Logging service disappeared

I was working on adding a custom authentication module. So at the o=myorg,o=isp level I was making changes to the core authentication module. I selected my custom auth module from the list boxes for the authentication menu and for the non-interactive auth list. That didn't have the desired effect, so I switched them back to LDAP and Cert (the old values we had been using).
Then something happened that I could no longer get into the admin console or the portal desktop.
Here's the error that shows up in /var/opt/SUNWam/debug/amLog

Matt,
It happened to me once when I was working on CustomAuthenticationModule. I assume you would have deleted the cust auth module from the amconsole (that's what i did and got this message during login).
In any case there were entries in Directory Server which was preventing to amconsole to come up. I went ahead and deleted those entries in DIT manually and i got amconsole up and running.
You will find your cust.auth module entries under services of parent 'dc' or 'o' and under services of portal org. You can even do a search for the service in DIT.Once you are done with debugging the customauth module you can attach it again !!
HTH
Sunil.

    I got the following problem:

    excluding w3wp.exe,
chrome.exe, wmiprvse.exe, wmtoolsd.exe, System and it shows NO attempts to access any file ih the time I try to start

    What can be done?

    Hi,
I don’t found the similar issue, if you have the IE 11 please try to update system automatic or install the MS14-029 update.
    The related KB:

  • Vista got corrupt after power failure. sfc reports error and Event log service is unable to start itself.

    Hi,
After a sudden power failure, I guess vista file system is corrupt.   I am able to start vista in normal mode, but it seems there are errors like Event Log service unable to start itself,  when I start IE, it closes automatically ,
Norton antivirus does not start itself.  and so on.
After Bing search, I went to safe mode and executed sfc /scannow and it reported error as below.
"Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them"
Unfortunately I am unable to upload log file, so I am pasting CBS.log content here....   Please advice.
Some parts of logs are removed due to limit of 60000 characters.
    Please advice.
    Regards

  • Cannot open eventlog service on computer '.'. (Windows Event Log service doesn't exist)

This problem used to be solved after moving a computer object into the appropriate OU and restarting, and if that didn't work, it used to be solved when uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft FEP (restarts in-between).  Now, the only way to access
event logs is by logging in as a domain admin, or by accessing event logs through remote manage.
If a machine object is added to the domain, dropped into the computers container, and restarted, we get this error when going into Computer Management:
"Cannot open eventlog service on computer '.'."
The original problem was noticed on our VMs, but I also tried it with a Lenovo Windows 7 build out of the box, added it to our domain, and the problem occurred. When our desktops are built, SCCM's task manager drops it into the appropriate OU immediately,
so desktops don't have issues.  With VMs, they are dropped into the computers container and restarted, so once this problem occurs, it almost never leaves.  SOMETIMES, removing it from the domain solves the problem, but not always.
I've tried all of the suggestions I've seen online and none of them have worked, such as cleaning up the policies (through registry, and the appropriate system folders), adding the proper NTFS permissions on the RtBackup folder and %SystemRoot%\System32\winevt\logs, netsh
    winsock reset, cleanboot, etc.
I did notice that I'm unable to find the NT Service\EventLog user group. I wanted to add it to %systemroot%\system32\winevt\logs, but the group cannot be found on the local computer. Even if that's the problem, why is it missing?
It doesn't seem like anyone else on the internet gets this exact error.

    Hi Kate!
Yes, the Windows Event Log service is missing. I had already tried your method (#3), and I did try it again. This is the error I get:
    "The specified service already exists."
If you check services.msc, it's still not there. If you try to start the Event Viewer, the same error comes up:
Cannot open eventlog service on computer '.'.
    Hi,
Please check for the existence of this key. If not found, create a *.reg file from another machine and import.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog
    Then, check the issue again.
If this doesn't work, let's run System file checker tool to repair system:
Run SFC command in elevated command prompt
    SFC /scannow
Any error message, please post here to let me know.
    Keep post.

