Loops Not Available in GarageBand

Help? My sons are anxious to get going with our new computer. We just got our new iMac, and when they open GarageBand, all the instrument loops are greyed out. When they try clicking on one, it tells us we have to "download and install." We go through the motions - still, nothing. It always goes back to asking us to to download and install. Am I doing something wrong?

I had the same question, and the link provided doesn't really answer it unfortunately.
My purchase of a Mac Mini came with iLife and Garageband pre-installed, but without loops. When the app directs to the system update there are no files to download. The simple answer would be to install them from the iLife disk however as this was pre-installed I was not provided with the iLife disks, just the Tiger disks and Leopard upgrade disk.
Whats the best way to get hold of these loops?

  • Plug-ins not available when opening Garageband song with Logic-Pro 7.0.1

    Can anyone help?
    Whilst on the move recently I found myself composing a piece using Garageband. However when I got back to the studio and attempted to open the song using Logic Pro 7.0.1 I get:
    Core Audio: Plug-in "BassAmpSi" not available! then
    Core Audio: Plug-in "Hybrid Bas" not available!
    As these must be Garageband instruments I don't understand why they're "not available" or what to do to make them available.
    Any ideas?

    I googled this topic and found a Logic forum - they said you should update your software to 7.1, then the problem vanishes.

    Yeah! Had a bad experience with Tiger! My fault!
    I Believed all the hype that I just had to update to Tiger as soon as it came out. So a multiple licence later and a day or so installing it all the computers in the studio I then find out that Pro-Tools wasn't compatible and had to back everything up and reformat my HD and re-install 10.3.9 which took about a year. I know it all works now (in theory) but with so much work on the go I'm shying off chancing it.

  • Loops not installed properly

    I have GarageBand 8 on config below. Not all the loops are available - many are greyed out. If I click on any of the greyed options a dialog box comes up saying "you have already initated the installation of additional content for GarageBand via Software Update. For additional information please open the Software Update application'. I do, and the last reference to GarageBand Log Entry says "2007-10-20 12:09:45 +1000: Installed "GarageBand Update" (4.1)." Other than that, nothing. GB seems to have initiated a process which hasn't been closed. It won't give me the option of installing from the DVD again. What to do.

  • Loops not in browser

    Trying to load loops into loop browser, garageband says " loops not in garageband format will not be displayed in browser' - this has not happened before.
    aiff files were shown, how to get browser to show aiff loops?

    this is all a bit much for me; GB on my laptop (G4 PB ) accepts these loops, and GB on my PB is currently running as should. The problem occured when I copied the song over to my mates G5, so I could ( supposedly ) enjoy the benefits of G5 power and speed. All that happened was a series of errors as the copied song ( which still opens ok on the PB ) such as not finding files etc; From here things got worse as I tried to reload loops and at first it all worked, then loops not recognised, and then finally, loops will not show in browser.
    I have a copy of the song bsck on my PB and it loads runs and sees loops just fine; plus, all the loops load into GB and are seen.
    End state is that I have a prope running GB with all loops on my PB, but my mate now has a non working GB on his G5

    Using the search bar, it seems it's a proxy issue, but finding a simple solution did not seem apparent.  Have you tried a reboot?  To reboot, hold the power and home buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds (hold past the swipe to shut down bar, should it appear) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go fo both buttons and your iPad will restart.  Hopefully, this will solve the problem......

  • Some loops not showing.

    i installed gb3 on top of gb1, i found almost every loop appears twice in the loop browser. i then trashed the old "apple loops for garageband" folder and the old "apple loops index" folder.
    after that, problem solved, but some loops are now missing in the loop browser. i've checked, the "missing" loops are still in the loop folder.
    why would that happen?

    Make sure Keyword BRowsing is turned off in GB's prefs. Also any loops not in the same time signature as your song won't be displayed.

  • LVM Volumes not available after update

    Hi All!
    I haven't updated my system for about two months and today I updated it. Now I have the problem that I cannot boot properly. I have my root partition in an LVM volume and on boot I get the message
    ERROR: device 'UUID=xxx' not found. Skipping fs
    ERROR: Unable to find root device 'UUID=xxx'
    After that I land in the recovery shell. After some research I found, that "lvm lvdisplay" showed that my volumes where not available and I had to reenable them with "lvm vgchange -a y".
    Issuing any lvm command also produced the following warning:
    WARNING: lvmetad is running but disabled. Restart lvmetad before enabling it!
    Anyway, after issuing the commands and exiting the recovery shell, the system booted again. However, I would prefer being able to boot without manual actions.

