Logon Architecture in SAP Netweaver 7.3

Hi
Can someone tell me or share the architecture of Logon in SAP Netweaver 7.3
Regards
JM

The data exchanged between the browser and the portal depends on the logon type. For instance:
- SPNego / Kerberos: as the user is already authenticated in the computer domain, the browser only sends a token to the portal. That token is used to verify the identity of the user
- UIDPW: as the user enters his credentials, the user Id and password are sent
- Logon ticket: when the user is already logged on to a portal and a trust is established, only the logon ticket gets exchanged.
To get a more detailed insight look at your logon case and check the SAP Help documentation for a start. That should help you getting started. To find out what exactly happens during the logon, use a tool like firebug to check the traffic and the web diagtool to get more details.

  • Single Sign on in a 3 tier architecture between SAP Netweaver CE and R/3

    Hi All,
    I am trying to implement SSO using SAP logon tickets in a 3 tier architecture between NW CE and R/3. But so far I have not been able to crack this.
    Let me describe the scenario in detail:
    We have two Java EE applications on Netweaver CE7.2 Application Server:
    1. UI: Just handles all the UI logic : js, jsp, css, html, extjs .It calls the Business Layer Java EE application to get data from back-end systems.
    2. Business Layer: Calls R/3 SOAP services does some processing on them and exposes the data back to the UI via a Restful JSON service (implemented using Java Spring framework)
    Both UI and Business Layer Java EE applications define login modules to be used for SAP logon tickets. So the architecture is like this:
    UI-RESTfull-->Business LayerSOAP->ABAP R/3
    So ideally when the UI link is clicked it prompts the user for authentication (uses CE UME) and then the UI applications calls the Business Layer which then calls R/3. This unfortunately doesn't work. The authentication between UI and Business Layer Application fails.
    However if you remove the Business Layer Java EE application and call the SOAP service directly from the UI. SAP logon tickets starts working.
    So I have been able to make SAP logon tickets work with the following 2 tier architecture:
    UI---SOAP--->R/3
    So my Question is:
    Is there a way to use SAP logon tickets in a 3 tier architecture between NW CE and R/3 (For the scenario described above)? Any help/pointers/documentation links would be great

    Hey Martin,
    To enable SSO I updated web.xml and engine-j2ee.xml for both UI and Business Layer application according to the login module stacks defined (the first one) in the following link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_NW70EHP1/helpdata/en/04/120b40c6c01961e10000000a155106/content.htm
    Initially both UI and Business Layer had the same entries for web.xml and engine.xml. But since this was not working I did all kinds of testing. For UI i used FORM based authentication and for Business Layer I was using "BASIC" authentication.
    I tested the following Scenarios:
    1. Without any changes to the above XML files: The Business layer rejects any requests from the UI . I checked the Browser and "MYSAPSSO2" cookie was created. Somehow UI doesnt use this to call Business Layer. Or the Business Layer rejects the token itself
    2. I removed authentication from the Business Layer application (Web.xml) keeping the UI same: The call went to R3 but returned a "UnAuthorized" error back. In this case also at the browser level "MYSAPSSO2" token was created but was not used by the business layer to call R3.
    3. The did all sorts of permutation and combination with the sample login modules provided (See link above) on both UI and Business Layer application . Nothing worked. All combinations led to two results which were the same as 1 and 2
    It seems all this is happening because of another application in between UI and R3.
    Hope this Clarifies.
    Thanks,
    Dhannajay

  • Architecture of SAP Netweaver 7.1 Mobile

    Hi @all,
    it is about the DOE. How the DOE will be implemented? It is with JAVA or ABAP.
    And in which Stack the DOE runs?
    I am a bit mazed, because i thought the it runs on the JAVA Stack. But now i read that there is a as abap 7.1 with the DOE.
    Could anyone help me about this topic? It is for my diploma thesis and i have to develop a mobile application.
    Thanks
    Hassan

    Hi Hassan,
    DOE is a pure AS ABAP component. There is no Java stack in it. All the distribution and management capabilities of the DOE are in the ABAP stack. When developing an application, there are two development activities:
    1. Developing the middleware content
    2. Developing the mobile device application
    The middleware content can be mostly modelled (in fact, more than 90 % is modelling based). The coding comes during back-end integration, when you have to develop the BAPIs.
    The mobile device application can be developed using any technology - Java, Linux, iPhone, anything. We are device-agnostic.
    In addition, we provide one environment, in which you can develop applications using Web Dynpro for Java (WDJ). But, we are not restricted to applications built using WDJ.

