Losing Faith

I have always loved Nokia phones. I used to play snake on my parents old one, I had my own when I was in high school, and I decided to try the Lumia 925 in college. I love the windows phone ecosystem, but the hardware itself has failed me tremendously. 
The first phone I had, with the recommended settings and very litle use, died within 4 hours of use each time and the battery overheated. So, T-mobile let me exchange the phone for another one. This one has better battery life (barely) and the battery overheats with moderate use and charging, to the point where I can't even touch the top of the phone. When driving to a new place the other day, the GPS decided it was not wanting to lock on to a signal and hold it, constantly telling me to reroute and not changing the distance that I had traveled (had full coverage and offline maps installed and tried multiple GPS apps). 
Now, T-mobile wants me to try a warranty exchange since I have had the phone more than two weeks and it broke. I hate to admit it, but I do not really wish to give a third one of this phone a shot. I depend heavily on my phone and cannot risk getting another lemon. 
In a nutshell, I am very unhappy and T-mobile is not helping the case. I wish Nokia could restore my faith, but two attempts and two fails is a completely imperfect track record. Hopefully someone who can actually help and not just apologize to me reads this and can help me out because the phrase "I'm sorry, that's unfortunately all I can do to help you" is unacceptable and just is flat out not working.

^Well you do have to note that most posters are still Nokia owners and will talk up their own phones. You also have to account for the helpers. While the posters with low post counts are understandably biased against Nokia, the regulars are some of the biggest Nokia fanboys I've found on the internet.
Overall, I'd say that the sentiment around Nokia is definitely more negative than that of other phone manufacturers even discounting forum bias. This could easily be judged by the company's affairs (in complete upheaval of upper management) and stock value (in steep decline).
There have been some slightly good news for Nokia recently in that their earning report beat estimates though I still wouldn't consider the company in good health. The market ignored the good news and the stock declined the day anyways.

    We are all users here. You are not talking to apple on these forums. There is no way anyone here can know the decision making process apple uses to determine what changes to make to the operating system. Also none of use care about which phone you might buy next.

    I'm sorry, but I don't get how you can make that statement.
    First off, you didn't answer any of my questions...didn't confirm what version of FCP you are using and didn't mention what version of Vegas was being used.
    Second, Vegas is HARDLY in front of FCP. Name one company that uses Vegas for broadcast TV work...especially in HD. There are post houses in LA and NY that are entirely FCP based, Avid based....but not one that uses Vegas.
    Now, either answer the questions or you will be considered a Troll trying to tout Vegas over FCP.

  • Im losing faith in Apple

    I absolutley love my 3GS but im begining to lose faith in Apple and will seriously consider moving to a different brand of phone when my contract is up.
    My phone had to be exchanged because of signal problems early on when i first had it which wasnt really a problem because it was a straight exchange then it kept switching off so had to go for repair so i didnt have a phone for nearly 2 weeks.
    Ive now got problems connecting to the itunes store (And many others have the same problem) since the itunes update, My sons got the new iphone4 which has the notorious signal problem (And he brought a bumper)and theres obvious problems with the latest version 4 software which i darent install in case it causes me more issues.
    It seems to me Apple are quick to charge top price for thier phones but are pretty shoddy on sorting out any faults they inccur. Steve Jobs brushes off iphone4 problems and tells people they are holding thier phone wrong, It doesnt exactly instill you with confidence for the Apple brand.
    Apple need to pull thier fingers out and start to look after thier customers a bit better before they start to move on else where.

