Logitech mouse (performa mx) problems

My mouse is a Logitech Performa MX wireless mouse.
I have a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. My mouse is using Logitech Control Center 3.6.0 (up to date). During the past month or so, I have encountered increasing problems with clicking and selecting. I have not chnged my conrol panel settings, and they look pretty normal when I check them.
In a Safari window, simple clicks act like double-clicks.
In the Finder, I click once and an item opens. Or, I press and drag, but the item does not move to its new location.
In Illustrator CS5, I draw a selection area, but the objects aren't highlighted.
Lots of other little anomalies.
These things happen with a fullycharged battery. My lens appears to be clean. I have these problems regardless of what color or texture of surface I am mousing on.
Anyone got any suggestions?

• Logitech mouse new problem

- i have a logitech basic 2 button mouse working for years on my g4 desktop
- yesterday the screen would not come back from sleep (computer was still on) so I had to restart using front button
- now the logitech mouse both buttons will only work like control (right) click - (showing info window)
things i tried
- tried to reset logitech prefs
- tossed the prefs (several times) (both root and user folders)
- tried update/reinstall of sotfware
- nothing helps
- another logitech mouse has same problem only on this computer
- login to a different user - NO PROBLEM! mouse is fine
- both keyboard and mouse work fine on another mac
- maybe some OTHER USER related pref should be tossed???
any ideas would be appreciated.

That was the default Apple mouse driver. Since you are using a Logitech, at the moment you have no need for the preference file for it. If at some point in time, you get an Apple mouse, it comes with the software you would need.
You said you already reinstalled the Logitech mouse software and that didn't work... something happened when the computer woke from Sleep. At this point, you might consider an Archive and Install but make sure you have all your important data/images/video and documents backed up first.
Did you Repair Disk Permissions as I suggested above?
And try the Logitech Support page: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/support_downloads/&cl=us,en

• I'm having problems with a wireless Logitech mouse

Since upgrading to ML i'm having problems with a wireless Logitech mouse that worked well prior to the update. I'm using the current Logitech Control Center software. No other mouse software is on my Mac Mini. If I use a Guest Aacount the problems ( wheel and back button ) are not present. Any suggestions?

You might try the Logitech support site. There are communities on there:
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/keyboard-mice-combos
Here is a link to drivers:
Logitech Drivers
You might check your home folder/Library to see if you can find a Logitec .plist.
You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Hold down the option key while using the Finder "Go To Folder" command. Enter ~/Library. Delete the .plist(s) for the mouse.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.2. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

• 10.4.9 - Problems after Sleep with Logitech Mouse

Hi there -
since installing 10.4.9 I'm having problems with my Logitech Mouse after waking up my iMac G5 from Sleep.
The mouse will behave erratically, almost as if buttons are continually being pressed. For example, if I click any items in the Menu Bar then it behaves as if I immediately clicked again.
This weird behavior will continue until I hit the Apple or Command keys on the keyboard, after that all is fine.
I'm using the LCC drivers 2.1.3 and under 10.4.8 all was fine.
Anyone else seeing this behavior? Anyone have any tips how to fix this?
Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim Tschirner;
I had something similar happen with my Mighty Mouse after the last security update. One of the switch started misbehaving immediately after the update. I took the mouse into the Apple store and discovered that is was a problem with the mouse and not the update because it did the same thing on their Mac.
Have you tried the mouse on another system to be sure it is not a problem with the mouse?

• Mouse performance issues

Hi,
I recently upgraded to 10.5.8 from 10.4.
I've been using a wireless apple mouse (older model from a couple of years ago) and everything was normal.
I decided I needed a new mouse for functionality purposes and bought a logitech wireless mouse. When I installed it, the mouse felt either sluggish or too fast {it would over shoot the destination). I tried adjusting the parameters but haven't been able to solve the issue.
So I reverted back to the original apple wireless and it too performed the same way.
Then I tried the Microsoft USB mouse and it feels more like it. Perhaps a bit off but not by much.
I've heard that there have been complaints about the OS X Mouse acceleration curve ever since OS X started. The symptoms I've read match the problems I'm facing now. But the difference is that I didn't notice the issue before I installed Leopard. I thought maybe Leopard is the culprit. But then again, maybe it's the logitech, maybe it's the blue tooth?
Regardless, I need to get the logitech mouse feeling like the Microsoft USB. Anyone encounter the same problem? Any solutions?
Thanks,
Saki

I'm also having the same issue. After sleeping my MacBook Pro and waking it, my cursor is so erratic that I have to restart. It happens multiple times a day, and the computer is almost unusable when the trackpad/cursor is behaving that way - moving in tiny steps, constantly "jerking" around. I just installed the Mac OS X 10.5.2 update, hoping it would solve the issue, but it didn't. I'm getting very irritated!
Someone, please help us solve this issue. Thanks!

