Losing email address

I have just started a new broadband line and have to cancel my old one. Both are with BT and I want to transfer my email address and I have been given a new one. Can I just keep my old address and how do I do it.

Hi AH,
Welcome to the forums! If you can fill out the contact webform in my profile and let us know the email addresses in question along with details on which one you wish to keep etc., we should be able to sort this out for you.

Hi All,
I have my kids using iTunes via thier ipods etc through my own account and this hase been the case for some time?
This has started to cause issues lately with imessaging and facetime, as there seems to be a limit on email addresses that can be associated with one account?
I wonder if I would be best off setting the kids up with their own accounts, but want to be able to do this without them losing their existing apps, music etc?
Is this possible, if so is there a simple process cos I can seem to find anything relating to this?
many thanks, JimNot going to happen the way you want it to.
When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with. -
I changed my email address, how can I keep my icloud data without cancelling my former account...?
Hey there Fonz111,
It sounds like you have a new email address you would like to use to replace the email address you are currently using for your Apple ID, without losing any of the info you have in the account. You can update the email address with this article named:
Apple ID: Changing your Apple ID
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5621
To change your Apple ID, follow these steps:
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com), click "Manage your Apple ID", and sign in.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID. If you are unable to receive messages at your trusted device, follow the guidelines for what to do if you can't sign in with two-step verification.
In the "Apple ID and Primary Email Address section," click Edit.
Enter the email address you want to use, then click Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that address.
Open the email from Apple, then click Verify Now in the email.
When the My Apple ID page opens, sign in with your renamed Apple ID.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID.
After you see a message indicating that verification is complete, remember to update all of the stores and services that you use with your Apple ID.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,

my old email address was hacked and I am no longer able to access it. How can i reset my icloud ID without losing all of my pictures and more importantly contacts? I have created a new ID but i cannot seem to use it until I delete the old account
You need to use the old ID and password to delete the iCloud account. After you delete the old account, you can sign in with the new ID in iCloud.
Have you seen this.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5796
iCloud
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device. -
Question: I have changed my Pple ID. However The PPS Store insists that the cancelled ID is me, and trying to change either the name or password is an endless circle. The email account name I previously used was, I believe, hacked so I terminated the email account. So, apple no longer shows it.
Please help me. I want to get back into the App Store without losing all the apps I've purchased.Welcome to the Apple Community.
Did you create a new a new account or just change the email address on your existing account. -
How can I change my iCloud email address without losing all my data and what not???? Please help...
Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't change it but you can create an alias to use. -
My iTunes account is under my @yahoo email address and I became accustomed to my @Me email and now like the idea of the @iCloud email address that was made. My questions are....can I change my iTunes account to my @iCloud name without instead of my @yahoo name without losing my years snd years of purchases ? Can I also create an @Mac address ? ....or is my @yahoo and my @iCloud already recognized as the same by apple and my purchases would already be fine as well as restoring my devices ?
Your purchases are permanently tied to the Apple ID (account) used to purchase them. They can't be moved to another account and you can merge accounts. You can start making new purchases with your iCloud ID if you want, but you will end up with two sets of purchases under two different IDs, adding further complication to your life.
Also, your @icloud email address is an alias of your existing @me address; emails sent to either address will be routed to the same inbox. You can decide which one you want to use as your default (as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5441) but you can't separate them. -
How can I change the email address associated with iCloud without losing information?
How can I can change the email address associated with my iCloud account without losing data on my iPad?
If you're running iOS 6, to change your iCloud ID go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account. To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll. -

If you are locked out of your Itunes account and you no longer use the same email address, can you create a new account without losing your music library
Just to let you know that I DIDNT swear in the last post. It was bleeped for using non offensive language. Just letting you know. (And @moderator this subnote isnt "off topic", its just letting colleagues know I'm not in the habit of swearing - something that the search and replace word-bot actaully makes it look worse than it is!!)
Many thanks - please dont delet this footnote (again)

