Logon to load balancing group

Hi,
I have configured logon  groups. I could connect to this group from PC where i have perrmisions to edit c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\services file. In this file i inserted sapmsPRD  3606/tcp. That's works. But problem is in other PC, there no perrmisions to edit this file, and i couldn't connect to configured logon group. So, how i could solve this problem with no perrmisions to edit service file ?

One possibility we use is a direct call of sapgui in an icon like this:
C:\Program Files\SAPgui\SAPgui.exe /M/server/S/3600/G/SPACE
This works without any additional entries in etc/services.

  • Windows 7: Service unknown when using load balancing group

I try to run SAP GUI 7.10 on Windows 7. I use a load balancing group to connect to the server. The direct access to one of our cluster nodes works ok, but when clicking the link to the load balancing group says "load balancing error on logon 88: connection to messaging server not possible (rc=9)" (translated from german).
What is happening here? It works good on Windows XP. Do I have to use another saplogon.ini or something?
    Thanks for any help!

Is it ok to deactivate UAC in a company?
That's something your M$ group must decide.
It sounds like a good security feature but as we see here it´s a pain in the @$$ for administrators...
Well - the purpose of it is to disable the ability of malware and virusses spreading around. I consider it as a security breach if a local user is able to simply copy files to the operating systems main directory. A user working with a frontend PC should not have local administrator rights at all; all software requiring this badly designed.
If you use the SAPGUI installation server you can distribute services, saplogon.ini etc. using the installation server provided service without the need of users having to have local administration rights:
Note 512040 - Distributing "services", "saplogon.ini", and similar files.
I just think that "administrators" must learn to do work properly as designed with operating systems without just "copying files around" in system directories (and I don't exclude me in that context).

  • SUNW.gds for jboss + Load Balancing Group = Failed to connect to host ...

    Hi all!
In a simple two node cluster (Solaris cluster 3.2) with quorum server I've created a resource for jboss 5.1.0 using SUNW.gds. It is supposed to be load-balanced. To achieve that I've followed instructions from [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18728_01/html/821-1258/gds-25.html]
The command I've used to create the resource was:
    clresource create -g scalable-rg -t SUNW.gds -p resource_dependencies=vip -p Scalable=TRUE -p Start_timeout=400 -p Stop_timeout=400 -p Probe_timeout=30 -p Port_list=8080/tcp -p Start_command="/opt/jboss-5.1.0.GA/bin/run.sh -b 0.0.0.0" -p Child_mon_level=0 -p Failover_enabled=TRUE -p Stop_signal=15 -p Load_balancing_policy=LB_STICKY_WILD jboss-rs
The whole configuration seems to work, but when the second node joins cluster, resource with jboss can't bind to shared ip address. There are many entries in /var/adm/messages like:
Jan 19 13:46:35 play SC[,SUNW.gds:6,scalable-rg,jboss-rs,gds_svc_start]: [ID 141062 daemon.error] Failed to connect to host vip and port 8080: Connection refused.

However, after some time, it finally somehow binds to shared ip and port 8080.
Is this something I should be worried about? Or it is a normal thing, since e.g. it takes some time to bring the interface with shared ip up? I've never had to install such configuration, and I don't have neither intuiton, nor the experience. Any help would be very appreciated.
    Thanks a bunch,

Hi, a couple of things to check:
    - did you check that both JBOSS instances were up and running?
    - can you check in the logs (on both nodes) when a message saying something like "service .... registered..." showed up. This should show up for both JBOSS instances. From the time of the second "registered" message, the load balancer should sending incoming requests to both instances using its distribution mechanism
    - did you check the vip address on one of the nodes on an external interface and on lo0 on the other
    - connection refused looks like a server problem; can you connect to the JBOSS instance locally?

  • Load balancing after ECC 6.0 upgrade

    Hi
I we this configuration on ECC 6.0 upgrade:
    SAPGUI 7.10
    SAP_BASIS  700  Patch level 15
    SAPportal ESS
    Webdispatcher Installed
    Internal ITS
    Single sign-on
Can somebody assist as with identifying the problem with load balancing (PUBLIC) E.g. When running ESS remuneration package via the Sapportal. we have configured ITS-Based GUI Services on transaction SICF for customised ZESS_PZ11PDF service.
When we have load balancing group on the load balancing does not work, because  I  see somebodyu2019s payslip
but when using one app server I see my own payslip. Please help.