  • SAP Netweaver 7.02 ABAP Trial Version - Password logon no longer possible

    Hi All,
    i have successfully installed a Trial version of SAP Netweaver 7.02 and GUI. Now some troubles  occur when i try to login using the SAP GUI. Now i see an error message: "Password logon nolonger possible - too many failed attempts". Have anyone got this problem? I tried to login with BCUSER(pwd: abcd1234), DDIC (Installer PW: 19920706) and SAP (Installer PW: 06071992)*
    but all were unsuccesfull.
    Thanks for any tips

    Hi,
    try deleting that entry from usr02 at the database level.
    delete from usr02 where mandt='<client>' and bname='SAP*';
    This will unlock the sap* user and reset its password back to 'pass'.
    Then you will be able to reset DDIC when logged on as SAP*.
    Sometimes the SAP* user is not activated. There is a profile parameter
    login/no_automatic_user_sapstar - the value for this should be 0 if
    want to be able to logon to the system with the user SAP* . Make sure
    this profile parameter is set in the INSTANCE profile.
    Remember if you update this profile or include it in the system
    profiles you will need to bounce the server for it to take effect.
    hope this helps.

    Vincent

  • Logon ID for New SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial Version SP12

    Hello everyone.
    I have installed SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial successfully in my NB, but i have no logon ID,does anybody know if there is public logon ID, appreciate. thanks in advance.
    Btw, i also have tried to apply license via SAP official web site, but it asks me to provide
    my hardware key, i don't know how to know my hareware key, so apply fail.

    Hello,
    What do you mean with logon ID?
    The users you can use are listed on the logon page together with their passwords. Once you are logged in, you can find out your hardware key by using transaction SLICENSE. I propose you read through the 'Getting Started" section in the HTML pages, included in the package. There are the basic steps described.

  • Disable multiple logon from SAP NetWeaver Portal

    Hello
    I'd like if there is a parameter inside SAP NetWeaver Poral to disable multiple logon with the same account(like login/disable_multi_gui_login for ABAP).
    Thanks in advace
    Regards
    Stéphane

    Look at service.sap.com
    This authentication only works for S-users (as well as SAP employees) who are active accounts in SAP's AD. That works via the internet for SAP customers and employers (e.g. from each other's networks but their own devices) as well.
    With a SAML IdP you have a lot more flexibility in choosing the source of the first authentication and managing complex access rights through to the backend.
    But you are correct: if there are not too many users to manage and they are smart enough to periodically generate a client certificate and they are physically attached to their own personal devices, then a Certificate Authority or even Open SSL solution is another option.
    I guess it would be usefull to know how many users there are and how the authentication through from the NW portal to the ABAP backend system is going to replaced. Also how much user context information is needed on the backend system still, if at all anymore.
    I think we need more information here still before we can safely conclude that a client certificate is appropriate for an internet scenario.
    I am more worried about all those issues like stolen certificate and so on.
    From my SDN experiences it is more often a case of people loosing their certificates and user IDs than one of other people stealing them..    The vaste majority of the 2 million users are using passwords and those who are active seem to be happy with the password reset service --> also an option.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • [SAP NetWeaver 2004] Can't logon in Visual Administrator

    Hi community,
    I can't login in Visual Administrator with SAP NetWeaver 2004 - Trial Version on Linux (NW4)
    I try to logon using J2EE_ADMIN/ADMIN as login/password but when I try to connect it remains in connecting state.
    In the logs I can see the following error:
    Caller J2EE_ADMIN not authorized, only role administrators is allowed to access JMX
    User J2EE_ADMIN on SU01 transaction seems correctly configured, and has the role SAP_J2EE_ADMIN
    Where do I go wrong?
    Thanks, Valerio
    PS I know this release is old and not supported but it's not so resource-demanding as the 2004s version

