar to post and it's unlikely you'll get any definitive dates.
As you have not received any services then you should be able to cancel at no cost owing to BT's non performance under the contract.
Your best bet to get anywhere may be to contact the Forum Mods using this link  https://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951

  • Exchange a brand new computer because of the keyboard layout ?

    Hi !
I'm currently in Finland for work, and I bought a Macbook Air, it's brand new so.
    But I didn't thought of the keyboard layout, which is of course Finnish;
    Do you think I can exchange this MBA with a one with the correct layout back in my country;
Or is it better to return this MBA here, and buy a new one once I'm home ?
I'd like to be able to return or exchange the MBA in my country, is the refund/exchange policy international ?
    Thanks

The European law state you have anyway a 7 day open box return policy for this kind of product, I think I'll go to the store and ask if they can exchange it for one with international/US keyboard or give me a refund if they havn't got one.
I got a callback appointement with Apple Support France tomorrow (my country) to ask them if it's possible to use the warranty to exchange layout. But as you said, I don't think it's possible since the keyboard is working perfectly fine..

  • Can't print from iPad to brand new Photosmart Prem eAIO C310 - says "No AirPrint Printers Found"

I spent 70 mins on the phone with Apple.  They couldn't get it to work.  Have ios 5 on the iPad and have reset it to brand new settings twice.  Have both the ipad and the printer sitting within 3 feet of the router.
The printer  works seamlessly with a laptop using Vista and another laptop using Windows 7.
It is only with the iPad that it won't work - and that is the only reason I bought this printer, so I could print from the iPad.
I have followed 5 of the 6 steps in order on the "The Printer is not Found,' 'No Printers Found,' or 'Printer is Offline' Message Displays on the iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch" HP help document.
The only thing I haven't done is verify that my router can forward Bonjour packets. (we are doing that right now)
The bluetooth setting on the iPad is off.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello suesheldon,
I’m sorry to hear that you are having and issue but here are a few questions/suggestions:
Does the printer have the most current updates
Have you ever been able to print from your iPhone before?
Try a AdHoc Connection Test.  This connect the Ipad to the printer bypassing the router.
Start by restoring network defaults on the printer-go to setup-wireless-restore network defaults-yes
Once defaults have been restored turn on the wireless connection on the printer. -  do NOT connect it to your wireless network at this time.
On you Ipad got to Settings-Wifi-Choose a network-  look for the network that starts with HPC310 and select it.
Wait about 3 minutes to make sure the ad hoc connection is established.
Once this is done try to print.  If it prints, then the issues is most likely in the router.
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own opinion and not those of HP.

  • SBS2008: Move email from Exchange 2007 to new server with Exchange 2013

We have an old server (SBS2008) and plan to buy a new server with (Server 2012). I need to move all the exchange emails, contacts & calendars to the new server. We will no longer use the old server.
Is there a document or migration tool that will help me understand how to move this data form the old exchange server to the new one?
    Old Server:
    SBS2008 running Exchange 2007
    New Server:
    Server 2012
    Exchange 2013
    Any help is appreciated!

    Hi Dave,
It can be done, and as Larry suggested you will consider two Server 2012 installs in order to achieve an environment that looks like your current SBS roles; Exchange 2013 on an Active Directory controller isn't a good long-term solution (SBS did this for
    you in the past).
For your size operation, a virtual server host, with a Windows Server 2012 license, and two virtual machines would probably be a suitable design model.  In this manner, you have Server 2012 license that permits 1 +2 licenses (one host for virtualization,
up to 2 Virtual Machines on same host).
There's no migration tool. That comes with experience and usually trial and error. You earn the skills in this migration path, and for the average SBS support person you should plan on spending 3x (or more) your efforts estimate in hours planning your migration.
You can find a recommended migration path at this link to give you an idea of the steps, but its not exactly point by point going to cover you off for an sbs2008 to server 2012 w/exchange 2013 migration.  But the high points are in here. If it looks
like something you would be comfortable with then you should research more.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/infratalks/archive/2012/09/07/transition-from-small-business-server-to-standard-windows-server.aspx
Specific around integrating Exchange 2013 into an Exchange 2007 environment, guidance for that can be found here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj898582(v=exchg.150).aspx
If that looks like something beyond your comfort level, then you might consider building a new 2012 server with Exchange 2013 environment out as new, manually export your exchange 2007 mailbox contents (to PST) and then import them into the new mail server,
and migrate your workstations out of old domain into new domain.  Whether this is more or less work at your workstation count is dependent upon a lot of variables.
If you have more questions about the process, update the thread and we'll try to assist.
Hopefully this info answered your original question.
    Cheers,

  • Can I exchange my brand new not open iPad 16 GB wifi  with new IPhone

Hi can I exchange iPad with iPhone

Do you have or can you get the original receipt and was it bought at an Apple store? If either is the case, as Phil 0124 pointed out and because it's within the return time, by all means return it and get a credit.
Wait until the new phones go on sale and then buy it. If you go for the less expensive iphone 5c, you might also use the credit (if it was directly bought at Apple,) and replace the ipad 2 you won with an ipad 2 from the Apple online refurb store at a greatly reduced price. And then you'll have both. Also, as an aside, if you already have an older iphone, Apple is supposedly giving very good discounts as you can trade it in and get your iphone at a reduced price.
Most importantly, return that ipad asap in person and if you can't, make sure it's postmarked by (or before the 12th.)
    Hope this helps.

