Please help me as i'm a beginer in oracle domaine
Thank you all

In Oracle 9i there are no default password for sys/system. You will force to define a password for these account while installing from Oracle Universal Installer. If you don't know the password, you can log in through Oracle 9i without password in SYS schema. To do this, log in to OS where database is installed using OS username (which belong to DBA group). Start sqlplus with " / as sysdba" option. Then you will log in as SYS schema and you can change password for sys/system.
Note: if you use win2k. Set properties of SQLPlus icon and then set target as "C:\oracle\ora9i\bin\sqlplusw.exe /nolog" (replace path name with your oracle path). Then start SQLPlus. This will start SQLPlus with no log in and the use " connect / as sysdba".

  • I cannot log into oracle using the user scott

I installed oracle, but I did not go through the underlined step. I am not sure if I skipped or it was not there during the installation
The Database Configuration Assistant will provide installation summary
and list the accounts that are unlocked. It will ask you for password management. Sys
and System accounts would be already unlocked.  Unlock HR and Scott accounts,
and for these two accounts also specify the same password that you had given before.
When I test logging into Oracle using the user Scott, it shuts down.
    I am using windows 7, and I installed Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0)
Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
How can I log into oracle using the user Scott?

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum,
After installing Oracle 10g SCOTT user will be in locked, you should unlock it.
Login as sysdba using the below command
    sqlplus sys as sysdba
    password:<ur password>
after connecting as sysdba use the below command to unlock the SCOTT user
    ALTER USER SCOTT ACCOUNT UNLOCK;
Now connect as scott you will bw able to connect.

I am receiving an error message when I try to log into Oracle Directory Manager. This is the first time I am trying to log in, I am trying to login with the username cn=orcladmin, and with the password welcome, which is the default. I then receive the error message "Server is not up and running". I thought I started an OID instance with oidctl.
    I am running on w2k.
I am using the default port 389, at least thats what I accepted while installing the infrastructre.
    Any advise?

    Thanks for your reply Mylenium.
OK, now I can log into my Adobe (website) account and see my purchases, serial numbers, etc. .... AND ..... I am now able to log into my Applications Manager!!
I did not do anything different from the other past few days; didn't load or download any software, nothing. Strange, but I'm glad it's back to normal now.
Figures; when I go and seek out assistance ... it fixes itself.
Thanks again ... and I hope this does not re-occur!!

  • Cannot log into Oracle over WAN between different Domains

Essentially, the Oracle database server (serverA) resides in the domain remote.xxx.net which is part of the Remote (German) forest. We have our own domain, which is not currently part of the Remote forest, thus there is no transient trust between the two domains. When the client logs into our domain here (i.e. behind the ISA firewall), and starts Pro/I, the Oracle client seem to automatically forward authentication requests to our LOCAL domain controllers, and NOT the authenticating domain server serverA. As the user does not exist in our domain, the authentication fails.
So, this would indicate we have to somehow configure the Oracle client to force it to authenticate against a nominated domain (remote) and not against the domain the client is logged into, if this is possible. Again, my Oracle experience is limited, so we will investigate further, but if anyone has any other ideas, we're open to trying them.

    Michael

  • How to Disable the ability for a sys admin to log into Oracle?

    Hello -
I want to put security in place so the SA will not be able to log in at all to Oracle. How can I do that? The SA can su over to any user. Would I have to use a password file, and only have specific users in the database has sysdba authority?
    Many Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Basically, there is no way to do that.
However, there is a kind of "workaround" to do that. Take a look at metalink note 50507.1in the section called: Disabling Operating System Authentication
It is not a "nice" solution, but should work.

  • Problem logging into Oracle Designer 10G

    Hello developers,
I've downloaded and installed Oracle Designer 10G on my computer. I've installed it using the installation wizard. I wanted to login. I have my username and password but not the connect string. I don't know what my connect string is now.
During the installation, I've encountered such a message:
Oracle Designer and Oracle8i client import and export tools need to be installed into different Oracle homes. You can use the LOCAL and TNS_ADMIN registry variables(set under both Oracle Homes in the registry) to save having to maintain multiple copies of your TNSNAMES.ORA file. Please enter any information you wish to be set and click OK to continue."
So under this message, a default entry of "C:\orant\net80\admin" appears whilst for field Local, I've entered "orahome" which I assume to be my database alias.
Later on, I found out about 10G so I removed the copy of 6i I've installed using Universal Installer and proceeded to download and install 10G. Now the error message Im getting when I tried to login without giving a connect string is that "The user does not have an installed Repository. Invoke the Repository Administrator Utility. " So from the start menu, I choose Repository Administration Utility but nothing happened.
Could anyone that have experience with this installation let me know what should I do? Im really looking forward to using 10G Designer. If this is not solved, then I'll resort back to using 6i. Maybe from there things are easier. Thanks in advance.

