Loosing the Internet.

Hi, I had a wired network and my Router(Model WRT54G2  with firmware v. 1.0.03) worked fine for a long time until I recently bought and setup Wireless HP Office Jet Printer. After that my Network starts experience problem losing the Internet connection. LAN continues to work fine, but Internet starts suddenly interrupt. After Of/On Power on Router it starts works fine again for several hours. I suspect that may be something wrong with my Wireless setting. Can somebody please help me with my problem?
Thank you in advance,
Sasha

Open the router setup page and change the MTU size to 1492 and click on save settings..Under the Wireless tab,Click on Advanced Wireless Settings...Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...Power Cycle the router and check.

Dear All, My wireless users are loosing the internet(http and https) connection many times per day. I just check the ports configuration in the switch, but The problem persist. The device is a Cisco Aironet 1130 AG.
You are barking the wrong tree.
    Can you please elaborate further?
I need to determine whether the clients are loosing WIRELESS connection or loosing WAN connection.  Two different things, two different directions to choose from.
The easiest way to determine is this:
Presume you have 10 clients and half the clients are associated to one WAP and the other to the other WAP.  Your description states that all 10 clients would loose internet connectivity.  Is this correct?  If this is so, then we start with your switch and your WAPs.  How are the WAPs powered?  PoE or power injector?  Can you console into the WAPs?  Can you post the output to the commands "sh version" and "sh logs"?  How about the switch?  Can you console into the switch?  Can you post the output to the commands "sh version" and "sh logs"?

  • My iPad keeps loosing the internet connection. All of my other devices work. Last time this happened, comcast charged $49 to fix it. They said that it's somethin that I downloaded. How can I get back my internet connection on my iPad ?

My iPad keeps loosing the internet connection. Last time this happened comcast charged $49 to fix it. They said that the problem was perhaps caused by something that I down loaded. All my other devices still connected to internet. Tried to reset my settings. Still won't work. Any advice ?

First, changing your DNS settings could not possibly have any effect on this problem.
When you see an exclamation point in the Wi-Fi menu, from the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.

  • Some kind of alarm when the internet goes down

Good day. I am using WiFi to connect to the internet. Someone else owns the modem and
gave me permission to use it. Sometimes, the modem is working, but looses the internet connection.
I want to know, does anyone know of an add-on or windows gadget or program that would let me
know when the net is out.

on windows 7 you could try the following (please note that my OS is not in english, so i may not get the exact right labels in my description): go to the windows task planner & create a new task. give it a name of your choosing and switch to the trigger tab where you create a new trigger (''launch task at an event''; protocol: ''system'', source: ''dns client events'', event-id: ''1014''). <br>then go to the actions tab, where you can set-up a custom message, which will pop up in a dialog once the trigger is called (or set any other action; for example you could make firefox open another custom tab through [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Command_Line_Options command line arguments], etc.)...

  • I can't put my windows xp to standby without loosing the connection...

So I can't put the windows xp machine in standby mode without loosing the internet connection. According to my LAC icon I still have a connection and if I "repair" it, it says it can but still no joy. It will work just fine after I restart the comp but that kind of destroys the whole idea of standby mode (having a saved session and all). This never happened before I installed the airport.

So, I think I've solved all my issues with the airport and my xp machine.
I did some other research and found that there might have been a issue with my zone alarm firewall and the airport. I turned it off and everything has been working good all day. I turned it on and I was back to my comp not recognizing the airport and no connectivity when I went to sleep mode and came back.
If you're running zone alarm and are having these kinds of issues.
Try and turn off ZA, if that solves the issue, turn ZA back on and go to:
Zone Alarm > Firewall (on the left side) > Zones tab (top right)> ADD (bottom right) > Host Site (top of popup menu).
When the dialog comes up, make sure the "zone" is "trusted, type in the name of your aiport (ie; house, my airport, what ever you named it when you set it up, if unsure, start the aiport from the start menu and see what it says), under "description I just put "airport router".
Then the "lookup" button comes into focus and you press it. It will find the ip address press "ok" and that is it!
BTW- My XP firewall is off.
So far so good for me. Maybe this weekend I'll see if I can get the external HD to work....(crosses fingers and knocks on wood).

