Looking for 2 "Commands"- clearscreen & goto

Do these exist in Java? I'm working from a Dos screen so far, and it'd be super if I could get my programs to do a clearscreen at first like the DOS cls command.
Also looking for an easy way to send a program back to a certain spot "if something happens, then go to 'this spot'", or if "this" happens, 'go somewhere else'.
Any help much appreciated!!! Thanks.

Don't get too involved in making your DOS screen look pretty. It's hard to do in Java, possibly because a proper GUI is better if you want a pretty interface. You'd be better off spending your time learning more useful things. This jcurses thing may be just what you want but you're going to spend a lot of time figuring out how to set it up and use it, a larger lot since you're new to Java.

  • Looking for a command to check the filling level of the ASIC netwflow table on Cat3850

    Hello.
I am searching for a command to check the filling level of the flexible netflow table in the ASIC of the Cat3850.
There is a show command on the FNF Cache which shows me any entry numbers but this values is confusing me.
The Cat3850 is able to have 16K egress and 8K ingress FNF table entries according to the FNF guide.
But the show command gives me a value of >33k.
Does anyone have an explanation on this?
How can I check the real filling Level of the FNF table in the ASIC?
    Thank you very much

I completely agree with all the above and I only use mutt.  But I use mutt because I *prefer* cli apps.
If you're just going with cli because you don't think your computer can handle gui apps ... then I don't think you've given the lightweight gui apps a fair shake.
Yes, evolution and thunderbird would suck on an old computer (but IMHO they suck on a new one too![1]).
Claws (or/aka sylpheed) is a nice little mail app that should work nicely on any computer that is running X.  I'm sure there are other lightweight gui mail apps to.
Again, I love mutt.  But I don't think having an old computer is the reason to favor mutt over a good gui app if you would otherwise prefer the latter.

  • Desperately looking for Permission command inTools menu

In my Management Console, there is no Permission command in the Tools menu.
Based on the documentation (page 42 of admin.pdf), I assume that the only user account I am using (ZESMadmin) might not be the primary administrator.
However, when running the ESM New Directory Service Configuration Wizard before,
    - I authenticated as ZESMadmin
    - I selected the container ("Please select the container where the configuration administrator is located") where ZESMadmin resides
    - in the final step of the wizard, ZESMadmin is indicated as the "Configuration Account"
Can anybody tell me why the Permission command is unavailable for me?
(The directory I am using is Active Directory i.e. not eDirectory.)

    breqq,
Management Console permissions are no longer a feature in ZESM. The documentation is being updated to reflect the change. Please lock down windows so only authorized users can login to the server. Management Console permissions will be re-added into ZESM in a later build.

  • Looking for a command to go to a specific page in a long Pages document.

I am writing an illustrated book and often need to go to a specific page number.  Is there a 'go to page x' facility on MacBooks?  Have asked my otherwise superb trainers in the local Apple store, but no-one seems to know.

    Hi Chris,
1)User is clicking through the pages of the table control, marks some lines and hits submit button. After the submit, the table is back to page 1. Is there a way to keep the page that was last viewed?
    declare a global variable gv_visiblefirstrow.
    In EventHandler
    when 'submit'.
    gv_visiblefirstrow = request->get_form_field( 'your_tableview_id_visiblefirstrow' ).
    In Layout:
Add the below line to code of your tableview
    visibleFirstRow     = "<%= gv_visiblefirstrow %>"
    2) Same situation. After the user has hit the submit button, I retrieve a list of all marked table lines. After I'm done, I'd like all lines to be unmarked. Does anyone know how to achieve that?
After you are done..just add the code..
    Data: lv_total_rows type i.
          describe table itab lines lv_total_rows.
          cl_htmlb_manager=>check_tableview_all_rows(
          rowcount = lv_total_rows

  • How to locate 'look for apple tv' command in iTunes

i am trying to connect first generation apple tv to mac mini.
following all instructions but apple tv does not appear in itunes devices list.
cannot find how to configure itunes for 'look for apple tv' command.

That depends on how you set it all up. If you chose the "connect to iTunes" option then you should be able to sync content to the hard drive on the Apple TV. If you chose the "add shared library" option then you can only stream to the Apple TV.

