Loosing memory in jms ??

Hi,
          Here are the details:
          OS: RHEL 4
JVM: BEA WebLogic JRockit(TM) 1.4.2_08 JVM R24.5.0-61 Version ari-49095-20050826-1856-linux-ia32 from BEA Systems, Inc.
          WLS: 8.1.4 (Clustered, 1 Admin, 2 Managed)
JMS: 1 JMS Servers on each of the Managed Servers with File Based Backing Store.
          Processing Details:
Messages are posted to an Input Distributed Queue.
Application managed Threads (AMT) act as synchronous consumers for the Dist. Queue.
AMT?s dispatch messages to Stateless Session Bean (SSB) for processing.
SSB uses Entity Beans for persisting message details.
SSB sends an output message (per input message) to Distributed Topic(s).
Both Output and Input Messages are persistent.
What we are seeing is a continuous loss of memory(heap) in this processing. Profiling has shown none of the application objects lingering around. However we see a lot of weblogic.jms.backend.MessageReference, weblogic.jms.common.Counter, weblogic.jms.common.JMSMessageId, weblogic.jms.store.StoreEntry, weblogic.jms.common.MessageTime, weblogic.jms.common.ObjectMessageImpl, weblogic.jms.store.FileIOHeap$Chunk object instances.
These don't go away after gc etc.
Any idea what could be causing this ?
          Thanx,

Hi Tom,
I see around 900K instances of weblogic.jms.backend.BEMessageReference (which looks like a LinkedList node).
I see references to this from weblogic.jms.backend.BEMessageList.
weblogic.jms.backend.BEMessageList is referenced by several weblogic.jms.backend.BE* types.
It looks like weblogic.jms.backend.BEMessageReference is a skeleton which points to messsages sent to the JMS Queue (and Topic ??).
(pagedState = 3 if that helps).
So even though there are no un-consumed/un-processed messages why do we have these skeletons.
I will see if I can have a reproducer.
I got this problem in 8.1.6 as well.

  • Need help with internal HD memory problems when using Premiere Pro?

When using PP I keep loosing memory on my HD.
Now this seems strange to me since I have every thing, all my video and audio files on external HDs.
Each time I time I make a new project I end up with less space on my internal HD.
Information related to these projects is somehow remaining on my internal HD.
Anyone got any ideas about what I might be doing wrong?
    Dimitrije

Premiere will slowly compile various files to help the project along, and the default place is usually your internal hard drive. Make sure your scratch disks are pointed to an external hard drive if that is what you want, also, make sure the Media Cache Files are being created on your external as well (and not the default location which is on your local drive).
    Premiere Preferences > Media
Media Cache Files & Media Cache Database should be changed to an external disk if you don't want them created on your local disk. There are many tutorials and explanations about all of these aspects of Premiere on these forums and from other sources. Hope that helps!

  • JMS limiting number of messages

Is there a way to limit the number of messages or the amount of memory a jms queue uses? Currently having a problem with a queue bringing down the entire system when it gets flooded with messages.

  • External dll call memory leak

    Hi,
My VI calls a function in a dll in a loop for a long period of time.
I've noticed that after couple of hours it starts loosing memory.
It seems like the LabViews consumption of memory stays constant but the System looses memory.
I've checked the dll in .Net application and I'm sure that there is no such a problem there.
This is how my VI is organized:

I don't see anything either. But can you maybe post how the dll function is declared in it's header file (with all the macro definitions if any are used in the function prototype) as well as a screenshot of the NI prototype found in the "Call library function" node.
Can you also clarify if the RAM usage is again decreased once the application ends or if it stays at the increased level. In one case it's a memory leak while in the other case it might simply be that LabVIEW needs a lot of RAM to do whatever calculations you do with the data (although 1GB does seem like a lot).