    Hi PR,
Please take a look at the following link:-
    http://help.sap.com/SAPHELP_NWPI71/helpdata/EN/28/75153a1a5b4c2de10000000a114084/frameset.htm
"You can only use the SAP message server for HTTP load distribution if
the browser is the direct client of the message server. If another
component lies between the client (browser) and the message server, (for
example, the portal), you cannot use the message server to distribute
    the load."
When using the External ITS you could balance the load using the message server and logon groups. In 700 this functionality is not present if there is not a direct connection to the client (Firefox or IE). So you will have to install the webdispatcher to balance the load.
    Hope this helps

  • Network Load Balancing without DNS

    Good day,
I am planning on deploying four 2008R2 RDS servers using Microsoft's NLB in a Hyper-V virtual environment.  My question is do I require AD DNS to be able to create & access this load balanced group of servers?  My challenge is that I have 20
remote offices that connect via RDP to RDS servers at our main site.  The remote offices connect to the main site over the Internet via VPN, and the PC's in these remote sites aren't members of the main site's AD environment (due to bandwidth constraints).
DNS at the main site can include the name of the NLB group of servers, but this wouldn't be available at any of these remote offices.
    My two questions are:
1.) Can I connect from any of my remote sites to the NLB servers at the main site via virtual IP address of the NLB?
2.) Can I connect to INDIVIDUAL servers (for maintenance reasons) that belong to the NLB servers via their assigned IP address?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Load balancing error 88

    Dear all,
We are suddenly  facing a problem in the PRD system. There user are getting the below error and if they restart there system than  it is solved

few days back  We have upgrade the system from ecc5 to ecc6 and its only
Please suggest why the error is coming and how to solved it
    Regards,

check the /etc/services file for a proper port setting for the R/3 message server "sapms<sid>" at 36xx. You can try connecting the SAPgw directly to the dispatcher at port 32xx where XX is the instance number. If that connection is good, then it appears to be a logon load balancing configuration problem which uses the message server.
This is usually because it cannot connect to the message server. Please check the dev_ms for any errors. if it is intermittent it is likely to be a network problem ( see note 500235 Network Diagnosis with NIPING.
    Check following SApnotes :

  • Create Logon Group on EP for Load Balancing

    Dear All,
How to create logon group on EP.
This group will include group of dialogue instance systems.
    (di01, di02, di03)
    Current landscape is
all these 3 di are under CI(production system).

Now I want whenever user access EP they should not login to PRD sys but thy shd login to any one of the DI SYS.

please believe me, the portal has no such mechanism itself for this kind of load balancing - it is ALWAYS done by an external solution such as web dispatcher.
In a portal cluster the CI may or may not have the SCS installed (it depends on the specific installation) but each node has its own inbuilt load balancing via the dispatcher - however this is purely round robin not based on any kind of exta intelligence.
Although portal can be installed in a cluster, any nodes (app or otherwise) can be treated as individual servers.  In order to balance load across any / all servers in this configuration an external mechanism must be employed.
Chances are anyone claiming to have done load balancing this way without hardware is almost certainly using the web dispatcher as an additional layer.

  • Error while configuring logon load balancing

    Hi,
I am trring to configure logon load balancing in cluster environment.
I had created the logon group using T-Code SMLG and assigned the message server to logon group.
I am using SAP GUI 720.
In the front end system, i had added the host file entry as well as added u201Csapma<SID>  3600/tcpu201D as my CI instance number is 00.
I had created u201Csapmsg.iniu201D and put the entries as below based on sapnote 38119

System ID 1>=<Name or IP address of message server 1>
    Ex: <SID>=x.x.x.x
         <SID>=x.x.x.x
    Message Server Description
    <System ID 1>=<Description of message server 1>
    Ex: <SID>=CI
But while selecting u201CGroup/Server Selectionu201D I am getting error   u201CError: partner x.x.x.x:sapms<SID> not reached u201C.
On the logon pad I had given the following information:
    Description: PRD
    System ID: <SID>
Message Server: IP address of CI package
I am not able to find the exact reason of the error and how to proceed to resolve the error.

  • Logon Load Balancing

    Hello,
I have installed PI 7.1 on Oracle with an additional application server instance (DI).
In Central Instance I have created two logon groups and in my services file i have added "sapms<SID>    3640/tcp and  sapms<SID>   3642/tcp" of the following Directory "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc". Now I am able to see the created groups in my Logon Pad. i have added CI as PIP1 and DI as PIP2 in my logon pad and can login to the respective server.
Could you please guide if this is sufficient for load balancing.
I have another situation:  Using the logon pad, i will try to login into the Dialog Instance (PIP2). If PIP2 is down, will it direct me to login into Central instance(PIP1)? If not, how to achieve this.
    Thanks,
    Subbu

    Hello Mark,
Why did you use a different system number for the second application server?
My CI number is 40 and my dialog instance number is 42..do i need to change anything whih i have placed in Services file.
Mark, i have stopped the DI and i tried logging into the logon group for DI but it has not directed me to login into CI but inturn has thrown me an error that DI is down.
Please suggest me to achieve the above condition.