  • HomeFusion- No support Service disappeared

I am hoping this may gain some attention, or anyone else can share if this has happened to them
On July 5th, after 2 SOLID months of very good speeds and HomeFusion service with 3+ bars on the router, the service disappeared.
YES: The 4G Signal is GONE, only Verizon 3G. I am in the "4G Extended Area" (HomeFusion does not roll back to 3G)
Also notable, I have a Verizon 4G LTE Ipad and it too used to work on 4G and now only 3G
Now, I have been calling Verizon daily since July 5th, and get no answer, is this service GONE? Is it Broken, When will they fix it , will they fix it.
It has gone from "We will have our network people looking at the tower to, well, it's 4G extended service area and it could just go away, sorry"
Am I crazy, or is this a very poor way to service customers and run a business? If I had a service that they installed and approved on their network, shouldn't they maintain the service, or give notice that the service is going away?  They are still billing me in advance for next month, 7 days of which I have been ale to use 0 GB of bandwidth.
I call tech support, ask to esculate, they tell me it is esculated, there is no one else to talk to. There is no answer or hope of knowing if the service is coming back or if/when they will do anything and decide to do anything except take my money. Oh, I expect a hassle when I tell them I am not paying for something I don't have.
So question: What should I do next, any suggestions on escalation? Seems Verizon could care less about it's 4G LTE network and customers that they put up on a service, they just don't seem to care.
    Thanks!

Well that works if you want to give Verizon the benefit, but they are the giant corporation and they are the ones who have the monopoly on the services in my area, so based on the fact they must thing I have to use them or nothing, I guess providing basic customer care is not an option.
You are saying it is on me to make a coverage map of my area and determine for myself that the service us gone?
    No.
It would be accecptable for Verizon to get back to me in a timely manner and tell me something like:
    1. The service has been lost due to changes in the towers
    2. We made a change to our towers and we are working on it
    3. There is no more service so we will refund your money and we are sorry we installed it in the first plae.
Not, we don't know, we will not get back to you and we will not tell you anything about why if failed or when it will be fixed, yet still take my money.
I think they have some basic level of responsibility,if the agree to install the service at my location to mainatin it or tell me why it is not working.
If it was not going to work for me, they should have told me that when they installed it,not yes you have 4G coverage and we will install this.  They didn't say, oh,it might disappear for no reason and we will not tell you why, so be prepared for that, and take your iPad and go search for where th new 4G signal is.
    Shame on them.
You apparently have knowledge that you're in a 4G "extended" area and not a normal 4G area. The website makes it very clear what "extended" means. It doesn't matter what some installer told you. Yes the installer SHOULD be more knowledgeable, however if you knew already you were in an "extended" area well then you already knew your reception would be iffy, yet you chose to still get service. And it's not the installers job to convince you to NOT get service. Since you are in an "extended" area it shouldn't be too long before you get regular 4G.

"Event Viewer cannot open the event Log or Custom view. Verify that the Event log service is running or query is too long. The instance name passed was not recognized as valid by a WMI data provider(4201)"
This error keeps cropping up now and again on most of our domain controllers (OS-2008 AND 2008R2)...Usually a restart fixes the issue however the issue repeats and security logs don't generate.
Any advice on how to fix this issue permanently would be greatly appreciated.

  • Webservice scenario with log services

    Hi Experts,
I have to invoke two webservices. First I have to call log service and next I have to call one normal webservice.
Scenario: SOAP Client -> Call Log service -> Call normal webservice
Using log service we can send the request and response information to database. When we call the Log service it should update the request details(timestamp) to database. When we get the response from normal webservice the log service should send the response details with timestamp to database.
This is Synch scenaio so the SOAP Client should get the normal webservice's response back to the client.
    How to do this scenario?
    Please share your ideas.
    Regards
    Sara

    hi Sara,
As far as i think, you might have to use BPM here.
    SOAP Client -
XI ==== BPM (BPM will inturn call the service and then the update in DATABASE)

  • The event logging service encountered an error while processing an incoming event published from Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing.

Last night, some of our systems installed updates released on 11/13/2014.
    KB3021674
    KB2901983
    KB3023266
    KB3014029
    KB3022777
    KB3020388
    KB890830
Today, all of the servers running Windows Server 2008 R2 started logging the following error in the Security log over and over:
    Log Name:      Security
    Source:        Microsoft-Windows-Eventlog
    Date:          1/15/2015 11:12:39 AM

    Description:
The event logging service encountered an error while processing an incoming event published from Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing.
Servers running Windows Server 2008 that also installed the updates are not experiencing the problem.  It looks like one of the updates may have introduced this problem with Server 2008 R2.

