Lookup in BPM

Hi
I have a message A which is passing through BPM and is splitting into 2 messages B and C (using 2 differnt message mappings). Now is it possible to send B first and then wait for 30 secs and do a look up from A to check a value in the target side before sending C.
Is the above scenario possible without using acknowledgement using a correlation ID ?

do a look up from A to check a value in the target side before sending C
I am a bit confused what you mean to say by the above line.
Now is it possible to send B first and then wait for 30 secs
Yes it is possible.....after you do the split (tansformation step...generate only message B here) you include a Send step (which will have Message B)....then have a Transformation step (this will generate Message C)....in this mapping apply the below logic of Thread.sleep(30) and the processing will wait for 30 secs...for more info: Re: Delay in MM possible ?
In normal case you cannot include a Wait step in BPM to implement the above because it doesnt have 30 secs delay period (min is 1 minute).

Abhishek.

  • Lookups Vs  BPM

    Hi,
    Can any one tell me
    What is the difference between Lookups and BPM on performance bases?
    Where we should use BPM and where it is better to use lookups?
    Thanks

    Hi Vinay,
    We use BPM when we need to do:
    1. Controling or Monitoring of messages in XI
    2. Collect or Merge the messages in XI
    3. Split the messages in XI
    4. Multicast a Message
    5. Need to send an Alert
    XI BPM Performance: under-perform or out-perform?
    /people/swen.conrad/blog/2006/12/22/xi-ccbpm-performance-under-perform-or-out-perform
    LOOKUP Function: For example if you have a scenario in which you are getting the file from sender side and want to post the data of this file to R/3 system, but before posting the data into R/3 suppose you want to confirm that a particulat data let's say MATNR exists in R/3 or not then we create lookup function (UDF) in XI mapping.
    Lookups are not recomanded because of its performance  issue, reason behind this is, whenever you run the scenario it hits the R/3 tables to check an entry in the database, and as you know it is a big time issue to hit the database again & again.

  • Call RFC for Lookup from BPM. how to determin the correct target system

    Hi
    I have a scenario where i am sending a sync call to SAP R/3 to fetch some sata using the BPM.
    The issue is I can have multiple SAP systems so to determin the SAP system for the correct lookup is necessary.
    in the rec determination step of Config I can configure multiple receivers but this isthrowing an error saying the multiple receivers cannot be determined for sync step.
    Any idea why is such an error occuring
    Regards
    Nikhil

    Nikhil,
    Multiple Receivers cannot be configured for a Synchronous Interfaces. reason is that when you are sending the request message to the target systems, XI will recieve multiple responses for one request and this is aginst the concept of Synch Message Processing.
    You will have to have an option of determining the receivers inside your BPM and using separate Send Steps for each of these.
    Regards
    Bhavesh

  • Performance of jdbc mapping lookup vs BPM Process

    Hello fellow consultants,
    I have project on AEX upcoming and now I`m deciding the strategy.
    I have to implement few processes for which I will use BPM. But inside these processes I have few jdbc calls for logging to the oracle db.
    Regarding the performance - what is better approach?
    make these jdbc calls as a jdbc lookup in mapping
    perform it as a regular part of bpm process
    Thank you for suggestions
    VB

    Hi VB,
    I have a different opinion than Fouad although I can understand his point, but for me, lookUps are rarely good and well implemented and it should be used in a very specific, required and critical scenarios. This is because this lookUp connection is not manageable, out of monitoring stuff and I don't think in the mapping step is the correct moment to open a JDBC connection with partner all of sudden.
    My Idea is more for the point number 2, where you have everything well explicit step by step, opening the connection being manageable, with monitoring even though it may bring one or two steps more to your BPM but I'm more concerned at this moment to follow the best practice of integration and thinking in Performance I don't think there will be a gain that would justify the JDBC Lookup.

  • JDBC Lookup  with BPM (no operation mapping)

    HI,
    In my scenario i have to use  JDBC lookup to get the data ,but  here i do not have operation mapping  ( this part i am doing  in BPM).. to select JDBC Look  up communication channel.
    In BPM i am facing  issue to select  lookup  parameters.
    -->In BPM for lookup parameter  its asking  for container element. I have created container element but  that element is not  showing in the container element list to select.
    JDBC look up parameter i have created using  category as adapter and BPM container element as simple.
    Please let me know how to resolve this, ( Is this JDBC lookup limitation!)
    Thanks
    Surya

    Thanks Jenny and Rajendra for your reply.
    Actually my question is wrong, here i am correcting this.
    I have operation mapping ,but that  OM is inside BPM, and i am facing the issue in selecting container element parameter in BPM.
    -->In BPM for lookup parameter its asking for container element. I have created container element but that element is not showing in the container element list to select.
    JDBC look up parameter i have created using category as adapter and BPM container element as simple.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    It's not easy to tell what's wrong with your example.
    Maybe you could send me a zip and I'll check when I have some time.
    By the way, you're asking a question about the lookup of an EJB3, I wrote an article that covers that topic.
    It should give you some interesting input.

