Long fields in multicube

hi,
I am trying to make an multicube on top of two DSOs.
One is ZCCA_O09 (copy of 0CCA_O09).
When I am in field selection screen in multicube maintenance there is no 0CO_ITEM_TX field in possible entries screen.
Is it forbidden to include such a long fields in multicubes???
Can somebody help with this?
Regards,
Andrzej

hi,
so what do you suggest if I would like to have it in multicube.
Is it OK if I switch off this attribute?
Regards,
Andrzej

  • Display Long field Description in 2 lines in Header when using REUSE_ALV_HI

    Hi,
      I am using REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY .
    I need to have 2 lines in the header to display  long field descriptions like
    Ex   Shipment Notification Idoc or Billing Document Cancel  should appear as
    Shipment Notification       Billing Document
    Idoc                                        Cancel
    Is there a way of doing this when calling the above ALV function?
    Thanks
    Prashant

    Hi Prashanta ,
    We can give headers in ALV using short/medium/long text.
    And this comes in one line. You can use short/medium text, if possible.
    Hence , having 2 lines in the header to display long field descriptions is not possible.
    Hope this helps you.

  • MaxDB: Table with many LONG fields does not allow an INSERT: ...?

    Hi,
    I have a table with many LONG fields (28). So far, everythings works fine.
    However, if I add another LONG field I cannot insert a dataset anymore
    (29 LONG fields).
    Does there exist a MaxDB parameter or anything else I can change to make inserts possible again?
    Thanks in advance

    Since explicitely specifying all values for an insert is a good idea anyhow (you can see directly, what value the new tupel will have), you may want to change your code to this.

    You are right. This table looks a bit strange. The story behind it is: Each crystal report in the application has a few textblocks which are the same for all the e.g. persons the e.g. letter is created for. Principally, the textblocks could be directy added to the crystal report. However, as it is often the case, these textblocks may change once in a while. Thus, I put the texts of the textblock into this "strange" db table (one row for each report, one field for each textblock, the name of the report is given by "ztb_nameofreport"). And the application offers a menue by which these textblocks can be changed. Of course, the fields in the table could be of type CHAR, but LONG has the advantage that I do not have to think about the length of the field, since sometime the texts are short and sometimes they are really long.
    (These texts would blow up the sql select command of the crystal report very much if they were integrated into the this select command. Thus it is realized in another way: the texts are read before the crystal report is loaded, then the texts are "given" to the crystal report (by its parameters), and finally the crystal report is loaded.)

    The customer still has Win98 clients. MaxDB odbc driver 7.5.00.26 does not work for them. I got the hint to use odbc driver 7.3 (see [lists.mysql.com/maxdb/25667|lists.mysql.com/maxdb/25667]). Do MaxDB 7.6 and odbc driver 7.3 work together?
    All Win98 clients may be replaced by WinXP clients in the near future. Then, an upgrade may be reasonable.

    In the first MaxDB version I used, schemas were not available. I haven't changed it afterwards. Is there an easy way to "move an existing table into a new schema"?

  • Oracle Provider for oledb 8i & 9i truncates LONG fields

    Anyone,
    I have a situation where my Oracle oledb driver truncates LONG fields.
    My application that runs queries using the oracle oledb driver.
    The query is a join between two tables and includes a LONG as one of the fields retrieved.
    When the Cursor Location is set to server the data returned is truncated.
    Setting the Cursor Location to Client I can retrieve the complete data under specific cursor and lock types. The Microsoft driver for oracle does not truncate.
    Note that a simple query without the join does not cause the problem.
    Has anyone else noticed this? I know its quite specific.
    Thanks
    Stuart

    Hi,
    I've got the same problem, i.e. SELECT a LONG RAW column from
    joined/unioned tables truncates the column (via OraOleDB).
    Unfortunately, setting ChunkSize to 65535 does not help me,
    because data in a column are longer, then 64K (and are truncated
    to 64K). Please, have you found any solution?
    Thanks for any reply ..

    The problem is only 80 char's inserted in to the LONG FIELD which happend to me when i run the same insert statement from SQL plus.
    Here is the code....
    java.io.File inputFile = new java.io.File("input.txt");
    int inputFileLen = (int) inputFile.length();
    java.io.InputStream ipStream = new java.io.FileInputStream(inputFile);
    System.out.println(inputFileLen);
    PreparedStatement myStmt = conn.prepareStatement("insert into LONG_EXAMPLE (notes,name)values(?,?)");
    myStmt.setAsciiStream(1, ipStream, inputFileLen);
    myStmt.setString(2,"Steve");
    int res = myStmt.executeUpdate();
    myStmt.close();
    Note : Here the size of the input.txt 250 bytes , 1KB.
    Thanks in advance......:-)

    I had a similar requirement to you and put the code on a push button. In my case the reports are being run interactively to the screen and then printed, and I have no way to know whether the report had actually been printed, so we rely on the user pressing the button. Of course there is a danger that the user forgets to press the button, but in our situation that would not be disasterous. Whatever method is used, I don't think there is any way to be sure that it has actually come out of the printer.

    Thanks

    As I understand, 1 BLOB does have BINARY data. And, you have to copy that to LONG RAW and not just LONG. The unwanted cahracters are those BINARY data. ( They might be really of some use ! )

    I want to search for a word e.g. "supplier" in this LONG field
    When I enter the statement
    select * from MANMESS where MESSAGE like '%supplier%';
    it gives an error message.
    I guess it is because MESSAGE is a LONG field and needs to be given special treatment
    Is there an alternative to so the same task?
    Thanks in Advance
    Paresh

  • How to reference LONG field in trigger

    I am trying to create a trigger (update and delete) for auditing purposes. The source table has a long field and I need to insert all columns (which includes the long field) into an audit table if any column in the source record changes or if the source record is deleted. I cannot reference :old.longfield or do a select into.
    If anyone has a suggestion or has done it in the past, please email me at [email protected] or post an answer.
    Thank You so much for your help !!!!!