  • Error message: "the previously selected audio interface is not available"

    HELP?!?!?!?!?
    I'm stuck, and I can't go forward. Here's my issue:
    I've bought a Focusrite Saffire LE, a simple firewire audio interface, for use with my Logic Express 7 (with all the latest updates). I run the setup assistant and select my saffire as the audio interface to use, and then when logic runs I get the message "the previously selected audio interface is not available" and it defaults to my Macbook Pro's internal microphone and speakers.
    Just for sanity I've tested the audio interface with garageband and it's fine. My other audio apps aso run fine using the saffire as the audio interface. The setup assistant for logic has no problem finding the saffire, so why does it get rejected as soon as logic starts?!?!?
    Please - this is driving me crazy.

    I asked Focusrite for some help, and they said it should work (which I knew) and made some suggestions. Here's their email:
    "Saffire LE should work fine in Logic Express.
    Try resetting your logic preferences. Go to Logic > preferences > initialise all except key commands.
    Do you still have the same problem?
    Do you have any other firewire devices attached?
    Have you had any other interfaces installed in the past?"
    All good suggestions, but so far no luck.
    Has someone else got the same config as me? (15" Macbook Pro and focusrite saffire le)?

  • Amplitube is not available  after upgrading  OSX 10.4.8 to 10.5.4

    Hi I have enjoyed using Amplitube X-gear (with Amplitube 2.0, Metal, Hendrix and Amplitube Live) for months. I have upgraded to OSX 10.5.4 recently. Now only Amplitube Jimmy Hendrix is available in Logic. I installed the latest updates for Logic and now running 8.02. I have just checked Garageband... and there is no problem. The entire Amplitube set is ok, all available in Garageband. Any idea...?

    I just did as you said. I have run preferences/audio units manager and re-scanned ... i had to force them to recheck. No, when I open a project that uses Amplitube Logic doesn't give me a warning about Amplitube not being available. Instead in the channel strip/inserts drop down menu/audio units/[incompatible]/IK Multimedia/Amplitube...
    Funny, but it works. Is there any way i could fix this, i mean go back to normal. I don't want to have any trouble with htis when working...?

  • Error on extend an internal table, but the required space was not available

    Hi All,
    I am trying to retrieve cost data from COVP tables, as well as the quantity, cost centre, and price unit fields from MSEG / BSEG tables. Thing is, if the AWTYP value in COVP table = 'MKPF', i have to get the data from MSEG, otherwise, I need to get it from BSEG table.
    I kept getting this error message:
    <i>You attempted to extend an internal table, but the required space was not available.</i>
    Anyone have any idea how to make my codes more efficient?

  • ICC Profiles Not Available in InDesign CS4

    Hello all-
    I have a lot of ICC profiles installed on my system (OS X 10.6.2); some are in /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ and some are in ~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/.
    They are not available in InDesign CS4, even though every other app (including Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat) see them just fine.
    Is this a know issue/bug with CS4 and Snow Leopard? I don't recall having this issue on my old machine.

    This morning I couldn't launch Illustrator CS4, it kept crashing at launch. Scanning through the OS X crashlog I noticed 511 "Iterative Profile" errors:
    ###  com.apple.ColorSync               0x91e1981d iterateProfilesInDirectory + 1020
    I went into my /Library/ColorSync/Profiles folder and noticed there was now an alias pointing into Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/, which already contained an alias back to /Library/ColorSync/Profiles to get around the InDesign issue (as described above, which was working fine to this point). This created an infinite loop...
    I did not create this new alias... any idea where it might have come from?
    (Adobe needs to fix InDesign so it looks in the correct locations for profiles... the user shouldn't have to resort to manipulating aliases to enable profiles that are otherwise in the correct locations, and why do Adobe apps need their own profiles folder anyway????? As with their private Fonts folder, it does nothing but over-complicate matters...)

  • DBMS_PROPAGATION_ADM.CREATE_PROPAGATION not available in Oracle 8i

    Hi,
    I need to propagate message from queue in Oracle 8i to queue in Oracle 9i.
    From Oracle 9i, I am able to propagate message by creating subscriber and creating propagation by
    DBMS_PROPAGATION_ADM.create_propagation.
    I am using same steps to propagate message from queue in Oracle 8i to queue in Oracle 9i.
    However, DBMS_PROPAGATION_ADM.create_propagation is not available in Oracle 8i.
    Is there any alternate way of propagating message from Oracle 8i ?

    create a PL/SQL function in your Oracle8 database that can dequeue the message from your Oracle8 queue; this function will call DBMS_AQ.DEQUEUE to read the message object. Lets call it DEQUEUE8;
    In the function, break out the object into its members (the individual scalar elements of the object type) and return those as OUT parameters. Use the function return value to tell you success or failure (eg timeout).
    Now, from Oracle 9, call that procedure remotely across a database link:
    declare
      ... variables
    begin
      -- loop for ever (or at least until you get a stop signal of some type)
       while 1=1 loop
         result := dequeue8@orcl8(p1, p2, p3, ...);
         if result < 0 then
          ... report error
         else
            ... pack the values p1,....p3, ... into your Oracle9 payload object, then
            DBMS_AQ.ENQUEUE(...);
         end if;
      end loop;
    end;I'll leave it to you to do the hard work!
