Loop slideshow or movie clips
does anyone know how to loop the slideshows and movie clips on IMOVIE 6 just like u do on IDVD??
Ranjandeep,
You can't in iMovie.
But if you play your finished movie back with QuickTime you can.
Just output your movie using Share>QuickTime>Full Quality DV.
Then play the movie with QuickTime Player and choose View>Loop.

Combining slideshow with movie clip?
Hello
I have about 20 good quality photos and a one-hour movie clip that I would like to combine. The final product will go on a DVD. All the photos will appear before the movie, which is a 25 fps PAL standard. I think that means the frame size is 720x576. The photos are a little more awkward because while most are landscape in orientation, a few are portrait.
Would it be best to create a slideshow for the photos in Elements Organiser, followed by the video clip, or would it be best to import each photo along the Pre Elements Timeline to be followed by the video clip? Can a slideshow created in Organiser be imported into the PrE Timeline? It is important that the transition from one to the other is seamless, and it is essential that I can have a soundtrack to accompany the photos.
Finally, if I may, given the frame size of the video, what size should the photos be? The originals are quite large at the moment.
Thanks for any advise which I will follow closely.
SteveSteve
You say that your source is PAL standard @ 25 frames per second.
If the project preset is set to PAL NTSC Standard, then you should not have any black borders when you import that file into the
project set with the PAL NTSC Standard project preset.
Because of your black black borders in the monitor display of the import, I suspect that your source is really PAL DV Widescreen and not PAL DV Standard.
So, to correct that, then we start again with the settings, and this time set the project preset for PAL DV Widescreen for the import side of things.
And, then, for the export side of things, use
Publish+Share
Disc
DVD
with Presets = PAL_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.
The "Default Scale to Frame Size" will have the project automatically scaling your import image to the frame size specified by the project preset....
If PAL DV Standard 720 x 576....if PAL DV Widescreen 720 x 576 stretched to about 1050 x 476 by a 16:9 flag, giving the display resolution for PAL DV Widescreen.
about 1050 x 576.
Please check it out, and determine if that works for you.
Thanks.

How do I/can I create a slideshow button but within the slideshow drag in some short movie clips?
Hi NototiousIG - and welcome from me as well!
What you want to do is not that hard.
I would suggest that you make the slide show, with the video in the middle, a seperate chapter. That will give you a Chapter Button in iDVDs sub-menu, which of course you can call what you like.
The audio can be imported from iTunes. If it is from your own CD, then convert (save) that track as an AIFF file before import (saves i bit of rendering time). If purchased from iTunes Store, you may find you have to burn it to a CD and re-import it to iTunes before it will import into iMovie.
When it comes to burning the finished DVD, you may find that the rendering of audio takes longer than anything else. This is normal - don't panic, do not shut down iDVD in desperation, and do not have any other application running at the time.
One last word of advice: be careful what transitions you chose between a still photo and the video. A bit of experimentation goes a long way!

Problems coding a button within a movie clip to navigate scenes
Hello there! I've got another probably noobish question to ask about CS6.
My goal is very similar to the one mentioned in this previously discussed forum question: http://forums.adobe.com/message/837995#837995 and also in this question http://forums.adobe.com/message/4172919#4172919
I am attempting to make a button inside a movie clip in my first scene go when clicked to the first frame of my second scene. I named the button's instance menu_button_1 and I believe Scene 1 and Scene 2 are the names of the scenes. (If they should have special names or instance names, I did not see where to type them.) Because of the similarities, I attempted to follow the suggestions on those pages. However I probably did some small thing wrong, (Or heck, maybe a huge thing.) which I what I'd like help with to find.
stop();
myButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickHandler);
function clickHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndStop(1, "Scene 1");
This seemed to be what was suggested to enter. I attempted to modify it to work for me as well. This is what I typed for the button's action.
menu_button_1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickHandler);
function clickHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndPlay(1, "Scene 2");
(I removed the stop function because I have music looping in the movie clip that I want to play until the mouse is clicked.) (Also, I picked gotoandplay because I wanted scene 2 to start playing immediately when clicked rather than stopping.)
I tried variations, including "2" instead of "scene 2" and whatnot. I also tried linking it to differnet places just to see if that would work. It seems like it could link if I only asked for a frame within the movie clip itself, but it couldn't go to any other frames in scene 1 or scene 2. When I attempt, this message is displayed in the output:
ArgumentError: Error #2108: Scene 2 was not found.
at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndPlay()
at interactivestgermant_fla::menu_1/clickHandler()
It seems it cannot find my Scene 2. (It also cannot seem to find Scene 1 when I prompt it to do that.) I'm afraid I'm not sure of what I've entered incorrectly, though I'd imagine it involves how I typed the scene navigation. Should it have an instance name or something? I'd very muchappreciate a push in the right direction. If you need any more info I'll be happy to provide it. Thanks for the help! I very much appreciate it.I bet you're absolutely right. However I am not sure how I am misnaming it, as to my ametuer eyes, it seems to be entered properly into the properties box? It does show up as "menu" written in white over the keyframes and also in the properties slot. I can include some images here to help out in correcting me.
http://girlfoxgirl.deviantart.com/art/Flash-Help-1-395704638 This image shows my movie clip. This seems to be the problem it's having, identifying "menu." Did I do that incorrectly? It looks to be in order.
http://girlfoxgirl.deviantart.com/art/Flash-Help-2-395704633 This is inside of the movie clip named menu. You can see I did the same to name the button menu_button_1.
http://girlfoxgirl.deviantart.com/art/Flash-Help-3-395704627 This shows the action I gave to menu_button_1 in which I attempt to have it naviagte to Scene 1 frame 493.
http://girlfoxgirl.deviantart.com/art/Flash-Help-4-395704623 This shows where I'd like the button to go to. (It is hard to tell if that's frame 493 or 492. I figured that it should be ok either way and if this frame is 492 then it's easily changed once I get the darn thing working in general) (Also, I named the layer "peanuts." I tired entering the name "peanuts" as well but it didn't seem to work either, so I figured "493" is easier since I know that you can go to a specific frame by doing gotoandplay("scene 1" , #) and I'm not sure if it requires any additional stuff to go to a name.
http://girlfoxgirl.deviantart.com/art/Flash-Help-5-395704687 These are the errors I get. I totally agree with you- It seems very much to be an issue of getting it to recognize the "menu." However I am unsure where I named something wrong. Is this enough info to help you perhaps point out where that is? -