  • Looking for a reference manual that actually describes in detail all attributes for a command

I am using CS5. I am teaching myself Photoshop using their book, "Classroom in a book".
Thought the lessons, they will suggest specific setting for command attributes without describing exacting what these values mean.. For example, on page 88 they give the student specific settings for the Refine Edge dialog bog under the Quick Selection tool. They say, "To prepare the edge for a drop shadow, set Smooth to 24, Feather to 0.5, Contrast to 12, and Shift Edge to -21". Note: I am calling things like Smooth, Feather, Contrast, etc command attributes.
My question is not about this specific example, but all these attribute values for all the commands. For example, what does Shift Edge really do when negative or positive. My question is: does a reference, either a book, pdf, or a non-Adobe product (probably a book) exist that actually explains when each attribute actually does for every command? Basically looking for a boring detailed reference guide so when I am using a specific command, I can read about the attributes for the specific command and understand what the values really mean and not guess my trial and error.
    Thanks in Advance,

For example, I just happen to have my book open to page 113 and it is showing me (at the bottom of the page) the dialog box for Layer Style.  I was hoping for a reference manual that explains every option in the that dialog box in detail and tells you what each option means and how it effects the image.
I hope this clarifies what I am looking for.
Here's a little snippet from the info about Layer Styles in the Adobe manual.
    Layer style options
    To the top
Altitude For the Bevel and Emboss effect, sets the height of the light source. A setting of 0 is equivalent to ground level, 90 is directly above the layer. Angle Determines the lighting angle at which the effect is applied to the layer. You can drag in the document window to adjust the angle of a Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, or Satin effect.
Anti-alias Blends the edge pixels of a contour or gloss contour. This option is most useful on small shadows with complicated contours. Blend Mode Determines how the layer style blends with the underlying layers, which may or may not include the active layer. For example, an inner shadow blends with the active layer because the effect is drawn on top of that layer, but a drop shadow blends only with the layers beneath the active layer. In most cases, the default mode for each effect produces the best results. See Blending modes. Choke Shrinks the boundaries of the matte of an Inner Shadow or Inner Glow prior to blurring. Color Specifies the color of a shadow, glow, or highlight. You can click the color box and choose a color. Contour With solid-color glows, Contour allows you to create rings of transparency. With gradient-filled glows, Contour allows you to create variations in the repetition of the gradient color and opacity. In beveling and embossing, Contour allows you to sculpt the ridges, valleys, and bumps that are shaded in the embossing process. With shadows, Contour allows you to specify the fade. For more information, see Modify layer effects with contours. Distance Specifies the offset distance for a shadow or satin effect. You can drag in the document window to adjust the offset distance. Depth Specifies the depth of a bevel. It also specifies the depth of a pattern. Use Global Light This setting allows you to set one “master” lighting angle that is then available in all the layer effects that use shading: Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, and Bevel and Emboss. In any of these effects, if Use Global Light is selected and you set a lighting angle, that angle becomes the global lighting angle. Any other effect that has Use Global Light selected automatically inherits the same angle setting. If Use Global Light is deselected, the lighting angle you set is “local” and applies only to that effect. You can also set the global lighting angle by choosing Layer Style > Global Light. Gloss Contour Creates a glossy, metallic appearance. Gloss Contour is applied after shading a bevel or emboss. Gradient Specifies the gradient of a layer effect. Click the gradient to display the Gradient Editor, or click the inverted arrow and choose a gradient from the pop-up panel. You can edit a gradient or create a new gradient using the Gradient Editor. You can edit the color or opacity in the Gradient Overlay panel the same way you edit them in the Gradient Editor. For some effects, you can specify additional gradient options. Reverse flips the orientation of the gradient, Align With Layer uses the bounding box of the layer to calculate the gradient fill, and Scale scales the application of the gradient. You can also move the center of the gradient by clicking and dragging in the image window. Style specifies the shape of the gradient. Highlight or Shadow Mode Specifies the blending mode of a bevel or emboss highlight or