LOGIN HELP!!!

can anyone help with session variable problem?? I cannot seem
to get my pages to take over the session variable, and am now
getting 80040e14 errors....

thought you were
talking about PHP (for some reason).
In ASP, you will create the session variable like this (this
example sets a
session equal to a recordset variable)
Session("YourID")
=(rsyourrecordsetname.Fields.Item("YourID").Value)
From there it's easy. You can create a data binding object
that will allow
you to drop the session variable whereever you wish. Go to
the Data
Bindings window in the Application panel and click the +
sign. Then select
Session Variable and fill in YourID in the window (or
whatever you are
calling it).
Now an object will show in the Data Bindings window and you
can drop it
anywhere you wish on your pages. You can also carry the value
from page to
page using the Request Object to request it from a form
variable or a
previous page.
Code looks like this:
<%= Session("YourID") %>
You would request the page with the user's details like this:
<a href="page.asp?Member=<%= Session("YourID")
%>">

Login Help - Login screen comes up but nothing happens when I hit "login"

Hi,
I am a total newbie to APEX and have limited experience with Oracle in general, so please, be kind ;)
I am attempting to get APEX installed with 10g Express. I had installed 10g Express and it seemed to work fine. I went through the APEX install process and now when I go to my Database Homepage I see the login screen prompting for workspace, username, and password. I plug in my information and when I hit the "login" button nothing happens at all. No browser activity, no error, as if the button is just dead. I can connect to my DB via SQLPLUS and the oracle service and listener are running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Installed on a windows x64 server.

This is the exact problem I had.
There are no errors in the log file, but no images either. I'm using the embedded HTTP server in the database (11g)
I found in the installation guide that the script to load the images is:
apex_epg_config.sql
It takes 1 parameter, the ORACLE_HOME. The example in the guide seems to indicate that it's looking for a temporary directory, but after trying that and failing, a look through the code showed that it was looking for the home directory. After running that, the images show up and it seems to work.
Now all I have to do is remember what I gave it for the admin password!

Running Discoverer reports into portal using SSO portal login - help

Hi,
I am trying to run disco reports into oracle portal using discoverer portlet providers -list of worksheet. What I want to achieve is as follows
1) login to portal using SSO userid /pwd - Done
2) Enable discoverer for SSO - Done
*3) Use discoverer list of worksheets to show reports into portal but want to filter the list of worksheet to currently logged in portal user. This so that users looged in only sees the reports to which they have access in discoverer - Need Help*
*4) Once user runs this report then I want to filter the discoverer data based on users login or portal group - Help*
Can someone please help with issue no 3/4 urgently.

Assuming I have created the private connections using CAPI I still have my doubts as follows
Do I have to then login as each portal user and add the list of worksheet portlet for each user and selecting
"check the box called Display a different list of worksheets by allowing users to customize database connection and then check Show a default list of worksheets using connection, changing the connection to user's connection."
Considering we have 500+ users this will be huge cumbersom task for me.
Also when I tried to do this before loggin as each portal user when I logged in as second portal user I could see the list of worksheet portalet added by the first user which means I have to edit it but even that was not possible because it would not let me edit as only the page own whi created the portlet was allowed to edit (that is the first user)
OR
Do you have to give portal user permission to edit the page so that they can log on themselve to add the list of worksheet portlet on the page by selecting their private connection and selecting
"check the box called Display a different list of worksheets by allowing users to customize database connection and then check Show a default list of worksheets using connection, changing the connection to user's connection."
Finally I know someone has made it work using URL links and it works as follows
1) Map the portal and disco user into a table
2) Create disco private connections
3) when portal user loggs in and click on "Show my discoverer report" it then runs a PL/SQL package which in turn identifies the private connection details and creates a URL out of it as follows
[http://portal.ccm.ac.uk/discoverer/app/partialConnect?password=IRTIMUDV123_=qplus=VDUMITRI=browser_selected=connect=RELATIONAL=QPRIS=viewer]
clicking on this link open discoverer with private list of workbook/worksheet.
Please advise which way should I follow.

Since the LogIn issues BC encountered today worldwide.....All access and connections have been lost and cannot be reinstated with my current password. Since my email is my BC website email I am unable to request PW reset. It for some reason is different from my AdobeID. Unable to login , help please !!!

iam new to solaris, i installed solaris 11/06. after it got installed and restarted, at the login screen or login at command prompt. when i type login name as root , password field comes up, but iam unable to type anything expect to press enter in password filed. how should i log in, can any one help me. may i know what is the problem. please help me, thank you

You won't get any visual feedback when you type the password - just type the root password that you specified during the install process and hit return.