I changed my Apple ID (new email address, same account), via the Apple website on my laptop, but when I try log into ITunes on my iPad, it still has the old ID. It is greyed out, so I can't change it. On researching further, it seems I have to sign out of iTunes and sign back in using new address. Ok so far, but when I do this, it asks if I want to delete the account and any data on the cloud. If I do this, and sign in with changed ID, will all the data be there Or will it be lost? Thanks for any advice.
Sounds like apps purchased from those accounts got synced to the iPod and it is asking to log into that account to update them.
- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
What do yo see if yo go to the Updates Section of the App Store app? -
Taking one off a laptop without losing the email addresses off another laptop/iMac
I'm giving my old laptop to my daughter, and I would like to take myself off as the administrator, along with the email addresses (without deleting them off my other computers). I've deleted the apps, photos, and music she won't need. Yes I know I could have re-formatted the hard drive, but I didn't want to do that (not sure how I would do that). So how do I eliminate myself as the administrator, and the email addresses?
Create another user account for your daughter by going to System Preferences (under the Apple menu) and selecting Users & Groups then click the lock in the lower left corner and authenticate. Next click the "+" button just above the lock and create a user for her, making sure that you check the box for Allow user to administer this computer.
Once you have created the new user account, log out of your user account and into the new one. Again go to System Preferences > Users & Groups, click the lock and authenticate. Select your old user and click the "-" button to delete it. When asked if you are sure you want to delete the user, select the Delete the home folder option, including the Erase home folder securely checkbox. Click the Delete User button. It may take a while to do this deletion, as the secure erasure requires a lot of writing to the hard drive, but it means your data is not recoverable by anyone.
I am assuming that you are using Mac OS X 10.8 for this. Older systems may be slightly different.
Note that any data on other computers will not be affected.
Best of luck. -
I have changed my email address. How do I get iCloud to accept the new address? If I delete the old account to initiate a new one, do I lose information?
If you get a new email address, you can change your Apple ID from your old address to your new address. Just follow this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40
Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs cannot be renamed. -
I have in the past created an Apple ID for use with the UK itunes store, because I want to read in English. If I sign in it seems that this ID will only allow me to purchase from the UK store. But I live in Belgium, so I can't download from the UK store. So I tried to create an apple ID for the Belgian itunes store. But I want to use the same email address as I used for the first apple ID I made (because I'm fed up of having to remember which email address I used for which account). When I tried this, I just get a message saying that the email address is already in use for another account (which I know, because it's me who made that account). Does anyone have a workaround for this?
cheers
AndrewI have tried again using the same password. and it still doesn't work.
I'm presuming you went ahead and set up a new Apple ID, yes? Using the same password in more than one Apple ID has worked for me in the past, but I haven't tried it in a while so the tightened security may have changed that. You could use the same password but add "-UK" and "-BE", or something like that, to make it easier to remember.
I understand what you mean about losing the ability to deal with UK purchased stuff, but this is becoming so inconvenient that I do want to delete that UK apple ID account. I have looked everywhere I can think of on the apple website (apple id, itunes, support etc) and I can't find a link/eplanation/contact point that deals with deleting apple ID and itune store accounts. Surely this must be possible?
It's possible, but Apple is very reluctant to do it, and it's not something a user can do on their own. It would be better to just stop using the UK account rather than trying to get it deleted. Just remove your payment information and there should be little reason to have the account deleted. If you really want to try, though, you'll need to send a message to iTunes support specifying that you want the account cancelled.
On a completely different matter, I have bought my son an ipod touch. But since he is younger than 13 years old, how does one go about using the itunes store to get music onto his ipod touch?
You would need to buy tracks for him; he's too young to have his own iTunes Store account. To control what gets synched to his iPod, this should help:

HI my partner used my apple id and email address when setting up his iPhone so when he turned on iCloud our phones merged!! How do we undo this? Can he still use my iTunes account with a different Id and can he change the email on his phone without losing information? Also iPad is linked too, the family uses this and I would like to keep my phone separate! At the moment nothing is sacred! Please help! We are not very good with computers!!
Several things here so let me attempt to clarify.
For iCloud the reason the contacts where removed from he other device is because you updated your contacts, in this case deleted them, and then iCloud updated the other device to match. By deleting the iCloud account on the device it will stop the device from using that iCloud account and therefore nothing will change on the other device. By using a seperate Apple ID you can still use the features of iCloud, Find My iPhone comes to mind, without your content (contacts, message etc.) merging with the other device
For iTunes, you cannot use two Apple IDs for one account however if you use the same account iTunes on your computer will keep the content on each device seperate very nicely. You can also configure the settings for iTunes and the App store on each device to keep the content from automatically downloading to the other device. What I meant by share apps and music is this. What happens if you find a game, lets say Minecraft, that you really like and it cost, as Mincraft cost, $6.99USD. You buy it and play for a while and then you realize that your husband really likes the game as well. If you both use the same Apple ID for iTunes he can download the $7.00ish game to his device at no additional charge. If you use seperate Apple IDs for iTunes well... it look like he will also be paying for the game to have it on his account. Same goes for Music and Movies
I hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have anymore question.