shadow. Jitter Varies the application of a gradient’s color and opacity. Layer Knocks Out Drop Shadow Controls the drop shadow’s visibility in a semitransparent layer. Noise Specifies the number of random elements in the opacity of a glow or shadow. Enter a value or drag the slider. Opacity Sets the opacity of the layer effect. Enter a value or drag the slider. Pattern Specifies the pattern of a layer effect. Click the pop-up panel and choose a pattern. Click the New Preset button          to create a new preset pattern based on the current settings. Click Snap To Origin to make the origin of the pattern the same as the origin of the document (when Link With Layer is selected), or to place the origin at the upper-left corner of the layer (if Link With Layer is deselected). Select Link With Layer if you want the pattern to move along with the layer as the layer moves. Drag the Scale slider or enter a value to specify the size of the pattern. Drag a pattern to position it in the layer; reset the position by using the Snap To Origin button. The Pattern option is not available if no patterns are loaded. Position Specifies the position of a stroke effect as Outside, Inside, or Center. Range Controls which portion or range of the glow is targeted for the contour. Size Specifies the radius and size of blur or the size of the shadow. Soften Blurs the results of shading to reduce unwanted artifacts. Source Specifies the source for an inner glow. Choose Center to apply a glow that emanates from the center of the layer’s content, or Edge toapply a glow that emanates from the inside edges of the layer’s content. Spread Expands the boundaries of the matte prior to blurring.
Style Specifies the style of a bevel: Inner Bevel creates a bevel on the inside edges of the layer contents; Outer Bevel creates a bevel on the outside edges of the layer contents; Emboss simulates the effect of embossing the layer contents against the underlying layers; Pillow Emboss simulates the effect of stamping the edges of the layer contents into the underlying layers; and Stroke Emboss confines embossing to the boundaries of a stroke effect applied to the layer. (The Stroke Emboss effect is not visible if no stroke is applied to the layer.)
Technique Smooth, Chisel Hard, and Chisel Soft are available for bevel and emboss effects; Softer and Precise apply to Inner Glow and Outer Glow effects.
Smooth Blurs the edges of a matte slightly and is useful for all types of mattes, whether their edges are soft or hard. It does not preserve detailed features at larger sizes. Chisel Hard Uses a distance measurement technique and is primarily useful on hard-edged mattes from anti-aliased shapes such as type. It preserves detailed features better than the Smooth technique.
Chisel Soft Uses a modified distance measurement technique and, although not as accurate as Chisel Hard, is more useful on a larger range of mattes. It preserves features better than the Smooth technique. Softer Applies a blur and is useful on all types of mattes, whether their edges are soft or hard. At larger sizes, Softer does not preserve detailed features.
Precise Uses a distance measurement technique to create a glow and is primarily useful on hard-edged mattes from anti-aliased shapes
such as type. It preserves features better than the Softer technique. Texture Applies a texture. Use Scale to scale the size of the texture. Select Link With Layer if you want the texture to move along with the layer as the layer moves. Invert inverts the texture. Depth varies the degree and direction (up/down) to which the texturing is applied. Snap To Origin makes the origin of the pattern the same as the origin of the document (if Link With Layer is deselected) or places the origin in the upper-left corner of the layer (if Link With Layer is selected). Drag the texture to position it in the layer.

  • Looking for simple touch-to-command utility

More and more people are using laptops these days, but the number of utilities providing extra touch functionality seems still lacking. I'm looking for a simple utility that will let me bind (multi-) touch gestures to keybindings, and preferably also commands.
    For instance:
    2-finger swipe-left > Mod1-arrowleft
    3-finger swipe-up > exec dmenu_run
Does anyone know of such a utility?

    Hey litemotiv,
    Easystroke will do that. I use it with my stylus/tablet to execute apps, commands, text, (ie: passwords, signature, etc), key-bindings, etc... While easystroke <upstream version> isn't multi-touch, there does happen to be a multi-touch version - but as a disclaimer ~ i haven't actually used the MT version. However, here is a link to the blog about it (english translation);

    It's also in the AUR;

let me know how it works out! (i plan on going multitouch soonish)

  • Looking for old Missile Command-type game

I used to play this Missile Command clone around 10 years ago, I remember a black background and colorful bases and "missile lines". Can't remember what it was called though. If anyone knows that would be awesome.