    Hi Valerio,
    I think you dont have correct password maintained in the secure store. please try this.
    1. check if j2ee_admin is locked or not in SU01.
    2. if you know j2ee_admin's correct password
    - go to configtool, by running /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS00/j2ee/configtool/configtool.sh
    - in the secure store maintain the password of j2ee_admin in the field "admin/password/<SID>"
    - set and this will ask you to restart java cluster.
    - restart the java cluster by going through SMICM tcode in ABAP side. SMICM > Adminstration > J2ee cluster global > send hard shutdown > with restart.
    Hope this helps.
    Debasis.

  • Integrating a Java web application into the SAP NetWeaver Portal

    Hello experts,
    We have a requirement to integrate a Java based web application into the SAP NetWeaver Portal using iView/iFrame technology. The Java based web application is completely independent from the SAP environment but should be displayed as part of the SAP Portal environment. The other requirement is the main navigation menu for the Java based web application should be configured and provided in the SAP Portal.
    Any pointers on how exactly this can be done would be of great help.
    Also how can the SSO (Single-Sign-On) to the Java application be implemented so that the user can logon to the java application through the portal without providing the user credentials again.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I think you can use URL iviews to integrate your java web application with EP. you have the option of doing SSO with the application as well.
    Have a look at the sap help material

  • Application testing using HttpUnit on SAP netweaver EP

    Hi,
    I'm trying to perform blacbox testing on login page of an application running on SAP netweaver server.
    The code in the testClass looks like this:
    URL serverUrl = new URL(url);
            WebConversation conversation = new WebConversation();
            WebRequest request = new GetMethodWebRequest(serverUrl,"");
            WebResponse response = conversation.getResponse(request);

    WebForm[] logonform = response.getForms();
    System.out.println("login form."+logonform.length+".");The length parameter above returns 0.
    However when the same Html code for login page is run under IIS server, the length parameter is 2, which is correct.

    Hi Kishor,
    My code in Httpunit testClass looks like this:
    URL serverUrl = new URL(url);
    WebConversation conversation = new WebConversation();
    WebRequest request = new GetMethodWebRequest(serverUrl,"");
    WebResponse response = conversation.getResponse(request);
    assertNotNull("response of url: " + url, response);
    WebForm[] logonform = response.getForms();
    System.out.println("Get no of forms-->"logonform.length".");
    Here, I want to retrieve the number of forms in the page. I'm getting '0' as the output of "logonform.length" when trying on SAP EP server, whereas I used same html source to create a web page on local machine (windows xp sp 2)and tried to run on local server(IIS), the output is as expected i.e. 2.
    If I try to use WebTable table = response.getTables()[0];
    then the text associated with the table is shown as "iView is not compatible with your browser, operating system or device. Contact your system administrator"
    My IE version is 6.0.
    Is there some problem with the HttpUnit classed I'm using?

  • SAP Netweaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version not working

    Hello,
    I am trying to load SAP Netweaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version on VISTA.  I am having two problems.
    1.  When I try to start NSP using SAP Management Console, I am prompted with a pop-up window labeled "WebService Authentication."  The first parameter for User is automatically filled with value Home-PC\RESkater.  It also asks me to enter Password.  I do not know what to enter for password.
    2.  After I installed the SAP Netweaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version, the download instructions says that I can sign on to system via web gui using  http://localhost:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=000.  However, I receive the error message stating "local host is not set up to establish a connection on port 8000 with this computer."
    Can anybody give me any helpful tips that might resolve these issues for me?
    Thanks.

    Hi Rae,
    Regarding issue 1, you to startup NSP, you need to remove the Home-PC\ portion of the username.  So your username should only be RESkater.  Then the password should be the same as the password that you use to logon onto the operating system for user RESkater.
    Hope this helps...

I want to know which changes the developers made an why they did it? What are the advantages of the new Netweaver system? Are there disadvantages? Does someone have some links to articles which deal with those questions? Thanks.