After some heavy googling the problem is solved.

  • Logging into ORACLE 9I using SQL*PLUS.TNS Error

I have installed Oracle 9i for windows and am trying to login using SQL*PLUS
    user: system
    pwd: manager
    Host String: BHURU
It says TNS could resolve service name.
I have all the services running in the admin monitor.
Am I missing something? Please advise.

Can you post your tnsnames.ora file contents and listener.ora contents here?
There may be tons of things wrong with the error actually,
ORA-12154:     TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Cause:     A connection to a database or other service was requested using a connect identifier, and the connect identifier specified could not be resolved into a connect descriptor using one of the naming methods configured. For example, if the type of connect identifier used was a net service name then the net service name could not be found in a naming method repository, or the repository could not be located or reached.
    Action:
    - If you are using local naming (TNSNAMES.ORA file):
    - Make sure that "TNSNAMES" is listed as one of the values of the NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH parameter in the Oracle Net profile (SQLNET.ORA)
    - Verify that a TNSNAMES.ORA file exists and is in the proper directory and is accessible.
    - Check that the net service name used as the connect identifier exists in the TNSNAMES.ORA file.
    - Make sure there are no syntax errors anywhere in the TNSNAMES.ORA file. Look for unmatched parentheses or stray characters. Errors in a TNSNAMES.ORA file may make it unusable.
    - If you are using directory naming:
    - Verify that "LDAP" is listed as one of the values of the NAMES.DIRETORY_PATH parameter in the Oracle Net profile (SQLNET.ORA).
    - Verify that the LDAP directory server is up and that it is accessible.
    - Verify that the net service name or database name used as the connect identifier is configured in the directory.
    - Verify that the default context being used is correct by specifying a fully qualified net service name or a full LDAP DN as the connect identifier
    - If you are using easy connect naming:
    - Verify that "EZCONNECT" is listed as one of the values of the NAMES.DIRETORY_PATH parameter in the Oracle Net profile (SQLNET.ORA).
    - Make sure the host, port and service name specified are correct.
    - Try enclosing the connect identifier in quote marks. See the Oracle Net Services Administrators Guide or the Oracle operating system specific guide for more information on naming.

  • Problems Logging Into OTN/My Oracle Support

Yesterday everything was fine.  Today when I log in with my preferred account through my company I am unable to log in but used an old personal account to get in.  I am also unable to log into My Oracle Support with my company account.  Since I can't get into support, how do I get someone to assist me with my problem.  I requested a password reset hours ago and have not received an email yet.  I do not have access to my personal email associated with this account at work.

Per a rep from MOSC -
"[You] either need to contact the HUB or need to raise a non-technical SR. Usually in this case it’s one of two issues, their support contract has expired and the customer has not renewed it yet or the administrator doesn’t have this person set up for access. (The administrator would be the customer user responsible for controlling access on the customer side to support services)."

  • I cannot log into the oracle account using GNOME interface

I'm receiving the following message when trying to log into the oracle OS account with the GNOME interface turned on:
GDM could not write to your authorization file. This could mean that you are out of disk space or that your home directory could not be opened for writing. In any case, it is not possible to log in. Please contact your system administrator.
I can successfully ssh into the oracle account via a terminal window session.
df -h on the host does not show a problem with disk space:

Some searching on the internet indicated that the .Xauthority file was the problem.
I noticed that there was no .Xauthority file in the /home/oracle directory. I logged into the oracle OS account via a terminal session and issued the command mkxauth -c. This created an .Xauthority file in my /home/oracle directory. The file has the following permissions which look like they match other hosts we have the Oracle Database running on:
    -rw------- 1 oracle oinstall 265 2011-03-08 13:32 /home/oracle/.Xauthority
    Any heal is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies. I obviously had something screwed up in my environment in terms of file permissions.
I decided that since I am new to Oracle VM and management of the Oracle Enterprise Linux VM templates, and that this was a new instance of the OEL5 template installation, I would start over. So I unzipped the OEL5 template, copied over my vm.cfg file which configures the template instance and brought up a new copy of the OEL5 VM instance. I then logged into it as root, changed the oracle account password and started the GNOME interface with telinit 5 command.
I was then able to log in successfully to the oracle account via the GNOME interface.
    Thanks for the replies.