  • Database toolkit memory leaks

I have memory leaks in my Labview application connecting and inserting data into a MSSQL server using Labview Database Toolkit.
    Versions: Labview 7.1, Toolkit 1.0.1.
I have searched the forums and searhed everywhere else...I see there are some issues. (For example List tables vi). Removing the list tables vi helped a lot. But I can still see that I'm loosing memory here and there, now and then.
My question is: Is there any general guidlines to prevent all memory leaks mentioned?
Or possibly, will it all go away if I upgrade the versions. (As I understand I have too update Labview to be able to update the Toolkit?)

Memory Leak in the Database Toolset in DB Tools Open Schema VI
The DB Tools Open Schema VI leaks memory which if called continuously eventually causes a LabVIEW crash. This is a sub VI of the DB Tools Insert Data VI.
Workaround—At the highest level, if you are continuously updating values in a table, make sure the table already exists and leave the Create Table input to the DB Tools Insert Data VI set to FALSE.
Other than this, the most important thing is to close all references...

  • Memory usage jumps from 3 to 5 GB in less than 24 hrs!

I have an iPhone 3GS with 8GB and iOS 5.1.1
Practical available memory is usually 6+GB
Yesterday, when I last backed up, my memory was about half full, a combination of music (0.9GB), photos (0.16GB) and apps (1.4GB).
Just now, not even 24 hrs later, I see my memory usage has jumped up to nearly 5GB, leaving only 1.57GB free. When I look in iTunes, the yellow "other" bar now accounts for 2.2GB but I know I did not add anything there.
The only new thing is that system settings notifies me it wants to install iOS6. I do not want to upgrade. Could it be that the phone downloaded the upgrade, even though I did not tell it to?
If it is not the new OS waiting to be installed, what could it possibly be? And how do I get rid of all that bloat?
    Please advise, thanks in advance!

As much as it drives me nuts loosing memory to Other I've decided the best way for it not to be annoying is to never sync or update any software again, I'm very good at being an ostrich when I want to.
I backup my contacts with an iPhone app, all Gmail emails are store permanently on the Gmail server, any music I purchase is automatically backed up in iTunes and if my phone ever does crash and needs a restore I'll do it then, hopefully these things will be fixed at that stage.
Apart from the annoying Other Memory issue, and the battery problem with iOS5, the iPhone has been my most reliable and enjoyable phone to date and I've decided to just enjoy it as it is. I'll replace the phone in about a year when my plan finishes and, by then, most of these bugs should have been sorted out. If not, Samsung looks pretty good

  • How can i detect "Memory leak" with large LabVIEW projects.

    Hi,
I have a huge LabVIEW application that runs out of memory after running continuously for some time. I am not able to find out the VI that is hogging up memory. Is there any tool that dynamically detects the VI that is leaking memory.
Or, is there a tool or a way to identify the critical areas which can be potential culprits that is leaking memory.

But this will just give me the amount of memory used by the VIs and not the amount of memory that is not getting released.
And where is the problem about that? Just try to find what VIs keep increasing in memory size. That are the culprits. If you have real memory leaks, meaning there is memory that is not managed by LabVIEW directly but for instance by a DLL somewhere and that DLL looses references to memory, so it goes really lost, then the only way to find that is by successively exclude functionality in your application until you can find the culprit.
There is no other simple way to find out about who is loosing memory references than by doing debugging by exclusion until the problem disappears. The only way to speed this up, which quite often works for me is doing an educated guess, about what components are most likely to do this misbehaviour.
Not knowing anything about your application and if you are talking about memory hogs (fairly easily identifiable by the mentioned Performance and Memory monitor) or actual memory leaks, it is hard to tell how to go about it. Memory hogs are usually the first thing I suspect escpecially with software I inherit somehow from people from whom I'm not sure they know all the ins and outs of LabVIEW programming.
If a leak seems likely the first culprit usually are custom DLLs (yes even DLLs I have written myself), then NI DLLs such as DAQmx, etc. and last there come leaks in LabVIEW itself. This last category is very seldom but it has happened to me. However before going to scream about LabVIEW having a memory leak you really, really should make sure you have very intensivly researched all the other possibilities. The chance that you run into a memory leak in LabVIEW, while not impossible, is so small compared to the other ways of causing either a memory hog or running into a leak in an external component to LabVIEW, that in 99.9% of the cases where someone screams about a LabVIEW memory leak, he is simply wrong.