  • Logon load balancing issue

    Hello Experts,
We are having an issue with our load balancing.
We have 4 app servers ,2 for batch and 2 for dialog.
Dialog are used by SICF service for user to login. But the load is goign to the batch servers as well.Batch servers are running with different logon group and dialog( sicf) with another logon group.
The load is distributed by Webdispatcher to these servers.
Can you please provide some hint whe the load is going to another servers which are not meant to handle dialog requests.
    Regards
    Ajay Sandal

    Hi Ajay,
I suspect your dialog request would be distributing from web-dispatcher.
Web-dispatcher just performs its own function, it would not see if you have configured two as a dialog server and two for batch jobs.
In case WD sees available diag WPs, on any of these servers, it will distribute the request to available ones.
If you want to check the same, then deactivate batch job servers from WD.
For batch job load balancing, I would suggest you to use logon group for batch jobs.
To do the same call transaction SM61 -> Job-servergruppen -> create a logon group and assign batch servers.
In turn to distribute batch jobs, you would need to configure batch servers (created in SM61) while scheduling batch job.
Let me know if this helps, or your observation so that we could provide some more input on this issue.
    Cheers !!!

  • Load balancing by RZ12 Serger Groups

    Hi.
I'm trying to get some knowledge about this subject for my prod. BI system. Maybe some of you, almighty masters of SAP administration (standard flattering), could give me a hand
Here's the situation: We've a BI system (NW 7.0 ehp1) with 4 servers ( CI + 3 appl.serv). We've defined both a server group (RZ12) and a logon group (SMLG), with the same name, for bw load purposes. That means mostly background and dialog processes, with less number of end-user logons, so I'm focusing in the Server Group configuration.
Now, the problem: Basically, the number of processes are not properly balanced. Servers 1 and 2 get about the 80% of the work, while other two, 3 and 4 just the other 20%.
I've been reading and investigating but most of the documentation refeers to the logon group load balancing algorithms in SMLG, by the setting of group-dependnet atribute "Ext. RFC-enabled", with it's corresponding "Fab.Typ" algorithm
What i want to know if it's there's a way to know that balancing algorithm/method it's being used in RZ12 rfc server groups, and how can I verify and even modify that behaviour.
    I've been checking this notes:
Note 593058 - New RFC load balancing procedure
Note 1508504 - Load balancing in background processing
    Also:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/a4/db833d4c47ea4ea1a9b7af3c535ff2/content.htm
Any suggestion or informacion will be gladly wellcomed. Dont hesitate in requesting me more detailed information.
    Thanks in advance and regards.
    Armando.

    Hi,
Are you using load balancing in RFC connections as well ?
    Thanks

  • Load balancing algorithm for groups in RZ12

    Hello,
I would like to know the load balancing algorithm for groups defined in RZ12.
I know that log on groups for external connections are administered via SMLG and table RZLLICLASS.
I also know that RFC resources can be managed for RFC logon groups via RZ12.
    Kind regards,

    Hello!
Found this post while searching information about RFC and Logon Groups...
I have some mess in my head with SMLG functionality and RZ12. As I know SMLG we can use to distribute users to application server instances, it gives us good achievement in performance. With RZ12 we can distribute RFC connection of particular job for parallel execution on predefined application server. With SMQS and SMQR transaction we can set "Name of AS Group" to route RFC-execution on certain server or servers. But I have troubles with understanding. Imagine, we set up group 1 with 2 servers (name it RFC_GR1), and group 2 with another 2 servers (name it RFC_GR2). How could qRFC scheduler decide on which RFC server group (RFC_GR1 or RFC_GR2) distribute RFC-execution? How to interact "Name of AS Group" with RFC groups if we can set only one group?   How could we distribute RFC-execution depending on our logon groups (smlg)? We would like to distribute RFC depending on SAP logon groups. Is it possible? Or do I compare apple and orange?

  • Logon Load Balancing error

    Hi
I am trying to setup Logon Load Balancing for our ERP system, I have setup the logon groups in TX SMLG, the landscape consists of DB server app1 and app2, I have created a logon group for app1 and logon group for app2, I have then created a new system entry in the SAP Logon Pad under Group/Server Selection, here I have a problem in that when I enter the message server I get a message saying Error: hostname <message server> unknown, however when I enter the ip address for the message server I get the list of logon groups appear, however, I have entered the sapmsS02 3600/tcp setting within the services file, I have also added the ipaddress and the hostname of the message server into the hosts file, but I still cannot get the hostname to work within the message server.  When I test the logon I get the error message Logon Balancing Error 88: Cannot connect to message server (rc=9), I have searched the net and most people just suggest entering the details into the services file and host file, also a sap note which suggests issues within the registry for Microsft MSN which I have checked and still have the same issue.
Does anyone have anymore ideas as to what this could be or what to try next?
    Thanks for your help
    Jay

    Dear Jay,
It is not the service that can not be resolved, that is translated into an IP address, but the hostname. It depends on your system and the way in which it does hostname resolution, whether the hosts file will be used at all. So please check with the keyword 'hostname resolution' on how to set this up on your landscape.
    Best Regards,
    Tim