Subject : Slideshow looks bad
Hello guys
I have a project in my Final Cut just about done. I want to add my slideshow as part ofthe project and burn it to DVD. Inmy slideshow, there are some stills from the movie clips and some downloadedfrom the internet but they all look blur when playback and even worse if Iapply Ken Burn to it. Pleasesome one can tell my how to do it right or it can’t be done because thedownload quality and stills from the clip are not suitable or slideshow. Thank you
PSCThank you Ross.
The entire DVD containing Quick Time movies (Final CutExpress project) and slideshow was done in iPhoto. The Final Cut project was rendered prior to export to QT, the slideshow was sent to iDVD withoutrendering. The slideshow with most of the pictures from my still camera incombination with stills from movie clips and some downloaded from the Internet.After burning, the movie playback is perfect but the slideshow is not. The slideshow containing 3 differentkinds of pictures; those from my still camera looks OK; the stills from themovie clips and from the Internet are not. I don’t have much knowledge in this game, but I think NTSCwith frame size 720x480, and the downloaded picture Item Property shows most ofthem are between 400 to 500 x 300 to 600, may be both of them are not suitablefor TV screen while the stills from my still camera looks OK because they are2048x1536. Please enlightenme. Once again, thank you so much,I really appreciate the time you offered.

Dynamic text in looping movie clip
Hi,
I am looping a movie clip which has a dynamic text box. I
need to call data from XML and place the same in the Dynamic text
box as per the duplicated movie clip. how do i do that.
Thanks,
Ayushon (release) {
_parent.frontFields.topTextArch.ph2TopTextBrush._visible =
false;
That is the script attached to my button. I can see the text
flash for a second when I push the button but it does'nt go away
because the looping movie clip just continually goes back to the
first frame and makes the ph2TopTextBrush text field visible again.
I think I know what your saying. Your saying to attach a
script to the first frame of the looping movie clip that would
check to see which of the 3 dynamic text fields are visible. That
would be perfect but I'm not sure how to do it.
What would the script that I place on my button look like?
What would the script in the first frame of the looping movie clip
look like? -
Hi i am having trouble with having a looping background movie
clip on the bottom layer of my flash project. I have it on the
bottom layer in the first frame, above it i have some menus fading
in and it seems as though once it gets to this scene, it just plays
the movie clip over and over and never goes to the 2nd frame of my
scene. Is there anyway to have a looping background movie clip
inside of flash 8?
Thank you in advance,
TylerYou can use a variable to keep count of how many times you loop, and until it exceeds a particulr value (2 or 3) you execute a setTimeout() call that waits for however long you want to delay and then tells the movieclip to gotoAndPlay(1).
So in the first frame you would establish the counting variable...
var count;
if(count == undefined){ // only set it to 0 once
count = 0;
and in the last frame you would do your incrementing and control....
stop();
count += 1;
if(count < 3){
setTimeout(waitABit, 2000); // call function in 2 secs
function waitABit(){
gotoAndPlay(1); -
So I got this video that is streaming from the server on the stage (starting a new movie clip). I then have a mask over it to create a diamond shaped movie clip. However, once I take it into the main timeline and export as movie...when I view it--it is not looping...it's only playing once. Any ideas on what's going on? THANKS!
I found the answer via http://www.kristenstephenson.net/?p=333&cpage=1#comment-259. Working code:
import fl.video.VideoEvent;
ksvid.autoRewind = true; // fl_video being the name of the video component
ksvid.addEventListener(VideoEvent.AUTO_REWOUND, doLoop);
function doLoop(e:VideoEvent):void
e.target.play();
The only difference from her way of placement was that because I have the f4v as a progressive download in a movie clip as a flash playback with a mask (*pheww)...I had to make a cuepoint at the end of the video and then place the actionscript within the movie clip as its own layer.