• Logitech Mouse (MX 1000), Logitech Control Centre 2.3.1, Leopard and iTunes

I have installed Leopard ever since it came out in Late Oct. On my Mac mini (PPC), I use a logitech mouse (MX1000) with the latest software from Logitech. Everything was fine until this morning, whenever I use iTunes if I move my mouse pointer anywhere near the volume slider, it automatically moves the slider to the far left (no volume). So now I cannot control the volume or even skip tracks because as I mentioned, if the mouse pointer is anywhere near the volume slider it moves the slider.
I am wondering if anyone with a similar setup of mine is experiencing the same problems as me.

Hi, all!
Just a "me, too" to add to oceans' comments about SteerMouse.
I tried then purchased it recently, primarily because it provides what I consider superior mouse tracking speed/acceleration control for my Apple wireless mouse, well beyond the built-in drivers. When I switch to an older Logitech mouse (OpticalMouse11), SteerMouse enables some handy programmable functions I'd never been able to manage before. Thus, worth it to me... [1]
Of course, the new Logitech Control Center 2.0.0 is free, so I'd suggest trying both to evaluate what provides acceptable performance.
Regards,
Dean
[1] I'd guess the tried-and-true USB Overdrive would also be excellent for this case; I simply haven't tried recent versions because Bluetooth support hasn't been added yet. But it's been the favorite of many Mac folks for years.

• Logitech mouse buttons not working in photoshop cc 2014

logitech mouse buttons not working in photoshop cc 2014 winds 8.1. Is this a common problem?
I have updated the latest drivers and have a few buttons programmed with keyboard shortcuts that used to work in previous versions of Photoshop but don't work now.
Scrolling with mouse in bridge stopped working in cc butI see it is now working.
any ideas?

Many Photoshop extensions are not compatible with Photoshop CC 2014 for Adobe removed support for Flash Panels in CC 2014. Many extensions panels are flash based. Check with the developer to see if their blendmein extension works with CC 2014.
Adobe does not maintain Photoshop so it backward compatible with prior versions of Photoshop. This brakes things like action scripts plugins extensions etc. Keep old version of Photoshop installed....

After upgrading to the latest version of Firefox, my Logitech mouse works, but NOT the thumb button, (which I have configured to be a double click).

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

• Logitech mouse right click relaunching Finder

I have been having a problem with any and all of my Logitech devices on my MacPro. Every once in a while (I hate every once in a while stuff!!) when I right click when I am in Finder or in a regular window on the desktop, the Finder re-launches immediately. This happens as soon as I right click, but only, it seems, when the machine has sat idle for 10 or more minutes. It can happen a few times a day. It resets any open Finder windows to the default home folder. In all programs, the right click works perfectly as it should.
The Apple mighty mouse doesn't do this at all, but two LX7's, my MX700, and MX1000, along with an old wired Logitech mouse I have all do the same thing. I have tried dumping the logitech prefs, uninstalling the control software and reinstalling it after a restart, using the factory default settings, and it still happens. The only thing I can relate it to is that it seems to have started when I tested out a Logitech keyboard on this machine, but then went back to my Apple board. I have also done a system reinstall since, and the problem is still there. Any suggestions that might help me nail this thing?

I see what you are getting at now, but the same mouse (and for that matter all the other Logitech mouses) work fine on my laptop and wife's iMac using the same LCC and mac OS (intel and ppc).
It has to be some level of command conflict between the OS and the LCC, but what and why only on this one computer, and what can be done to remedy it. Yes , if you only use the Mac OS software, there is no problem, but as it is unique to this computer, there is something somewhere that is causing this. The question is "what can I purge/change" to correct this. It could be in the LCC, it could be in the OS.
Thanks; Rick

• Logitech mouse causes shaking?

I have a Logitech® MX™1000 Laser Cordless Mouse. A few days ago, iTunes and Palm Desktop started shaking, as though there were an earthquake. I ran DiskWarrior and rebooted, but it did not help the problem. I tried using my Wacom tablet, but it had the same problem. When I switched to the Apple Mouse, the problem abated.
Any ideas on how this can be fixed? I have the latest Logitech drivers already.