LDAP Login Help

I am having a problem here and hope someone is able to help me out - I am banging my head against a wall.
I am trying to connect my MAC against a LDAP server. The server seems to run fine, and authenticates several linux box. So I assume it's a mac configuration issue. I configured the mac to use RFC 2307 mapping and the listing under "Directory Servers states "responding normally"
On the MAC I can do an ldapsearch and query the user records, I can even do an su -l and change to the ldap user once I am logged in as a local user, but the main login window doesn't take the exact same user/password combo. The LDAP logs show that the record for the user was found, though, but the logs look different look different from the su-l attempt. The system and secure log on the MAC don't show anything related to the LDAP login attempts when using the login window....

Rocket Raid 2522 - no localhost/7402 so can't login - help pls?

I havea RR2522 linked to a ProAvio raid drive. It was working fine except my password wasn't letting me into my GUI interface. So I reset it according to Highpoint instructions.
Now I can't login to either https or https://localhost:7402/ and my Raid Drive has dissappeared.
I have tried lots of things including RR4322 Driver that someone on an Apple thread suggested.
Highpoint Customer Service is no existent - and my supplier says - speak to HIghpoint. Last Thursday they took a support request. No answer yet!
I know it works because it did work. Can anyone help pls I am really stuck?

SecureAFP and SecureVNC via SSH Login - Help?

Hello, Just want to check that there are no security problems in the my future setup ideas.
I have a MacMini and iMac at home, and also a MacBook Air/Pro (one of which I always have with me). I want to set up either the MacMini or iMac as a Server for all my files etc. My plan is to set up Remote SSH Login in the sharing panel so I can open a SSH Tunnel, and tunnel VNC and AFP through it (I'm not sure if I need to also set up Screen Sharing and File Sharing in the Preference Pane?)
Once this is set up I should (if I'm not wrong) be able to open up terminal.app and type in "SSH [email protected]:[Port number (depending on the Mac I want to connect to, be it the MacMini or iMac as I use port forwarding)]", once that is done I will need to type my normal login password (is this send in clear text or not - does anyone know??). Hopefully a SSH tunnel will then be up and running. When it is, can I just go to Finder>Connect to Server>"afp://myhostname.dyndns.com" or "vnc://myhostname.dyndns.com" and then these services will be sent through the SSH tunnel, or will they not?
Is this a good set up or not? Would I be better with using FTP/(S)FTP (although that is Read-only, if what I have read is correct)? Or use Transmit (a FTP/(S)FTP Client) Or would I just be better using Back-To-My-Mac from MobileMe? Is there any GUI for setting up a SSH tunnel, which can save info for multiple Servers? What set-up do you guys use?

Thanks both of you for your detailed help, I'm guessing it doesn't matter if your put 10548 or 22548 etc as long as you map it to the right port (548) on the mac (when typing the "-L....:localhost:...." commend) and within Finder itself.
Correct. The choice of 10548, 22548, 12345, etc... is up to you as long as you use a valid port number and do not pick a port that is associated with a service you depend on (most of those are low numbered ports, but if you are concerned, you can do Google server on "Known Port Numbers"
In Finder do I just type "localhost" or the name of the computer on my network?
In Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server, you type vnc://localhost:publicportnumber. This is the 10548, or 22548, or 12345, whatever port number you choose. The :port_number is how you tell the software making the network connection which non-standard (customized) port number you wish to use.
You are specifying localhost, because you have created a tunnel that goes from your local host port number 10548 (or 22548, or 12345, ...) to the remote port 548 on your server Mac. As with any kind of tunnel you have to enter it on one end, and when you emerge you are at the other end. So the point of entry is on your localhost, at port 10548, hence afp://localhost:10548.
Just out of a matter of interest obviously the "-p" command tells terminal what port, but what does the "-L" command do,
The terminal is NOT the command line. The terminal is just a bit of software that passes your keyboard input to a pseudo serial port which is being read by your shell (typically 'bash'), that parses your input and looks for a command that matches the first token, and then starts a subprocess to run that command and passing the rest of the command line to that command for it to parse.
so the -p is tell the ssh command to make its initial connection to that port.
The -L 10548:localhost:548 tells ssh that on the localhost it should open and listen on port 10548 for any connection requests, and to pass anything and everything across the tunnel to port 548 on the other side of the ssh connection. Each -L option establishes a separate port pair to listen and forward network requests between.
does it also matter if they are capitals or not (e.g. could "-p" be "-P").
ABSOLUTELY! The Unix environment is VERY MUCH Case Sensitive.
See "man ssh" and pay attention to the fact that some options are lowercaser and some are upper case. Using the wrong case will either not work, or you will get some behavior you did not expect.
When setting up the alias where are they then stored - or does it just remember them, so when you type "sshmacmini" it will auto fire up a SSH tunnel to the MacMini and then ask for a password? Is there anyway to then delete these alias or reset them?
Do you mean a bash shell command alias, as in
alias sshmacmini='ssh -p 22001 -L 22548:localhost:548 -L 22590:localhost:5900 [email protected]'
If you mean one of those, then it should be stored in your shell initialization file. For bash (the default Mac OS X comamnd line shell), the typical place would be
$HOME/.bash_profile
However, if you already have a .profile, then use that. Bash looks for and uses the first initialization file it finds, in the following order. If you have multiple, one the first found will be used:
.bash_profile
.bash_login
.profile
If you mean some other kind of alias, please clarify.
When you use NNNNN and KKKKK they are obviously two different port numbers to port forward to port 22 on the two different Macs?
If by NNNNN and KKKKK you mean establishing your router's port forwarding so that Public Internet port NNNNN is forwarded to Mac 'A's port 22 and Public Internet port KKKKK is forwarded to Mac 'B's port 22, then yes. This is a bit of router port forwarding magic. In my example I used 22001 and 22002 as my NNNNN and KKKKK values.