    Little comfort but according the Oftel and then confirmed by 4 big networks Stoke and Staffs have poor to moderate 3G coverage at best and who's to argue with the Telecomms regulator so you may find others having issues in your area with just about any smart phone.
    Personel experience holds this out as i visit a customer in Longton few times a year and both my business O2 Nokia N95 and personal Orange Iphone struggle to connect/ find a 3G signal every time
    Oh and don't say those with Blackberrys aren't - You do know most of those business phones are actually are operating on the 2G network don't you and sending/receiving email ain't that resource hungry.
    As for your phone not loading into iTunes its most likely down to your cable- the pins and the base of your phone are damaged easily if you plug them directly into the phone frequently.
    Best using a dock to reduce this risk.
    As to the snipe at customer service why?
    You had a 3GS with a fault (happens) - they exchanged it no problem
    Your exchange phone developed a fault of switching its self off - Likely the proximity sensor - They repaired it.
    Go with a fault -APPLE WILL HELP YOU find a solution - THEY DO THAT.
    Apple after a period of investigation (All businesses surely need time to find out if their product have a design problem)
    They acknowledged their IS an issue with the antenna under specific conditions and they offer at least a work round - FOC to ALL customers even if you HAVEN"T experienced the issue yourself you can now have a case or bumper FOC.
    And the actual fault here is a bit of naivety on Apples part- still being new to mobile phones and their quirk, because Nokia/Sony Ericsson/Samsung and others have +ALL Known+ about the antenna issues for years -so much so they INCLUDE references and how NOT to hold your phone instructions in their user manuals.
    Apple will surely follow this simple practise !
    I expect though don't know for sure that the delay in delivering the White Iphone4 and general low stocks could well be because the Apple are working on a mid term and minor modification - something along the lines of under cutting the steel band for increased insulation.
    FOR SURE THEY WON'T just keep trucking the same phone for ever - THATS NOT the APPLE way at all.

  • Losing faith in Mail - am I missing something?

    I'm really starting to lose faith in the standard Mail client in OSX Lion.
    If I forward a message, the mail client adds the entire routing table of the original email as text within my forwarded message, that makes all my forwarded messages look terrible.
    This doesn't happen when I reply to a message, only when I forward one.
    It also doesn't happen when I Forward as attachment (although IOS Mail can't read emails where I've used Forward as attachment)
    I've looked through all the settings and can't find anything obvious - I can't believe everyone else using Mail would accept this so I'm guessing something is wrong with my settings.
    Any ideas gratefully received...

  • I can't open itunes and I'm losing faith... please help

    Each time I try to run itunes I receive an error message reading "The instruction at "0x6b636975" referenced memory at "0x6b636975". The memory could not be "read"."
    There are also several Asian (I think) characters in the pop up dialog box. I googled it, and only sites with the similar Asian script appear. I've also tried methods recommended for other error messages, but nothing has worked. Please help, before I give up on itunes forever!

    Thanks for the assistance. I do believe the problem is with Quicktime. I tried to install quicktime stand alone, and when I tried to open it, it didn't do anyting. No error message, nothing. When I try to uninstall it, it "encounters" a problem, unless I first delete the program file, then run the uninstall.
    okay, perhaps let's try the following method for swapping out your QuickTime:
    Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:

    Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
    next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
    switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
    go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
    if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • Losing faith in my Q10

    I bought my Q10 May 4th 2013 and loved it instantly...until having to return it 3 days later b/c it was getting VERY hot and wouldn't charge.
    The 2nd Q10 worked well for for a few weeks then in July #2 started dropping calls, missing texts, email, and calls. Switched to a Samsung since my carrier wouldn't take my phone for repairs (said they had so many complaints they won't take Q10 back for repair anymore).
    After 6 months on Samsung I got so frustrated w auto correct and the touch screen that I went and got another Q10 (my 3rd one w/in a year). This one has started dropping calls, freezing, not letting calls thru, echoing sound and we'll it's hard to stay loyal when the devices keep failing me.
    I want to stay on my Q10 I love the keyboard but if it doesn't work...how do I keep on top of my business? BlackBerry please fix this device I WANT to stay but you must give me something to stay for!

    Oh yesterday you upgrdaded. 
    After any OS upgrade on a BB10 device, it will take 48-72 hours for the device data syncing of email, contacts, social apps, etc., to complete and finish. High data transfer after an upgrade cause high processor use, which in turn causes high battery usage. Likewise, high processor use will cause some lag and initial slowness. Ignore and and be patient. It can take the 48 hours for all contacts to sync back to the device. And, the battery will recover after a few days. Just don't drain your battery to 10% or less each time, top off the charge. You'll notice a difference after a couple days.
    So after a 2-3 days if you're still having these issue you mentioned, let us know. There might be a couple things you can do to help.

