Logic for display column on condition

HI Experts,
                I need to make report in which on User input in check boxes the desired colums will display. This report is Customer aging. I have 4 check boxes.
1. 0-60 days
2. 61-90 days.
3. 91-120 days
4. 121-180 days.
User can check any check box wether it is single or 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 or 2 & 3 etc. to see the desired coloum. wHAT WILL BE THE logic and code to display the clicked colums. if it is difficult then u can display all colums but the data shuld b in clicked columns. iTs urgent.

I dont know about displaying only those columns, you may have to put different write statements for each possible case
for getting blank values to be displayed in unchecked columns, you can use this
(since i dont know your field names, i have given my own names)

    This is the right way of doing things like that:

  • Authorization scheme for display/read only conditions on item level

    Hi All,
    I have question. I want to use an authorization scheme to manage if users with a certain role have the permission to either update an item or have the persmission to only see the item or that they don't have permission to see it at all.
    So, the input for the scheme would be: 1. user role 2. the current page 3. the current item.
    The output would be: 0 (update) 1 (read only) 2 (not displayed).
    I think I can manage that.
    And I can attach this schema to the items.
    So far so good.
    But how can I make it so that the 0,1 and the 2 will actually do what they need to do?
    I have been thinking about making a function like GET_AUTHORISATON(ROLE,PAGE,ITEM) output: 0,1,2 but I still can't figure out how to connect this with the functionality I want to achieve.
    Can somebody give me a hint?

    Thanks, it works, almost, but what if items are mandatory on a page, but not always mandatory?
    If a user has a certain role, some fields are manadatory, otherwise not.
    Again, a function would do the trick as far as the input and output information
    something like IS_MANDATORY(USER_ROLE, CURRENT_PAGE, CURRENT_ITEM) but how can I make it work?
    I guess a PL/SQL validation like:
    IF IS_MANDATORY(USER_ROLE, CURRENT_PAGE, CURRENT_ITEM) THEN ITEM IS NOT NULL
    END IF;

    PS: personally I think item level security is not something you wish to implement in your system. I prefer different screens for different roles.
    Far more straightforeward. Easy for maintenance. When something disfunctions, it's far more easy to pinpoint the location of the cause.

    i have to display a report in a heirarchical tree structure . I am able to display the report in heirarchical format .
    The following is my requirement . I'm able to do it for 2 nodes . but how to build the nodes for the below requirement .
    Step 1 : Once User enters DB, Go to CHVW  with No Receipt Indicator as Space and CHARG as DB # Entered on screen(Parent Node)
    Step2: Check the Movement indicator if it is u2018Bu2019 then itu2019s a Raw material No further Drill Down (Last Node), If It is u2018Fu2019 then Go to Step 3.
    Step 3: Get all the Unique DB # and Corresponding Orders, Display only DB# on Output (Child Nodes)

    let me explain my requirement clearly .
    first of all i need to use only table CHVW for my requirement .
    the user enters the batch number in the selection screen. For that batch number, i have fetch the production order number and batch number .this forms the first node .
    For the second node , i have to again select from Chvw table using the production order numbers obtained from the first select statement . the batch numbers obtained from this select query will form the second nodes. IF the movement type indicator is B ,then these is the last node
    otherwise we have to repeat above procedure untill we movement type indicator for a particular batch number is 'B'.
    i'e for each of the batch numbers in the second nodes, i have to again get the production orders and for that production orders i have to fetch the batch numbers again .these will form the 3rd node .
    if at this step the movemtn type indicator is 'B' ths is the last node. other wise the same step should be repeated.
    could u plz give me some clue ....

    apart from the physical data store implementation,
    are columns actually guaranteed ordering ? Guaranteed.... probably not, but they are in the data dictionary in the order in which they are created, so are known to be consistent in that respect.
    I don't think it's correct to refer to C(1)...C(n) ,
    they are just columns, there's no particular reason
    why one should come first or lastLikewise, I don't see the point in selecting columns out in a particular order unless you're trying to spool the output to a file.

  • How to define logic to BO for display of more meaningful messages in Webi?

    Hi All.
    Greetings for the Festive Season.
    We would like to know as to how to define the logic to our BO application while displaying messages to end users of Web Intelligence.
    We have defined restrictions for various users and restrictions are appliced correctly when the user logs in.
    We have some MIS REPORTS in Web Inetlligence with different charts and we have also given links to various other web intelligence reports at the bottom for users to click and view or do analysis.
    And if any user if he/ or she is not authorised to view any / or part of the report - it does not show up.
    Which works well.
    But if some user is not part of any group and is not authorised to view data in a particular report, then we see a standard message coming in like :
    "No Data to retrieve in Query1"   or    "No Data to retrieve in ABC".
    Which one could say is correct.  Because for that particular user, the query has NO data.
    But. We feel there has to be a logic to be defined differently with the applicaton.
    How do we differentiate - as to whether the query does not really have data at the back end and HENCE it is saying No data to retrieve in the Query or report
    OR whether the user who is trying to view report is NOT authorised to view  
    AND HENCE the message is displayed as "No Data to Retrieve"
    We looked at the source file and it is pointing to :../AnalyticalReporting/viewers/cdz_adv/ViewDocument.jsp?
    But we found it a bit difficult to understand the logic there.
    Could anyone advise as to how we could define this logic for Web Intelligence - so that messages we see on screen for the end user could be more meaningful ? How do we really make the system understand or look for 2 options as to whether the message to be displayed is because there is REALLY NO DATA AT THE DATABASE LEVEL, OR whether the USER is not authorised to view this data.
    Can this be made possible by any means or thro SDK ?