A lot of the command line stuff is generic 'bash' shell, so go to your local bookstore and browse some books on 'bash'.
Personally for learning about how Unix glues things together via the shell, I am still partial to the Kernighan and Pike "Unix Programming Environment" Copyright 1984. The first half of that book will teach you many of the underlying Unix principals. Just keep in mind that it was written 27 years ago when Unix could run on a PDP-11 with less than a megabyte (NOT Gigabye) of memory. However the basic principals are still there. Plus Kernighan is an excellent writer and has his name on many of the early Unix books and programs (such as the 'k' in awk is for Kernighan, the original typesetting program roff and nroff used to format all the man pages, the K&R "C" manual, etc...).

WRT110 works for every website except ONE after login, help please

I have a WRT110 version 1.0
It works for every website, except one. And it works for that one website just fine, until I login. When I enter my username/password it accepts it then redirects me to the companies landing page. I can see that because the URL loading changes and it shows the Title in the page which indicates it connected, but then it just sits there 'loading', in the status bar I see the message: "Waiting for tools.domain.com... to load" or something like that. and it takes like 5 to 10 minutes, no joke, then it loads.
If I connect my computer directly to the modem and bypass the router, then it loads just fine, very fast like everything else.
But then when I re-connect my router and refresh the page, it does it again, takes forever, but I can instanly see the title of the page in the title bar.
It works on every computer that I connect trough the mobile hotspot on my 4G verizon phone. but if it is through the router, every computer takes 5 to 10 minutes. Literrally.
Anyone have this happen to them? If so, how did you fix it?

Try the following settings:
# Open up the browser on the desktop and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page…
# Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
# Then click on Security tab disable SPI Firewall Protection, uncheck Filter Anonymous Internet Requests...
Now check the connectivity status.

Screen bust - need login help

Sadly, after 7 years loyal service my powerbook fell on the floor and the right hand hinge snapped.
Now all I get on start up is a quick flicker and black screen but an external screen fires up fine - except it doesn't show the login screen but an empty aqua blue screen. I'm guessing the powerbook was set to show a second display as separate as I can send the mouse pointer off screen and back again, but how do I change the setting to mirroring or get to click on the user login setting if I can't see it?

If the device has had physical damage, then it likely would not be covered by warranty if that's what you are asking.
If you don't have insurance, then you likely would have to pay the repair (if it is repairable).
If you are technically inclined, you might attempt the repair yourself.

BO Mysql Database login help

We have BOXI 3.0 (testing) installed in solaris sunOS 5.10, with the tomcat and mysql that comes with it. I am trying to login mysql but i am not being able. Is there any special trick to do that.
I am able to use the mysqlshutdown.sh and mysqlstartup.sh to start and stop mysql. when I do ./mysqlshutdown it asks for password and that works.
This is what I get:

Enter password:
ERROR 1045: Access denied for user 'busobj'@'business2' (using password: YES)

Typically this error message might happen if you are trying to connect to the MySQL server remotely, in which case you will have to grant your remote system connectivity rights to the mysql database.

After automatic software update- being prompted for Darwin login - HELP!

I'm now locked out of the Powerbook G4. Purchased this system back in 2004 - haven't even used it since then as we didn't know how to hook it up to the internet. Recently powered it up and got it hooked into the network (although wireless not working). Noticed that all software and virus stuff was way, way out of date - so did that automatic software update. Once everything was downloaded - it asked to reboot the system. When system reboot, it's now sitting at the Darwin/BSD prompt - asking for a login: - when I try the login that we setup for the computer, it just spits back incorrect login. Tried Administator as well - no LUCK!
Any suggestions??
