Looking for a Bigger English Dictionary

I use 9.2.2, with AppleWorks 6.2.8, and am looking for a larger, English dictionary that I can put in my Dictionaries folder.
I've looked at after-market products, but they don't work well with 9.2.2.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have already been to VersionTracker. All the stuff for AW is after-market, and does nothing better than AW already does, when it comes to adding dictionary power.

  • English dictionary in csv format to create Apex page

    Hello,
Im looking for a Free English dictionary in csv format that I can use to load into Apex as a page.
Ive Googled and have seen many links for such, but many of the links are now invalid, or the file is not free, or the file is not in a csv format.
Has anyone implemented such a feature and could lead me to an actual site where I can download the file.

  • Looking for a new Hard Drive for my MacBook

I have less than 1 GB left on my Hard Drive and I'm looking for a bigger drive. I'm looking for a 250 GB as that will match my desktop. I know they were some talk about issues with the Western Digital Drives.
Any suggestions? Also, I was thinking of going for one that was 7200 RPM. Is that going to be a lot louder and kill my battery a lot quicker? Thanks!

I've got a 200GB Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 drive in my MacBook right now. About the only issue is that the bearings are a bit louder than the Apple OEM Seagate Momentus 5300.3 drive that was installed at the factory. Right now iStat Pro says that the hard drive temp is 72°F, which is about the same as my factory drive. Most specs say that you might expect maybe a half watt more power draw, which is unimportant if it's plugged in most of the time, and fairly small if you're on battery power.
Initially I thought my MacBook was going to destroy itself, with the fan hitting maximum and CPU cycles being used up. Turns out it was just Spotlight indexing the hard drive, and the same would have been true for any new drive installation. I didn't think it would be an issue with a cloned drive, but it was.

  • Datacleanse name parsing for the English dictionary

I am using the person_firm_en (English) dictionary for name parsing (Datacleanse for Data Services XI) for Canada data. There are many situations where the full name consists of 3 names and datacleanse parses the 2nd and the 3rd name into the 'family name' field. Thus, instead of parsing the 2nd name into the given_name2 field, it puts it with the last name into the family_name field. Some examples are:
Example 1 - ROBERT GRAHAM LEITCH
    given_name1 - Robert
    family_name - Graham Leitch
Example 2 - JEREMY HURON NEAL
    given_name1 - Jeremy
    family_name - Huron Neal
SAP's response to this issue is that each entry which is not being parsed out as given_name2 needs to have the person_firm_en dictionary entry edited to add it as a given name. This can also impact its parsing if this name appears as a last name.
Does anyone have any other suggestions or any rule/code that you have implemented to handle such situations?

    Shenaz,
We have struggled quite a bit with the name parsing n the Data Cleanse (especially when using version 12.1.1). I wrote some custom functions that do name parsing and in many cases, especially for middle names, they seem to do a better job. Below is the code that returns Person1 Middle name from a passed in mixed name value. The functions CF_Name_Standardize_Replace_Chars and CF_Remove_Extra_Spaces contain find\replace tables and remove things like punctuation, MR, MRS, empty space, etc.
1 Have 5 other functions, to pull out First, Middle, and Last names of persons 1 and 2. They look very similar, the only different part being the last section where the word pattern is analyzed and the decision is made as to which word is to be returned.
I could get you code for the others if it would help.

  • Hi, do you have a civil engineering dictionary for translating of english to persian?

Hi, do you have a civil engineer dictionary for tranlate english to persian?

Any dictionary apps would be in the iTunes Store so you'll need to search there. Your need is pretty specific and while probably not unique would be something only a very few people would need, so my guess is that you'll need to look for a web site that would provide that function rather than finding an app.
    Good luck.

I'm looking for a good note app with pen function for taking notes ( in English and German ) during business trips. Can anyone help?

Really sorry to hear about this, particularly when you're putting your life on the line. But Apple cannot track your iPhone in any way unless you had set up Find My iPhone prior to it being lifted.
It's possible that AT&T might be able to do something, but it's probably that they cannot track it, or will not without a request from an authorized law enforcement agency, but rather would only disable the device. You'll have to try and find a way to contact AT&T directly and ask if they can do anything to help you; the chances of any AT&T employee in a position to help you spotting this thread it pretty small.
Good luck, stay safe, and come home soon.
    Regards.

  • My US english dictionary for the system-wide spellcheck has died

At some point in the past few days I noticed that my spelling had gotten a lot more accurate... or so I thought. Actually, what happened is, for some reason, whenever I choose ordinary US English as my dictionary for the spell checker, it thinks that every word is spelled right. This isn't an UBER problem because there is the UK dictionary too... but I would still like to fix my US English dictionary so that I don't have to spell colour wrong.
I wouldn't mind just resetting all of the dictionaries, I just don't see a place to do that.

If the language is set ithe paragraph style, that's where it needs to be changed. If it's local formatting override you can use Find/Change to change the exixiting text all at once, but that won't change the style definition. A global definition change might be possible via script. Ask over in InDesign Scripting

  • Looking for cs4 design standard english installer

looking for cs4 design standard english installer, but i can't find it

    Same as what I see.
All 10 languages listed on the left (from English - International through to Spanish - North America inclusive) are included in the installers shown in the Mac OS X and Windows columns.
I think you're interpreting "French and German only" since the download links are vertically centred in their respective boxes and happen to align with the words French and German on the left.

  • Looking for a dictionary application

any sugestions for a free/paid dictionary or wiki app for the iPod Touch?
will you still need wi-fi in order to use a dictionary or no need?

Try having a look at the App Store:Dictionaries.
Most of the wiki apps will need a WiFi connection due to the nature of the content they are searching.