    As you have noticed, you cannot reference the value of a LONG column using :old/:new in a trigger. The work around is to instead process your audit information (including the LONG value) in an after statement trigger. Here is an example to get you started:

  • 8i+WebDB HELP:How to make longer fields for "News items"

    8i+WebDB
    How do I create longer fields for my "News items"?
    If I try to publish long sized News I receive an Error:
    "Ora-02005: Implisit(-1) Length not valid for this bind or define
    data type". I HAVE chosen "long field" settings in the DB

    Are there any parameter settings in WebDB to allow longer

    Hi, Lu:
    If I understand your question correctly, you want to modify the FSG of recociliation account of Vendor/Customer to make sure Cost Center/WBS field display in transaction F-22/F-43 for example, right?
    I am not sure whether it is possible, I also tried in ECC6.0 but failed to show these two fields. And I think that doesn't make sense to assign CO object to AP/AR reconciliation account, but assign it to Revenue/Expense account in following line items.
    And You can use New General Ledger functionality Document Splitting to derive corresponding CO object information to Reconciliation Account line item, but it is enabled only in General Ledger level, not in subledger level.
    If you find any other meaningful solution, please also share with us.
    Thanks & BR, Lawrence

  • Problem with LONG FIELD

    Hello,
    In HTML DB, I would like to insert a line in a table with a database link (in a PL/SQL Block).
    Description of my table :
    Nom NULL ? Type
    LCOMMENTID NOT NULL NUMBER(10)
    DTLASTMODIF DATE
    MEMCOMMENT LONG
    TABLENAME VARCHAR2(18)
    My command :
    insert into amcomment@B_ASSET.WORLD values (1,'01/01/2005','toto','AMTICKET');
    Each time I try to insert a value in the long field, I have this error :
    "ORA-06550: Ligne 8, colonne 13 : PL/SQL: ORA-00600: code erreur interne, arguments : [qctstc2o1], [1], [0], [31], [8], [0], [0], [] ORA-06550: Ligne 8, colonne 1 : PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored"
    I try also with null value. Same problem ...
    Have you a solution for this problem ?
    Thanks.
    FW

    From the SQL Reference guide:
    "LONG and LONG RAW columns cannot be used in distributed SQL statements"
    It should also be noted that the LONG datatype has been deprecated and may not be supported in the future. It is suggested that LONG columns be replaced with CLOB columns. These are much easier to work with than LONGs and have fewer restrictions. You can easily use the TO_LOB function to convert a LONG to a CLOB (see http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96540/functions139a.htm#79466)

  • Replication of LONG fields?

    We are trying to use Oracle8i Lite 4.0.0.1.0 together with replicated tables. Our master tables are containing LONG fields, which have to be replicated to the Clients and vice versa. We are using Delphi5 to read/write from/to the Clients. We do not have the know how on using Java stored procedures. The only thing we want is to store RTF (RichText) formatted data together with some other fields from a Delphi5 application to an OLite database and replicate it.
    Since the Release notes say, that there is no way to replicate LONG fields with OLite, we have tried to use LOBs instead. But this is much too complex (especially when using Delphi)! Is there an easier way to achieve this? (The RTF data to be stored is about 2 to 8 kBytes for each record.)
    Thanks
    Michael Peters

    Oracle does not support replication of long raw columns. Migrate long raw to blob and yuoa can replicate it. You you can not migrate long raw then you must write your's private replication mechanism.

  • Oracle OLE DB provider truncates LONG field's data

    I am using Visual Basic 6, Oracle 8.1, and use ADO to connect to the Oracle database.
    I have a problem with OLE DB provider OraOLEDB.Oracle reading a LONG field (MEMO field in Access).
    When I tried to get the value of the LONG field, it truncates it to 100 characters.
    I do not have the problem using Microsoft Oracle OLE DB Provider MSDAORA.
    This is the Oracle table:
    CREATE TABLE tblA (
    tblA_KEY NUMBER(10) NOT NULL,
    tblA_MEMO LONG NULL
    This is the VB 6 code:
    Set rs = New ADODB.Recordset
    rs.Open ssql, adoConn, adOpenForwardOnly, adLockReadOnly
    sMemo = "" & rs.Fields("tblA_Memo") -->> sMemo contains only the first 100
    characters of tblA_Memo
    How can I fix this?
    Thank you.

    Thanks. I assume you are talking about 9.2 version of Oracle, right?
    While we are in the subject of LONG field. In Oracle 8.1, I can not do the following sql stt:
    select * from tblA where tblA_Memo like '%york%'
    It gives me the error "ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes"
    Can I do this in Oracle 9.2 ?
    Thank you.

  • Update oracle long field

    Hello:
    I'm trying to update an oracle long field with a prepared statement. Here's the
    code:
    objCallableStmt = objConnection.prepareCall(
    "{call spUpdatetblContract(?,?)}");
    objCallableStmt.setInt(1, intContractId);
    objCallableStmt.setAsciiStream(2, new java.io.ByteArrayInputStream(strContractBody.getBytes()),
    strContractBody.length());
    I get the following error:
    java.sql.SQLException: Data size bigger than max size for this type

    I'm using Oracle's Driver (Thin XA) Versions 8.1.7, 9.0.1, 9.2.0Sure. And what happens if you get the connection directly from the oracle driver
    as opposed to a weblogic pool. The same? Most likely it will be. Can you repeat
    this code in a tiny standalone java program that gets it's connection from the
    latest oracle driver, and tell me what it does? This may simply be a limitation
    of the oracle thin driver.