  • Losing faith with AirDisk feature

    Ever since I've used the AirDisk feature I've had connection problems...
    I have a 400GB external USB 2.0 HD and I dedicated it to be my AirDisk.
    I set all my Macs on my network to backup their data using the .mac Backup program.
    Problems began when I noticed my AirDisk dismount on the desktops of my macs after a few days.
    I would restart both my Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS) and my AirDisk and get back the connection BUT about a week or less the AirDisk would dismount from the desktops.
    I then thought it was a problem with my external HD so I ran disk utility on it from and I found some problems (Incorrect Access Count?) but disk utility fixed the problem - I still had connection problems after the disk repair.
    I then tried another HD altogether, a LaCie HD, and then the same issues happened with this drive, I drive would disconnect after a few days.
    The other strange thing is after I restart both the AEBS and my LaCie drive I see the drive in my Network view BUT I can't log into it.
    I'm very disappointed with this feature and I'm seriously considering putting a NAS HD on my network in place of the AirDisk.
    my specs:
    AEBS w/ 7.2.1 firmware
    AirDisk settings: File Sharing on, access to AirDisk w/ base station password, Guests not allowed
    3 macs on network: 2 with 10.4.11(ethernet) and one with 10.5.1 (wireless)

  • SCVMM losing connection to cluster nodes

    Hey guys'n girls, I hope this is the right forum for this question. I already opened a ticket at MS support as well because it's impacting our production environment indirectly, but even after a week there's been no contact. Losing faith in MS support there
    The problem we're having is that scvmm is that a host enters the 'needs attention' state, with a winrm error 0x80338126. I guess it has something to do with the network or with Kerberos, and I've found some info on it, but I still haven't been able to solve
    it. Do you guys have any ideas?
    Problem summary:
    We are seeing an issue on our new hyper-v platform. The platform should have been in production last week, but this issue is delaying our project as we can't seem to get it stable.
    The problem we are experiencing is that SCVMM loses the connection to some of the Hyper-V nodes. Not one
     specific node. Last week it happened to two nodes, and today it happened to another node. I see issues with WinRM, and I expect something to do with kerberos. See the bottom of this post for background details and software versions.
    The host gets the status 'needs attention', and if you look at the status of the machine, WinRM gives an error. The error is:
    Error (2916)
    VMM is unable to complete the request. The connection to the agent cc1-hyp-10.domaincloud1.local was lost.

    running the following command:

    This

    Doing a simple test from the VMM server to the problematic cluster node shows this error:

    So at this point only the test from the cc1-vmm-01 to cc1-hyp-10 seems to be problematic.
    I followed the steps in the page
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275 (which is referred to above). I tried the VMMCA, but it can't really get it working the way I want, or it seems to give outdated recommendations.
    I tried checking for duplicate SPN's by running setspn -x on affected machines. No results (although I do not understand
     what an SPN is or how it works). I rebuilt the performance counters.
    It tried setting 'sc config winrm type= own' as described in [http://blinditandnetworkadmin.blogspot.nl/2012/08/kb-how-to-troubleshoot-needs-attention.html].
    If I reboot this cc1-hyp-10 machine, it will start working perfectly again. However, then I can't troubleshoot the issue, and it will happen again.
    I want this problem to be solved, so vmm never loses connection to the hypervisors it's managing again!
    Background information:
    We've set up a platform with Hyper-V to run a VM workload. The platform consists of the following hardware:
    2 Dell R620's with 32GB of RAM, running hyper-v to virtualize the cloud management layer (DC's, VMM, SQL). These machines are called cc1-hyp-01 and cc1-hyp-02. They run the management vm's like cc1-dc-01/02, cc1-sql-01, cc1-vmm-01, etc. The names are self-explanatory.
    The VMM machine is NOT clustered.
    8 Dell M620 blades with 320GB of RAM, running hyper-v to virtualize the customer workload. The machines are
    called cc1-hyp-10 until cc1-hyp-17. They are in a cluster.
    2 Equallogic units form a SAN (premium storage), and we have a Dell R515 running iscsi target (budget storage).
    We have Dell Force10 switches and Cisco C3750X switches to connect everything together (mostly 10GB links).
    All hosts run Windows Server 2012R2 Datacenter edition. The VMM server runs System Center Virtual Machine Manage 2012 R2.
    All the latest Windows updates are installed on every host. There are no firewalls between any host (vmm and hypervisors) at this level. Windows firewalls are all disabled. No antivirus software is installed, no symantec software is installed.
    The only non-standard software that is installed is the Dell Host Integration Tools 4.7.1, Dell Openmanage Server Administrator, and some small stuff like 7-zip, bginfo, net-snap, etc.
    The SCVMM service is running under the domain account DOMAINCLOUD1\scvmm. This machine is in the local administrators group of each cluster node.
    On top of this cloud layer we're running the tenant layer with a lot of vm's for a specific customer (although they are all off now).