  • Burn a dvd from iMovie on brand new 2014 imac

I just became an imac user after 29 years of owning pc's. I record video for school functions and have always used ADOBE Premiere to produce and author dvd's. I made the jump to an imac after windows xp was no longer supported, adobe is going to cloud subscriptions and after hearing how much easier working with video was with an imac. Well.....you know what's coming....and why I took the time to jump into a forum: I figured out iMovie very quickly and transcoding to an mp4. I have a Superdrive because I was told it can read and burn dvd's and mayb even blue ray. But holy cow....is there truly no way to make a dvd from iMovie?! Really?! Or from that matter to burn a dvd from this imac? I have gone nearly blind reading through the communities and forums. I have made 3 dvd's that won't play in a Sony dvd player that plays everything I can throw at it except the dvd's from this imac. Good thing I still have my PC, maybe I should just get Windows 8 and bite the Adobe bullet. Any other suggestions? I am more saavy than the average user, which always heightens the frustration level when a simple task takes all day to reach no appropriate resolution. I don't need a lot of detail, just tell me where I made the wrong turn.
P.S. I just went to the "tags" to post this....and funny thing....there must be 50 dvd tags, but none even resembling dvd burning or dvd authoring. Is there somthing going on that I need to know about....with dvd burning on imacs or Apple in general?

    Hi Carolyn!
That iMovie user guide you linked to is the old one for iMovie HD (5 or 6)!

  • + 2 hour upgrade to Leopard from Tiger on Brand New imac 20"

Forgive my upcoming ignorance as this is my first Apple Computer and I know very little about Apple overall but I know a LOT about PCs and Windows.
I just purchased an imac, 20" Intel 2ghz Core Duo, LAST NIGHT.
From out of the box, to plugging in the computer and peripherals, to getting into Tiger for the first time and putting in the Leopard upgrade disk.
Is 2+ hours normal to do this upgrade.. this upgrade took FOREVER. I've installed many operating systems on PCs, mind you I'm installing Windows but it's never taken me 2+ hours to install an Upgrade to an OS on a reasonably fast machine. I've installed / upgraded linux in less time.
I can't believe this is normal and have some concern as to there being an Issue with the Combo Drive or something else?
There's no lights to indicate disk activity or anything during the installation, this is something I'm quite used to in the PC world, to be able to tell if the computer is accessing the Hard Drive or the CD/DVD drive with little lights or even noise. The only noise I heard was scattered disk noises and a random spin up of the CD Drive every so often.
The only visual indicator on the screen was the progress bar during the installation with a Time indicator that seemed to be having as much difficulty as I was in figuring how long this should take. Frequently it would jump from 1 hour 40 minutes to as much as 2 hours and 50 minutes estimating installation time.
Any experts here have any insight on this? Is this normal? Am I missing something here... I would hate to endure another upgrade or install that will be this painful in the future.
Thanks for your input and time on this!

    Promomag wrote:
Ah yes, I remember 95, infact, I did install this version from floppy, it was 27 floppies if I remember correctly.... at least I was doing something if it took just as long, so I don't think that install was as agonizing as this. Thanks for the memories.
C'mon though... what's up with not having any indication that the computer is doing anything at all while it's installing.... Couldn't apple make the little Apple logo on the front blink or something when there's disk activity. Seriously, I like that the Mac is quiet, but I don't like having to put my ear to the side of the case to hear if it's doing anything. If I hear the cd whiring or the disk crunching I have a good indication there's activity but through this whole process the CD only spun up in short spurts every so often.
I was wondering if this install was recompiling kernals or doing something ... the time indicator bar as my only means to an estimated guage is very silly to me!
I thought about that when I installed and even posted about those seemingly long times when nothing seems to be happening and cautioned the rush-hour crowd to be patient.
I think I have an answer, but it may be stretching things: many Mac users, I have noticed don't like things like desktop items, even if it's only one or two. One did not even like the Dock and wanted it gone - not hidden as most of us set it, but gone. Finito! And for years there were only one-button mice available and no BSD under the hood. So I think this lack of information is only annoying to people like me who came recently from the PC world (and am still in it) but the Macophiles probably like those blank information-less screens. I do recall once that Apple ran an ad saying "Who cares about MHz, GHz GBs and such - it's the color (flavor?) that counts. Fortunately, Apple has come a long way from then and attracted people like myself who do care about what is under the hood.
I suspect as more and more get involved in the BSD stuff and X11 and such, that these indicators will become more prevalent. At least I hope so.
An obvious bug when using DU, in 10.5.1, however, is that when doing a verify, my odometer says 1 minute left for about 5 minutes and then backs up and says 13 minutes left and drops about 1 minute every few seconds. In 10.5.0 the barber pole spun for a long time with no information.
Still, these are reasonably minor glitches and certainly not show-stoppers.
All-in-all, I look at Leopard as a distinct improvement over Tiger in almost every area. I miss Sherlock - which is why I keep my bootable Tiger clones up-to-date and working properly.
Interestingly, I have 3 Macs and 2 PCs and 5 Windows programs running on them.
Contrary to what others say about Vista, I find it running quite boringly well on this MBP. It's the 64-bit version and I did have to find the network drivers on my own.

