Looping through a month to count the number of Mondays etc
Can someone give me some pointers about where I'm going wrong here please? (No, this isn't a homework but I am trying to solve something). I want to be able to loop through the days in the previous month to find out how many Mondays, Tuesdays etc so that I can work out something else. Yes, I have read all the API information about Calendar,GregorianCalendar etc and I have a mental block about loops and the answer is probably very simple so please be gentle!

I can find out how many days are in the previous month( I think!) and what the code is for today- but what am I not getting here? My loop just gives 0 31 times.
Any constructive help would be much appreciated.

I am looking for a streamlined way of calculating an amount to invoice for a job that I am paid for weekly, but for which I invoice monthly, meaning that I am invoicing different amounts each month, depending on how many Mondays fall in a given month (i.e. 4 or 5).
So I am wondering if there is a function I can use to calculate the number of Mondays in a given month automatically and then I can use this value to multiply by my weekly charge to calculate the amount to invoice each month.

Depends what information you need.
If you need the count for only one week day, then a table showing only the count for that day of week will avoid having to search it out.
If you need the number of occurrences of each weekday in each month, then a table showing those, with or without an attached calendar, is in order.
Here's one that shows the count of each weekday for each month. It uses two formulas, derived from the earlier posts by Yvan and Jerry:
B1: =DATE($A,COLUMN()-1,1)
B2: =IF(AND(DAY(EOMONTH(B$1,0))>28,MOD(WEEKDAY(EOMONTH(B$1,0))+7-(ROW()-1),7)<(DAY( EOMONTH(B$1,0))-28)),5,4)
The formula in B1 is filled right to M1, and the cells are formatted to show only the Month and Year. Note that the cells actually contain Date and Time values, which are used in the second formula's calculations.
The formula in B2 is filled right to M2 and Down to M8.
Day names in column A are entered directly and are not used in the calculations.
The 4 digit year number is entered directly in A1. Change this number to change the year.

Don't worry, it seems to be complex but in fact it's simple.

To be fair, I must add that I used my good old tip : build the formula by small pieces then replace references to cells by the formulas embedded in these cells.

How can I count the number of times a timed loop finished late?
I am getting occasional timing errors in a timed loop under windows XP and would like to count the number of errors, but I can't find a simple software counter vi
The timed loop has a terminal (boolean) to indicate if the previous iteration finished late. Just increment an integer shift register if this happens.

How to count the number of Rows to be Updated before Update takes place..

I have a requirement, where i have to count the number of rows to be updated before updating it. SQL%ROWCOUNT gives the no. of rows updated ( after update takes place). How do i get to know the count of no. of rows to be updated/inserted/ deleted. I was looking for a simple solution, as above SQL%Rowcount. But i couldn't find any. I can use a Function and Return the value which will give me number of rows to be updated, But is there any Simple Logic other than this.. or any count function. Your Help is Appreciated. Thanks!If you really want to do this (I have no clue why you would need it), then you can piggy back on any existing pessimistic locking you may already have in place.
However, it would require two loops through the records of which you want to know the count before you update, and a second pass to update them.
I would really re-think the need for this, though.

Counting the number of occurences in a table column

I have a table with a column that contains approx. 5000 6-digit codes. A number of these codes are duplicted in the column, and I want to count the number of occurences of each code. The column looks a bit like -

There can be mulitple instances of each WCID and I need to count the number of instances of each. I also have access to another table that also has a column of each WCID, but only once - ie no multiple instances. The second table is identical except that there are only single instances of each WCID.
I thought I could either loop through on the table to be counted, from 100000 to 999999 and count each occurence that way, but it would be very inefficient. The other way I thought would be to perhaps select a WCID from the unique table, count the occurence of that, select the next WCID from the unique table, count that and so on, however I'm not sure how to do it in PL/SQL. Perhaps select the WCID from the unique table into a cursor, loop through that and compare it with the original table and count the instances?
I hope this makes some sense, any help would be really appreciated

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to count the number od the documents based on Content Types.
As a workaround, you can create two columns to store the count of documents for your two content types. Then create a loop action to loop all documents, if content type is equal to your content type A, do a calculate to plus 1 to the numberA, then update
the column numberA. Do a same if condition in the loop for your content type B.

I am new to Labview. I have labview 8.2 version and my dataacquisition is NIDAQPAD6015. I could write a program to generate a sine wave of desired frequency through simulate signal. My question is how do i measure the number of cycles for this sine wave as soon as I run the program. Hope my question is clear.
Ravi MokiralaTo find the offset (which in this case is the Y value midpoint around which the sine wave is symetrical):
Capture more than one cycle. Find the min and max values. Subtract Min from Max and divide by 2. Then subtract this result from the Max value (or add the result to the Min value). This is the offset.
To count the number of cycles where the offset is unknown, just use the first data point value as a reference. If the next data point is more positive, then count the number of times that the first data point is repeated and the next data point is more positive. Of course with DBL data type, you probably would not get the exact same value as the first data point, so you need to use In Range with a very tiny limit. It all depends on your signal amplitude, frequency, and sampling rate.
Example: Lets say your first data point value is 0.5 and the 2nd point is 0.55. You need to look for another value that is between 0.48 and 0.52. Then read the very next data point value. If it is greater than the previous value, add one to the cycle count. If it is less than, you are at half a cycle, do not add to the count.

Needed your inputs on approach to implement a job using dbms_scheduler.
We have around 2000 schemas. Each schema has a package with 2 procedures.
The requirement is to create a single job in SYS that would loop through each schema and run the procedures at a specific time ( once a day) and send email notification on success or failure.

Table1 and table1 exist in schema_01.
All 2000 schemas have same package.procedures.
Due to security reasons i have removed the actual code.
I was able to execute the job successfully. However, when a schema procedure (SCHEMA_01.pkg_audit_info.p_load_COA) throws an exception, the job fails and all transaction is rolled back.
Is there a way to loop through each schema and execute the related procedures. Even if exception happens, it should rollback only for that schema and continue the other schemas in the loop?
Please let me know if there is a better way to achieve this. Is the way i am handling exceptions in the job/procedure correct?

RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR will cause the program to exit back to the caller, even if you place it in a block within the loop, so the RAISE or RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR instruction should be placed in your "pkg_audit_info.p_load_AM" and "pkg_audit_info.p_load_coa" procedures. This way, you can use a block inside the loop and log the error.
