Logging issue with rssutils.tld Tag Library

I'm using the rssutils.tld tag library to display three RSS feeds on my application's JSP homepage. It works very very well and I'm quite happy with the results (I'm running on a Tomcat 5.5.7 server). I implemented the solution following the examples in the tutorial at http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/javaserverpages/rss_utilities
The only problem I'm having though is in my Tomcat logs. Whenever a user loads my home page, a ton of tags are written to my tomcat stdout log:
<rss>
<channel>
<title>
</title>
<link>
</link>
<description>
</description>
<language>
</language>
<copyright>
</copyright>
and so on for several hundred lines. This not only fills up my logs very very quickly, I'm worried about performance. Has anyone run into this problem and, if so, have a suggestion on how to have the tag library only log errors instead of every tag it processes? Thanks in advance.

There are 2 System.out's in com/sun/cnpi/rss/handlers/DocumentHandler.class For test purposes I commented these out and it resolved the issue. I think the license allows modifications and redistribution as long as the copyright notice is included but I am no expert on legal stuff. If someone can assist me with this I would be happy to provide the modified package.

  • Issues with using my iPhoto library on my external hard drive.  Very slow to open and pictures disappear in thumbnail view.

    I have recently transferred my iPhoto Library to my external hard drive (WD MyBook Live) and have some questions.  Since I have done this and used the "alt + option" to select it as my default library I have been having some issues.  When using the library on the external drive as my default drive it takes a very long time to load compared to when it was on my macbook's hard drive. Is this normal?  Also, once it does load the thumbnails are only viewable when scrolling quickly through the photos and they are very blurry.  However, if I were to select one randomly (because of this problem I have no way of knowing which one I'm selecting) it brings it up in the edit view and it is a crystal clear picture.
    Is there a way to fix these issues?  I'd love to be able to use the iPhoto Library off the external drive to free up space on my macbook but if it isn't going to work as streamlined as it would on my macbook hard drive.  I have not yet deleted the original iPhoto Library from my macbook because I did not want to do so until I knew the new iPhoto library on the external drive was working properly.  Does this make a difference?
    Please help!

    The problem lies with occasional dropouts that can corrupt the library's database files if they are being written to as the time of dropout.  It's the nature of wireless networks.  If you have a very strong signal throughout and are willing to take a chance then go for it.
    But as for the speed, it must be iPhoto 11 and it's complexity causing the slowness. I had tried using a library on an EHD connected to my iMac from my laptop wirelessly with iPhoto 7 or 8 and it was pretty fast.  I think it was 7 before faces and places came into being.
    Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html to improve wireless performance, etc.

  • Issue with project having Tag File containing definition of other Tag File

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a small problem which you experts are able to help with.
    As the subject of this Post has suggested, I have a project which was originally built in NetBean 6.0 and I'm trying to migrate it across to JDeveloper 10.1.3. So far, I've managed to compiled all jsps and java source files successfully but I'm now stuck with the following error messages during building of the project in JDeveloper:
    --- START OF ERROR ---
    Error(6): Unable to instantiate tag: menu:tab (class: oracle.jsp._tag._tabmenu._tab_tag) Make sure that the tag class is available and that the tag library containing the class is not excluded from this application.
    Error(6): Unable to find class for bean: null defined by tag with class: oracle.jsp._tag._tabmenu._tab_tag
    --- END OF ERROR ---
    I believe the reason was that I have this Tag file (menu.tag) that contains definitions and references to another Tag file and here is its content:
    --- START OF TAG FILE ---
    <%@ taglib prefix="menu" tagdir="/WEB-INF/tags/tabmenu" %>
    <%@ attribute name="tab" required="true" type="java.lang.String" %>
    <jsp:useBean id="login" class="au.wa.apa.webbeans.WrsLogin" scope="session" />
    <div id="menu">

    <% } %>
    </ul>
    <div class="clear"></div>
    </div>
    --- END OF TAG FILE ---
    I've this problem for several days now and have not been able to solve it and I hope you are able to help me with this problem. Thank you for time and assistance and have a nice day.
    Kind Regards,

    Hi Guys,
    Do we have any workaround to this problem? Any feedback will be welcomed.