  • Will verizon let me exchange this brand new phone?

I went looking instore at phones, and decided on the Blackberry Curve 3g, I ordered online to get the instant rebate but realized the only had pink online, will verizon let me bring it into store while its brandnew and unactivated and exchange it for a grey?

You will be able to exchange the phone once within the first 30 days under the Worry Free Gaurentee, but I believe that online orders have to be exchanged by calling into telesales and mailing it directly back.  Basically, you have to return it the way you got it.

I've used a uk iPad in Italy with just an adapter for the UK charger and it charged quite happily.
Mains voltage in Italy is 220/240 and I think Germany is similar so a basic pin adapter should work.
What has that got to do with the OP wanting to exchange a brand new iPad from the UK in Germany for a larger capacity model in an Apple Store

he/she told me in case happen again, hole the volume down button+power button+plug USB to the PC. then the phone will like refresh its system.
On 7 March 2013, the phone happened again bout the shut down problem. then i just follow what i learn from the nokia care centre to solve it.
On 9 march 2013, the FACEBOOK and CAMERA apps was Unable to open. just like u click it, it PoP out again to the main screen. even i restart phone, Factory reset, still remain the same problem.
On 10march 2013 i bring to Nokia Care again, and them just received my phone and send to repair.

I have faced the same case. After 2 days i bought the Nokia Lumia 920, the phone suddenly shut down itself and unable to switch it on.
Next day i bring it to Nokia Store, the person who incharge help me switch on back my phone without confirmed what's the actual problem. The person asks me to go to Care Centre and i did not go because i think it is recover.
However, after 2 days, same case happen and i found this comment. Im wondering do I need to send my phone to Care Centre to repair as there are many problems occur after sending to repair. May I know what is the main reason cause the problem? (Make me disappointed on Nokia phone)

  • Brand new iMac has hundreds of vertical lines on screen...?

I know from flipping thru the archives this is a common issue, but usually on older models - I just purchased and turned on my iMac for the first time today, and it worked fine for a couple hours before randomly acquiring a complete screenful of flickering, multicolored, vertical lines. I'm performing a hardware test as we speak (I'm posting from my four year old iBook, which ironically still works) but pending those results, what can I do? Am I going to have to exchange this brand new computer for a NEW new one?

I bought mine last week and it works flawlessly. If I were you I would not bother with any diagnostic tests and just return it to the store and get a brand new NEW iMac since you just purchased it today. If you bought it online then there's little bit more hassle that you have to go through but even if you can get the problem all fixed by yourself, I would just return it to apple. Good luck.

  • I need to reset my Ipad 4 32GB to Brand New IOS Software.

I need to rest my Ipad 4 32GB to Brand New IOS Software like it came from the Apple Brand New?
Is there a way to do a Hard Reset of the software and reinstall it Fresh Brand New?
Want to Start New right out of the Box Like I just brought it.

    Thanks again.

Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. That will return it to out of the box condition and you will have to start all over again.

  • Brand new 13" rMBP (mid-2014) doesn't wake from sleep after a few hours

    Hi,
I have brand new, mostly untouched, 13" rMBP running Mavericks (10.9.4) that crashes during sleep. If I close the lid and leave it for more than a few hours, I have to do a force shut down by holding the power button for a few seconds and turn it back on again.
I've already followed the advice of this article: OS X: When your Mac doesn't sleep or wake and have called Apple Support, who did nothing but read the article to me.
    I have:
    - reset the System Management Controller
    - restored all defaults in Energy Saver preferences
    - booted into Safe Mode to verify disk (unsure of whether or not this was effective at all)
In my Console, I am getting a line that says "com.apple.message.signature: Platform Failure"
According to this other thread - MB can't wake up from sleep anymore - it seems like it might be a hardware failure. Can anyone confirm this and/or advise on possible next steps?
    Thanks.

If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.