Looping a movie clip a specific number of times in Flash
Does anyone know how to get a movie clip to loop a specific number of times in Flash? I know how to stop a movie clip from looping by using the this.stop (); command by placing the command in a separate Action Script layer, in a keyframe, inside of the movie clip's timeline. This allows the movie clip to play through once and then stop. But I need for the movie clip to loop more than once, maybe 2 or 3 times, and then go back to the main timeline. Does anyone know the code for this?
Also, is it possible to place a pause (I'm guessing, maybe by using a timer of some type?) between the loops, so that the movie will pause a couple of seconds before it loops again and then stop? Please note I do not need the movie clip to stop when there's an event like a rollover or anything. I just need it to play a couple of times, pause between plays and then stop and go back to the main timeline. Please let me know if anyone can help.
Thanks,
Sarah
P.S. Is there a good, easy to use, reference book anyone can recommend for creating specific things in Flash using Action Script? Do you guys have a favorite for beginners like me?You can use a variable to keep count of how many times you loop, and until it exceeds a particulr value (2 or 3) you execute a setTimeout() call that waits for however long you want to delay and then tells the movieclip to gotoAndPlay(1).

Stop(); not working. Movie clip is looping.(AS2)
I have made a movie clip that needs to play till the last frame and then stop there, but not dissapear. Right now, as I am putting the command stop(); on the first frame of the movie clip and on the last frame too, nothing is changing, the movie clip is still looping and does not stop at all.
What could be the problem?
p.s. I am really a beginner in Adobe Flash.Can you show a screenshot of the timeline and where the stop() command are placed? If stop(); is the only code you are using then it sounds like you are putting the code in the wrong place.

How can I put a slideshow on automatic with movie clips longer than 2 minutes?
How can I put a slideshow on "automatic" with movie clips that are longer than 2 minutes?
Inspector > Animate > start transition to Automatically and set the delay to the duration of the video clip.

Looping movie clip stops in middle
I am using a movie clip as part of a game. It's a clip of a
spaceman walking.
When the game is being played, the movie seems to loop one
time (the spaceman walks one cycle), and on the second time around
the animation seems to stop right in the middle of the cycle. it
always stops on the same frame.
What is happening here?
Thank youOkay, great, and what about the last line? What is that for?
Do i put my keylistener info after that line?
I'm still a little puzzled about where to put the script that
you just offered me.
But before I get to that, let me ask you a question about my
current code. Below I've pasted the beginning of the code that I
have for Key Down. My question is: Is this code going to execute
over and over again? Is this code a "key listener"?
_root.onKeyDown = function() {
///keyDOWN!!!
whichKey = Key.getAscii();
if ((whichkey == _root.jumpkey) or (whichkey ==
_root.jumpkeycaps)) {
if (_root.mov == "walkleft") {
_root.mov = "jumpleft";
_root.vertspeed = 24;
if (_root.mov == "walkright") {
_root.mov = "jumpright";
_root.vertspeed = 24;
if (mov.toLowerCase().indexOf("stop") != -1) {
_root.mov = "jumpup";
_root.vertspeed = 24;

Captivate movie clips looping in Flash
I've read the discussions on the forum, but nothing seems to
be able to stop a captivate 2 movie clip from looping when brought
into Flash. I exported the captivate movie with the default values,
converted it to a movie clip in Flash8 so I could resize it,
brought the movie clip into the Flash movie by dragging it to the
stage. Everything looks great, but I can't stop the clip from
looping. Stop commands placed within the movie clip seem to have no
effect nor do commands put on the main timeline.

Can I include movie clips be played in the LR4's Slideshow module?
Hi, I'am just starting to learn about LR's SlideShow module. I recently returned from a vacation in eastern Europe and want to create a slideshow of my best pictures and short movie clips. The slideshow is mostly still photography, but I also want to play a few of the clips shot in movie mode and play these clips inside the slideshow. Is this possible in LR4's Slideshow module?
No, unfortunately that is not possible in this version.
Other people have felt the same need though: you can support this by adding your vote in the feature request forum
