Looking for this nice effect

Hello everyone,
I've been looking around for a couple of days and am trying
to build this smooth easing effect. Please have a view here:
http://www.cozumelrs.com.br/
When you move your mouse around on the 1st page before
selecting languages, everything responds in a smooth mouse opposite
behavior. Anyone worked on something similar or might have any
suggs?

first 2 general comments: 1) if you use setInterval() with a
small time parameter (like 2 ms), then you should use
updateAfterEvent() in the function being called so the stage
updates after the function executes. otherwise, you lose the
benefit of those frequent function calls.
2) always use clearInterval() to terminate a setInterval()
loop that's no longer needed. and an even better rule-of-thumb is
to use clearInterval() even when you don't think a setInterval()
has been defined or you think it has already been cleared. ie, you
can't use too many clearInterval() statements. they cause no issue
when you (try to) clear an interval that doesn't exist. on the
other hand, if you ever execute identical setInterval() statements
you'll have a mess that cannot be fixed after the duplicate
interval is created. (an example is below.)
you can use a similar function, to the above, for any number
of movieclips and any number of easing equations. the essential
part of the easing equations i used is that the number multiplying
yourMC._x plus the number multiplying destX equal 1. that way you
can be sure yourMC._x will converge to destX.
with the easing equation you used for yourMC._x, yourMC._x
will converge to .8*destX.
anyway, to generalize that code:

    greetings

Looked like the ever popluar Bad TV effect to me.
CoreMelt was offereing a couple of freebies last time i looked. I have Ananlog Glitch which simualte scanning lines and some distortion/displacement. There's a another freebie called Old TV which combines Glitch with some additional analog video effects. You might also check Noise Industries for their FXFactory, a free utility used by several effedcts publishers.

  • Looking for a nice solution for different cases with nearly same operations

    Hi everybody:
I'm looking for a nice solution for the following problem:
I'm measuring different data at the same time (with different devices).
I would like to save these data all in one array (or cluster?), but I
don't know exactly the way to do this. All values have corresponding
time values. So for one data type it would result in a 2d array,
wouldn't it? But how can I save different data types with their time
values in one array? Or should I take a cluster? And how can I get only
a certain type of data out of this array or cluster again? E.g. if I
only need data type "3" with its time stamps for evaluation? I would
really appreciate an example, I work with LV 7. Thanks!
Then - for evaluation - I only need one data type of these different
data. Which one I would like to choose via the frontpanel (it changes
from test to test). So, I thought of a case structure (where I can
choose which data type and correspondingly which evaluation way). The
evaluation steps for the different data types are quite the same, but
can vary in order of execution. I could write for every case the
(nearly) same evaluation steps, but this would take a lot of time, plus
if I need to change one step I need to change it in every case.
Does anybody know a better way?
Thank you very much in advance,
    Steffi

In this example I have four arrays, which I would like to save alltogether in one file. First column should consists of time stamps, second column of value type 1, third column of value type 2, ... How can I solve this?
Built the 4 1D arrays into a 2D array, the use write to spreadsheet file.
    steffi.kono wrote:
And, after that, how can I display only the second coulmn (e.g.) and time stamps in a waveform chart from this file? Or how can I say in LabVIEW: "display the last 30 values of column three over the time in a waveform chart"?
There is "array subset", which allows you to get any desired subset from an array. If yoyu want entire rows or colums, use "index array".
To display the last 30 values in a chart, just feed the data to a chart with the history size set to 30 elements. The rest will fall into place.

Connect your phone to iTunes, then right-click on the name of your phone on the left sidebar and select Reset Warnings.  Then sync again and you should get a warning listing the problem files.

  • Looking for a nice external HD

    hello all.
i've been looking for a nice external HD and found some good choices:
    NewerTech miniStack v2
Western Digital WDG1SU5000 500GB MyBook Premium ES Edition
Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 250 GB USB
Western Digital 160GB 2.5-inch Passport USB Portable Hard Drive
Iomega 120 GB Portable USB/FireWire Hard Drive
so what do you guys think of these ones?

I recently purchased two new hard drives and I'm not crazy about either one. The WD My Book (Premium, 320 GB) runs fine but it makes a very annoying throbbing sound. Also, it doesn't power down by itself when I shut off my Mac, so I have to manually press the button on the front of the drive to shut it off.
The other new drive is better - it's a Maxtor One Touch 4 Plus (500 GB). It's quiet, runs cool and powers down. Unfortunately, you have to unplug it every time you shut off the computer because it's powered sort of like a portable drive and it will power up on its own if it's getting power, even when the computer is off. It took me days to figure out how to get the Mac to recognize the drive every time I turn on my computer - and then I read Seagate's/Maxtor's hidden instructions.
Support from both WD and Seagate/Maxtor is sporadic - they sometimes respond to emails and sometimes don't.
The Maxtor drive is new so I don't know how durable it is. I have a Maxtor One Touch II that's been working for more than two years. The WD drive has a lousy track record according to reports I've read, but it came with a two year warranty (European warranty - US warranty is, I think, one year). The Maxtor comes with a five-year limited warranty.
Both drives come with USB and FW ports and both run much better on FW. They're both bootable with Tiger or Leopard.

i just bought an iPad from a friend. I think is generation 1 or 2 not sure where to look for this. Bottom line, I would like to update it to iOS7. Is this possible?  It does not have the option for software update.