  • 903 Security and JMS help

    Hello,
We have a requirement to get a JMS/MDB solution working on our servers. Basically, we have one server running a JMS topic that several other servers with MDBs listen on. This much we were able to get working with help of some OTN people. Thanks!
Two problems still remain. One, We won't go to 904 until 904 is in production. Plus, the upgrade testing and such may delay the upgrade to 904 past its release date. We only need a memory based non persistent solution, thus using AQ would be overkill. So we are simply using the 903 memory based JMS implementation.
Secondly, and more importantly, the only way we seem to be able to get a Topic Connection factory is by using the admin/password id that you establish when you first install OC4J.
Any pointers on how I can change this so I am not deploying the server's admin id and password? I am not very well versed in the security aspects of this server. Alot of people seem to be. What resources should I look at?
    Thank you for your help
    Matt

    thank you for the information.
So does that mean there is no way to set the extended form rights and the signature rights?  Or is there something I can do to change the rights on the pdf?
    thanks again

  • MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum has some SERIOUS vdimm issues

I did this post to other forum as well and I can be sure I'm not the only one with this problem and this has effect only if you are overclocking your system. I really hope some of the guys from MSI reads this post and if does not we need to notice them about this problem.
The link to other forum can be founded here
    Problem #1
When you select (from BIOS) Cell Menu -> DRAM Configuration -> RAS to CAS (Trcd) and change the value to "2" it seems like it forces voltage to 2,7V, no matter what you select your Memory Voltage from BIOS (use multimeter if you don't believe).
Problem #2 (long story but keep reading, it's worth of it)
I was just tweaking my system up and I tried desperately achieve higher clock speed to my CPU, tried kinda everything out I could, more Vcore, more Vagp/Vchip, more vdimm, looser memory timings, dividers, all this without result.
After a while, I got my CPU running rock stable at 2520MHz with 1,55V (3500+ NewCastle, 252x10), Memory voltage(VDIMM) 2,65V and I was using 5:4 divider so my ram was running with 3-3-3-5 timings at 210MHz(Max Memclock: 166 used), VAGP/Vchip 1,50V. This far, all prime stable, superpi stable, 3d stable, etc, no problems at all.
So, I decided to go 2530MHz and higher. I fired my HTT (FSB) to 253MHz and it booted up. Went fine, and after Windows started I first ran SuperPi8M, 3DMark05 and PCMark04, it all went thru fine. Then Prime95, gave me error after 16mins. I just thought that maybe it didn't get enough juice, so I gave some more. I gave like 1,6V to cpu and I thought it should be stable now, but just a 8 minutes after I started Prime, I faced this same error again. Back to BIOS and I lowered my HT Frequency to 3x and I tried again, and now it took 11 minutes and Prime failed. Only problem I could imagine now was my memory, so I used loose 3-4-4-8 timings and guess what, Prime gave me error after 2minutes. I was totally pissed off and I thought CPU can't go any further.
    This was rock stable:
    CPU: 2520MHz (252x10 / 1,55V)
    RAM: 210MHz (3-3-3-5 / 2,65V)
    VAGP: 1,5V
    And this was not stable:
    CPU: 2530MHz (253x10 / 1,6V)
    RAM: 210,83 (3-3-3-5 / 2,65V)
    VAGP: 1,5V
And now comes the funny part. After like 20th visit to BIOS I increased my VDIMM to 2,7V and this wasn't stable neither, it was like 10 minutes and Prime failed. Okey, so AGAIN, back to BIOS and I ACCIDENTALY decreased my VDIMM to 2,6V and... it was stable, I ran prime like 6 hours and 59 mins and it was all ok. After that I was like ":censored: I did?" I just decreased my VDIMM and now I'm able to do higher overclock. My system is now running 2550MHz (255x10) with 1,6V
So my stable system now looks like this:
    CPU: 2550MHz (255x10 / 1,6V)
    RAM: 212,5MHz (3-3-3-5 / 2,6V)
    VAGP: 1,5V
Can none of you guys give me some info what the h--- is this?!