...Did you for sure confirm that:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/MS15-001
    is the cause?
I did.  I had a VM that was not experiencing the problem.  I took a snapshot and tested the patches one by one.  Installing only KB3023266 immediately caused the issue to occur (after reboot).  A similar process was used to confirm that
    installing KB2675611 resolved the problem.
Note that I found the installation of KB2675611 is usually quick, but it took several hours hours to install on some of our systems.  We had installed this patch a few months ago on a couple of servers and it was always quick to install.  But,
it seems like installing it on a symptomatic system can cause it to take a long time.

  • The event logging service encountered an error (res=5) ...

    Hi,
I have promoted a new server to be a third DC.
All seems ok, replication, dns, etc are working properly but after the boot in the system event log I see those errors:
    Log Name: System
    Source: Microsoft-Windows-Eventlog
    Date: 25.5.2012 14:32:15
    Event ID: 23

    Description:

and then for about 40 Microsoft channels:
The event logging service encountered an error (res=5) while initializing logging resources for channel Microsoft-Windows-AppID/Operational.
The event logging service encountered an error (res=5) while initializing logging resources for channel Microsoft-Windows-AppLocker/EXE and DLL.

The event logging service encountered an error (res=5) while initializing logging resources for channel Microsoft-Windows-Security-Configuration-Wizard/Operational.
    etc...
There is no error event before those event id 23
    Any idea?
    Thank you

Have you checked the path of the System event log? Something similar happened to me once, turned out the log file was corrupted. I updated the path and created a new evt which solved the issue for me.
    Hopefully this helps:

  • 4GLTE HomeFusion Service Disappears after 2 months and no support from Verizon

    Thanks!
    Dave W

Lol that sux. Some people are so filthy rich or don't know any better and they just pay the bill

  • How to Remove "CleanApp Logging Services" Pref Pane?

I use Mavericks OS 10.9.2.  I've followed the instructions on how to completely remove "CleanApp" from my Mac. I'm stuck on Step 12. which says: "If you have installed the System Preferences pane as well, you also have to  delete it from the Mac OS X system preferences.  Just do a RIGHT CLICK on the menu item and select Remove "CleanApp Logging Services" Preference Pane."  I've clicked on the "CleanApp Logging Service" Icon at the bottom of the System Preferences window. (Please see Picture 1 and Picture 2).
I use a mid - 2012 Mac Pro with a cordless mouse.  How do you "right click" on my mouse?  I need help on completing "Step 12," mentioned above.  What should I do?

You might want to try Control & click (that is the Control key) to open a contextual menu; hopefully, the command referenced will be available.

  • B2B customers Logging Service calls

I think I'm correct in quoting from some documentation in that "Customers can log service calls through the site using support tickets"
Is this correct and if so very briefly how does this happen and how do these tickets become service calls?
I'm aftraid I'm not very familiar with the support module and it looks like only licensed users can create support tickets.

Before Webtools was acquired by SAP, the support tickets were used as (then Praxis Software) the bug tracking tool for Webtools.  The entire service view is based on support tickets.  Synching them to service calls was basically a kludge, because the data structures were completely different.
The support tickets are considered more of a customer facing converstation thread.  They might give rise to knowldege base articles or service calls, but it was considered best to create these as separate entities because a lot of chatter may occur that is support but not a chargeable service call.
Basically, support tickets pre-date Webtools integration with Business One and how they interacted with B1 was not a factor when they were created.  Given that, some people have used them to give support on their commerce sites.

  • WebLogic logging services, SMTPHandler project

I wrote an SMTPHandler for java.util.logging
The SMTPHandler is similar to Log4j's SMTPAppender.
The SMTPHandler code is open source (Apache Public License)
If you are using Weblogic's Logging Services, I'd like to get feedback
    from you.
I'd like to know if the SMTPHandler works for you in your
    Weblogic 8.1 environment.
    http://smtphandler.sourceforge.net/
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/logging/

Can you debug print the LogFactory.getFactory().getClass().getName() to stdout and see what class is being initialized as the LogFactory? You can try to set the commons logging property on the command line of the server with the -Dorg.apache.commons.logging.LogFactory=weblogic.logging.commons.LogFactoryImpl and see if this helps. When Commons Logging is initialized with the WebLogic Commons Log factory implementation you should see Commons log messages being directed to the Server logs.