  • ASync RFC -- Sync RFC -- SOAP scenario: do I need BPM?

    Hi,
    I have this scenario. ASync RFC --> PI --> Sync RFC --> PI  --> SOAP scenario.
    Here are the details.
    1. users run async RFC and it will pass data to PI.
    2. PI will call Sync RFC with received data and get the data.
    3. PI now calls web service with received data from #2.
    Do I need BPM to implement this scenario.
    Thank you.
    -Won

    I'm still wondering if it's possible to perform my scenario without using RFC lookup or BPM.
    Yes, it is possible.
    I want to see if PI supports sequence of calling RFC, JDBC, web service, etc and pass data to
    the next call in sequence... without BPM...
    Yes, PI supports that. Please make a search on SDN, there are numerous blogs / posts which talks about A/S bridge without BPM.

    Thanks for logging this. I haven't seen it. If anyone else has seen it let us know.
    We will keep our eyes open for it.

  • Find something interesting today.

    Under "<MiddlewareHome>\jdeveloper\soa\modules\oracle.bpm.client_11.1.1" directory, I find some jars contain class of BPM Service.
    Although no javadoc on these classes, I find that they can be used in a way similar to WorkflowService classes.
    I believe this is the replacement for PAPI to control BPM on process scale.
    Hope that API specifications will be released soon.
    Below is a example to authenicate:
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    WorkflowServicesClientConfigurationType wscct =
    new WorkflowServicesClientConfigurationType();
    List<ServerType> servers = wscct.getServer();
    ServerType server = new ServerType();
    server.setDefault(true);
    server.setName("soa_server1");
    servers.add(server);
    RemoteClientType rct = new RemoteClientType();
    rct.setServerURL("<managed soa server url>");
    rct.setUserName("weblogic");
    RemoteClientType.Password pw = new RemoteClientType.Password();
    pw.setValue("weblogic1");
    rct.setPassword(pw);
    rct.setInitialContextFactory("weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    rct.setParticipateInClientTransaction(false);
    server.setRemoteClient(rct);
    wscct.setClientType(BPMServiceClientFactory.REMOTE_CLIENT);
    BPMServiceClientFactory bPMServiceClientFactory =
    BPMServiceClientFactory.getInstance(wscct, null);
    try {
    System.out.println(bPMServiceClientFactory.getBPMUserAuthenticationService().authenticate("user",
    "welcome1".toCharArray(),
    null));
    } catch (BPMException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();

  • Avoid processing of Duplicate Synchronous Messages

    Hi,
    I have two synchronous messages coming with almost zero delay in it. Both the messages contains the same data which is causing a major problem in the backend.
    I want to avoid the processing of duplicate message. My scenario is HTTP to SOAP (sync)...
    The option that I thought of are:
    - Using BPM so that messages can be sent sequentially to backend and there it can be checked for duplicate entries (client is not ready to use BPM)
    - Providing Delay in Message Mapping...(I will end up with same issue as same amount of delay will be provided to both the messages may or may not but dont want to take risk)
    - I cant make a look up to see if entry already exists as the difference between incoming duplicate messages are so small that it will not give the desired result.
    Also thought of creating message ID in URL only but it is not possible with QOS BE.
    Is there any way through which I can process the sync messages in sequential way... or something that will avoid processing
    of duplicate messages?
    Any thought?
    Thanks,
    Sunil Singh

    Hi Sunil,
    Checking the data weather is duplicate or not (ie, its already resides in Rev application) would sure require to use of lookup or BPM.

    even if the data is comming with some delay between them. how will you check that is duplicate message or not unless you use lookup or BPM in it to compare two independent messages at runtime.
    My idea would be! instead of trying to put a validation at PI.
    check in the source system whats causing their application to generate duplicate messages in first place and send it to PI.
    check whats the issue over there and ask them to rectify it or rather not to trigger duplicate data. (it would be easier to control this from source application).
    PS: even if we find a way to stop duplicate messages to be processed inside PI. its unnecessary load for PI.