  • Problems with JSP - using tag library with Weblogic 8.1

    I am getting the following error when I try to run a web application called "regain":
    /searchinput.jsp(2): Error in using tag library uri='regain-search.tld' prefix='search': cannot find tag class: 'net.sf.regain.ui.server.taglib.MsgTag'
    probably occurred due to an error in /searchinput.jsp line 2:
    <%@taglib uri="regain-search.tld" prefix="search" %>
    The classes that the .tld file points to are in the web applications WEB-INF/classes directory and I have put this path into my classpath environment variable (running Windows 2000 Server).
    This application runs fine on Tomcat.
    I can't not figure out whether is error is masking another error or what. I've tried using JDK and Jrockit for my web app - no luck.

  • Multiple issues with iTunes/iPhone Music Library

    I have been having several problems with the new update (for the iPhone and iTunes.)
    First, when I download music from iTunes, I always clean up the album names (for instance, if I download an album that is called "Can't Stop Me - EP", I always remove the "EP" part, etc. That includes anytime it says Deluxe or Single. I have always done this to keep my library clean, but since the new update, every time I fix it, I'll close iTunes, and when I reopen it later, some of the media I change reverts back to the original name. If I check info on the media, the name I changed it to is still there, and when I click "OK", it reverts back to the new name. Why is this? It is also never consistent, and it picks random media to revert every time I go into iTunes.
    Also, one other issue I am having is I am seeing duplicates of artists in my Music on my iPhone. Avicii shows up twice with the same media listed under his name. What's weird, is that when listed alphabetically, the letter "E" appears above one of the duplicates. If I try to erase it, my phone crashes and both Avicii's disappear. If I sync my phone, the duplicates reappear and the cycle repeats. It does this for a few other artists in my library as well.
    I've tried resetting my phone and it fixes the solution for a bit, but then it happens again. Some solutions would be appreciated. Thank you.

    I had not tried that before, but from your suggestion, I went ahead and did it and it seems to have gotten rid of the crossfade issues I was experiencing but whenever I try and listen to a preview in the iTunes music store it still does not appear to be working.  Also, I was testing a number of tracks and it seems like there are a few tracks in particular that will make iTunes stop playing when I click on them and then if I attempt to play something else, iTunes says it is playing but no sound is coming from it.
    What I have found that is interesting is the first time I ran the Disk Utility it repaired a HUGE number of misc. files.  After running it and still experiencing problems I tried to run it again but this time the files were not as numerous and were all within the /Library/CoreServices menu.  Each subsequent time I ran the Disk Utility and rebooted, I tried to run the Disk Utility again and the same files seem to still be having the same issues.  This is just an example of one of the files I have been having an issue with.
    Permissions differ on "System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/RemoteDesktop.menu/Contents/Resources/zh_TW.lproj/RemoteDesktopMenu.nib" , should be drwxr-xr-x , they are -rwxr-xr-x .
    Repaired "System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/RemoteDesktop.menu/Contents/Resources/zh_TW.lproj/RemoteDesktopMenu.nib" .
    One in particular gave me a Warning and said it could not be repaired.  I'm not sure if it is important to repair but I still seem to be having some issues here and there.  Here is the message from the Disk Utility regarding the file in question.
    Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.

    i have jar called standerds.jar. i have included it in my class path.

    i m using the latest one. just downloaded it.
    it is supporting other tld files like core , fmt but not to functionsBoth versions of the JSTL are available for download so you could have very well downloaded the previous version. This seems more probable in the light of the fact that you can use all other libraries except functions which were added in 1.1 and were absent in 1.0.
    So, please read the pages at the links I gave earlier and also check that you're using the correct URI in your taglib attribute. At the very least, you'll get some background about the JSTL libraries that might save you trouble later.

  • Issue with setting the tag "Bld_localDestDir" in pre-build VI: Project gets saved to previous localDestDir.