    The 3 rd KF column is the calculated ratio which is =>  2nd Column (Work Hrs) A% 1st column (PlanHrs)
    Right now, I cann't get % at detail line (they're now shown as X, because PlanHrs is not null at detail line.
    I'd like those X should be calculated as =>  WorkHrs (at that line) A% PlanHrs (of that specific employee) .
    For example: 16 A% 1827 = 0.875%
    It seems soo eassy but I coulnd't do it.

  • Conditionally displayed columns of interactive report not displayed

    We have an interactive report in which few of the columns have been defined with conditions for display.
    But on the interactive report page, when the conditions are satisfied these columns do not display in the report by default.
    These columns are found in the 'Select Columns' -> 'do not display' pane. Everytime the report is run, these columns need to be selected using the select column.
    Is there anyway to make the columns appear in the report by default, when conditions are true.

    For this issue, we finally came up with a work around.
    we removed the conditions from all the columns then ran the application report page.
    Clicked on Select Columns and moved the columns from the do not display pane to the right pane.
    Ordered them as needed. Then saved the report as primary.
    Then again went to the edit page-> interactive report and applied the conditions to the necessary columns.
    and it worked.
    When I went to the report these columns are displayed by default.

    Samara - I suspect there are a few ways to do this, but none obvious or very easy as far as I can see.
    You can create dynamic SQL (as Arie and others have suggested) to only include the columns that are not null.
    You can build and output the HTML directly to the page, choosing only to include the values that are not null.
    You can create a set of conditions that you can apply to the report columns. A very crude example might be 30 hidden page items like 'SHOW_COL1' etc. (not great, I know), or perhaps you could set a hidden page item to a value like '01:02:03:'etc., with the number only being included if the value is not null (so that col3 being null gives you '01:02::04'etc.), so that the condition for each column is 'Text in expr 1 in contained in Item in expr 2', where expr 1 is '01' for column 1 etc.
    Sorry, that is a very contrived example, but it's just to illustrate that there's generally a way of doing pretty much anything in APEX. You might create your item containing the comparison expression by requerying the data in this kind of way:
    SELECT NVL2(column1, '01', '') || ':' || NVL2(column2, '02', '') || ':' etc.
    FROM table
    WHERE condition
    However, wanting to create a single-row report with nulls hidden makes we wonder what you're actually trying to achieve and whether there's a better way? Could you use a series of page items, for example?

    If I remove the condition for the report, I can see the report getting refreshed and showing new rows through the $a_Report() call.
    Is there something that needs to be added to the script or $a_report call to validate the condition too ?Is there a way I can validate the region condition too ?
    Appreciate any suggestions/pointers here. I really do not want to refresh the whole page.

    Hi Flavio,
    Thanks for your support.I figured where I was going completely wrong.
    Its just that when the page loads for the first time the temp table is empty and hence the report is not being displayed which simply
    means that the report id Im passing into the a_report function is not rendered on the page. Hence no matter what the temp table contains the report id is absent from the page.
    I fixed it as follows :
    Remove the condition for the report.
    Added and item and computed(P_Compute) its value using select count(*) from temp.
    Added an onload JS function which does a $x_Show('Report_Region') if P_Compute > 0 or $x_Hide('Report_Region') if P_Compute <0 .
    Now in my JS function which has an AJAX call to an ODP does an $x_Show('Report_Region').
    Flavioc : the query for my report is simple
    select * from tempIt finally dawned upon me that I'm trying to catch hold of an ID that's not rendered.
    So one issue is solved now the other part would be figuring out how to make $a_report work with pagination etc .

  • Passing two values in a column prompt for display and filtering

    Is there a workaround to use two columns in a prompt for display and passing the input value for a prompt value in dashboard prompt? For eg we want to display the description in the prompt but pass the id to the filter value or presentation variable, just like we have in bi publisher,LOV automatically grab the two value for display and actual value to pass to the query.Therefore, user will click the description and corresponding id will be saved in presentation variable from the prompt .

    I have developed a crosstab in CR based on SAP BW Query. Report requirement demands to display all columns even though data is not present for those columns. However this report doesn't show the columns when there is no data. Can you please help to resolve this issue !!!

    As Abhilash stated, the crosstab rows/columns are like groups.
    If you do not have a value to create a column, it will not show in the crosstab. Do you have a table that lists all the values you wish to show in the columns? Is it used in the report? Perhaps you can use it to create the columns by using a left outer link from the table with all the values to data table you are reporting on, and use it for your columns
    If the columns are dates, and you do not have data for a particular date, that can be done.

    There are other posts regarding this issue. I can not think of one at the moment for building a table for values other than a date but I am pretty sure I have seen one.

  • Interaction enabled on dimensional columns though not marked as Use for display

    Hi,
    I am facing issue with few of the dimensional columns in OBI 11g. Drill down property is enabled for few columns which are not marked as Use for Display or added to any hierarchy level.
    Clicking on these columns is drilling down to the next lower lever. we can avoid this by setting a system wide defaults but not allowed to do that.
    Any other suggestions to overcome the issue?

    Any dimensional attribute column residing on a higher level of aggregation will automatically render the drill-down to its next lower-level child.
    "Use for display" defines the attribute(s) displayed by default after a drill and is used to populate the property of the (default) displayed presentation column in a presentation hierarchy.
    So you are experiencing standard, desired behaviour. Removing that interaction will necessitate setting system-wide defaults.