  • File to RFC to File  Asynchronus

    Hi
      I have an a scenario that is I'm sending  a request to an RFC throgh  a File..  and based on that RFC will execute and it will send the results to the another file.. this is my requirement.. for this how can i approach.. (Request sending file name is  different and Responce getting file is different  but the RFC is the same only ..)
    any body please provide me the  suggestion..
    Thanks
    babu

    Hi Babu,
    This senario can be done in two ways using BPM and Using RFC Lookups,
    Using BPM its an performance issue and maximum avoid to use it.In ur senario we can use RFC lookups,
    Create an RFC Adapter.In Interfaces objects create two date types both are of file Sender file structure and receiver File structure.
    In mapping u have to take sender as file and receiver as file only.In mapping u have to write RFC Lookup code were in the Code u have to call the RFC adapter and u have to pass all the incoming values into that and the responce which u will get from the UDF(RFC Lookup) Code that  should be mapped to the target side file.
    I have done the same senario in my project,I will work and it will be simple file to file senario were in mapping u will call RFC.

  • PI 7.1: RFC Lookup Graphically in BPM

    Hi,
    I want to do a RFC lookup to XI abap stack in my graphical mapping.
    The problem is my mapping is defined in a transformation step inside my BPM, and I'm not able to link my RFC CC to the Import parameter. Has anyone experience with this sort of flow yet, is this even possible because I don't have a receiver agreement because it's BPM?
    I only can link following Container Element types: Simple Type / Abstract Interface / Receiver
    SAP Library don't even talk about BPM's for the lookups:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/33/1ec6ced273493a993a80c2301c03da/frameset.htm
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Wouter.

  • Help on BPM Steps (Lookups are not allowed, so only BPM)

    Hi Experts,
    Please help me to design the BPM for the following process (A mandatory rule is Lookups are not allowed so I must finish this with out using lookups.)
    Step1. We get a file from FTP, Once we get  the file, We need to get the next unique identification number from a webservice(a sync call, As per our rule, u201CNot to use  lookupsu201D).By the way there is no relation between the data fields for the FTP file and this SOAP call, i.e. the SOAP request is having constants as inpput.,but once I receive the file then only I need to make a call to get the next unique identification number.
    Step2. Once we receive the unique identification number from the SOAP call, I need to merge this identification number with the file (I have received from the FTP in STEP1) and then needs to send to a RFC which is a sync call again and it returns a logical number.After getting this logical number then only go the next step(The returned logical number means a confirmation for us,i.e after getting the number just go to next step)
    Step3. After getting the logical number from RFC, I need to send the obtained unique identification number( Of Step1, Webservices Unique identification) to another FTP as asynch.
    This one is easy when we use lookups, but we have a condition u201Cnot to use lookups!u201D  so please suggest me the steps(BPM) to do, which donu2019t let the BPM down.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Rahul.

    Your complete BPM design will be:
    Receuve(FILE_ABS_Async)->Transformation(ToPutConstantsInTheSOAPReq)->SyncSend(SOAP_ABS_Sync)->Transformation(Needed, format will be 2:1; will have FileMSG_&_SOAPResp as source MSGs and RFCReq as target MSG)->SyncSend(RFC_ABS_Sync)->Switch(To Check if the RFC Logical Number does not exist...if it does not exist then in the condition branch of the Switch put a Control Step (action as Cancel Process)->If RFC Logical Number present then otherwise branch will be executed( nothing to be placed in this otherwise branch)-->Transformation(SOAPRespMSG of SOAP Sync step into FILE message format)-> Send(FILE_ABS_Async)......
    Wherever you have sync send steps put them in a block and insert an exception branch in that Block....in the exception branch put some logic which will be executed when there is an error in the Sync Call.....so your BPM wont fail even if the Sync Send fails.....

    Abhishek.

  • Need help with a lookup on a IDoc element for BPM

    Hello All,
       I was wondering if there is someway that I can lookup on the <b>E1EDKA1</b>segment and get the value of <b>NAME1</b> where the value of <b>PARVW = LF</b> in BPM. I appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    HI,
    To get value of element/container variable , you cna use first context object, based on context object put switch (aslo some block/fork step ) with condition , stating that if that value of context element is matched then put control step to raise alert.
    i think you got this ,if not please let me know to explain clearly.
    Any way please see some links regarding alert..