Are you looking for online play? I did a Google search for Missile Command and came up with a bunch of online Missile Command games. I was able to save a java based version as a web archive with Safari and play offline.
I have the old Missile Command in black and white, but I got it in the OS 7 days so I don't remember where I got it.

I went under help and found look for updates. I clicked on it and itunes found the latest version. When I clicked on download itunes, nothing happened. What should I do?

With that one, try updating using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does that go through any better for you?

  • How can i share my library with my new computer when the itunes on the new computer does not have the "look for shared libraries" command in the preferences/shared pane?

It worked fine before i updated the most recent update, My old computer readds the new one but the new one does not read the old one now.

Is the iTunes library actually shared on the old computer?
I have never had a need for forcing iTunes to look for shared libraries, it simply detects them.

  • I'm looking for a new small, efficient media player.

    Hi there.
The background that will give you insight into my situation but doesn't need to be read
I come from a very cushioned past media-wise. When I really started to get into listening to music I was still using Windows. It was Winamp first, which I liked but found a little much, but a few coincidences later found XMPlay, a free but closed-source media player capable of playing not only some weird file formats such as MO3, MOD, IT, XM, S3M etc, of which I have a few files in this format, but also MP3, OGG, WAV, and all the other general stuff out there. The timing was just perfect and I "grew" into my "media years" with this player. I used it across my transition from Win98 to XP, and also used it on a Win95 laptop - and I don't even think I had to "help" the system "like" the player to make it work, although I could be wrong.
However, XMPlay has no Linux version, and as far as I can see, no porting is planned. And as I said before, it's closed source, so not much can be done there.
In my setup I had a machine set aside for media playback because it had a SB16 in it, and I'd run it with the bass set to 100% and treble set to 0%. Despite what you might think, the output was awesome with headphones - it could give me a good headache or two without distorting at all.
So, when I first switched to Linux, I didn't initially switch this machine over, but left it running Win98. This got to me in the end so I switched it over... and immediately faced issues. Since there was no port of XMPlay, I needed to find a new player, and fast. XMPlay has a bunch of audio postprocessing features I had enabled, none of which I found support or equivalents for in Linux (for example, an EQ setting promoting bassboost, in addition to that provided by the card - you can understand the headaches). I eventually gave up and ran XMPlay using WINE... and left it that way, for several months. I mean, it worked, didn't it? Then the fact that XMPlay over WINE on a 450MHz processor (it's a P3, haha) used 50%+ CPU -minimum- for the player to even be running (IIRC) got to me, so I decided once again that a new player had to be found. After some digging, I found XMMS to be the most likely candidate (it supports LADSPA and I could configure a bass-boost filter), and for the most part, it worked well. Quite well.
Then... after I recently found myself recording some audio from the SB16's output to my main machine's input (the simplest way to get around the issue that the bass boost isn't very easy to feed back into the card - or impossible, I haven't tried it for so long), and had my headphones connected to my desktop to monitor the recording. Then, after that was done, I somehow started listening to some other piece of music (through my main box), for whatever reason. I immediately noticed a rather stark contrast in quality to what I'd recorded from the SB16 and what I was listening to. A doublecheck later confirmed that yes, my SB16 was of terrible quality, and yes, I needed a solution, since I wasn't gonna listen to that kinda sound quality anymore now that I knew.
Over the past few weeks (months?) up until this point I've slowly been weaning myself off the music I liked so much (XMs and MODs, and maybe the occasional S3M), and the postprocessing features I thought had glued themselves into my ears....
    The, uh, like, point.
....so I need a media player that doesn't have much in terms of sound processing, but meets all the following requirements, either built in or as a plugin (as logically applicable):
    * Can hide completely, leaving only a hotkey to bring it back. I don't use a system tray and don't want to, for any purpose.
    * Is written in a compiled language.
    * Has configurable global hotkey support
    * Isn't bloated, dependancy-wise, filesize or memory-wise, or desktop-real-estate-wise - something that uses basic C and has a basic GUI preferred
    * Controls the hardware volume so that volume changes are instant
    * Supports tracks longer than 60 minutes / 1 hour
    * Has good file management / playlist support
    * Is something I can throw a gigantic directory tree at and expect to load all the music in it, FAST. I could throw my entire 32GB HDD at XMPlay when I wanted to see/remember what new music was on it and I'd just leave it alone for slightly under 5 minutes. When I returned to it, bam, playlist. That was on the 450MHz P3, running Win98. XMPlay also gave me feedback - if you can recommend something that shows me where it is on the filesystem, that'd be great.
Up until now, Audacious has met those requirements. But it's had the following issues:
    * The track details window won't open for random tracks
    * The time display stuffs up for tracks longer than >60m, showing the position at 0:59, then, 1:40, then after 10 minutes have passed 1:41, etc
    * The volume control randomly forgets how to change the volume, and I refuse to change the controller to use a software volume since it'll induce delays
    * The system has no ability to add directories recursively - this was present in XMMS, but the BMP guys removed it (?!?!?!) and since Audacious is a fork of BMP, ...
    * The latest version's global hotkeys plugin restores the window to a non-changeable location when I use the "toggle player windows" function. As a visual person I find this a huge blocker.
Now for the list of players that don't do what I want. XD
    * mpd - expects all your files to be in one folder; mine are everywhere, even thrown across sshfs mounts to other systems.
    * audacious - ...
    * xmms - too boring. GTK1. old stuff. unsupported.
    * xmms2 - seems too "unreachable". I haven't tried this player yet, mostly because Arch has no clients in the repos. *stab*
    * banshee - 200TB of dependencies, and it needs 400TB of RAM to run. Read: I dislike Mono.
    * rhythmbox, banshee, amarok, exaile, quod libet - iTunes-ey UI. I hate iTunes-ey UIs.
    * songbird - depends on the Gecko rendering engine. I have 512MB RAM, and I already run Firefox, thanks.
    * bmp, xmms, audacious - winamp-ey UI. I want to move away from winamp-ey UIs.
If you have any suggestions... I'll be amazed.