Well, I understand you feel way like that, but I've tried everything else and only thing I can come up to is motherboard. Like the CPU example you gave me, I can ignore it easily right here; The only thing this memory integrated controller does is data transfering, and as far as I know the motherboard handles the power circulation for memory, not the CPU.

I assume you referred with this to an Trcd issue. And I have nothing to say to that, you can test it out if you want and be sure to get multimeter so you can be 150% sure about it. I've also tried 1.36, 1,37, 1.4 official, 1.41, 1.51 and 1.5X bioses and they all give me same problem. Trcd 2 forces your voltage to 2,7V, no matter what choose from BIOS.

No, I don't have OCZ brand memory. I have Infineon by myself, so this far this has nothing to do with OCZ.
Example; I know alot of people who are using Kingston with this board and it's running all fine, I also know people who are running same set of Kingston as these peoples whos PC works great but still they are facing random memory problems. Same thing goes for OCZ too.

I always do my research well and I'm not blaming anything 'til I'm sure of what is causing my problem. But in this case, I'm that 150% sure it is motherboard. (And by the way, my mobo does 340 FSB Prime & 3D Stable so that's not an issue)

This was kind of stupid question (sorry :D), you can't run 1:1 divider with memory stick which has example PC2700 SPD information (you can do that with A64 Tweaker but no use if you're planning to do memtest). According to Asus report this is caused by A64's integrated memory controller.
So let say this one more time, the voltage of your memory has nothing to do with A64's integrated memory controller, your motherboard handles this. That's why I know this is motherboard related issue, not CPU, memory, PSU, or anyone else I didn't mentioned.
I guess you got some of the answer you wanted to hear, but if you got any xtra questions, feel free to ask. Maybe the best way is to contact me via Messenger.
I got to tell you that the A64s have a lot more to do with the memory than the boards do. The cpu really has to be matched to the memory and not all 3500+ cpus will run a certain type memory the same. I have tried several diffrent boards and several diffrent types of memory and it seems to me the cpu has more to do with not only the memory timings they can handle but the speed as well. Also cpu temps can make a diffrence here as well. Remeber the controllers are in the cpu. I would also say that the older 3500+  did not have as good of controllers.

  • EJB: Stateless Session Bean create() Question.

Lets say I have a stateless session bean that fetches data from my database. The point of the bean is to just do large SQL searches and funnel data back to the client. The prolem I have is that I am somehow fighting memory leaks. Despite having checked the code a number of times, the memory usage on my appserver continues to climb no matter what I do. I have theorized that the problem might be in the way Im using ma DataFetchBean (DFB).
When I start the client, he obtains a user session. This is a stateful session bean that he uses for almost all communication with the server. Then I call "getDataFetchBean" in the user session which calls DataFetchBeanHome.create(). Then the client holds onto the returned reference, using it for the live of his connection. As he disconnects, he calls remove on the bean.
    Question is this:
    1) Is it better for me to call create() prior to each call to the stateless session bean ?
    2) Do you have any theories on why im loosing memory with this setup?
    TIA
    -- Rob

    1. But I thought you were using a 'stateful session bean'?
    2. For stateless session beans, there is no direct link between a remote reference and an instance of the bean. It is safe to hang on to the remote reference as long as you would like, of course it may go stale if the server dies. You will also find that the create() method does not actually contact the server, so doing it each usage costs very little. So, either way you should be fine.
    3. As for memory leaks, make sure that you are closing all statements, result sets, etc. promptly. These are commonly the problem. Also, use hprof or some other profile tool to determine what types of data you are allocating and (with better tools) what types of data you may be holding on to references to.