    Hey All,
    I'm writing a pre-build VI that updates the build destination (and other items, but we're ignoring those for now). This pre-build vi, when run, grabs the Destination Directory from the tag "Bld_localDestDir" and modifies the directory by incrementing a version number.
    The issue I'm having is that after the pre-build vi is run, the build continues and puts the executable in the *previous* Destination directory instead of the updated one.
    Example:
    Destination Dir = c:\temp\version1   -->   Choose to build the executable   -->   Pre-build VI runs and sets Destination Dir to c:\temp\version2   -->   Build finishes and says "You can locate the build at C:\temp\version1"   -->   Check the build properties, destination dir is C:\temp\version2   -->   build again   -->   Pre-build runs and updates destination to version3   -->   Build finishes and says "you can locate the build at C:\temp\version2"   -->   check build properties, destination dir is C:\temp\version3
    And so on and so forth. As you can see, the tag setting is working (as witnessed by the Build Properties being updated). However, it looks like the destination directory for the build is determined and set *before* the pre-build VI is run. This is, in my opinion, not intended behavior.
    Here's a snippet of a watered-down version of the code, which still has the issue. I've also attached the full VI, saved for LV2010.
    The attached VI will grab the version number of the build, append it to the startup vi's title bar, update the build destinations with a new path that has the version number, and then save the project.
    As a final note, I'd prefer to not use a post-build VI to rename the directory that the build is placed in.
    Solved!

    Cool, thanks for confirming that I'm not crazy.   And no, I haven't found any documentation concerning this phenomenon.

    Good to know. I think this should be in the documentation somewhere though, perhaps in the detailed help for the Get/Set Tag invoke nodes for a Build Spec reference.
    To fix the issue, I've just made my own "Build Executable" vi that sets the tags before the build is started. It uses the same VI that I attached earlier (confirming that the VI works). Instead of starting the build from the project window and having a pre-build vi execute, I run this stand-alone VI and it builds the app.

  • Issue with adding songs to library.

    Hey, I am having problems putting songs into my library. I've tried Adding the files and folders seperatly, but nothing shows up in the library. All of the songs are MP3's and seem to play fine in WMP...Anyone else have this problem?

    i also have the same problem.
    basically, what i did, is i went to Add folder to library, and chose My Music. So it loaded all the songs, and shows in the bottom that i have 4780 songs. But when i do the same in Winamp, it shows 6806 songs. So i checked the Library in iTunes and saw that some songs were missing, in what seems like a random manner. For example, i have the album "The Art of Drowning" from AFI, but only 2 songs from them are showing in the iTunes library, yet i have no problem playing them in Winamp, or even Windows Media Player. I tried adding a couple files manually, but it still doesn't work.
    (those are songs from CD's i own personnally)
    Please help,
    Thanks.
    edit: i found something out in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2260889&#2260889
    i tried removing both ID tags from a certain song and then iTunes accepted it. There is no way i can do this manually on the ~2500 songs that iTunes is not playing. I will try the program mentionned (TidyMP3) and come back with results.

  • Question on Issue with fmt:formatNumber tag of jstl

    Hi,
    We have a web application that uses struts framework. In the action class,i am setting an attribute of request object like
    request.setAttribute("Val",new Double(11.25489));
    I am using jstl fmt:formatNumber function in the jsp page to format the value to 2 decimal places.
    <fmt:formatNumber value="${Val}" maxFractionDigits ="2" />
    When i access the jsp page,there is no display of anything.
    If i access using <c:out value="${Val}"/> ,it does print the value.
    Interestingly,tomcat does not generate any corresponding java file in its work area.
    Any clues...anybody ?

    Ok you are setting the value in request scope?
    How does the control transfer from the Struts Action to your JSP page?
    Check the struts-config to see if that forward is configured as a "redirect". If that is so, your request attribute would be lost, because a redirect causes a new request.
    The following code prints out all request attributes that are currently in scope.
    It might help checking to see if your "Val" is in scope or not.
    Request scope attributes:
    <table border="1">
    <c:forEach var="attr" items="${requestScope}">
      <tr><td><c:out value="${attr.key}"/>a</td><td><c:out value="${attr.value}"/></td></tr>
    </c:forEach>
    </table>Cheers,