Sonata, disable system tray icon, modify any panel settings to ignore it
    * Is written in a compiled language.
    mpd is written in C
    * Has configurable global hotkey support
Set up keybindings for mpc commands
    * Isn't bloated, dependancy-wise, filesize or memory-wise, or desktop-real-estate-wise - something that uses basic C and has a basic GUI preferred
mpd uses basic C, many, many GUIs for it around, extremely small memory footprint
    * Controls the hardware volume so that volume changes are instant
    Keybind alsamixer commands
    * Supports tracks longer than 60 minutes / 1 hour
Is there a modern media player that doesn't do this?
    * Has good file management / playlist support
I never use mpd's playlist capabilities, but they do seem fairly extensive.
    * mpd - expects all your files to be in one folder; mine are everywhere, evn thrown across sshfs mounts to other systems.
Apparently you have never heard of symbolic links. OH SNAP! Just create a single directory to collect all the links in. Also, mpd does not expect everything to be in one folder; it expects everything to be available from one parent folder, allowing you to organize beneath that parent.
The problem you're having isn't that you're looking for a music player, you're looking for a wm/media player/file manager, and that just doesn't exist on Linux, largely because we are sane (for the sake of argument, ignore Songbird right now, I don't think any of us are crazy enough to use it anyways). Like looking for a zebroctonoceros, even though a zebra exists, an octopus exists, and a rhinoceros exists, they do not exist in the same creature. For interfacing with X (keybindings and the disappearing music player), you're better off going through a configurable wm like Openbox. For the actual music playing, well, I don't see any problems with mpd besides your music files being messy, and you can't expect music playing software to solve a personal organization problem. If your file system is messy, then use a file manager to fix it, not your mp3 player. I put a lot of effort into keeping my music files properly tagged and accessible from a single top level directory called music, which then splits off into mp3/ogg files, flac files, podcasts, etc, and that largely solves the problem of wondering where s--t is.
Another idea for you, if you have multiple machines. Collect all your music onto a single machine, and then set up that system to serve exclusively as an mpd jukebox you can listen to from your other computers over the network. Give it a try.