    I think I found the culprit, after an hour of analyzing wireshark dumps I found the vmm had jumbo frames enabled on the management interface to the hosts (and the underlying infrastructure does not).. Now my winrm commands started working again.

  • I purchased Ring Tones - they do not show up on my phone

    Turns out all Ernestine Anderson songs are ring tonable. So I bought one, then a ring tone for 1.98...A bell folder appeared, a "ringtone" tab appeared WITH the ring tone I created. I hit apply so I can sync the ringtone into the iPhone, the iPhone says "sync in Progress" then the sync stops with no error messages. I look at my ringtone list in my iPhone....and its not there. The same goofy ring tones it came with.
    I have the current iPhone version - 1.0.2
    I have the current iTunes version - 7.4.1.2
    I am however losing faith in apple products and this is my first apple product.
    What is wrong? - I had to authorize it - problem solved (dunno why I had to in the first place but..)

    iTunes for some reason un-authorized it so I had to authorize it and it worked.

  • How long does it take for the warehouse to show a phone as recieved so I can pay my final bill?  I would like to sign up for Verizon again as I am very unsatisfied with my new company but cannot until this is resolved.

    I recently switched to another competitor but would actually like to start from scratch with Verizon but cannot do so because they cannot locate my devices I mailed in to their warehouse.  I switched my whole family's accounts, 3 phones and 1 mobile hotspot, to a competitor to get a cheaper rate and unlimited data but I have not been happy with their service and would like to switch back.  The problem is when switching the first time I was told by a Verizon chat rep that I could send my Edge devices back in and would get credit for them and stop my edge payments which was not the way I know now it is supposed to work.  After a couple of phone calls a supervisor looked at my online chat transcript and realized that I was correct and the rep had told me incorrectly that they would take my edge phones back and give me credit for them and I could close my account by only paying the early termination fees.  She sent me two envelopes to send my two edge phones back in and said they would credit on my account and stop the monthly billing for them once they were received.  I called a couple of weeks ago after being charged 24.99 for the both of them again for the month after my account was stopped.  They said that they had not received my phones and I should have noted the tracking number from the labels the rep sent me so they could track them.  I tried to find the tracking numbers but couldn't so I got back on live chat and asked them to resend me the letter from the supervisor rep as well as resending the labels and he said they could that and it should be 7-10 business days.  It has now been over two weeks and I have not received the resent letter or labels so I cannot give them the tracking number to prove I sent my phones back to them.  I have also researched the facility I was asked to send these phones back to and it seems this is a pretty common Verizon trick of making you prove you sent the phones and not giving you any access to the tracking numbers.  I just want to pay my ETF's and close out my original account so I can start over fresh with Verizon but now I am losing faith in doing that as this is making me wonder if they are the type of company I want to deal with.  Please someone who may have dealt with this help me restore my faith in Verizon and give me an idea of what to do next.

    How recently did you switch?  If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account.  The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices.  I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices... 

  • HT1386 I have a new computer and when I tried to sync my iPod Touch with the new iTunes, it has lost all of my music and videos from my iPod/old iTunes library: including all but 4 songs of my bought songs, videos and audeobooks!

    I have recently updated my computer since my old one broke and therefore had to download a new iTunes. When I came to add my iPod to this new iTunes, I was given no option to transfer the contents of my iPod library to this new iTunes and was forced to try 'sync'; when my old computer was repaired once we lost all of our data so I had to download a new iTunes then,all of my iPod downloads were transferred and I could easily reburn my CDs so I didn't think the wiping of my iPod would be a problem. When I clicked 'sync' it warned me that it would replace the contents of my iPod with the new iTunes library, as I said I didn't think this would be a problembut then it asked if it should transfer my recent iTunes downloads so I said 'yes'. The sync was completed but now I only have 4 downloaded songs and 5 albums which I burned to my new iTunes! I have lost all the music I bought, all the videos I bought and all the audiobooks I bought! (Luckily I still have my apps.) I tried to restore backup but realised that only covers calendars, contacts E.T.C and I checked my iTunes account and that shows all my downloads but I can't see a way to restore them or anything like that!
    Please help! I am in despair as you can imagine how much moneys worth I have lost and am losing faith in Apple

    Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
    As IO said before:
    You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    I do not think it included audio books.

  • IPad 2  AND iphone 4 battery draining FAST since IOS 6 update!