  • Issue with JSTL ( c:import ) tags in Weblogic 9.2

    Hi,
    I'm trying to migrate a struts (1.2.9) application from Weblogic 8.1 to Weblogic 9.2. This application has JSPs with JSTL (1.0) tags.
    I have a JSP page that has multiple (around 7) c:import statements. When I launch my application, only the content from the last c:import statement is being displayed and rest of the c:import tags statements is simply ignored by Weblogic.
    I don't find any errors in the logs. When I comment out last c:import statement in this JSP then the content from the above c:import statement is being displayed. Only one (last one) c:import statement's content is being displayed in that whole page.
    This app worked just fine Weblogic 8.1.
    Any resolutions, hints, insights or workarounds on this issue is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mani

    Hello,
    You should not need to edit the wlp-light-web-lib.war weblogic.xml file. There are many places where other classes in wlp-light-web-lib are dynamically loading classes (using Class.forName()) from "higher-level" shared library modules (such as wlp-framework-full-web-lib), so I am certain that it works in general. There may just be an issue with how your shared library is set up, or how your webapp deployment descriptors are set up.
    So you mention that you have a shared library module containing your implementation of the AnalyticEventHandler; is this a .war file? And in the webapp you are trying to deploy this in, does your weblogic.xml explicitly include your shared library? If so, is your shared library being included before or after the standard WLP shared libraries?
    If you would like, posting your webapp's weblogic.xml may help to find the problem.

    The problem I have is that VM's in all VLANS except the ESXi host VLAN (VLAN 10) cannot see their default gateway, and I suspect that there is an issue with the VLAN tag going up to the ESXi host. I have read enough documentation to suggest that this is where the issue is.
    My Nexus 4001 interface configuration is below
    interface Ethernet1/1
      switchport mode trunk
      switchport trunk native vlan 999
      switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,30,40-41,60-62,90,96,999
      spanning-tree port type edge trunk
      speed auto
    The Aggregation VDC on the Nexus 7010 is the default gateway for all these VLANS.
    I also noted that the Nexus 5000 and Nexus 7000 supports the command vlan dot1q tag native command yet the Nexus 4000 doesn't seem to support this. Any assistance would be useful
    Thanks
    Greg

    Your configuration on the N4K looks correct. You shouldn't use vlan dot1q tag native commands on your N7Ks and N5Ks. Native VLAN tagging is really for QinQ (dot1q tunneling).
    My only suggestion is check your configuration of the vSwitch in the ESXi host and the host network profile.
    Regards,

  • Upgrading to weblogic 12c issue with JSF

    Migrating to the Weblogic 12c faced so many issue with the shared class library. After fixing all the issue stuck with JSF and on google everywhere it was mentioned error happening due to multiple JSF version colliding.
    My whole application works like a charm in 10.3.6 but same app not working after updating the spring 4 and hibernate 4.
    This is the error I am receiving below errors ...

    hi.
    I had faced this behavior on weblogic 12c(12.1.1).
    Maybe This problem was solved by 12.1.2.
    But, when text item submitted together with a upload file, multibyte characters was garbage characters.
    See Multibyte character was garbage characters, when multipart requested (Multipartリクエストで文字化けが発生する) on WebLogic12(12.1.2.0)

  • Trouble with rebuilding the iPhoto library

    Hi, I'd need help for a problem I have found on my dad's Imac. It's a late 2009, 21.5" with Core 2 Duo and 8 GB ram running Snow Leopard and the preinstalled iPhoto (I'm not sure about the version)
    He told me about some issues with photos in his library, so I thought that maybe rebuilding the iPhoto library would fix them. Unfortunately I can't access the "rebuild" dialog and holding down Command and Option keys when opening iPhoto does nothing.
    I've been trying with the iPhoto icon in Applications folder, not through the dock, keeping them pressed before doubleclicking, pressing them at the same time, pressing also shift or control or both... I've tried all combinations without any luck, as iPhoto starts normally without showing the dialog.
    What could be the problem? Any solution?
    Thanks!

    Yep! I know it doens't make any sense... I've tried repairing permissions and checking the file system, I've also deleted the content of "caches" folder but without any luck.
    I've moved the library to the desktop and started iPhoto, created a new library and then tried with that one. It doesn't work.