I just ran across you post and I've had this problem as well with my Logitech Laster MX1000.
I love the mouse- cordless and all, but with my Intel MacBook have to wait for Logitech Control Center 2.1.4 (June 2007 maybe?) according to Logitech.
But I get this problem you describe and others too -- it might have to do with the location / position of the recharger (transmitter) - I had mine close to my router / internet modem-- think maybe there is some interference.
It gets bad sometimes-- cannot have the menus highlight; the dock freezes-- all cured by just unplugging the Logitech mouse and using the trackpad.
Perhaps others can comment here?
Thanks,

• Logitech mouse wheel stopped working

Hello,
I had this mouse for a long time. It's a Logitech Cordless Optical mouse connected to a Linksys KVM (I share with 4 different computers). Last week the mouse scroll wheel stooped working. I tried another Logitech mouse (G9) to directly to the USB of my Mac and the mouse wheel scrolls fine.
Now the problem's the old mouse wheel works fine on my other computers. I tried turning the KVM off, resetting the IR unit, and of course rebooting my mac. Nothing worked. The odd thing is, if I connect the old mouse directly to the Mac, it works OK.
I really hate the G9. I'd rather stick with my current mouse, but I need the scroll wheel. Any ideas?

Your profile lists one of the computers as "Hackintosh." Because OS X is licensed for use only with Apple branded computers & the Discussions Terms of Use prohibit discussing illegal uses of software, & equally importantly because we have no idea of how running a hacked version of OS X on non-Apple hardware might be a part of your problem, we cannot help you.
Sorry.

• Logitech mouse scroll not as smooth as trackpad

Hello all, I have Logitech G700s mouse for my new Macbook pro 15" Retina (2013 Haswell).
When using my Macbook with the built in trackpad, scrolling is super smoth and very easy on the eyes. But when using the Logitech mouse, scrolling is very (choppy, stuttery, jitter - whatever you want to call it) just not as smooth as the trackpad. Is anybody else having the same problem?
I tried with and without Logitech drivers. Logitech drivers actually did help a bit, but scrolling still not as smooth as the trackpad. Is this something I will just have to deal with? or is there a fix? is it the mouse problem?
Any help would be appreciated.

Right Logitech mice aren't the best at scrolling. I have 2 of their mice and both work OK accept for the scroll wheel. They work but they jump around. Moving the wheel forward sometimes makes the system think it is first moving backwards. I find the Wheel scroll detents very weak and any pressure applied to it can cause it to think it has move forwards or backwards without really moving it at all. Just something I have gotten use to over the 2+ years I used them.

• Does logitech mouses work at os x

Does a bluetooth logitech mouse generally work on os x without any software problems?

Ask Logitech if you have a problem. I've used Logitech mice for decades on my Macs, but I don't use a BT mouse.

• F9 and F10 keys and my Logitech Mouse

I've been using the wireless Logitech Mouse with my iMac G5 and have got all my buttons set juuuuuust the way I like them. I recently got the PB G4 17" and I am trying to set my mouse buttons like my iMac G5. I having problems with the F9 and F10 keys ( all windows and application windows ) When I press them the keyboard illumination thingy pops up. If I look in keyboard shortcuts in system preferences F9 and F10 are set for all windows and app. windows?? two actions for the same buttons??

To use the F9 and F10 keys to control Exposé, you need to do one of two things:
- Press the fn key with F9 and/or F10
- Go to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard and check the box 'Use F1-F12 keys to control software features' and use the fn key with F9 and/or F10 to control the keyboard backlighting. If you check that box, then Exposé will behave in the same way it does on your iMac wrt your mouse buttons.

• 10.5.2 crasing while using wireless logitech mouse

Having just installed the 10.5.2 update my mac was constantly crashing. Unable to work out what was wrong, I had a suspicion it was my mouse. After disconnecting my Logitech trackball, everything was fine. My colleague who is also running 10.5.2 and a logitech mouse experienced the same problem all yesterday. I'd submit this issues at the logitech site - though there is nowhere to do so.

Hi hunthunthunt-
greetings and welcome to the Apple boards
Good job troubleshooting. Is this a BlueTooth device or does it use a dongle?
Unfortunately it is up to Logitech to release updated compatible drivers. Is there anything on the support section of the site that refers to updated drivers?