  • Why does my iPhone 4 keep loosing it's ability to download emails or connect to the Internet?  I can power it off at when I restart I can send and receive but after awhile all I get is it trying to connect.

Why does my iPhone 4 keep loosing it's connection to download emails or go onto safari?  If I power down the phone and restart it then it will connect but shortly after it will loose the connection and then just shows connecting in email or in safari unable to connect to the Internet

I'm guessing it's more likely a problem with your carrier's 3G network in the area. You shouldn't have to modify any settings for 3G to work consistently on a supported carrier.
You can try turning off 3G data, with will switch over to Edge if it exists. If it does, it will be much slower than 3G, but I suppose faster than 0 is better than 0.
I'd contact your carrier about it.

  • Keep loosing connectivity to the Internet

Since upgrading my iMac from Mavericks to Yosemite, Safari and Chrome loose the ability to connect to the internet. The network connection is fine as I can connect to my NAS drive. I have to reset the Mac to restore connectivity. It appears to be intermittent but happens about once a day at the moment. One option could be to system restore back to Mavericks and put in a clean install of Yosemite but I want to avoid this if possible.

    Power Cycle
Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
    Restart the computer.
    Start up in Safe Mode.

  • TC Looses connection to the Internet for wireless device & new Apple TV

I have a new TC (1 TB) that I got within the last month or two, I use it as my Internet router behind my DSL modem. TC gets a DHCP address from my DSL modem then does NAT to both Ethernet and Wifi devices behind it. After a short period of time I have noticed that my Wifi devices (New Apple TV, Macbook Pro, & 2 Iphones) will loose connectivity to the Internet, although they never loose their Wifi connection. What is strange is that I have several hard wired Ethernet devices that can still access the Internet going through the TC at the same time the wireless devices can not.
In order to get the wifi devices back working I have done a few things, disconnected and reconnected the Ethernet cable between the TC and my DSL modem, power cycled the TC, power cycled my DSL modem. It seems like the most reliable method is power cycling the TC.
This seems to happen pretty frequently however with no pattern or cause I can detect. The only interesting thing is that I just installed my New Apple TV and prior to that I do not recall having to recycle the TC. I am inclined to think the TCP video streaming might be overloading the TC and causing the wireless process to crap out while the ethernet ports are fine.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Will do some more troubleshooting and will contact Apple support at some point. I will also update this thread when I find out more.

I have a similiar problem - but I don't have Apple TV - and when the TC looses internet connection it is for wired and wireless devices. WLAN and LAN still working.
At the same time i cannot access the configuration of the TC thru Airport - are you able to do this?
I also have the feeling that high data loads provokes the error more often.

  • Why does everyone at my work loose their internet connection when I update Adobe Cloud Products?

Why does everyone at my work loose their internet connection when I update Adobe Cloud Products? We are on a 20mb broadband connection and there is around 20 people using computers at my work but when I start my Adobe Cloud Product update or when I try and download my Adobe Cloud Product everyone at my work looses their internet connection and so do I. But the update keeps downloading and installing.

I am sorry FooWingLi but the difficulties you are describing sounds more like a local network configuration issue.  I would recommend working with your I.T. department to investigate this matter.

  • Ensuring the iPhone isn't connected to the internet

    Hello,
I have recently bought an iPhone.
I have managed to connect it to my home Wi-Fi network and it accesses the internet without any problems.
This is fine for home use, but I don't want to access the internet while out-and-about. I notice the user guide mentions that the iPhone will try Wi-Fi first, search for other Wi-Fi's second, and then try my Phone carrier last.
    My questions are as follows:
    1) Will the iPhone confirm that I want a connection with the internet via my phone carrier Before it actually connects?
    2) When I do connect via the phone carrier, how can I ensure that the connection has been properly disconnected when I have finished? The phone always displays 3G whether it is actually using the internet or not or just connected to the phone carrier.
    3) Is there a way to disable the iPhone connecting to the internet via the phone carrier without disabling normal phone functions or the Wi-Fi home network option?
I have a simple data package, and don't plan to connect that often unless I'm using a wireless network. As my data package is only small I want to limit accidental use, hence why I want to ba e=able to ensure I know when I am and am not connected ot the internet.
For thos of you in Australia, I'm using Telstra and the 3G network.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Leon.