    I have done EVERYTHING I can think of and that has been suggested all over the World Wide Web to improve the battery life of both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 since the IOS 6 software update. Nothing works!!!! I am leaving town in a week, and I would like my phone to be working the way it did before.
    Still taking suggestions to fix this.
    APPLE please do something. I am losing faith, and I am also losing my desire to buy the new iPhone 5!

    Have you tried closing all apps? Double tab the Home button, then tap down on an icon and hold for about 3 seconds, until the icons are moving slightly. Click on the above every App.

  • I would be laughing if it wasn't so inconvenient

    So my go live date was 8th July, by late on 9th July I'm still not connected and have recieved no communication as to what has happened.  I ring to find out what is going on and reach an Indian call centre - they inform me that an engineer is required to come out and connect a phone line to my property,  ironically the same phone line I am ringing them on!
    Losing faith with my "prospective" new providor I request that they cancel the line/broadband take over.  I'm put through to another department, "yes that's fine Sir, we will send a prepaid envelope to return your home-hub".
    Imagine my suprise when 2 days later my line is taken over by BT, against my wishes after being assured the change had been cancelled.  Once again ring to RE-cancel my order. I am informed that I won't be held to contract as I had cancelled before the line change.  "yes that's fine Sir, we will send a prepaid envelope to return your home-hub".  So now I have to wait for my previous service providor to request to retake the line over, AGAIN.
    Imagine my suprise when 2 days later I recieve a bill for the service I had requested cancelled 4 days earlier, while I acknowledge that I should pay for any usage in the meantime,  so I ring to RE-RE-cancel my order and apparently I'm still in an 18month contract once again assured that I won't be held to it,  fingers crossed third time's a charm,  "yes that's fine Sir, we will send a prepaid envelope to return your home-hub".
    As it turns out the phone number I was transfering accross is NOT the phone number of my property.  I've got someone else's phone number attached to the phone in my house, and the phone number I transfered is attached to my account.  So someone else is paying the bill for the phone in my property, and presumably I'm paying the bill for someone else's phone.
    I had a phone call from the "lady whose phone number I have's" mother to check how I was today, which while it's nice to have people who care, she may of prfered to speak to a member of her own family.
    Just on a side note, my broadband speed has quartered (from 2.6 to 0.7) and I thought my previous(current) ISP was slow.
    All in all not the most impressive display from the Britain's biggest communications company.

    They normally reply by email or phone directly to you within 3/5  working days they will take personal ownership of your problem until resolved and will keep you informed of progress
    They are a UK based BT specialist team who have a good record at getting problems solved

  • Network Connection Was Refused - PLEASE help me this time...

    To be perfectly honest, I'm quite irritated. I want answers. And if there is no answer, I want someone to tell me such. I've posted three times before, twice on someone else's topic, and once on my own. This is my last ditch effort. PLEASE help me. I really enjoy the use of your product, and I don't want to give up on it.
    Many people are having issues with their network connection. I know I'm not the only one. Some diagnostics say the connection to iTunes works, but for some reason still won't open the music store. In my case, it says it isn't.
    I went to my parents' house this holiday and stole their broadband high speed internet connection, hoping that the new connection might make iTunes work. Nope. So now I'm fresh out of ideas.
    Here is the information I posted on an earlier post below. PLEASE help me answer my question. I'm really missing my iTunes. It's been a long time since I've had it, and there are a bunch of songs I plan to download if I am able to get it back. Thank you so much!
    I downloaded the newest version of iTunes, without realizing that there were so many problems with it. The installation went off without a hitch, and it was able to open up my library. However, whenever I try to access the music store, the message "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again" appeared. I tried redownloading it, but that didn't solve the problem. I got frustrated, and finally was able to download 7.01. That didn't work either. So I downloaded the older version that I used to have. The same error message appeared. NOW I'm mad, because I can't even get the older version back. I want my older version back... I never had a problem with your products before, but right now I'm slowly losing faith. PLEASE help me.
    I can't run a diagnostics on my network connection anymore, but I had posted my first diagnostics on the old post, referencing back to when I was still trying to fix the newest version. I'll post the diagnostics below the post.
    I have a wireless connection, since I live in an apartment complex right now. I didn't have the same connection type when I first downloaded iTunes a year or more ago, but I was able to work iTunes under this connection before I uploaded.
    Please help me. I want my music store back.