    Identify Your iPad
    http://www.ifixit.com/Info/ID-your-iPad
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.4. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Looking for Helicopter sound effect

Ive come close to creating it by altering a synth basic sound, but its still off a little. Any ideas?

Are you looking for a helicopter sample, or an AU that makes your pre-existing sound into a helicopter effect?
If it is the former, Hang and Christoph gave you some nice examples, and you can do a google search for "Helicopter Sound Effects."
If it is the latter, this free au plug in does a nice job of simulating it.

  • Hallelujah, finally disabled OOPP. I use Firefox 9.0.1 and will not upgrade to anything that ignores my settings. Been looking for this info for years!

As soon as Firefox came out with OOPP, I immediately asked how to permanently disable it and had a Firefox developer straight-up lie to me and say it couldn't be done without downgrading. Thank GOODNESS for the instructions on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/713600?page=1 Finally, finally I have excised the hated OOPP!
I run Firefox 9.0.1 and will not upgrade, ever, unless I see signs that Mozilla has radically altered its development direction and discarded most of the boneheaded, broken, anti-user development that has gone into versions more recent than Firefox 1.x. Actually making your mission statement more than an empty promise might be a good place to start.
Let's see...anything else? Oh yeah, any developer who advocates overriding or ignoring user settings, or taking control away from the user, should be kicked off the team. (and investigated as a possible Government mole, but that's a lot to ask for). I hear Konqueror and Safari are looking for new devs. It gets old fast when you try to get support and instead get haughty "You're doing it wrong, stop doing that" responses. I'm doing exactly what I intend to be doing and if you can't support that, someone else will. If you really gave a damn about your users, you might start by backporting security fixes to previous versions instead of spewing out a cacophony of incompatible new versions so rapidly you end up confusing and alienating users and making them switch updates off entirely. I mean seriously, what happens when Firefox hits triple digits? You could stick a decimal in front of it, and name that build after a historic baseball player who had that batting average. But even then you will run out of players in a few months.
It's truly sad. I switched to Firefox because it was the best browser. But Firefox has been backsliding horribly since around 2.0, and the other browsers seem to be in about the same boat. Firefox IS still the best browser - but only if you use an ancient, unsupported version. That's a big problem.

Using an obsolete version released [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/9.0.1/releasenotes/ December 11th 2011] is the exact definition of downgrading. It exposes your system to all the security vulnerabilities that have been fixed since then.
    * https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html
Out-of-process plug-ins was made mandatory on Windows Vista and later because Adobe don't test Flash Player's protected mode with OOPP disabled. This change didn't happen until Firefox 14, so there was no need to go as far back as Firefox 9.0.1.
If you absolutely have to, you can disable OOPP by creating the ''MOZ_DISABLE_OOP_PLUGINS'' environment variable and setting its value to '''1'''. Firefox must be restarted for the change to take effect. This works in the current version of Firefox, so there's no need to use obsolete insecure versions.<br>
If you don't know how to create an environment variable, see the following article for instructions (the "Using the Custom Environment Variable" section is not relevant).

  • Looking for a specific effect

Does anyone have a quick answer to this:
I'm looking for an effect of subtle shaking text
as if you are reading the text on a subway.
I'm putting subway sounds in the background.
    Thanks,

    Yet another method:
hit the record, press play, and jiggle your text dragging it with the mouse, that should create a more random motion.

  • Looking for a photo effect

I have been looking, unsuccessfully, for a photo effect in AS3. I am a noob so I don't know how to programme complex effects. I could do it in after effects but I would prefer it in AS3.
How can I achieve an effects like this one
    http://www.flasheff.com/patternsshowcase/?pattern=FESBlurSquare
    Thank you

    hi
its been a while since i used AS2 but i think AS3 has more effects (filters) - although some of them cant be set via the IDE (see http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/filters/package-d etail.html for the list)
if we were restricted to 'non-coded' effects, the possibilities would be much reduced...

is there a plugin/effect out there that you can make it look like the letters are being spray painted in livetype? i really wasn't coming up with anything when i looked in this forum or on google. please help me if you know how to make it look like the text is being spray painted onto the screen.
    thanksx

There's nothing in Live Type that does what you want...the closest thing would be Skywriter in the Live fonts but you can't change the color on it and you would need to put each letter on a seperate track to make it work.
I think I read in a discussion months ago about doing this in Motion, you might check that forum.
Other than that the only plugin I've heard about is at
    www.pluginz.com/product/10062?category=62
I"ve never used it thought so can't attest to its quality.