PHP with the OCI8 extension using "DRCP" connection pooling will handle many, many users. We bench-marked 20,000 concurrent users on a commodity machine: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/php/whatsnew/php-scalability-ha-twp-128842.pdf
Instead of WAMP you might want something like Zend Server, which has comes in unsupported (aka free) & supported flavors (disclaimer: Zend is a partner of Oracle): http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/php/zend-server-096314.html
You can install PHP on iAS: e.g https://blogs.oracle.com/opal/entry/building_php_53_with_oracle_ht
If you need extreme scalability you could use Oracle Tuxedo, which has support for PHP (and Python & Ruby): http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/tuxedo/tuxedo-dynamic-langs-twp-401471.pdf
There are too many factors to declare outright that one language is faster than another. It would depend on factors like whether you use an application framework, how efficiently you tune caches etc.
Overall, your choice should be based on the in-house skill set you have.
Whatever you choose, I'd recommend putting most business logic (especially numeric and date calculations) in PL/SQL procedures. This will give you flexibility to call that logic from any language or service in the future. You can also then keep any web or mobile UI lightweight and fast.

  • E72 - Calendar not syncing via USB data cable (Out...

    PROBLEM:
Syncing the E72-2 Calendar to Outlook over USB Data cable returned synchronization errors.
    HISTORY:
Previously was using MfE and Google Calendar as a go-between from Outlook 2003 to my E72. It worked OK for a couple of weeks, but then turned to **** (appointments disappearing from phone, duplicates that couldn't be deleted, sending tons of 'decline' messages to work colleagues from my personal Gmail account...etc. etc.)  It is abundantly clear that MfE and Google Calendar were not meant to play together at this point in time.
Next strategy was to use PC Suite to sync with the Outlook calendar directly via cable.  This was not successful either.  The default Sync profile on the phone only offers Data Bearer of Bluetooth or GPRS, no cable.  Sure enough, PC Suite would fail immediately with 0 events synced, saying to check the Idle status of the phone.
    SOLUTION that worked for me:
    Overview:
    - Delete all calendar entries on the phone, even those that are 'stuck'. (Note: you DON'T need to wipe your phone for this - that is Nokia's lazy solution but there are easier ways.)
    - Run PC Suite Cleaner from Nokia
    - Reinstall PC Suite
    - Run PC Suite, connect the phone via USB only when prompted
    - Configure the Sync profile on the phone
    - Configure the Sync application on the PC
    - Sync!
    Details:
0a. Clean off all calendar entries from the phone. To get rid of stubborn ones, you can try to sync the phone via bluetooth or internet to an empty Google or other calendar to remove all entries. (I did this by syncing to an empty iCal calendar on my Mac)  Alternatively, you can also connect the phone to PC Suite, then open the phone calendar in PC Suite and delete all appointments using the trash can button.  (Recurring series will only need to be deleted once.)
0b. Exit PC Suite.  Ensure it is not still running in the Taskbar.
    1. Run the Nokia PC Suite Cleaner, downloadable from Nokia's support site. Restart when prompted.
    2. Re-install PC Suite version 7.1.40.6
    3. Run PC Suite before connecting the phone.
3a. Select Cable connection, then connect the phone when prompted.
3b. PC Suite should install the necessary drivers and software (if this is working, you will see several USB device popups in your taskbar.)
    4. On the phone, go to Ctrl Panel --> Phone --> Sync.
4a. If you have been messing around with MfE or other sync methods, delete those extraneous sync profiles from the phone. Go to "Change Active Profile" - if you see anything besides 'PC Suite', select it and then choose 'Delete' from the Options menu.
4b. After any extra Sync profiles are gone, the phone will default back to 'PC Suite.' Ensure the PIM data you wish to sync (Calendar, etc.) is selected with a red X.
4c. It does not seem to matter what you select for Data Bearer - I am using Bluetooth and that's working even though the target PC does not have it.
4d. 'Allow sync requests' should be set to 'Automatically accept'
4e. For 'Synchronization type' select the value that works for you. ('To phone only')
    5. Run the Sync application in PC Suite.
5b. Ensure the phone has not automatically locked itself.
5c. Click the 'Sync' button in the PC Sync app.
5d. You should see Connecting....Waiting....Reading.....etc.  while the content is syncing.
5e. If it stops after Waiting and returns a communication error, you may need to try the above steps again, and/or do a clean install on your phone. :-(
Hope this helps someone out there.   Note that this is mostly from memory, so if I inadvertently skipped any steps or if anything needs further clarification, please respond to this thread to help future readers.