    Hi Allan,
Thanks. Your answer above seems to already put my fears at ease.
No problem with having internet connection always available so that I can have it when I need it. I don't want to turn that off. Just wanted to make sure that as long as I don't use any applications that require internet connection, I don't get connected to the cellular network internet/data transfer and thus unknowingly eat up my free data hours. And, when I do use apps that do require internet connection, the connection/data transfer will automatically cease once I simply exit the apps.
Sometimes with such high tech products, I still have the need for something basic and outright such as -- 'disconnect from internet?' to ensure that I am really disconnected and not loosing my free hours... and worse of all, getting charged for use over the free hours!

  • Cannot connect to the internet with laptop

Background: Started out with iMac connected to Apple Airport Extreme base station via wireless that is connected to broadband/cable linksys modem befcmu10. Then setup Apple Macbook 13" to access internet through Apple Airport Extreme base station via wireless. Worked fine, spectacular. Then setup HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-One printer to be accessed through Apple Airport Extreme base station. Again, worked flawlessly. Then setup and "installed" an offline internet Skype phone [Philips VOIP8411B/37] so I could use it's services and not need a computer to be on. It's connected to the Apple Airport Extreme via Ethernet. To get it up and running, I had to reboot my modem and router. Right after I got it up and running I noticed that the Skype phone was working and the iMac was working but the laptop was now not able to connect to the internet.
Present: Finally able to get back to finding a solution, I was trying to look at settings in the network system preferences and researching things to try. Also going to the Airport Utility program trying different things like having it distribute IP address and having it find DNS servers automatically, etc etc etc. Nothing was working to get the Macbook back online. So I rebooted the modem and router again [because i have been experiencing problems with cable company] just for the heck of it. Wa-la, the iMac and laptop were now both using the internet. But before I realized what was happening, the Skype phone was not able to establish a connection. So before I stopped for the night, I shut everything down and rebooted the cable modem and router.
Next morning I awoke and the Skype was working but the iMac and Macbook weren't able to connect. After trying to fiddle with System Preferences and Airport Utility I resorted to reboot the modem and router. iMac worked, Macbook didn't, Skype worked. After a full day of researching, reading and fiddling with preferences on the macs end, I decided to try the reboot of modem and router. Got iMac online, Macbook online, Skype not.
Discovered problem: Apparently only two of the three devices can connect to the "internet" through the Aiport Extreme base station at a time. So right now, I have to sacrifice one device not to connect to the internet. It's the Macbook for now. From what i can see, the use of the printer is not affected [but it's only setup on the iMac].
I've gone into the network diagnostics on the Macbook and under Network Status on the left, Airport, Airport Settings, Network Settings, and ISP are all green, while Internet and Server are yellow for a second while it searches but turn red and stay red. Contacted cable company and everything is good on their end and they couldn't help further. Something is wrong on my end. Now on to apple care or forum help.
Does anyone have a solution or suggestion of what to do or where to look? Do I have to change something in the Apple Airport Extreme base station? Network setting? Any help would be much appreciated, it's frustrating and time consuming and I'd like to get it all up and running.
    Thank you for your time.

I don't have an answer, but I experienced the same problems trying to set up an airport express to route traffic to my stereo.
Apple Extreme router, iMac and laptop all worked just fine for months, upon installing Airport Express (step by step, according to instructions), all **** broke loose. Airport Utility was unable to see my Airport Extreme router, after hours of rebooting computer, cable modem, router, and finally a hard reset of the Airport Extreme router, it is finally recognized by Airport Utility again.
Recreated network, iMac connects to the internet just fine, laptop (Macbook Air) connects to the network just fine, but will not connect to the internet. Network diagnostics does not help, it gets to the "do you have a router? If so, reboot" stage, and never seems to see the router.
    Any suggestions?

  • Can no longer connect to the internet...