Herve55 I can confirm that the DC-6 (remember to buy the the one with USB-micro connection) works.
However the only reason for me wanting to use the supplied USB to USB-micro cable in the car (with 3rd party cigarette adapter) was to first, get rid of that annoying spiral cord and second to have the data cable with me at all times.
Sad to say that I´eve by now definitely tried all possible solutions for the data cable "CA-101" without any luck.
My N97 witch I was very satisfied with at start started to burn battery, reboot, loose memory, become sluggish and then after 8 months of aggravation i sent it on a flyer in the wall.
I have now after 15 years changed brand.
Conclusively the guys at Nokia seems to carry to many models for any possibility of making further great phones! in other words they´v gone sloppy.

  • Stability: Mac vs. Windows

I'd always heard that Macs were more stable than Windows but I have now used my MBP for 16 months and I would have to say that it has crashed more times than my old Dell PC did in 5 years. I am a semi demanding user and run 4-5 programs at a time but nothing super demanding like video editing. My Mac (now running Leopard) crashes at least a few time every week. Is there something wrong with my Mac or is this par for the course? Are there some sort of utilities that I should run every day/week/month to make it more stable? Should I not be updating my programs with Software Update? I love the user interface but I really wish that my Mac was as rock solid reliable as I was led to believe it would be.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the grey screen."
When the screen fades and a message pops up in several languages that tells you to restart the computer, that is a kernel panic
Kernel panics are usually caused by hardware problems--external peripherals, the extensions used to control them, loose memory chips, etc.
When you get a kernel panic, once you restart, you will get the option to report it to Apple. You can also review the report.
There is also a grey screen that you see on bootup where the system freezes and doesn't boot up.
What is a system hang? Do you mean the Finder? Can you use other apps, or nothing at all?
What are you doing when iTunes and Safari hang?
In Console, your can show the Log list, and then disclose the ~/Library/Logs and /Library/Logs. Each will have a CrashReporter category where you can see crashlogs for each app that has crashed.
Each log file will tell you what thread crashed and what it was trying to do at the time. Many times this is not decipherable to normal humans. However, if it is a recurring cause, we might be able to track it down. I've googled the exception listed and found answers on other boards.
BTW: ~/ means your user directory and / is the main hd directory (root). So there is a Library for each account, one for everybody, and there is a third inside /System/ that is pretty much Apple's exclusive Library.

  • Crashing mac

almost 2yr old macbook stopped working (wouldn't turn on). Sent it to Mac to have the logic board replaced they also replaced the power source. When I got it back the fan stayed at the low 1800 rpm setting, meanwhile the mac was shutting down 'cause it was getting to hot (istat said 140's range).
The only programs running were firefox, stickies and calender. No problems with it since I bought it (i did add extra ram as soon as i got home).
And while i was typing, mac went to sleep and now won't turn on.
I'm asking mostly so I know how to explain this to apple phone peeps, i don't think i explained it that well 4 days ago, its been 1 week since this started.
I think I'm building karma or character or something...

got it back Wednesday. cause of crashes and finally no start up at all.....
    loose memory sticks!
Apple tech asked if i had moved or dropped the iMac recently. no to both.
is it near a radiator? no, but it is next to an out side wall + window.
he said temperature change inside the iMac warps the memory stick clips and they slowly work open and gravity takes over. he said to check them every 6-8 months.