I got my Macbook about 2 years ago and since then, I have been able to connect to the wireless network in my house and various other locations just fine. Yesterday, I took my laptop to school, connected to the wifi there, browsed the web a bit and then went home. When I got home, I opened safari and it told me that it could not load the webpage because my computer "is not connected to the internet". I have tried to restore my connection, but all my attempts have failed. I "forgot" the network and reconnected, used network diagnostics (which basically told me the same thing as safari), and the only way I have been able to connect is through an ethernet cable attached directly to the wifi box. We have several other devices in the house (PC, Mac, Ipad, 2 iphones) which have all been able to connect just fine. Any ideas on what I should do?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Assuming other machines can connect to the internet wirelessly in the house, and it can't connect wirelessly in the house and outside, that says something is either wrong with the airport driver, preferences, or the card got loose. The machine is too young to have a dying CMOS battery. So to test the former, clone your hard drive twice, and erase and install the operating system that came with the MacBook. Setup the wireless network with a non-altered operating system and see if it will connect. If it does not, then your airport card somehow got loose and needs to be reseated, or replaced. This is not a user installable part. So if it is under warranty, bring it in. Otherwise look at http://www.ifixit.com/ if you want to fix it yourself, or look at these repair shops which may be cheaper than Apple:

If an erase and install works, then carefully bring over data which will not affect your airport connection from your backup. Use this tip:

  • Apple TV wont play content unless connected to the Internet

I have added a few movies of my own, when I loose my Internet connection then, none of my content Purchased from Itunes or imported myself will not play on my ATV?
The reason to own this is so when your Internet is down, you can still be entertained.  Apple really needs to open this up, so that once Home Sharing is turned on, it allows you to share with any device on your network, even when you have no Internet Connection.  It should not render my media none usable when I have fully paid for and should be able to use at any point.

I do not mean to trivialize your problem of not being able to stream "home movies" to your Apple TV without having an internet connection. I know this is frustrating for you, as it would be for me as well. However I would have to concur with vazandrew in that, an internet connection is not needed to stream "home movies" to your Apple TV.
I ran a very simple test. I unplugged the Ethernet cable connecting my modem to my AirPort Extreme. As soon as I disconnected the cable my AirPort Extreme status light started flashing "orange". I then accessed the "computers" app on my Apple TV (which by the way is connected via wifi to the AirPort Extreme). It then loaded "my library" and I loaded a video from the "home videos" category in "my library". It played without a problem. Granted it did take a good minute or more before it actually started to play compared to it being instantaneous when I actually have an internet connection.
I then tried another experiment while still offline. I loaded an actual movie I purchased from iTunes, which is  also in the "computers" app, then under "my library" and then "movies". This also played without a problem, but again it did take a good minute or two for the movie to load and start playing. Coincidently, I went to the iTunes "movies" app (again, I am still off line) and I could not connect to iTunes and got an error message to try again.
Since my "home videos" as well as my "purchased iTunes" content are all stored on my mac hard drive, I would have to agree that content can be streamed to the Apple TV while "offline". I would assume, that if I continued to watch multiple "purchased" content while offline I would eventually be prompted to "re-connect" my internet to authenticate my "purchases".
On a side note, at one point I actually stored all my purchased music and movies on a NAS drive connected to my AirPort Extreme and I ran into the same problem you are currently having where I couldn't stream anything unless I had an internet connection. About a year ago I moved all my purchased content from the NAS drive to an external USB hard drive and I haven't had any streaming problems, even while offline.
I don't know if this will help you resolve your problem. But, if this can be of any use I would at least hope it gives you the determination to continue to look for a solution because for all intents and purposes it should work for you.

  • Why won't the internet work on my iPod?

On my iPod touch 4G, the internet has stopped working. Not just safari, but everything that requires an internet connection. I get the standard little message 'Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet.' Sure, I can open them but they won't work without the internet. It happened a few days ago and I'm completely stumped. I've rebooted, updated, rejoined my internet, reset my internet, reset my network settings, everything I can think of and whatever someone has told me. I've deleted recent apps, just in case they were intefering with the connection, but that doesn't do anything. This has happened once before, where a simple rooter reboot solved it and there was no more of it. However, nothing seems to be working this time. Any advice? My operating system is actually 4. 3. 5, but there's no option for this. I don't have a router or DNS code, but then again I'm not sure I ever did. There's also no URL in the HTTP proxy box. Is this a problem?

    Is it this:

    Also heating sometimes works. See:

Publish you site to a folder on your hard drive and open it locally with your browser.  Check to see if the site is all there.  If not
    Try the following:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
